As a woman I was abused. I just left this auto shop and I'm angry and the worse part is feeling disrespected and taken advantage of. As I am providing plenty of pictures and I literally just left about 10 min ago, trust this review. I show up and he says 15 min, he took about 50 min total. He wouldn't give me a price ans finally i said I need synthetic and he said "yea you need synthetic for that car". I said how much, and he tells me a story about a big truck and amount of oil he would need for that big truck, but for my small Prius not too bad so only $70!!!!!! I was like okay and stayed quiet because my car is up in the air already ans well, I'm a girl I always try and he nice. I watch him like a hawk and he starts to act bothered that I'm watching him but because of his sketchy demeanor I watched the entire process and made sure he did his job. As he hands me my caul kissed because there is dark oil all on the inside of my Matta, steering wheel, shift handle , and even splashed against the back of my cars dash. He says "no wait don't go in yet!" And tries to hurry, gets a dirty rag, pours detergent on it, and begins to scrub my mats half assed!!!! I get in and say "will this come off?" And I asked him with attitude this time. He says huh oh yeah it wasn't me it wa arhat guy over there I had him check something ans he stepped all in your car with oil", then proceeds to try and scrub it again on his knees while I'm sitting In my cat so awkward. It still is dirty and the oil is smudged sadly. I just got Thai car from CarMax about 3 months ago:( Then I tell him "what is all this oil in here?" He says "oh that was already there that wasn't us" I say "no it wasn't dirty here on my dash when I got here" He says with a condescending smirk "oh come on" Then says "here let me get more cleaner" and runs to the back to try and get more. I tell "you know what it's fine I'll just use my sanitizing wipes I just want to leave, I know this wasn't here these droplets where not here it's all dirty". He reaches in to my car and scratches at my dash and says "oh that's not oil, those dots are like cigarette burns and see they indent because it melted that, it won't come off". I was like "what are you talking about this is a new car!" He says "oh really wow how much did you pay for it". I use my wipes to scrub the gunk off in front of him and he says "oh it came off!" I said "yes it was not cigarette burns it was gunk". I close my door and leave pissed off. My hand smell like oil, I used my wipes to wipe off as much as I could but my steering wheel smells like oils and a small part on my seat has a little smudge of oil. Idk what to do. I know because I'm a girl they Jacked up the price and completely took advantage of my niceness. I want a refund and to never go there again. Right now I'm going to pay to get my car washed and cleaned inside because what els can I do. So dirty and unprofessional. read more

I recently had a disagreement with Alamo Auto Care and wasn't happy about the way things went. I reached out to Alamo and ended up speaking with Dan who had nothing to do with my disagreement. Unfortunately, I took it out on him and even ended up calling him names. We ended up having a heated phone conversation. However, he called back and wanted to make things right between his owner and me. Though I disrespected him on the call, he made things right for me. I want to apologize to Dan and thank him for helping me to resolve my problem with Alamo Auto Care. This is my only "go to" auto repair business in the area. I will only go here because the owner (Dan) is extremely honest, trustworthy, experienced and he will only do what work is absolutely necessary (rare nowadays). He should be consulted when buying a used car before you buy, and have him check the car, if possible. He has saved me a lot of money using him and I know this because I have had quotes from larger dealerships. Dan treats you like an important person, not another number like the dealerships. Dan is absolutely the best!! He didn't even charge me anything after spending a good 8-12 hours of total labor when the dealership couldn't even find the problem!! The dealership changed out different parts of my exhaust system and charged me hundreds of $$$!! And they still couldn't get the car to pass the smog inspect! And then, they said the catalytic converter might have to be changed! This was after the 3rd and last time to the dealership which was the last straw and my brother-in-law suggested I call Alamo. Anyway after spending several hundred $$$ at the dealership Alamo only charged me about $60 to replace a part. read more

With less than 200 miles after I had a reputable shop do a valve job on my Toyota pickup truck, I needed a smog test at a Star testing center. I took it in to Alamo Auto Care for the test. Even though it passed 15 tests including all the emission tests, Danny Tram (Dan), the manager/technician did visual tests & came up with the following "questionable results" which caused it to fail: (1) Tampered (disconnect vacuum line) ; (2) Functional Check . . Mach Prob. . . Dan claimed the timing was off due to "mixed marks" on the timing pulley. Danny told me I would need a new pulley & told me to tell my mechanic that the timing was off. I took my vehicle back to my mechanic who retested the timing and found that it to be within specifications, and put it in writing. In addition there was no evidence of "mixed marks" on the pulley, nor tampered vacuum lines. I took a photo of the disputed pulley and there was only the factory mark. A bit latter I confronted Dan about his so called "mixed marks" statement & showed him a zoomed photo on my iPad & he still insisted they were there. I had irrefutable test results & photo. Danny wouldn't retest it for free even though his "so called evidence" could not be collaborated. On the same day I took the vehicle to another Star smog station and it passed everything. I sent Alamo/Dan copies of mechanic's report & the other passed smog report by certified mail & requested him to make a full refund. He hasn't complied. Some would say the visual failings were pure fabrication. This is why I rated Alamo at a "ZERO". read more

I tried this place about a month ago because I needed my smog done. I received quick service and sailed out the door with my certificate. This week, my husband's truck kept needing a jump to get going despite the new battery and great alternator. There was a drain somewhere, but he couldn't find it. Alamo had the car for only a couple days, found the issue and got it fixed right away. My husband said they were great a communicating the problem when they found it and despite the part being an expensive one to replace (not their fault, it just is), we still walked out of there feeling like we got a great deal on the service and efficiency. He was especially happy that the owner showed him the parts they removed from the truck, most shops don't bother! Awesome service! Brought in my Ml Benz for a smog and had the hardest time getting it ready. I recently changed my egr valve and made the mistake of resetting the computer instead of letting the cel light go off on its own.. I had not known about readiness monitors required to be ready for the car to pass emissions. I brought it in the first time and both staff members were very helpful. Sorry I was not able to get his name. They asked me how the car drove and I let them know I cleared the light recently and he informed me about the monitors. He hooked up his sensor checker to my car and it was not ready. He told me to come back after a week or so of driving to see if the sensors were ready.. daily driving and a certain drive cycles were required to trip the sensors to being ready.. I came back two times after and same process hooked up machine and no go.. I was getting frustrated but he assured me it takes time and that he had benz' in the past that took up to 6 months of driving.. I tried warming the car up driving a full tank back and forth to work and that did got the cat sensor ready.the rest were though. I ended up taking a longer than usual ride to tamecula (45 min freeway) from Buena Park and it did the trick. The cat sensor finally showed the ready symbol on my obd 2 sensor I ended up buying so I didn't have to blindly keep showing up. The great part about it was every time I showed up he never charged me for his time on hooking up the sensor and checking if the car was ready. He easily could have did the smog test and fail and charge me and make me come back for a retest, but he didn't. I truly appreciate the honest help and service I received. star and smog certified and will definitely come back for any Star smog checks I need in the future.. Cost is typical for my SUV 49.95$ plus 8$ certificate. I didn't mind as long as I passed. I had being going to Super smog in Stanton for years, which is a drive through service for my smogs but it is not Star certified. Do not go here. Didn't have a part (a filter) for an oil change, but neglected to tell me before starting work on my car. Nobody else was there and what should have taken 15 minutes turned into almost an hour long wait while the owner went to buy the part from some other shop. I would highly recommend this place. I had my brake pads replaced and Dan was so nice. He showed me how he turned the rotors and how shiny they were compared to the front tires which did not need brake pads. He did not charge me for new rotors, just the pads. He showed me the thickness of the new pads compared to the ones he replaced. I got my car back in less than an hour. The price was amazing compared to another place I first went to for an estimate. Not only that, but Dan told me I could drive my car for at least another month before changing the pads! How honest is that? He would be sending me away and maybe never seeing me again. I used to go here all the time with my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse . He always took care of me the best he could. My car always had problems that would pop up and I would go to him without an appointment. Even when he was busy with cars , he'd inspect my car to make sure it was safe to drive. And sometimes he would fix the issue right then and there if he could. My first experience with him was when my brakes went out, and I got a tow to his place in the afternoon. He quoted me a very fair price, and charged me exactly what he quoted me, and on top of it, he fixed them within the same day. From what I remember, he was on the verge of closing time and possibly over ! I can't exactly recall but I remember being so thankful and felt so apologetic because of it. He's the most honest, most reliable , and most knowledgeable mechanic I've ever came across. Unfortunately, I moved away up North and bought a newer reliable car, but if I still lived there, He would still be my main mechanic. If you want a mechanic that cares for you, he's the one ! And his staff are just as awesome of course ! No words can be enough to tell you how thankful I am for everything you've done for me!
