This Clinic has been around for many years. I've been bringing my dog here for 4 years. I was recommended by my neighbors. Dr Sal is an absolutely wonderful Veterinarian. He has great compassion & expertise in his field. I really like him. However, getting an appointment is pretty much impossible the same month. You can go in a as walk in, but I must warn you, you will spend hours waiting. Even when you have an appointment, you must first text the number on the window to let the office staff know your in the parking lot. Then in turn, even if you have a time scheduled appointment, you must wait in your car to be asked in. Sometimes more than a half hour later. I wish they had a better system, it's very uncomfortable for an animal having to wait so long to be seen, not to mention the inconvenience to the human. I have tried the drop off system in the past too. I dropped my dog off at 9:00am and by 3:00pm she had not even been examined! They have plenty of staff members on site, so I'm confused as to why the delay when the dog has been there all day! Because of the overbooking or walk ins may take priority (even if not an emergency) has led me to seek other alternatives. The additional cost out weigh my anxiety & frustrations when my dog needs help. I leave this review to help others make up their own minds. It took me a month to get this appointment, I've already been waiting over an hour and haven't been called yet. You can't wait in the waiting room. Dr. Sal is a great vet if you're able to get an appointment. He is very thorough with his examination and asks questions to effectively diagnose his patients. He is also very knowledgeable and takes his time to educate pet parents. I really appreciate Dr. Sal for his honest examination and how he did not try to upsell the visit with unnecessary things. However, the first time I came in as a walk-in this was a whole day thing. The system used for walk-in is not it, a lady standing in line admitted she woke up at 5am and sent the walk in "check in" text from her home... when I asked the staff how they verify patients are there when they send the text she said they don't, i explained to her how I was there first that morning but the other person texted from home, she responded with they are not supposed to do that.. my suggestion, place a list outside have walk-ins sign in... This morning I tried to schedule an appointment to take my sick cat. 55 minutes waiting... needless to say I could not continue to wait and opted to take him to another vet in Bellflower. The other office also placed me on hold, came back to take my call, scheduled my boy for today and the call concluded in a total of 7 minutes. Well everybody I spoke to in the waiting room were thrilled with the doctor. Some have been seeing him for up to 30 years. Fortunately the day I went there were two dogs that got their first thing in the morning that had to be put down so put them behind schedule quite a bit. I loved the music. The people were so kind and the animals and the waiting room were so cute. I am taking my Pomeranian in for his first exam and his flea tick and heartworm medicine to get a prescription to be refilled. You won't believe what I paid. $50! The last veterinarian I took the doggy to was charged me $50 just to write the prescription without seeing the dog which they wouldn't do of course. So refreshing and such a delightful man. Highly recommend just be prepared to wait. read more

The vet seems good, but the wait is wild. Even with an appointment, just make sure you give yourself at least 3 hours, that's how long my appointment was today for just an ear follow up. The customer service is terrible. I started coming here about two years ago. Although the doctor is phenomenal if you can get in to see him trying to get to see him is next to impossible. they're always booked out at least a month for an regular appointment but they take walks lol here's where the problem occurs. You have to come in first come first serve in the morning if you have something that needs to be addressed. The protocol was you text when you get there before they open and then they take you when they can at least that's what it used to be... I was told a Sept 29th that I needed to be there physically with my dog in the parking lot when I text even though I live across the street! Before I've waited five hours to see the doctor. That day I couldn't get in and was going out of town. So, I listened and followed the instructions my dog had to sit with an ear infection for a month before I could take the time out to sit in their parking lot and wait for an opportunity to see the dr. I felt terrible but he's been the only one to really get rid of these infections. Today was the day I have the time. I get there I text, I wait, I get a text back saying their policies have changed. There was no appointments. They had earlier texts before mine at 5 AM and no longer are accepting morning walk-ins never once did they text their list of patients letting them know that their policies have changed. I sat for an hour in the parking lot waiting for a walk-in while I watched people pull up and walk right in before I went in and asked appointment then the receptionist was rude to me when I walked in telling them that I was following there protocol. I've never been so angry. I hope they go out of business. Terrible customer service. I will never be back. I would hope you do support them either. read more

This is THE WORST veterinary experience that we have had. An appointment was scheduled for 10:15 a.m. and at 12:30 p.m. we were still waiting. Looked around for places to put my dog to sleep since he hasn't been himself for the past year, he's old and went blind and deaf and was just in discomfort. It was a hard decision to make but many suggested this place. Do not come here to put your dog down. Had an appointment at 5pm. Waited until 6:15pm to be taken in an additional hour to actually put my dog down. The Dr was nice but they need to be more thoughtful in this process cause the wait did not help with the hard decision. Hoping no one else has to go thru this. You get what you pay for, would pay more in the future for a better experience, especially for my dog knowing he wasn't home and in a different place for an hour not knowing what's going on. read more

My last visit here was the worst! Read my previous review to know that I was in favor of this office but now I'll NEVER go back! I like Dr. Sal- he's a nice guy, but does that make him a great vet??? I can't find his credentials anywhere. He has a ton of awesome reviews here on Yelp so I must be crazy right?! Well how is it that the first dog I brought to Dr. Sal had a condition that he's "never seen before"? My second dog that I brought in also had something he's "never seen before". Both ailments were completely different for both dogs but since he's never seen the conditions my dogs, I guess my dogs are aliens? Or, could it be that Dr. Sal doesn't have an array of experience? Hmmm. Sure, vaccinations, routine exams, flea treatment- go get it done here- especially if you're looking for the lowest cost. I mean, that's why there are always 20 plus people waiting to see the vet, right? Or is it really because he's just the best vet around? I was a walk in and that means that I was going to wait ... and wait ... and wait. Ok, no problem, I was mentally prepared to wait, but during that wait I started talking to other people who were also walk ins and waiting like I was. In total, I waited for 3 l o n g hours. The wait here is Worse Than The DMV! I learned that some of the people who arrived way AFTER me had a special relationship with either office staff or Dr Sal himself. So .. they went in before me. It's clearly posted on the wall what the order is but that was not true in my case. How disappointing and dishonest! Remember, I waited 3 hours!!! Apparently there are those who are VIP. Fast forward.. 5 minutes with Dr Sal. Left my dog to be shaved (wasn't told about nail clipping- more on that later). Told to call at 3:30 (it was noonish when I left). Where's the customer service? I have to call to retrieve my pet?!! Shouldn't you call me as a courtesy? This business is all about profit and volume. Bring in all the pets, collect all the money. Rather than paying a higher price for caring, loving care for our fur babies, people resort to cheap cheap cheap prices! Hence, this place! So I called at 3:25, no answer. Went to the office to see if my dog was ready. Overstressed office lady asks asian dude who replies "they're supposed to call at 3:30, not come in. Dogs still on the table". Office lady: "when will he (dog) be ready?" "Call around 5". - snarky asian dude. If you're still reading, I'm sorry for this long review but you must now why I think this office should be shut down. No customer service No loving or genuine concern for your animal Overbooked, overstressed, overworked staff Called at 5 to make sure my dog was ready to come home. Yes. Drove to office, waited another 15 minutes to pay $200 plus dollars to be told that the Dr wants to talk with me & will be with me "shortly". I waited another 20 minutes. All while about 7 other people were helped before I was called in. W t f?! So now I'm highly annoyed, but still trying to be cool because remember, this is my vet. I like this office. Results: Dr Sal said he had to look up online to find out what was going on with my dog because again, he's "never seen anything like this". Really?! In all of your 20, 30 something years in business as a vet???? I could've saved myself $200 plus dollars and searched the Internet myself! When my dog was brought to me, I didn't recognize him at all. He was completely shaved down, whiskers and all. After bringing him home, about an hour later, all of his paws started bleeding. I didn't know his nails were clipped. I didn't know a powder to prevent bleeding was put on his nails. (I learned this all the next day). I was not told about the procedures that my pup endured. My poor dog! I noticed his collar was missing when I got home but didn't want to call the office back or go back to get it as it was almost closing time for them and I didn't want to waste, I mean wait there any longer. Called the next day and was told the collar was on the dog when he was returned to me. Um. No it's not. I'm looking right at him and do you think I called you for fun? I was put on hold again and when receptionist came back on, she told me, "they said the collar was on him". Ok. I'm done with you people. My dog looks and feels worse now after visiting the vet. I love and appreciate this clinic. What I like most is they don't try to sell you a ton of BS that you really don't need. Yes, the wait times may at times be difficult. But given the size of their facility and how many people/pets it can accommodate I truly appreciate the services they offer. I come to them for my two husky puppies. They even got neutered there without any issues. Just recently my 14.5 year old chihuahua mix got sick - took him to some other urgent care vet hospital and they gave me two options: pay almost $2k just to see what's wrong with him or put him down that night. Super drastic! Got me all sad for nothing. We declined their services, paid for their initial review and called it a night. Waited until Wednesday to take our elderly dog to this clinic and yes, the wait time was hellish. But they didn't try to sell all these other options. It was quick and straight to the point. The doctor was even kind to say that putting him down will come down to what our family decides, but since they cannot operate him due to his old age and multitude of issues, to offer him lifelong meds that are sooo affordable. All of the employees were very nice, and I was in and out in no time. I scheduled an appointment for Tuesday morning (the first slot available), dropped off my baby, and then picked him up when they texted me! As a first-time client, I enjoyed how they took the time to complete a quick check-up before beginning the neutering surgery; they even shaved my dog's paw pads and cut his nails (which I find impossible because my dog always wants to bite me)! My dog's neutering procedure was almost two weeks ago, and he's healing nicely! I strongly recommend you to bring your dog/ cat here for spaying or neutering! read more

My neighbor referred me to Dr. Sal, and I am so happy she did! Before scheduling an appointment, I contacted 4 other veterinarians closer to my home before committing to the 10 mile drive. The cost was significantly less at Animal Care Clinic. Don't let the appearance or the location of the office deter you in any way. My sense is that Dr. Sal cares about animals more than a fancy office in a posh end of town. That is a sign of a special vet. I also had a special situation...I rescued a stray cat. It took me 1.5 years to get this kitty to trust me enough to eat the food I left out for him and eventually come inside my house and stay. I had no idea how he would behave being in a pet carrier and traveling in a car. Well, I got him there and warned them. They did amazing! The staff talked to him like he was their own pet. This practice is very small and very busy so it can be difficult or frustrating at times trying to take your pet in but it's busy for a reason. Most things are reasonably priced or very cheap and the staff tries their best to save you money if you need a costly procedure. Dr sal seems to genuinely care for all animals and he and the rest of the staff are very good with cats which has been difficult to find in my opinion. People trust this clinic and love the prices so you may have to wait in your car or outside. Just be aware, give the staff grace, and don't be a dick. read more

No issues coming here in 2019/2020. Someone I spoke to in early May said the soonest appt for a neuter is May 19th- longer than I wanted but booked the appt, got all the instructions and prepared my boy for his appt. I showed up at 8:20 for an 8:30 check in, Vanessa put me on hold as I waited thirty min for a response as to why I don't have an appt. Extremely frustrated with the lack of training, and how scheduling gets messed up. Such an easy job they have- schedule accordingly and ensure appts are kept. She accused me of not having an appt and said the "so called appointment" You have doesn't exist- why would I make the drive from OC I know better than to ensure I have an appt before I go anywhere. Extremely annoyed and another's here have probably experienced this. Don't bring your pets here- so many other cleaner vet clinics with way better service. I even had vaccine appts for my Other two small dogs- she said maybe try to do a walk in tomorrow. Y'all I had appointments and could verify the last time I called. I have been bringing all my pets here for 20+ years. We all love Dr. Sal! He is very understanding and caring not only for his furry patients but also the owners. He takes His time with the animals and answers all your questions and will give you treatment options if needed, his prices are very reasonable and affordable. The staff are pretty nice. The only thing that needs improvement is the wait time which can be quite long even with an appointment but without an appointment "it can" take several hrs. depending on how sick his patients are. But overall it's all worth it so I don't mind. read more

Dr Sal is great! On any day its usually a long wait, which is unfortunate, but its well worth his expertise and trustworthiness. My 11 year old dog Cocoa, who is a 12 lb. Poodle/Bishon mix, just got her teeth cleaned on 4/17/2019. My complaint: I was the first person to drop off my dog at 8:30am, with an appointment, and yet my dog was barely being worked on at 3:07 pm when I called to check on her. That mad me upset. I expected her to get worked on early morning, since we were there first with an appointment. I completely understand an emergency overpowers all appointments and walk-ins, but over 6 hours before she got started on is ridiculous! My Cocoa got her revenge, by non-stop barking when she awoke from the anesthesia... lol! They quickly called me to come get her at 3:38pm. read more

Unfortunately didn't get the chance to met the vet as I went in as a walk-in and they refused service so this review is based on their COVID policy. I called 2 separate times 2 days before coming for a walk-in appointment and they suggested I come at 8:15a as they open at 8:30a. When 8:30a rolls around, someone comes out and says "1 person at a time, walk-ins are closed for the day"...Um I'm confused? Apparently you need to text their # when you arrive to set your place in line. That policy is all good and fair but maybe you should post that on a sign or mention it to your customers when they call. It saddens me to write this review because two of my dogs were attended by Dr. Salazar and he is a good vet, there was always a problem with the wait time, but the doctor was good and the prices were reasonable, compared to other vets. I took my dog today having seizures and they did not see my dog. The problem is that they have too many customers and employees working at the clinic are not enough for the demand. Therefore, the employees are overworked and tend to take their frustration with the customers, which is not right. It takes an average of two months to get an appointment. They do accept walk-ins, but the process is a pain: You need to get outside the clinic by 6:00 a.m. text them to let them know you are outside then wait outside until 8:30 a.m. when they open the clinic; then they check if they have space to take you in and you have to wait all morning. At times you wait 6 to 8 hours. The prices are not that affordable anymore and the customer service is terrible. Sadly, the doctor does not realize how the clinic is managed, or he does but at the end of the day is a business and the important part for them is.... $$$ read more

I have been coming here ever since I got my dog Cody. He gets his shots here and also got neutered here. He also had some digestive problems as a puppy and was treated here. I really like coming here and super close to my house. Set an appointment if you dont want a super long wait. Its still a long wait with an appointment but not as long. Wednesdays seem to have a longer wait because office visit charge is waived for vaccines. But id contact them for details. I actually love their new Covid 19 system. I didnt have to linger by the door and me and my dog got to chill under the shade until they called us in. Theres no one in the waiting room and its sooo much better. My dog used to get distracted by dogs while im trying to pay/checkin and now he just sat there until he went in the exam room. I also think it makes it easier for people with dogs who have behaviour issues. Now they dont have to walk through a cramped waiting room full of people/dogs. Prepare for the wait , once they call you youll forget all about it . I took some water for my dog and he pulled through fine. But again, get an appt. Also neutering is a breeze here. You drop them off at 9am and come back in the afternoon to get them. Price was reasonable as well. He came out happy with his tail up so I know he was treated well. Thank you ! read more

I had my cat spayed and I am very happy with the services provided. The tech and desk staff was very knowledgeable and listened to my concerns. When my cat came home, she was not stressed at all, just went under my table and rested. The price for spaying is reasonable. Your pet will receive loving care at the clinic. I have called and visited vet offices in the past and this one is is by far the best. My cat has 3 kittens and I will take them there for the care they deserve. Took my pit here for a hematoma which wasn't that big when I took her in , they said they couldn't drain after which looks like her ear was Squeezed now her whole ear is full of blood . I wouldn't recommend taking your pet here now he says she has to have a mandatory surgery when it could've just been popped from the beginning . Look at her face in pain .
