Guy by the name of, "sho" has stellar customer service and was very helpful my first time here. I recommended this spot to my husband but the guy that answers the phone didnt convince me to bring the vehicle there. I called in to ask about a "rough idle" estimate. First, if there was availability second, for a quote over the phone. He said, free if they do the service there and 50 per hour if they just provided the diagnostic. I asked well, how many hours would it be? He got defensive and said, "oh I don't know." He starts naming off everything, I said this vehicle does not have a timing belt only a chain. Still no estimate on how many hours, Honda of Alhambra will charge $196 for a diagnostic only for whatever length of service +fee waived if I do the service and pay cost.. I may even be able to get a reader to see if any error codes come back and the guy over the phone could not specify a target time? When he answered like that, to me it said a few things. (1) he would potentially overcharge for unbillable hours (2) his workers are unreliable (3) that they're too busy. oh well. read more

They managed to get a mechanic on it right then and there. Confirmed they heard the sound and gave me an idea of what it could be. A week after I had a repair job with Aki to replace a leaking power steering hose line, it was making vibrations and noises under the hood. Turns out, they did not reattach the original bracket to hold the hose line in place. So as I'm driving, it would move around and rub against other things. I also had another job with them to repair the axle, and now it's leaking transmission because they didn't put in a seal. I came back to see James, but he wasn't accommodating to address the problems. These little things they should really pay attention to, as I shouldn't have to pay for future repairs because of their carelessness for not checking. read more

I really don't like to do this but I think is important to leave good and especially bad reviews where is necessary. I was highly recommended by a friend and looked up the reviews which prompted me to make the 45 minutes drive to this location. As soon as i got there no one acknowledged me until I walked into the garage. I was there because my check engine light had come up and explained this to the gentlemen with the James tag on his shirt, he made a disappointing face and told me he didn't have time for it and I asked him if he could just scan it which is a quick procedure he looked at me in annoyance and told me to take it to a Auto Zone. Called a few places to see if I could get a rough quote for my front brakes which needed replacement and also a time frame for about how long and if they could do it as soon as possible but kept getting the run around. I called Aki's and they gave me a quote and a rough estimate about how long it would take so I made arrangements to take it in, dropped off my car and within an hour they called me back said it was ready. I called in at 2:45 on a Tuesday afternoon. They said They'd take care of my car today if I brought him in by 3. Because my car pulled some shenanigans on me, I didn't take it in until 3:45! I thought I'd ask just in case. They told me what was wrong with my car and they got working on it immediately. I've never gotten such speedy service at an auto shop before. Wanted to drop my car off to get checked out for a problem it was experiencing and was instantly told to go to the shop that's right next to them. The mechanic wouldn't even look at my car to see if there was a problem (definitely got the vibe that he couldn't be bothered). This was unfortunately a bad experience since it was my first time here. Overall though this unpleasant situation turned into a great one since the place I was sent to was very professional and courteous (even though they weren't mechanics who could help my car situation). That being said, I did end up going to a different mechanic, one who took the time to investigate the car to properly figure out what was wrong. Who knows, maybe this place is so busy that they prefer to turn new business away? read more

I shopped quotes around and they beat the competition by $150-200 all day. I dropped my car off at 8AM and got a call at noon that it was ready. Stopped in to get an oil change and also see what was happening with my oil as it was starting to burn more than usual. I was in and out in a matter of 30 minutes! Got my oil changed and James was so helpful. I clearly had been given the wrong information from other automotive service professionals. I've known Kyle for a few years now but never committed to taking a car to Aki's. On a side note Kyle is literally superman. He works 2 jobs and is currently going for his RN and already has a bachelors degree. But regardless, I was having issues with the A/C in my moms 06 civic hybrid and they tracked down the problem very quickly. Now, the AC is blowing ice cold and never been happier because it would get so humid in that civic. I totally recommend anyone come bring their car here for service. Kyle and James are super gentleman and they are willing to assist you in any way. I even saw the owner Aki dropping an engine in a Dodge Durango and he's an older gentleman.
