I paid for the Freon gas that had a fluorescent dye in case it leaks the next day. The next day my refrigerant was empty again and I took it back and they found the leak behind my dashboard. Which meant the whole dashboard needed to be taken off to replace the AC evaporator. They gave me their bid and a turnaround time of about a week since they wanted to make sure the job was done correctly. On top of that they found that my brake pads needed to be replaced which i let them replace. Overall I didn't go with them for the ac evaporator job since I found another shop that was cheaper and gave me a faster turn around time, however I felt that they were honest and genuinely tried to help me. Nothing bad to say about this shop.

I had previously taken the van to the dealership, where the spark plugs and ignition coils were replaced, but the misfire was still not resolved. Alexander performed a thorough diagnostic and correctly determined that the fuel injectors were causing the problem. He replaced the injectors and used dealer-level Mercedes diagnostic equipment to properly code and program them to the vehicle. We also discovered significant carbon buildup on the intake valves, which is common on direct-injection engines. Alexander had the proper walnut-blasting equipment and performed an intake-valve carbon cleaning. I was very impressed with his knowledge of Mercedes vehicles, advanced computer diagnostics, fuel-injector programming, and direct-injection systems. His diagnosis was accurate and his work was professional. The shop also provides general auto repair, tires, wheel alignments, transmission repair, and other automotive services. About three hours later, I got a call telling me I needed roughly $3,800 in repairs. The way it was presented made it sound like these repairs were urgent and that my van could leave me stranded. When I pushed back and said I'd rather get rid of the van than dump $3,800 into it, suddenly I was told some of the repairs were only "recommended." That didn't sit right with me, so I paid for the diagnostic and one sensor repair and left. I took the van to another shop in Downey for a second opinion. They checked everything, including the brakes, and told me the van was in great shape. No major problems. I ended up getting new tires, tire sensors, a couple of bulbs, and a complete safety check. Going from "you need $3,800 in repairs" to "your van is in great shape" is a pretty huge difference. My advice: get a second opinion before approving any major work at PURRFECT Auto. PURRFECT Auto? Their spelling may be PURRFECT, but my experience was definitely not perfect.
