First the could have been improved...the unit's air conditioning was broken when we arrived. It was 80 degrees plus upstairs. Luckily we caught the property manager before he left for the weekend upon checking and he called his emergency repair service and It was fixed within 2 hrs. No extras not many bath towels no garbage can liners no toilet paper and our friends unit barely has any furniture. The bedrooms don't even have dressers. Ask before you come what is In your unit. 5 stars -- A Hidden Gem in the Keys!…read more If you're looking for a peaceful, affordable, and well-maintained getaway in the Upper Keys, Manatee Bay Marina, LLC is the place. The property is clean, recently renovated, and has everything you need -- spacious rooms, a pool, outdoor grills, and unforgettable water views. The owner clearly takes pride in the property as a whole and is very accommodating. He can recommend a fishing charter, nearby restaurants or stay on property and order or grill. It's all there for you! I even had to do some work and brought my computer and monitors and there was plenty of space and fast internet and then I popped right back outside for a sunrise and sunset, our puppy was loving the outdoors. The dock space was great. Rooms were so much nicer and cleaner and bigger than a "room" anywhereeeee near the price range. Location not to be beat. It's close to the hustle and bustle of the places closer into the keys heading south but it's also a quick trip to Miami. There's always uber too. A good mix between being lazy and relaxing and getting around on the boat day and night and if you want to go out for a meal or drinks or both it is there. Amazing ! Pics to come ! We spent our days kayaking, boating, and enjoying the peaceful vibe. It's a great fit for couples, families, or a small group of friends. The neighborhood is welcoming and quiet but never stuffy. The owner is incredibly responsive and keeps the property in top shape. Plus, they have more than one unit, which is perfect if you're traveling with others. Our daughter was recently married here and we did a full three-night resort buyout. While the property itself is absolutely stunning the nine months leading up to the wedding were incredibly frustrating. Communication was consistently poor--weeks would go by without any response. We were promised a Florida Resident Discount by two different general managers, but it was never honored. (This is a significant discount that we did not get as promised). In total, we went through four general managers, each making new promises that never materialized. Even weeks before the wedding, when we were trying to make final payment, we couldn't get a response. When I finally raised concerns with the newest manager, her response was, "I have like six brides all contacting me at once." With all due respect, that's not how you handle a time-sensitive, stressful situation for a bride and her family. To add to the confusion, their website still showed units available just days before our event--even though we had rented out the entire resort. The units themselves are not equipped as expected either--we had to go out and purchase basic items like dish towels, a dish scrubber, pot holders, and more. Their new lanai roof leaks and ruined a couple of the custom built items we thought were safely stored since it's a brand new structure. We unpacked the U-Haul when we got home and had cockroaches in a few of the things stored in the main house.

I showered for at least 5 to 7 minutes in just cold water and the only valve open was the hot side. I complained to management upon checkout. They later contacted me and claimed you just need to let it heat up and that they checked it after I left and there was hot water. I don't think waiting for hot water at least 5 minutes or longer is acceptable. I was given a $25 credit and I told them that I would never be staying there again.

Pines and Palms retirement community!…read more We've stayed here for a few years and always had a great experience... last year (2024) we were told that the resort would undergo a renovation and would be featured on HGTV's Restoration Island. We were excited about the new changes and rebooked for 2025. Fast forward to 2025, we arrived and were pleasantly surprised by the new look! the property looks great! Now to the bad.... the pool/bar. The property doesn't have a liquor license. therefore, if you like anything other than beer, you're out of luck. If you do happen to have a preloaded yeti with your favorite mixed drink, watch out! The pool boy will promptly call you out and ask you to stow it. Additionally, at 8pm the pool closes !!!!! No evening dips. I was told that was due to no attendant present. However, the beach is still open and "swim at your own risk" as if that's safer at night.... seems as if the unavailability to charge you $10 for a drink has out weighed your ability to use the pool. Additionally, pines and palms charter is no longer here, I was told the boat was sold, I was given a number to a captain that provides services to the resort, snorkeling/fishing and such. That person doesn't answer... You're better off going elsewhere. In the end, I'm sitting here writing a review while at the resort at 9pm, disappointed. It's a bummer, this place was a hidden gem.
