First things first , the service was soooooo good u like many other shops like Nabula sweets. The women was so helpful and very patient . She explained me each sweet and made me choose from A vast variety . I have seen sub standard service in other shops , but Al basha was awesome . They have different sizes of plates and the rates are based on the plate size . I got a medium plate for about 12$ and mixed all sweets . Quality of sweets were good but not the best I have had . WOW - quite possibly the best beklava I've ever had in my life and don't thing anything else will top this experience. They have several nut filling options for it - walnuts, cashew,and pistachio. The walnut one was the best one as the cardamom flavors were very strong in that. It was perfectly flaky, sweet, and soft. The texture and flavors of the beklava honestly cannot be compared to anything I've had before. The kunafa was also really goood, very very sweet with the syrup and they even gave us extra syrup to pour on top which is definitely not needed unless you like it super sweet. As of the past year or two, not only has the quality of the food been decreasing but also the customer service has dramatically decreased to the point I have decided I will never come back here again. Not only am I a long time visitor and supporter of Albasha sweets but also, I frequently have events where I show New York Muslim and Arab community a tour of Paterson and all of the food they have to offer. Al Basha Restaurant, Al Basha Bakery, and now--Al Basha Sweets! The interior is open and fairly large with plenty of seating. All of the sweets and pastries are behind a glass window, with the exception of the pre-packed sampler trays, which are on tables next to the counter. SWEETS: Kanafeh: All of the sweets here are priced by the pound, but the "slices" I asked for are $5 each, which I think is fair considering how large they were. All three slices had a generous amount of cheese. While I think an extra ladle of syrup could've been added to the batch I received, the kanafeh here is pretty good. The owner at a bakery up the street told me that the darker kunafeh was exactly the same as the bright orange one; the latter is actually the "crispy" kind (with the Kadayif shreds), while the darker one is soft. Murtabak: This is the Middle Eastern Murtabak dessert, not the Indonesian kind. It's made of phyllo dough with a thick layer of white cheese in the middle and just a little syrup and a sprinkle of pistachios on top. The cheese is thick, while the pastry as a whole isn't too sweet. Small Request: Please provide itemized/detailed receipts with individual prices (and names, if possible) instead of listing only the final cost; it would be helpful, especially if you purchase a variety of items. Note this a review from my 11/25/2017 visit to Al Basha Sweets. Al Basha Sweets is probably the sweet decadent offspring of Al Basha Restaurant which is located two minutes away. Walking into the shop, the entire area was very bright and clean with a large display counter of many available pastries. Behind the display counter, there was a flattop grill where I could see fresh Kunefe (or Kanafeh) being made which made my decision on what to buy pretty easy. I also purchased a piece of their lauded Kadayif. The Kunefe was awesome! The Kadayif shreds were still crunchy despite having absorbed a good amount of sugary syrup, but the special part of the Kunefe was the warm, gooey, and superb milky cheese filling. One quick scoop from my fork resulted in a stringy strands of the cheese pulling apart from the Kunefe like a excellent Mozzarella. Adding shredded pistachios on top was a nice touch, as they imparted a nutty flavor and additional crunchiness. Kadayif was good, but lacked that guilty pleasure element like the Kunefe's cheese. As with the Kunefe, the Kadayif shreds were still very crunchy even after a good soaking of the syrup. For the fresh Kunefe alone, this place is worth the visit! If you have time, I suggest sitting at the several available tables and enjoying a fresh piece of Kunefe along with either coffee or tea. read more

Rated on customer service only. My friend and I stopped in here today for the first time after having lunch at their sister restaurant one minute down the road. The young man behind the glass counter was very kind to us and let us try some free bite size samples of their bakery goods. I always believe that if you get something for free there is nothing to complain about. We ended up not buying anything since we were a bit full from just eating lunch. After we walked out of the shop, we both looked at each other and said we should give him a tip for how nice he treated us, so I went back in and handed him a tip but the young man was not interested in the money and said no thank you in a very sincere way and simply said next time when you want sweets come back here. I walked out again and told my friend what just happened and I said that is the type of person I want working for me. If only customer service like this could be every where and all the time! So, to the owner of this place, you should know that your staff worker who worked at the counter today at around 1:30 pm is a superstar in my book and his level of hospitality is amazing. The place cozy and nicely decorated. The service was good . The Konafa naaema (fine konafeh dough) was delicious, fresh and hot. It is the best konafah I had in the US. Though the konafa kheshna (coarse konafa dough) was below average. The baklava was disappointing especially balwarya and mabroma. It was soggy and made with bad quality pistachio. I'm not a big fan of arabic sweets. I used to love in Jordan and eat once in a blue moon from habiba. The only place I ever eat. But al Basha. My friend recommend me to just try it. And since then. My husband and I walk in to get some knafeh and we were completely ignored. A few seconds later another guy walks in and he's helped before us. After he finishes helping that guy he finally acknowledges us. The knafeh looked a little burnt so we inquire about the color and the guy assures us that it isn't and that it's just the color of it. I've had a lot of knafeh in my life and that knafeh was definitely burnt. I don't understand how they could sell something like that and ruin their brand.
