I absolutely love this place. The decor is a bit boring and the furniture is a bit uncomfortable. The temperature is on the cool side as well but the service and food more than makes up for it. Every time I go in there, the owner and his employees are very friendly and engage in conversation. A few summers ago when the temp was over 100, we went into the restaurant and ordered food along with water. The owner insisted we also have some sweet tea to help cool us down due to the high temps outside. Normally I go to Aladdin's Express downtown and I tend to get the same dish every time, chicken schwarma salad, but Aladdin's doesn't necessarily have the same items on their menu. The guy at the desk said they would still make it for me. I picked the kind of salad I wanted (Lebanese), they added boneless baked chicken, hummus, and garlic sauce. Really awesome spot in Frandor near Blaze Pizza! The food was above average for Mediterranean/Lebanese cuisine! The restaurant had beautiful murals painted on the walls, but the lighting was a little bright and the seating was a little dated. We ordered a few items so we could try a taste of everything and everything was really good. The lemon and lentil soup reminded me of chicken lemon rice soup but with lentils instead of rice and a touch or curry. The hummus was delicious and the grape leaves were great, too. The fattoush salad dressing was tasty as well. I liked my meat and eggplant stew entree but it was a little greasy. My boyfriend ordered the 'pick three' dinner and felt like the shawarma wasn't really as good as other shawarma he had had before. He said it tasted like boiled chicken instead of the traditional seasoned and shredded chicken you would normally expect. The kabob and the grilled chicken breast/fingers tasted about the same to me but were cut differently. The grilled chicken breast/fingers had slightly more spice to it than the kabob. The baklava was really good and I personally preferred the pistachio over the walnut. All together I give them a solid 4. We will probably go back to try other menu items as there were a lot of things I had never heard of or tried before! read more

The carpet needs to be changed as it is quite old dirty and outdated. The bathrooms dirty and very dark. The staff was friendly and service was good. Would probably return if I was in the area. This is my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in EL! Friendly wait staff and timely service. I get the vegetarian sampler and WOW, it slaps. From the Greek salad, to the babba ghanoush, hummus, falaffel and grape leaves I can't get enough. I will add I'm very critical on my falaffel and Aladdin's makes it very well, not too crunchy and just the perfect flavor :) read more

Best hummus in town hands down. I love taking my friends that are visiting from out of town to Aladdin's since it is local, affordable and tasty. I normally order the vegetarian sampler so people can try everything. Another go to for a nice lunch is the chicken schwarma sandwich. The service could be improved, but it is a very casual place, so I can deal if the server isn't very conversational. Whenever I go in for food I make sure to get an order of hummus and pita to go, I recommend you do the same. read more

Not authentic, in my opinion, coming from the Middle East. The shawarmas are weird, they put lettuce and cucumber in them which isn't a thing. The sauce they put in the shawarmas too isn't actually a garlic sauce or tahini, it's more like an aioli. The grape leaves are fine, stuffed cabbage a no! The kofta sandwich is also really weird, we don't put bell peppers in kofta sandwiches, don't know why it's done here. Hummus is bland. Definitely won't be going back. read more

So I have been eating here for years and since the new owners have taken over the food is FANTASTIC!!!! I eat here every lunch and dinner I love their food. They take so much care in every dish they make and now they buy nothing but the highest grade food and to top it off they are the nicest guys. I see other reviews that are not so good and I am sure they are fake because the complaints are not consistent with the food or the way these guys run their restaurant. Everything was very good. Great service too. Had the tabbouleh salad, which came with complimentary hummus, pita, and Turkish coffee. The Turkish gyro was great. I think they make there own pita bread. They must have a tandoori oven. Will definitely come back. read more

Food is good but if you go on a regular weekday late in the evening, the chicken may be on the drier side. Sometimes the falafel balls are not served with sides like pickles etc. I go there almost every week as I crave middle eastern food and there are limited choices in my area. Overall the service is excellent and the food is decent quality but it is not the best middle eastern food. However for the price you get good stuff. I would go there again, which i usually do. There is always so much delicious food on your table during a meal here!! And the hummus is so good you'll finish off the portion so quickly! I love the baba ganoush - I find myself dipping everything else I order in this! The cucumber salad with tomatoes is so fresh. I could eat all of their grape leaves for days! The best in Lansing, definitely - Woody's can't compare. The staff is mostly pretty friendly as well. The only issue is that on occasion I've been unlucky & gotten food that's clearly a little off (like the lettuce is starting to brown or the pita isn't as soft as normal), but I eat there quite frequently due to proximity to my workplace & things are usually delicious & fresh. I ordered the veggie platter (falafel, grape leaves, hummus and baba ganoush) and was able to substitute the salad with the crushed lentil soup. Both were amazing and extremely filling. The hummus was spot on as was the baba ganoush. I also ordered a rice pudding for dessert and that was decadent and not too sweet. Great food for a reasonable price - no wonder this is my favorite middle eastern restaurant in Lansing. read more

Everything I've had is extremely fresh, served very quickly and everyone who works there seems genuinely excited to see you. Heck, I was even handed a complementary coffee when I went to get my order! The falafel-and-eggplant sandwich is top notch: the falafel are crispy-crunchy on the outside, fluffy and very well-seasoned on the inside, and nestled in a pita with smoky grilled eggplant, garlic-tahini sauce and pickled turnips. Everything else I've had there has been perfect. The hummus and tabbouli are very good, but a bit overseasoned. I really love middle eastern food, and have had it at a lot of different places. New Aladdin's was definitely within the top 10 that I've tried. In addition to the good food, there were 2 main things that I liked about the place: 1. The prices were very low. 2. The menu was color-coded. Interior could use an upgrade, too much counter-top cluttered with beverage making equipment, etc., the cabinets are old and dingy. But I really like the food, and the price is right. Nope. Went here with four people. We all got something different and nothing was good. I got cracked bulgar wheat, meat kibbi and stuffed grape leave. Everything was SO dry that I asked for some labni and tahini. When the waitress went back to the kitchen the cook asked what the labni was for. When she said that I had asked for it he groaned and told the waitress to put the labni on my face. The place was totally empty and the cooks obviously didn't know that what they were saying could be heard in the dining room. The hummus was okay. Not hard to make good hummus. The pita was stale, all of our food had clearly been microwaved and was extremely dry and mushy. Super disappointing. read more

Put an order through at 3 PM for 6:30 PM delivery. 6:45 I call and get extremely rude service saying they don't work with Yelp and to call them. My server was nice but honestly I was really disappointed. The chicken shawarma was rather dry. My lamb kabob sandwich was overflowing with sauce and my lamb was overcooked. Not to mention that the prices are kinda high for what's supposed to be just casual dining. One dish for $16.99? That's ridiculous for the environment they provide. This is a marvelous Lebanese restaurant and our go-to place for Middle-Eastern meals. Don't miss the grape leaves, which are made fresh daily and have a delicate flavor and taste, unlike other restaurants which use canned grape leaves which taste like bicycle tires. The lentil soup is great and has warmed us on many a bitterly cold night. There is an enormous range of vegetarian dishes in addition to the standard ones of chicken, beef and lamb. You can order mix and match dishes such as grape leaves plus falafel. The falafel has a thin crust and is, in our view, the best in town.
