After driving along HW 6 in the wee hours of the night, I noticed a bunch of cars parked at the CITGO gas station and even eventually realized that none of them were getting gas. It turns out they were here all getting food from none other than Al Mankal Grill, a longtime bookmark and one of the gems of Sugar Land. They're in good company, as there are multiple Halal trucks, serving different cuisines and specializing in all kinds of food. The local following is impressive, but seeing as they have a perfect rating across different platforms, they're clearly doing something right. I ordered the beef and lamb chunks, a $27 (with tax) which had the perfect amount of char with just a hint of smokiness. Despite the price, I was floored at how delicious it was. The chicken shawarma arabi ($12) is a popular choice, while the mixed grill ($18) provides some variety between the meats. The chicken skewer ($6) and lamb with fat ($7) were both outstanding. The guy behind the window was friendly and dealt with every customer in a long line with ease. Credit cards are most definitely accepted and the wait for the food ended up being somewhere around 20 minutes. Unlike the other food trucks, they actually have outdoor seating with a few (albeit janky) picnic tables. This spot will become one of my most frequent when I'm in the area. read more

Close by. Always order ahead of time. It's in a gas station. I don't feel very safe in this gas station area. I stay in my car and jump out to grab my food when its ready and speedy gonzales away from there asap. food is great. Pretty good Arabic bbq for reasonable prices. I tried the beef & lamb plate which came with 2 Lebanese pitas and a good amount of beef and lamb tikka along with some sauces and veggies. The meat was juicy, sauces were good, if I were to complain, I'd say I prefer the tikka to be bigger chunks. The chicken shawarma plate was also good. The chicken was not dry and had some nice flavor, but it wasn't the typical seasonings I'd expect in a shawarma (tasted good, just saying it was different). Fries were also well fried and seasoned which is rare for trucks. Service was friendly and quick, no complaints there. Location is a gas station area, but it was extra difficult to find parking compared to other trucks. read more

Hummus has a strong garlic aftertaste but I love garlic. Shawarma was underwhelming, will likely order something different next time. Best Shawarma i've had! My friend recommended this place and every protein has been great - you also can't beat the portions and price. It's a bit unconventional that the parking lot is a literal gas station, where some of the sides don't have a pump - indicating it's a spot. There are a few tables next to the food truck and the gas station entrance. The crew works fast and are kind. Definitely underrated and deserves more spotlight! I used to like this place. Decent Kabobs. But one day, I brought my friend to this place, we ordered our Kabobs, and sat there on the little chairs they have and ate our food. I bragged to my friend how great the Kabobs were. When we were finished and got up to leave, the owner calls out to me, "Hey. Did you pay me?" Anyone who has eaten here knows you can't even get your food until you've paid. A huge scene commenced because I'm not gonna let this dude call me a thief. He apologized, but nah. Apology not accepted. My friend later said that he overheard one of the owner's buddies who sit in the chairs and hang out suggest we didn't pay. Utterly ridiculous. The chicken shawarma was so fresh and absolutely DELICIOUS. The lamb pieces were full of flavor, I got medium rare with fat but next time I'll opt to not get the one with fat bcz I actually got it based on a review I read and although delicious, I can't stomach the idea of eating pieces of fat lol like no... it was a waste bxz I ended up taking the fat off the meat anyway it was still so moist delicious and juicy without it. Al Mankal Grill has some of the best chicken shawarma I've ever had, way better than Abu Omar. I think they cook their chicken for the chicken shawarma over charcoal so it has a distinct but great flavor. The bread they use is the thinner kind not the thick pita bread so that's great. Just make sure to ask for extra garlic sauce in the shawarma. If you want fries then get the Chicken Shawarma Arabi. The service is good, pretty fast for a food truck. Their prices are about the same as everywhere else that sells similar food. I highly recommend this food truck! read more
