Response. All she needed to say was, "I'm sorry my original email felt misleading, come on back when you can and we'll help."
Maya D.

Update is for the customer service, which a few other reviews have mentioned needs work. I sent an email about needing help with a dropped stitch, and was told I could come by for "drop-in" help on Wednesday night. When I rearranged my schedule to come in, I was told I would need to be part of a class, pay $8, and then participate in the class to get any help. With a toddler in tow, I said I couldn't stay for the full class. They made it clear I should leave (no offer to help me as I browsed the yarn, or offer to at least look at the single dropped stitch and tell me if it's fixable or not, or alternative time to come in, or an estimated wait time). When I replied to the email saying I wish I'd known the set up before driving over, I got an (unsurprisingly) defensive email. Based on other reviews and the clientele of the shop, this is a pretty traditional knitting store and community. If you are newer to the craft or fall outside the stereotypical demographic of a knitter, there are friendlier and more inclusive yarn shops in Los Angeles. I won't be returning to this one. The comments the owner left are untrue (see email regarding $8 and class format; I was also told she could "go get a chair from the back" if I signed in, paid the fee, and participated in the ongoing class). Ultimately, it's on customers to have their own experiences. I have no doubt some people have a great experience here; I can only speak to my own.

This place was welcoming, warm and cozy. A secret corner store by the marina to explore your love for fabric, colors, and crafts whether you knit or crochet this store invites you to explore with open arms. The pockets of cubes to touch and feel the fabric allowed me to let my imagination explore and discover what I could create. I recommend coming in to know you will spend money but your creativity will be there and the staff are always available to help you bring your creativity to life.

Everything here is reasonably priced & affordable. Pretty much all of my special occasions always had something from Fabric Barn. I have purchased 100s of spools of ribbons, personalized ribbons, baby shower favors supplies, party supplies, bags, round mirrors for centerpieces, wedding accessories including my veil and (believe it or not) my wedding dress. Service is hit & miss. Depending on the clientele & how busy it is, you may get helped quickly or you have to wait until the ladies finish chatting with coworkers or clienteles. Parking is tight on weekends but the flow of customers coming and going out of FB has never made me drive around the block more than once or twice. Because FB has always had what I needed. I have never been to go downtown to the Garment District. I have been living in SoCal for 33 years! Check them out!

Missing Joan Fabrics? This is your place!…read more My partner wanted to pick up some fabric and thread. Almost all of the stores have faded away in favor of Amazon/ online. To me this was a memory of being out with my mom in the old days before Bezos. All sorts of little party favors and decorations. We walked out with thread, cloth and Mardi Gras decorations. Great service and I don't think the prices were too bad. All that was missing was mothball smells. Long Beach parking on the street, maybe a quick park by the bank across the street. ****There's a few spaces off the alley in back.

There are many vintage shops on Fourth Street, which makes me so grateful and happy. In the 1980s, we would need to drive up to Melrose Avenue in Hollywood to get this kind of quality vintage apparel and curios. Of course it was an adventure to get all the way up there into deep LA, find parking and browse through the goodness of vintage clothing - the styles, the colors, the textures, the worn in qualities which no current items can produce. Now we have the same opportunity in good old Long Beach. Starday Vintage Too serves as a sweet option for those curious about vintage, about old-fashioned style, and how to reinvent it today. Yesterday I cruised in to the shop, drawn in by the window display, which is ever changing, and always super -stylish. Their usage of mannequins is both haunting and delightful. It feels as though full stories are being lived out through their mannequins and the way they have styled them. The window display says so much about how the female owner (red haired and creative, Nicole) runs her shop: dynamic, thoughtful, retro-centric, and committed to the process of artistically offering vintage goods, highly curated, at fair prices. I just love to see their latest window designs, cruise around inside, chat with the friendly staff, and check out everything from studded belts to zipper boots, wigs to leopard print overcoats... just so amazing. To me, this shop sets the pace for the rest of retro row. It's the corner of 4th and Cherry, high traffic, highly visible and fantastic. Buying the goods isn't the point. Sniffing around, appreciating the items, their history, the store layout, and the entire in-store experience... Treat yourself to a visit. Good times!!

This led to me spending way too much time and money at LA Finch Fabrics on a random Saturday. This sewing based brick and mortar is 50/50 LA Finch and Sewing Lab. LA Finch specializes in all things sewing, selling all the necessities, quirky accessories, and a huge variety of fabrics for any project. I grabbed a new pair of sewing scissors, a rolling blade, and a grid cutting mat. Sewing Lab offers weekly classes for beginners and specialty classes for those looking to further their craft. They even host a monthly sewing club?! Such a fun idea for building community within the creative space. The perfect spot for all your sewing needs. LA Finch Fabrics over Amazon. All day, every day.

The next thing I knew I was forced into the car and found myself driving her to Los Alamitos. The store is actually a combination of two businesses; the LA Finch Fabrics store and also a sewing school called Sewing Lab, which has a separate Yelp listing (at https://www.yelp.com/biz/sewing-lab-los-alamitos-los-alamitos-2?osq=Sewing+Lab+Los+Alamitos). This quick review is just for the fabric portion of the store. They are a small shop, not nearly as large as JoAnne Fabrics was, but they have a surprisingly large selection of fabrics to choose from, as well as a vast array of remnants. My wife found several fabrics that she loved and purchased multiple yards of. The women who work here were extremely helpful and congenial, providing exceptional customer service. They also sell sewing machines and a plethora of sewing accessories. I think the non-fabric items are sold by the Sewing Lab side of the business but honestly I was a bit confused about the division, but it really doesn't matter as it's all available for purchase.

I reached out several times via email (only option offered) and they have ignored all my inquiries about returning the item.
