We made the drive down from Tampa, and arrived late afternoon. Guy checked us in and walked us down to Beach House 6. Steps away from the water, so nice to have coffee and breakfast at our little table in the mornings. The room was neat and clean, though could use ceiling fans to circulate the air. Kitchen has a sink, microwave, coffee pot and fridge. We brought our own Keurig to make coffee though. Quiet, old Florida vibe. Friendly people. Free breakfast on site. We drove to Publix to get supplies to make sandwiches for lunch and frequented local restaurants for dinner. We would stay again. read more

I recently stayed at this resort for one night. I found it to be outdated but in a nice location. In the morning when I went to take a shower there was no hot water. I showered for at least 5 to 7 minutes in just cold water and the only valve open was the hot side. I complained to management upon checkout. They later contacted me and claimed you just need to let it heat up and that they checked it after I left and there was hot water. I don't think waiting for hot water at least 5 minutes or longer is acceptable. I was given a $25 credit and I told them that I would never be staying there again. read more

We had a great experience staying here. The walls were thin so we could hear our neighbors at some times, but I think that has to do with the age of the buildings. The beach area is very nice, there are chairs for laying in the sun and a little beach that allows for easy walk out into the water. There were also kayaks available to borrow for use. We got there a little late for check in, so the hotel manager called to tell us how to obtain our keys after hours since the office would be closed (we arrived 15 mins after office closed). It was very basic amenities, such as a mini fridge, microwave, shower, bed, table, but we were there just for 2 nights and we had no issues. There was no view of the water, but I think only one building had that. Clean rooms and friendly staff. The free breakfast was also very nice. read more

This is a small motel in Key Largo and our room may have been the smallest I've ever been in. But I'm quite confident they have larger rooms here. The hospitality of the staff was fantastic. The motel has their own little beach and dock. A manatee actually swam up to the dock and was just steps away from us. It was a special moment. The motel room walls are extremely thin. The room was a little worn but clean. They have kayaks and paddleboards for use. I believe you have to pay to use the paddleboards. We took the kayaks out and it was great fun. They also have nice chairs, a couple of wonderful hammocks, and charcoal grills for use. It's a tiny property and a little rough around the edges but I would have no problem staying here again. We stayed here because it was close to the dive center we were taking a course at. Here's how it went: The Good: - The room was clean and had everything you needed for an easy night. Ours had a stove, microwave, and full fridge along with dishes. Not all the rooms have this so if you want it make sure you check. - Provided beach towels - Provided soaps and shampoos - Parking right next to room is available though first come first serve - Private beach with kayaks available and a pier - The decor throughout the resort was beach themed and fun - Breakfast included, but see below... - Located near lots of food options The Not So Good: - Breakfast didn't start until around 7:30. This was too late for us to use since we had to be at the dive center at that time. So if you have early plans, get your own breakfast somewhere else - Breakfast is very small with limited options. Get breakfast somewhere else - Hard beds - While most things are well maintained it did not hide the slightly run-down appearance of some things - Little expensive for what you actually get. I understand it is on a limited space key, and it is a tourist town, but it was still more like a motel and should have been priced accordingly Bottom Line: Good enough place to stay and it was convenient, but be careful of the price and bring your own food. read more

We stayed here one night to enjoy a stop on our way home from Key West. It is just what I imagined old Florida hotels to be like. It was clean and simple. Our room had a microwave and small refrigerator. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. We loved the small beach area with hammocks, chairs and tables. The kayaks were fun and we paddled around the area. The breakfast in the morning was at the tiki hut in the middle of the hotel area. Good coffee, muffins, and an egg dish/individual souffle. We found this place on a last minute decision to extend our stay in Southeast Florida. We arrived a little early and were surprise to get in our room. Eddie was awesome in getting us set up quickly. More time to enjoy this little slice of paradise! The little beach area was perfect for relaxing. The staff is so friendly and helpful. A light breakfast fare was included and cooked fresh dailey. Those frittatas were awesome!! The rooms are fresh and clean. Need that ice machine working!! A special shout out to my lady in the office who went on the hunt for a lost item of mine. Seafarer Key Largo Resort and Beach is a narrow piece of property running from the overseas highway to the north facing beach. There are a number of dwellings with stand alone rooms. Some had two rooms attached. We booked a standard large room but when we arrived the young lady said that they had a vacancy in a double bed room closer to the beach for $20.00 more. So we went to see both options. As we entered the original room my wife immediately had an asthma attack from the strong scent in the room. I do not believe that it was the fault of the Seafarer staff. I think a guest may have freshened the room but there was no way she could stay in that room. Fortunately, there was no trouble the other room but it cost us more for a bed we didn't use. The room was dated but adequate and clean. The lockset was not meant for an outside entrance but it kept the honest people honest. The attraction is definitely the small beach which featured a picnic table on a sea wall, a small wading area with a swim platform, picnic tables covered by thatched roofs and lounge chairs so you can lay out. We hit the local Publix market for some food and wine and enjoyed watching the sun set. After a good night's sleep in this quiet setting we packed for the next day and went to have the included breakfast. They have a breakfast counter in front of the laundry shack and put out frittatas and muffins along with some fresh fruit and coffee. It was nice to talk with the other guests but the local squirrels were crazy. One ran up a guests back to leap to a tree and then jumped to my right hand and spilled my hot coffee before preceding across the table and over the fence. I'd like to trap these squirrels and feed them to the tarpon. I do not know what makes the Seafarer qualify as a resort. There is no pool, no workout room, only a few kayaks and some snorkeling equipment in the way of water sport equipment but you do pay a resort fee. Overall the Seafarer isn't a bad place to stay but If I find myself needing a room in Key Largo again I will most likely try a resort with more amenities. read more

I would recommend going here out of tourist season for a more relaxing time. They have private beaches all along the key, but there is public beach access, and no one enforces it. So, just a heads up. Also, we got a sticker shock from the food costs, so bring your favorites with you if you can. read more

We have no idea how this place is getting such high ratings. We will not return. Our room was close enough to the main road that we couldn't sleep with the traffic. A truck going by sounded like roaring thunder loud enough to wake the dead. I usually sleep through any noise and this woke even me up. The rooms are run down and comforters appear as though they have not been cleaned in decades. The mattress was so worn it had a 1/2 foot human indentation in it in on the left side. Day two of breakfast the staff wouldn't make more frittatas. They said they had make a ton and would not make any more. Disappointing and rude. The good: This place provides a less expensive option. It has a very nice beach with plenty of chairs to relax. There is also a small dock island with two loungers on it with a good view of the sunset. read more

This place is very expencive for what they offer, they don't even have a pool. The beach is smaller than how it looks in the pictures, the kayaks are by timer even if nobody are waiting for them, if you put a spanish music in less than five minutes you have a personal next to you asking to lower the volume, BUT if the music is in English you have no problem you can up the volume all you want. Cleaning the rooms??? FORGET IT! Just towell change and that's it. If you are in the beach at 6pm they will close your umbrella like pretending for you to leave. Incredibly rude staff. We were passing through and needed to charge our electric car (down to last few miles). A charger came up on our map at the hotel. We parked and attempted to start charging. An employee (owner?) comes out and rudely asks if I have a room. I told him no and asked if I could buy something inside to charge. He doesn't answer but instead aggressively gestures to get out of here by throwing his thumb back. I then ask him if there is anywhere else to charge. He told me where a charger is. I tell him I don't think I have enough to make it there. He walks away. As we drive out the staff sarcastically waved at us leaving. We LOVED our time in Key Largo and mostly because of this place. It is quaint and a perfect way to enjoy the bayside sunsets, calm waters, beach lounging, kayaking, and feel like you're in paradise. The resort management were kind and helpful although, at times, hard to find. The front office was often left attended, probably because they are so hands on. We greatly appreciate their effort put towards saving water by not replacing towels and linens daily, however, a sweep of the room would be nice. They are upfront about not having daily maid service, so that was fine, but the sandy floor gets irritating. I would've been happy to sweep myself if there were a broom available in the room. We highly recommend Room 11! Its proximity to the beach was perfect. It's definitely worth the extra $. If lizards and the occasional bug in your room would bother you than look elsewhere but if you're easy going like us you will love the Seafarer! I'm so happy we found it. read more

No frills. But it has everything you need: A bed, a sink, a shower, a toilet, a TV with basic cable and some towels. It's small and the walls are thin but it seemed clean enough. Looks like it was decorated with linens and mismatched furniture from a thrift store. Or maybe it's just the same stuff they've had since the 80s. I had a lovely view of a wooden fence. But if you're on vacay in the keys, hopefully you're out enjoying the sights, sand and sun and not spending much time in your room anyways. The best spot in the complex to watch the sunset is the only hammock out back so get there early before the sun starts to go down. read more

Upgrade! My review and the Seafarer itself, that is. My second trip to the seafarer was just as enjoyable as the first and the owner Henry has had some time to make improvements to the property and rooms. Not that it really needed it, but we definitely noticed a difference. This trip we stayed in a smaller room since it was just my hubby and me. It suited us perfectly, with a comfy queen bed, fridge and microwave, and lovely renovated bathroom. A small table and chairs out front provided that much desired private outdoor space everyone seeks when enjoying the keys. Even the Beach area received a makeover since our pervious visit. The available real estate is bigger and there's a lovely floating sun deck. There's still a dock for the boaters. Of course, most of us are just here to enjoy the sunset with an adult beverage in hand, and the space does not disappoint. Hammocks, Adirondack chairs, and large wooden loungers abound. Even the guests seemed to be a bit better this time around. Did the prices increase? If so, not enough for me to notice. Without a doubt this is still a great price for a great vacation. Seafarer continues to be a work in progress - more because the owner likes it that way than because it needs anything else - so I look forward to whatever upgrades may be on the horizon. Bottom line remains - best for Beach bums on a budget, like me! read more

Struggled between 4 and 5 stars but decided on 5. A great throwback to the days of motor hotels on the Overseas Highway before the chains jumped in. You won't find a tiki bar here or a pool or a dance club or a restaurant. What you will find are clean, comfortable rooms with well manicured grounds and a friendly staff. You will also find affordable rates. And that, mi amigos, is a huge plus. I was surprised to see all the Weber grills around the property. They are charcoal so you will need to supply your own fuel. They also have grill utensils. Very nice touch. The morning breakfast is not a buffet or anything close to say a Hampton Inn. But it is sufficient and will keep you until lunch for sure. Be careful with the attack squirrels! LOL. There a couple beggars that expect handouts all the time. Might want to keep a few peanuts, unsalted, in your pocket. The "beach" is not what you would see in Daytona or Miami Beach. It's the Keys. It's a rock island. Nevertheless, the beach area at Seafarer is well maintained. In the summer months, the sun sets across the bay. Keep in mind, there is seagrass just a few feet into the water. It won't hurt you. In fact, I kind of like walking in it. We floated for almost an hour last night in the dark and even with the low light, we could see the bottom in 4-5 feet of water. No water critters will get you there. Some have complained about the lack of light at night near the beach area. Personally, I like it that way. Give your eyes some time to adjust and you will be just fine. We only stayed one night as we drove from Miami the night before en route to a dive trip this morning. If I ever want to stay in KL for a few nights, I would choose Seafarer. I spoke with the person at the hotel and they told me that I had to call Booking.com for them to cancel and refund my room. My wife and I were driving home to northern Florida after a two night stay at overpriced too touristy too much rudeness key west when we started yelping hotels in islamorada and key largo and found this gem - The Seafarer. Only planning to spend a night, we booked beach house 6 for two nights after walking around the grounds. On our second day, we booked for a third night. On the morning of our scheduled departure, my wife had to drag me into the car to depart. Scott and Christy and the whole staff were kind and accommodating. The grounds are kept clean and beach house 6 is literally steps from the water with a full sized fridge, king sized bed, fold out sofa and spacious bathroom. Kayaks, iguana watching (look in the trees) and hammocks are free. Plenty of grills are there for your useage and Mrs Mack's (restaurant featured on all sorts of TV programs) is about a mile down the road. We never have a bad experience the resort offers FREE breakfast every morning and kayaking rentals . The rooms are very cute and cozy and color full you get a old Florida keys vibe beds are comfy. We don't spend much time in the room only to sleep. They do have paddle boards but you have to pay to rent them. The views of the sunsets are breath taking . They also have barbecues all over the property great for grilling. My family and I love this place so much! We usually frown at any stay with the word "motel" label attached to it. But we're very glad we went against our judgment. The whole entire staff from top to bottom were very friendly and helpful. The smaller rooms are even seemed cozy and very cleanly kept. The free water sports rental was a definite plus to truly enjoy the private water access. The free breakfast muffins were freshly made and were delicious. We love the whole setup of this miniature resort paradise. We would definitely come back. I'm not going to lie to you and tell you this is the Hilton, because it isn't. It's got the old Florida feel to it, but it's perfect. The pictures uploaded do not give this place justice. The staff are amazing, friendly, and CARE about the property. EVERY DAY somebody was using a leaf blower, raking the beach, wiping down the tables, tending to the grounds, etc. I always saw SOMEBODY walking around doing SOMETHING! Anytime we had questions or needed something, they would stop what they were doing to assist us. I couldn't have asked for a better staff or place to stay. Now, it's set up like a motel with multiple buildings. We stayed in Apartment 15, right next to the office. The front room has a kitchenette, dining room tablet, couch, TV, and bed. There is a small hallway with a closet and mirror that leads to the bathroom, and another small bedroom with a larger bed. We had a microwave, stove, sink, fridge with freezer (full size), silverware, and plates/cups. The only complaint is that the bathroom is tiny without any outlets, and there is no lighting in the shower. We also had a little porch with 2 chairs and a table. The beach is of course man-made. There are several patio tables with tiki umbrellas hanging over it (with rope lights at night!). Several lounge chairs and Adirondack chairs. 2 paddle boards and several ocean kayaks to rent as well - FOR FREE! One day was so windy we could not take the kayaks out, but the next day we did and it was a lot of fun! The water was clean, clear, and warm for December. We saw pelicans, jellies, and coral.. no other wildlife. Unfortunately, everywhere in the area canceled all drives, snorkels, and glass-bottom boat trips, so kayaking and hiking is the best we got down there. We were tempted to stay at extra night, but didn't because of the lack of outdoor activities due to the wind. There are plenty of restaurants around. Publix is 10 minutes up the road for groceries. They had several charcoal grills on the property so we ending up grilling burgers and steaks! The office has coffee, juice, and muffins every morning. There is a washer and dryer if you need that they charge for. Everybody staying there was quiet and friendly. Parking is whatever you can find nearest your building, but it's not like you have to walk far at all. I HIGHLY recommend this place. Their online advertisements do NOT do enough justice. I was seriously so surprised and pleased when I arrived, that I wish I booked my entire trip here. I will absolutely be coming back, and I am telling friends and family that it's the perfect retreat from life. read more

This place was just perfect for us. It was my dog and wife, two friends and their dog. We had cabin #15 and it suited our needs perfectly. Henry, the owner, was very friendly and accommodating. The other guests were friendly too. I liked how they had kayaks you could take out for free and the fact that there was a kitchen inside the unit. Towels were fresh and felt new. I wish the screened porch had a door so we could keep the dogs in and the bugs out, but otherwise no complaints. Great choice for lodging in the Keys. read more

I have been hesitant to write this review for purely selfish reasons. Because I would prefer to keep a hidden gem like this hidden! We knew this was an old style Keys resort when we booked it, and we were not disappointed. This place takes you back to a time when families took road trip vacations and charming little places like this were the norm. When we arrived the computer was down and he couldn't access our reservations. Instead of making us wait around he asked us which bungalow we reserved and had staff take us down there. He said just stop back "whenever" and we will get you checked in! We were in the "Bonefish" and it was exactly as it was described when we booked it. Clean, roomy enough for four adults and our stuff, and the deck was HUGE! Bigger than our deck at home, complete with a patio table, 4 chairs, umbrella, chase loungers and a Weber Grill for our use. The whole resort is set in a lush, tropical garden that is impeccably groomed. All the staff were extremely friendly and put out fresh baked muffins and coffee every morning. Our very sweet and attentive housekeeper checked with us several times a day to see if we needed anything. The beach area is small, but never felt crowded, lots of seating, a swim platform, full dock, and two thatched roof tables areas for those of us who strive to stay out of the tropical Sun, and lots of chase loungers for those who like to layout in it. There are kayaks that are free to use that we took out to see the Manatees, and snorkeling around the area. The Sunsets from the dock at Seafarer are indescribable. You just have to experience them to believe it. The Sunsets down at Mallory Square in Key West are no better than what you get right here at the Seafarer so save yourself the drive! I wish someone had given me that advice before we wasted a day trekking down to Key West! So in summary, myself, my wife, and our two adult kids all agreed this was the best vacation we have ever taken. The friendly, laid back, just relax and be happy atmosphere of the Seafarer just cannot be found at the more modern resorts. If you are looking for a clean, reasonable, friendly, no frills place to stay in Key Largo you won't find anything better than the Seafarer Resort. read more

Sunset here, on the beach, with my dear friend was an experience I want to have again, and again. Worst part of the visit was missing the entrance and having to circle around to enter the property.
