Phenomenal experience! Two of us stopped by after a long day of travel! The staff were super personable ! We are from the US and they communicated with us in english. Our server has a true passion for italy and dishes unique to each city. He gave us recommendations to eat and was a true pleasure to have met. This place is a true hidden gem in Venice!
Al Vaporetto is an amazing little spot in Venice that was open late enough by the time we got into town. It was our first meal in Venice, and it delivered the way we needed it to. I almost gave it 4 stars, but... I'm so appreciative of the staff for still cooking for us. The environment was like a classic Italian restaurant and had some very fun decore using corks throughout the restaurant. It was a very open space, and honestly, I'd love to go back and enjoy more of the menu. The service was beyond amazing. All of our servers were polite, great with suggestions, attentive, and made sure we were happy with our dishes. They even stood open a little later for us, so honestly, I'm so appreciative of yall. The food was on par with all the Italian food that I'm had the whole trip. Honestly, everything we ate abroad was just so delicious. The sauces, pasta, and sea food was so fresh and refreshing. The seafood pasta I had was pretty good, but some of the shrimp were a bit dry. And pizza was fire, and so was the caprice. The spaghetti and meatballs were delicious and harty... all we needed was some spice, and we were golden. I'd definitely hold Al Vaporetto in my archive when I return and honestly can't wait to see Venice again.
This is like a fast casual spot in Venice. We found they had excellent pizza and a lovely staff. It was a nice break from the fine dining of Italy.
So happy we came across this place!!! It was pouring rain and we were turned away from another restaurant because we didn't have reservations. Al Vaporetto was on our way to our hotel and was filled with people and they looked dry and happy. As soon as we walked in, the host gave us a small bag to put our portable umbrellas in and sat us right away, in between other busy tables. Stayed crowded but didn't feel cramped in. Each of the servers were really nice. Ordered two dishes: filet of beef and a pasta with 1/2 lobster. Both were good. For dessert, we had the tiramisu. My husband usually doesn't care for tiramisu, so we shared one. As soon as we each took a bite, we regretted not ordering two. Plan to go back again. (And will each be ordering our own desserts!)
7/3/23- we went there a second time. Than stellar experience this time. They forgot to bring the bread out and we asked for it. It was far slower today than the other day. It took twice as long as the food to arrive. Also, we had to ask where the appetizer was. They forgot. Customer service was a minus 2 stars. The food was good again though. Total cost was just 62 euro. Gave 65 euro looking for change so we can give a tip higher than 3. Took the money and never came back. The waiter robbed himself a bigger tip by not giving back the change.
This was one of those places that was open where we needed to use a restroom. A guy was standing at the entrance trying to rope people in. We came in and looked at the menu and decided to order. I ordered a prosciutto pizza with a chicken tenderloin with fries while my wife ordered the spaghetti with meatballs. After ordering we both used the restroom and were happy. The food came out in a timely manner and looked good enough. The food was OK, not great or bad. Bottom line, it filled the hunger and restroom need. it was the right place at the right time. Three stars!
Waiter was SUPER rude. Waiters had their masks hanging off their face. Tables super close together. Food was bland and mediocre at best. There is MUCH better food on this street. Skip this one.
The food was just okay. We sat by the window which was nice but got swarmed by a gang of gnats which was annoying. They had the door open. Our server was very nice. I had the whole bass fish which she took apart for me. It was good. Not too filling but that's all I could eat because at the point I was ready to go because the gnats were so annoying. The bruschetta was cool. Got that as an appetizer. Can't say I would go back but if you're looking for budget friendly prices this may be for you.
2.5 stars. We had one hour and a half for lunch. Plenty of time, right? Well come here if you have unlimited time because they sure like to be leisurely in Italy. Let me just say that the pizza here was outstanding. Probably 4 stars for the pizza. The crust was perfectly seasoned. The toppings were fine and there are a list of different types of pizzas to choose from. A pizza can feed one person or two depending on levels of hunger. Our group of 5 ordered a few pizzas and one person ordered the prix fixe. All of us got our pizzas right away and the first entree in the prix fixe. As the rest of us were finishing our pizzas, our friend finished his plate of spaghetti. Then we waited and waited. The guy who sat us, walked by and asked us if we needed our check. We explained that we were still waiting on our friend's 2nd course entree, which had never arrived after 45 minutes. He also had a cappuccino included in his prix fixe that never arrived. At this point we wanted to leave because we had a gondola ride that was scheduled at 2:15 pm. Then, our server (different guy) brought out the second course, but we told him that we needed the check. He took offense saying that the dish was already made and plated, indicating that we had to eat it before leaving. It was evident that he had forgotten because the other guy told him that we never received that course and he probably got yelled at for it. Fine, we'll still pay for it, but box it up because we want the check. It's not like we can eat it in our hotel room either (see Hotel Michelangelo review http://www.yelp.com/biz/hotel-michelangelo-mestre#hrid:3mASvDm_4xfhLAIlk6x79Q). Sometimes, I wish that Italians weren't so easily offended. We should have explained that we were on a time crunch. By the time we had paid and left the restaurant, we had 5 minutes to get to Piazza San Marco, which is impossible if you don't know how to navigate Venice. And we got lost and missed our tour group. I mean, we RAN through the alleys of Venice like we were in the Amazing Race, asking people left and right how to get to St. Mark's while panicked and out of breath. At one point, there was a T- intersection where a sign pointed in both directions to Piazza San Marco. Because, that's helpful. We ran through Piazza San Marco and upset the pigeons who flew up wildly as we passed. "You are the last team to arrive. I am sorry to tell you that you have been eliminated from the race." We missed a pre-paid gondola ride because of one irritated waiter. Yeah, still a little bitter about it.

It wasn't our first choice. We wanted to go to Pizzeria L'Angelo but it was only counter service and mom was tired. Al Vaporetto is the classic tourist trap. There are no locals eating inside and the worst part is that all the Americans are ordering Fettuccine Alfredo. My Cacio e Pepe was okay. The cheese plate was very subpar and the dishes for my Mom and brother were typical. No bold flavors, no garlic, and no seasonings. If you're looking for an Olive Garden experience in Venice then it's is the place for you. I have no one to blame but myself for coming but we won't be back. I rather go to Pizzeria L'Angelo or walk to Osteria Da Bacco and enjoy a meal thousand times better and save euros in doing so. read more

Food was amazing! Pizza with spicy salami had perfect crust and flavor. Sauce was also great. We both had latte's and those were great as well! Very quick service and the ambiance felt like a classic Italian place. read more

Excellent service with Leo. Would recommend this ristorante. Had fresh shrimp and it was excellent along with Carbonara and bruschetta. read more

This was one of those places that was open where we needed to use a restroom. A guy was standing at the entrance trying to rope people in. We came in and looked at the menu and decided to order. I ordered a prosciutto pizza with a chicken tenderloin with fries while my wife ordered the spaghetti with meatballs. After ordering we both used the restroom and were happy. The food came out in a timely manner and looked good enough. The food was OK, not great or bad. Bottom line, it filled the hunger and restroom need. it was the right place at the right time. Clam pasta has lots of sand. Also, I had to add salt and pepper to eat it. Flavor is lacking. Be aware of sharing, they charge you 6 euros. I would not come here again. read more

My first day in Venice and this is the first restaurant I'm trying out in Italy. It seems like this place was full of locals so the food has gotta be good, right? Well, I ordered a hamburger with chips (fries) and an awesome drink that a local recommended. Some of my fries were cold and some of them were steaming hot. That was odd. The hamburger bun also tasted as if it had been defrosted right before I ordered it. This place is definitely casual dining and I will be back for the milanese, pasta, dessert and espresso. They start you out with water with gas ( sparkling water) or without gas ( bottled water). The staff is very friendly. There was a guy standing outside who answered any questions I had about the menu. He was very charming. read more

Excellent spot to come to for quality food and service. The location is tucked away from the water (just an 8 minute walk - West from Piazza San Marco). We had a Margherita Pizza, Italian Salad (greens mix, fresh grated mozzarella, black olives, fresh tomato slices). We finished off our lunch with two cappuccinos (of course Italy has the best cappuccinos in the world, and this restaurant makes excellent ones), and we had a slice of the lemon cake and tiramisu. The lemon cake was perfect- it was not too sweet, and the cake part was firm yet soft enough to keep the cake in tact with every bite. The tiramisu literally melts in your mouth. Great little lunch spot and excellent service from the staff! read more

The waiter might seem unfriendly at first, but he is really nice guy. The food is outstanding! All the flavors complement each other beautifully. I really liked it. Their chef spices everything just right. read more

Don't waste your money here! The food isn't good and they charge you for everything! The staff is unfriendly and rude. The place might seem nice and "italian" but is not worth it! They will charge you 4€ for each coke and 2.50€ just for sitting it's insane. read more

We dined at a restaurant two minutes away yesterday and I could not stomach the food (stale and tasteless). I will name them in another review. Today we ordered the four cheese pizza, lasagne, and gnocchi and everything was delicious! The service was fast and the waiter was very professional. I only wish we had found this place yesterday!! There is a very nice "Igloo Ice Cream" restaurant next door which is a nice place to have dessert. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to hungry tourists and travelers. read more

One of the problems with Venice is that the food seems to be at different ends of the cost spectrum - either widely expensive, or grab a slice of pizza and eat while walking for a couple of euros. When I was visiting I had a deadline of getting back to the train station by 19.30 so it was also quite important to find somewhere that could serve up food pretty quickly. In the backstreets (actually that pretty much sums up most of Venice) we found Al Vaporetto. The food is standard italian fayre - pizza, pasta, etc - however the prices are very good for Venice. It is a seated restaurant, and the waiters were very good when we explained that we had only an hour to get our last train back. The pizza was great (I love salami on my pizza) and they also helped with directions to the nearest water bus. Perfect end to the day. read more

The best meal so far this trip to Italy. Seafood Risotto and the fresh calamari were to die for. Beer was fresh and the service was 5-star. A must while staying in Italy. read more

Stop by here because I needed to eat spaghetti- hey, it's Italy! Good menu, good service, and good atmosphere! Not romantic or complicated- just simple good Italian food! plus, the bathrooms were clean so that helps. read more
