    Chicken Biryani

You wouldn't think a place with Burgers and Halal in the same name would be anything that good. Well Sara's will prove you wrong! This is connected to a gas station, which gives further evidence don't judge a book by its cover. As we were in the thick of Ramadan, it was a little tougher trying to find a good place but Sara's really stuck out to all of us. I have to say that their chicken biryani was probably the standout. The biryani came out piping out and the meat was tender, aromatic, and falling off the bone. The spice level made it perfect. Great flavor. You have to love these hole in the wall places. A hidden gem!

    Lamb Gyro and fries.

I do not recommend!!!! In what world would this cost $20 fries had no seasoning not even salt. The Gyro was mid at best. I ask for extra meat no lettuce, extra onions and extra tomatoes. I got none of that but they charge me $20. This is my first and last time visiting Sara.

A warning to others, we've ordered delivery from here for years but this is the first time we discovered a live worm in our food. Unsure if it's a maggot or what, but needless to say we will not be ordering from here again.

Their mango lassi is the best ever!! Omg so good! Sometimes it takes time to order via ubereats even they are close to me but it's all worth it lol

Food was really good, even my grandmother enjoyed it and she's pretty stuck in her ways about things she eats I didn't give them a 5 star because of the drink choices but overall really good food and fast service.

Really good burgers! On par with M&M grill! Dine in for some reason has better quality in the evening when its not so busy. It does need consistency regardless of how busy it is but hey the cook is human and this place does churn out some really good burgers. The steakhouse burger was the best.

Been driving by for months and kept saying to my gf that we should try the place. Today was the day. There were quite a bit of customers there, which was a good indication. We ordered the chicken and lamb gyros, french fries, and chicken wings with the sauces on the side. They were all excellent! These are my new favorite fries. They gyros had some spice to them. The wings were wonderful. The sauces were good too. We were impressed. The place was clean and the service was friendly. Will definitely return here soon!

My sister and I stopped by Wednesday night for a quick dinner on our way home from school. It was around 8:30 and we were the only ones there (not including the three guys who were just hanging around after eating). When you go to Halal Guys or Gyro King, the food is prepared in front of you and takes less than five minutes. Here, they make it in the kitchen and bring it out to you. Although we were the only ones there, it took almost half an hour to receive our food here. My sister got the Lamb over Rice was was around $7-$8 bucks, much less than our usual Gyro King purchase. I got the Chicken Gyro which was $6.99. After half an hour, the guy brings it out while talking on the phone and didn't make eye contact with us and just left it on the counter. If we weren't the only ones there, I would've been confused on whether the order is ours. BUT despite that weird experience, the food was really good. The first thing we noticed was that Sara's gives you 2-3 times more meat than Halal Guys or Gyro King. The lamb and the chicken were both moist and flavorful, much better than other places. You basically get a lot more food for less money. Would come back again and will order ahead next time. Thumbs up for good Halal food! My one complaint is that my Gyro was impossible to eat. Fell apart everywhere and couldn't close at all, mostly because of how much meat was in it. I suggest putting a toothpick or something through it to hold it together.

Decent lamb over rice. For $8.50, it's reasonable priced. Definitely not the best, but also not bad. Very average and simple. I have to say halal guys and gyro king are still the best in Houston. The quality is very comparable to jones fried chicken. There wasn't anything in this dish that put it over the top. It was slightly too greasy in my opinion too. Would I get the lamb over rice here again? I'm not sure. It'll depend on my mood. I heard their chicken zinger burger is great, so I'll probably try that next time.

Got multiple cheese burgers and chicken sandwiches . They all seemed to made from pre made patties that you can buy from the store. Doesn't look fresh. I thought the chicken sandwich would be a fried chicken burger but its a breaded ground chicken patty.

The staff was patient, polite, and efficient, and my order arrived surprisingly quickly. The pizza was worth every penny--loaded with flavor, fresh ingredients, and cooked just right. I was severely disappointed unfortunately, the beef looked like plastic, if you use the baking soda trick to soften your beef or chicken, you know that if you leave it too long it has that processed frozen dinner texture. The sauce on one had gelatinous chunks and the other was watery and the lomein was super soggy and oily. Veggies in the dishes were fresh though. Not sure if I will give this another try but I might just because I definitely want to support local business owners. TBH maybe they just had a bad night. But it won't be my first choice.

The interior felt sticky and unkept, which is a shame because this is not an old spot by any means and Telfair is a pretty nice community. The legs of the tables were rusted over and the plastic of the chairs were chipped. There were cobwebs on the walls. It just felt like the place has not been well maintained. When we ordered, the cashier never showed or told me my order back and just gave me the total price, expecting me to tap my card. Hearing that our order for 4 people was over $60, the price sounded high to me for the prices listed on the overhead TV menus. Come to find out there was a markup on the loaded fries I ordered that was not reflected on the display. When I asked her about it, she nonchalantly said "Oh yeah the price is higher". My first thought was, hey it's a digital menu, how hard is that to change? Secondly, the attitude in response to how my order broke down was definitely not one of good customer service. I also asked how spicy the chili ranch sauce was that came with the avocado burger since my 6 year-old was ordering it and she assured me it was not spicy. We ended up having to wait over half an hour for our food. Turned out the avocado burger had some sort of chopped peppers throughout the spread and my son couldn't even eat a bite. The biryani was also extremely spicy. I like spicy food as much as the next, but the biryani was hot fire coming out the chute, and there was a lot "chuting" from the family after this meal. Needless to say, we won't be returning anytime soon. Which is too bad, because I want to support local, ethnic foods and honestly, I like the taste of the food.

We ordered the tikka chicken masala paratha and chicken biriyani with a side of fries. The paratha was packed with protein, but unfortunately was hard and dry. The sauce/gravy within the wrap was decent, but just couldn't save the chicken. The biriyani was ok. Chicken was decent but the rice lacked something that made it taste like restaurants quality. The fries were the most disappointing - they were stale and tasted overcooked, sort of like when you reheat day old fries. There's an indicator when your child doesn't care for any fries. Overall meal was about $30. We tipped and cleaned up after ourselves. Not the best counter service, but not bad. The interior was ok. They had Mr. Bean playing on TV, so that brought back some old childhood nostalgia feels. Unlikely that we will be back, but if so, I'll try the burger next time.
