We have been coming here for years and it's just crossed my mind that I have yet to review them so here it is: We transitioned to Alameda Animal Hospital after some poor encounters with other vets/hospitals and for us the team at Alameda checks all our boxes. We have a particularly special boxer female named Luna so we are regulars with Dr. Neal and the team at Alameda. They have helped us through her chronic allergies, spontaneous infections, flea prevention, and a very serious heart condition. Everyone goes above and beyond. Coreen at the reception desk probably has to hear from me the most and always asks how Luna is and never forgets to follow up with us when we have questions. Marlene and Maria also have to see us a lot and are always very kind and attentive. Dr. Neal is the best and Luna is comfortable with her and we make sure to recommend her to any one we know with a fur baby. While things at any vet can be costly, we do appreciate that they list everything out and give us time to choose what we will be doing and don't guilt us into anything (which was a huge problem at our previous vet). We bring our family's pets here as well when they have emergencies and it is clear to us that the employees at Alameda care about all the pets they handle. Not sure how you misdiagnose cancer for an infection... my dog is dead now because of this.

I was referred to this place by a friend when i told her how i was searching for a reliable and trusted vet. Upon arrival they immediately charged me for the exam and had me wait to be seen by the Dr. when it was our turn i explained to the Dr the issues my dog was having. She recommended multiple tests, x rays, etc and i told her up front i could not afford every single test or x ray and that i just wanted a urine sample taken for now so he could get treated. She leaves the room and another worker starts tallying up all the numerous tests and x rays and quotes me an outrageous amount. I again explain i cannot do x rays at this time and let her know what i was willing to pay at the moment. She then quotes me including the exam fee which i had already paid. This place is money hungry and i truly wonder how often they get away with charging people twice. I correct her and tell her i was already charged for the exam fee when i walked in and she says oh ok and removes the charge. I end up leaving my dog so they can get the sample and they never called me back for an update so i showed up hours later and they had barely began to get the sample. When the dr comes out she confirms from his urine sample he does have an infection but refuses to prescribe him anything unless he gets x rays. A total scam 300$ later i paid for the blood work and urine test for nothing because they wouldn't treat him for the uti they confirmed he had. Save your money and go to a real vet this place dosent care about your animals. read more

Avoid at all cost! No professionalism, horrible customer service, horrible recordkeeping, and front desk receptionist couldn't give us any solid answers. Felt like I was being scammed because they kept saying I needed to come back for more shots because according to them the hospital that I got the first shots with wasn't "recognized" by them, whatever that means. read more

The staff here are super sweet and empathetic. For once I didn't feel that my dog was discriminated against because of his breed. At other vets the first thing they ask me to do is put a muzzle on him. Here, the doctor took her time to handle him and trusted he was good. Her assistant was super gentle and sweet with him as well. The entire staff communicated very clear with me in regard to my boy's treatment and what the next steps might be. If I could give 0 stars I would... VERYYY unprofessional, as an Animal Hospital we expect the best care and quality treatment! That's not what we got at all. My family and I have had 2 bad experiences with each of my dogs! An incident occurred when using the syringe (SHE) tried to put the IV AND LITERALLY RAN OUT THE ROOM from my dog after dropping the IV on the floor (thinking my dog was going to attack her & because she mentioned she was scared of big dogs?) my dog did absolutely nothing because she was SICK then came back in and used that same IV... from the floor. AND SO MANY MORE INCIDENTS! It's ridiculous.If you love your pets and want them handled with CARE take them elsewhere, this place isn't for you. read more

Im so thankful for this place ! I was calling around a lot of Vet places and they wouldn't take me in for my Sick kitty and I was so worried and upset for my Cat . This is the only place that did an excepting to squeeze me In for a check up for my cat . This place is horrible. Avoid at all cost. They do not care about your dog. My dog went a month ago to get all his shots and they claimed they did deworming and charged for it. Soon my dog has worms and is in a bad condition. They also never answer the phone so if you want to make an appointment you have to drive there directly to them just for them to say they don't have any appointments until a week or more. Leave a message? They don't even call you back. This place is bad I'd rather pay a little more at an animal hospital who actually cares about my dog. read more

This place does not care my dogs nor the customer experience. They just want money. Check out the other reviews of over charging! I came in for flea bath during this hot summer , they added an exam for potential ear infection. That's alone is $150 with medication another $130. Called back to get medication later when I can financially pay during the pandemic and they wanted to charge another exam for the same reason. The women in the front office are rude, I showed up from an emergency hospital I had been at since 12:30am, at 9am with my dog, who still had a catheter in her leg, I had no appt. so I understand having to wait, but the way she spoke to me, maybe they could squeeze me in if their 10am appt didn't show, and still no guarantee I would be seen, then she turned away from me to talk to the other women in the office, just like that. If you want to be treated like shit, by all means, go here. It's the smallest amount of power I've ever seen go to someone's head, it was truly magnificent. I received a big glossy(pricey) post card to come try out this new management, so I hope whoever is in charge knows their money was well spent. I have gone to Dr. Gibson for over 15 years, with different dogs, never had a problem. I currently have two dogs. In January 2018, I took my male dog to the Alameda Animal Hospital for Rabies Vaccination. Dr. Gibson took his temperature, listened to his heart gave him the rabies vaccination (3 Years) and I was charged $13.00. In April 2018, I took my female dog to the Alameda Animal Hospital for Rabies Vaccination. A female doctor took her temperature, listened to her heart and gave her the rabies vaccination (1 Year) and I was charged $52.25. I was instructed to wait in the lobby for the rabies certificate. It was then I was informed that Dr. Gibson had retired and sold the business and the price had increased 4X. read more

Though this hospital couldn't help my dog, it was such a pleasure coming here. It was very very very clean, professional,efficient, and no wait time. Dr. Neil and Ari were very nice to my dog and I. My dog was bleeding, as I was trying to wipe it Ari told me it was OK not to be embarrassed that was her job that they would do it. This vet hospital smelled clean it smelled good , as I walked in the room the doctor was there already. My family has been going to Dr Gibson since I was a child and I've continued seeing him with my pets. He was a great Vet and I hope he enjoys his retirement. But we do love the new Dr and staff. It's a brighter, friendlier atmosphere overall and they are all very compassionate. The Prices are still reasonable, even though it is busier now. (And the new tech did a much better job on my dogs nails than the one Dr Gibson had do them.) We've had several visits since Dr Neal took over, and my parents had to have their dog put down. I loved this place.....the vet, the staff, all were pet friendly and understanding. they made every effort to help me and work with me to get my dog's ears taken care of. My dog completely freaks out normally , when it comes to his ears so I did not know if anyone could help him !
