I am always in the mood for Middle Eastern food, however, that does not mean I will settle for less than the best. I am not settling with New Aladdin's. Not only does this restaurant deliver, but they have a menu only to provide extra convenience. The prices are reasonable and the portions generous. My favorite item on the menu is the mujadara sandwich (I add Lebanese cheese). I also really enjoy their garlic spread and yogurt salad. I ordered the Chicken Meshwi which was served with hummus and salad (I picked the yogurt salad. The hummus was the smoothest I have ever eaten. The yogurt salad was brimming with cucumbers. Always really good service. Sometimes I come in and know what I want before they hand me the menu and they prepare it fast. Other times I get here early (sometimes as much as a half hour) and wait for friends and I never feel rushed by them. Desserts are really good and portions are great. Mackloubee is a rice dish flavored with saffron and cinnamon and has bits of chicken, eggplant and pine nuts. Go. just do it. I didn't like the super creamy hummus. My favorite is a roasted red pepper hummus from the farmer's market in my hometown. So I compare every hummus to that one, and New Aladdin's just didn't cut it. Three of us went for dinner. I got the eggplant stew, which didn't have very complex flavors. What I tasted most was the tomato, and I had to add some salt to the dish. The rice pilaf tasted like it was made from a box. Maybe it was too buttery? The fattoush salad was okay. Again, nothing great. Never disappointed and always impressed with the exceptional degree of rich and bold flavors throughout the menu. The salad was good and a perfect size. The chicken was pretty good a little on the dry side but still good. And the hummus was good! My favorite mediterranean restaurant in Lansing. I really like coming to this restaurant the wait staff is extremely friendly and pretty quick about getting your food out at lunchtime. One of my favorite dishes is the chicken breast salad. I'm not exactly sure how they get the chicken breast so juicy. Just trust me you will love this salad. Best tabouli and hummus hands-down. This is probablt the best Middle Eastern / Mediterranean restaurant in Lansing. They have been open since 1996 and even though they only have one location their clientele and their food continues to be freshest in town. Their hummus is very creamy and fresh. The key is that they make their hummus fresh daily, by soaking their beans. They do not use canned beans at all. The baba ganoush has a smoky flavor due to their roasting their eggplant in their skins before making the dip. One of my favorite dishes to order are the Vegetarian sampler which comes with stuffed grape leaves, falafel, baba ganoush, hummus and a choice of salad. The other dish I like is called Aladdin's Green sampler which comes with mujadara (bulgur and lentils), grape leaves, falafel, hummus and a side salad. Both these samplers are both under 9 bucks and come with tons of food with leftovers for lunch the next day! Pita is a plus! Their vegetarian kibebee is probably the best I have ever eaten. Before going vegan I ate regular kibbee but the vegetarian surpasses the meaty option. It is a perfect combination of potatoes, lemon, onions stuffed with spinach. Delicious! Go ahead and try them! New Aladdin's has great, fresh Middle Eastern food in very generous portions! Our server was very friendly and accommodating, knew the menu very well, and was able to explain unfamiliar dishes to us. We were there early on a Friday evening and got to experience the full Middle Eastern experience, complete with belly dancers! I must admit it did seem a little surreal! Their hummus is among the best I've tasted, very creamy and flavorful. This is definitely the real deal! The fattoush salad is very good, in fact between us we tried all the salads and enjoyed them all. As far as drinks go, they have a good selection of smoothies, I can highly recommend the "Camel Fuel" which consisted of banana, mango, and guava (at least that's what I think is in there!). No alcohol, but that's often the case with Middle Eastern restaurants. For my entree I enjoyed the Chicken Meshwi over rice which was a huge portion and had some great authentic flavors! Others in family enjoyed the Chicken Shwarma, the red (meat) sampler, and the green (veggie) sampler. The grape leaves are also really good! I think everyone left with leftovers and we were also given free dessert at the end of our meal. That gets an extra star from me!! Highly recommend! If I lived here I'd be a regular! read more

There are a number of great middle eastern restaurants in the Lansing area, that have much better service. We went there with a party of ten people (two families) and told them that we we would be putting the orders on two checks. The waiter took the orders separately. The first group got their orders pretty quickly, but the rest of the orders didn't arrive until almost 20 minutes later. My son's order didn't come out with second batch, and he wasn't served his food untl 15 minutes later. By that time, everyone else had long since finished their meals. I went to pay the check and noticed they overcharged us by $15. When I pointed out the mistake, the waiter (possibly owner?) insisted it was correct, and wouldn't charge us the correct amount, even when I showed him on my phone's calculator. read more

I loved this place! The prices were good and the food was great. Around $7-10 for a dinner meal which includes your entree, hummus or fries, and a salad! I don't remember the name of the salad I got but had wedges of veggies like cucumber and tomato with a citrus zest to it. The regular hummus that they have is so delicious and they give you plenty of pita. It's different than a lot of hummus I've had though; it has a heavy sesame taste to it. I got some kind of taste tester with rice and meat mixed together, kafta on a stick, and stuffed grape leaves. It also came with a garlic sauce (amazing). The stuffed grape leaves was ok but nothing to rave about. They give you quite a bit of food and I had leftovers for lunch the next day! Aladdin's in the Frandor shopping center is a tried and true Lansing staple for my fiancé and I. Their food is always excellent- much better than Zaytoon's in our opinion, which is overhyped. Everything we've ever gotten from Aladdin's has been very good. Their chicken shawarma is tender and flavorful, the hummus has just the right amount of smoky tahini flavor, their tabbouleh is fresh and lemony, the grape leaves are well-seasoned. Their falafel are always crispy on the outside and never dry on the inside, the garlic sauce is awesome, and the combo platters give huge portions of food for an incredibly reasonable price. Their mackloubeh is the best! Truly, the only complaint we could make is that the pita bread is the flat, thin kind (we prefer fluffy pita)- but it does make it easy to eat things with your hands using the bread as a utensil for grabbing some hummus, rice, and shawarma all in one bite. Finishing your meal with a piece (or two!) of baklava is a must! Cannot recommend Aladdin's enough. read more

Everytime that I order shawarma from new locations, it's different so I never know what to expect. The food was very good, although the chicken was a bit dry. All the food here is very good and the menu offers lots options (non-meat as well). The meat grape leaves (and non-meat grapes leaves) are really good, ias well as the tabouli, fatoush, hummus, gryos, meat and potatoe stew, falafel, kibbe, etc. It's all great. The service has been efficient and friendly consistently that last 10 times I have been here over the last year. Many folks get take out verses eating in. Only draw backs for me is that you can't get a beer (no alcohol) with your meal. This place is not fancy, very casual and I have never had to wait to get seated for dinner. The crowd is diverse - students, shoppers, professionals, young and older clientele as well as many different ethnicities - all enjoying the food the same food!
