Line was very long, and before showing up(I am a Fl resident) I called Alamos corporate about the rental policies for this location. I was told with a credit card I would not need a return ticket. You all know the rest of the story from this point. Their deposit was $400...absolutely not. Went next door to Avis for cheaper rate at $30/day ev, people were nice, and deposit was as expected at $200. Alamo, please hire fluently speaking people when having them handle business. We could have for gone my wasted 30 minutes standing in line. We went to Florida from Wednesday evening until Saturday afternoon so just a few days. Got talked into getting the insurance coverage as we're not used to Florida roads, drivers, or the area in general as we weren't sure how much we'd need to drive. Think the total was about $150 including the insurance so not a bad cost for a rental. We made sure to fill the tank upon return as otherwise the paper said it would be $4.90 per gallon charge. Our paper said Toyota corolla or similar, but when we walked out to the lot the representative leading us just said pick whatever car you want. We were tired from getting off out 11pm flight and said whatever so she led us to a new Acura with various bells and whistles. Personally I feel the car wasn't a great choice as my dad/driver is 6'3" so his legs were pretty crunched, but he didn't care as long as the car worked. The lot is also the furthest from the Sanford airport so be sure to prepare for a long walk. I also think the signs need to be clearer for the return process as they didn't always mention Alamo so we missed our turn and had to loop back around when we realized the turn had to be it. Please note the pick up lot is not the same as the return lot so plan correctly when driving. They were open late and very friendly. read more

I'm getting the absolute run around on the vehicle we rented. It would NOT start when leaving a restaurant and called roadside through Alamo. They came out and got the vehicle started and told us not to turn the car off because it has a BAD battery and probably wouldn't start again. After several redirects through calling Alamo to remedy the problem and being on hold FOREVER we were told that Alamo would deliver a new vehicle in 2-4 hours. 2 and a half hours in, we received call from tow company that was supposed to deliver new car and that there was no one at Alamo in Jacksonville where Alamo told him to pick up the car. So now once again we are on hold try to get a good RUNNING car. Currently 10:45 PM Update when resolved 11:05 still getting run around. No one wants to help us. Call back tomorrow is response we are getting right now. Called in at 630 AM and have talked to 3 different people already and the second hung up on us. We haven't even been rude to them, yet! 3rd person has been helpful (so far), but still haven't got us a car. Never again. I will remember Alamo!!! read more

Had an economy reservation on Sept 15, 2023 with Alamo at the Sanford Orlando airport. They didn't have any economy cars available when I arrived (why make a reservation?). They gave me a free upgrade, which was nice, but when I got in the car, the AC didn't work and the outlet to plug in my phone had no power. I asked if they had any other cars available and they were able to put me in a car that had just been returned. Again, that was helpful. At return, I filled the car with fuel on my own as we had agreed to. When I got home I looked at my invoice which had been emailed to me and noticed that I had been charged for refueling at $5.46/gallon. It was a totally made up charge. I called customer service and was told they will credit my card for that charge. Hopefully that happens. I'm sure many people would not have noticed the deceitful and fabricated charge. We all have a lot of options when we rent a car. Its unlikely I will return to this place that tried to get away with over-charging. read more

Had an overall great experience here. Got a 7-passenger minivan for a week at only $300, thanks to Costco pricing. One of the parking lot attendants was mean at pickup, which could've led me to blasting Alamo. BUT, when I went to exit, the attendant named Sheila asked how my experience was, and actually seemed to care about my complaint. Great work, Sheila! Customers really appreciate when employees express concern over bad experiences, and nine times out of 10, we don't want anything more than a simple apology. Well, Sheila did more than that, even recording the violating employee's name. Return of the vehicle went very smoothly, with no suspicious charges. So, overall, good vehicle, great price, and a really special employee make this Alamo worth recommending. read more

Lately wherever we go, Alamo has been our best rental car option price-wise, and I really appreciate that! Booked online for a Thursday to Sunday rental, choosing a full-size due to 4 of us with bags. Note that Alamo is indeed at the airport, but a slight walk from the terminals. No problem for us. It's off by itself compared to the other rental car companies here, but if that's why we saved the extra bucks, I'm all for that tiny walk! Check in on a Thursday evening appeared to be a slight wait in line, but a nice gal led us to a kiosk where we were able to confirm our reservation and check in very quickly. We were then told to go pick our full-size car from the line of them available. LOVE the pick-your-own-car option!!!! The Nissan Altima we chose was so shiny and new it had just THREE miles on it. This made Driver Husband very happy (and gave his own Juke a run for its money). Slight dislike: Check out kiosk after choosing shiny new car. The guy working it didn't match the efficiency and likeness level we had already achieved here. Don't know how much of it was the car in front of us' fault, but when we finally got our chance to check out, we weren't feeling quick warm fuzzies. Nor were we offered a map or any other guidance...like WARNING us that there was a toll road up ahead that required exact change! Onward to returning rental car. Gal was efficient and friendly. Reserved a MIDSIZE car on the web site from Alamo to be picked up at the Orlando Sanford Airport (SFB) mid March 2020. We were helped by "Michell" who quickly told us about a SPECIAL that they were having: an upgrade to a standard size car for $15.00 more /day. For us that would have been an extra $162.00!! We declined, signed paperwork for our mid-size and walked out to the lot to get our car. A friendly gentleman escorted us to our car, which turned out to be a standard size vehicle. He replied to our questioning, "we do not have any mid size cars available right now." WHAT?? Hmmm, a little shady. read more

This is for wasting my time having me contact customer service for no apparent reason. I paid the rental, in full, as a package deal with my airline tickets. Surprise, surprise, surprise. When I show up to get my vehicle BAM!!! $80 in extra fees. Well at this point they have you over a barrel. You pay the extra $80 or walk around for the week I guess. On November 28th, I was flying from Springfield, Mo to Orlando, Fl. I had reserved a car with Budget at the airport to drive home. I received a call from Budget asking if I was still planning to catch my flight due to it being delayed and will be arriving now at 1am in Orlando. I said "yes, I will be on the flight. Will you be there when I get off?" The Budget employee said "yes". My flight did not arrive in Orlando until 2:00am. I am traveling with 3 small children. We received our luggage and walked over to the Budget desk and NOBODY was there. I called the Customer Service line and they were no help. I was told "nobody is going to wait 3 hours for a delayed flight!" Frustrated, tired, stressed, three tired whiny kids. We ran to the Alamo desk, they had one employee there who was about to leave. She did an amazing job, getting me a car, walking myself and children to the rental car, helping me with my luggage and the kids car seats into the car. She went above and beyond! I am now a happy new Alamo customer! I never got the employees name who worked that night. But, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! read more

Gradually, Alamo has become my de facto rental company. They often have a lower rate (sometimes MUCH lower than sister National, which used to be my #1), and other than a couple of times with REALLY long lines that almost turned me off of them totally, they've done alright lately. This particular facility, from whom we sometimes rent and return vehicles, is a bit of a walk from the airport proper - so, be prepared for that, especially upon car return if you're a 'runner' like me. During off hours, they have no one receiving your car, which can be confusing. Just go to the main building, and they'll check you out. One more thing with the bigger companies like Alamo, Avis etc. (Hertz -SOME locations are just as bad as the fly-by-nights) - they don't bother with nicks and dents. With the likes of Thrifty (one of the worst, in more ways than one - the 'T' is for "TRASHY") or Dollar (the 'D' is for 'DIRTY' cars!), they often get you to inspect every square inch of the vehicle, and have you mark on some piddly little diagram all the problem areas. The only thing is, with some of these cars being in less than tip-top-form (I mean, rental cars with 35K miles or MORE!!! Dollar and Thrifty!) - anyway, with these cars that are not in their prime child-bearing age, it makes more sense to mark the areas that DON'T have any issues! Back to Alamo... return the car from the airport side. Even though you exit through the back side on to E. Airport Blvd, you cannot return the car from their exit side - only FOOLS will try to do that, right? And of COURSE I didn't attain to that knowledge from first-hand experience... read more

I have had good experiences with Alamo in the past so they usually are my go to company. Alamo at SFB is located in a completely separate area from the other rental cars. It is a bit of a walk. The counter service agent was miserable and not friendly at all. I had checked-in online and he did not care, went though the whole process again. Seems like they should just not offer online check-in at this location. The other employees I encountered were friendly. I paid for an economy and ended up getting upgraded to a mid-sized SUV since that was all that was available. They only had one person checking in cars and the line was quite long. If you had to make it to your gate they suggested just leaving and your originally confirmatiojn would be your receipt. Overall, I would use them again. read more

I booked the cheapest economy car I could find for Friday-Monday so that my husband and I could drive to Universal Studios and to our hotel near Celebration, FL. They are the only rental company that sits a little farther from the airport but there are plenty of signs to show which way to go. The rental process was so quick and easy since I had already checked in online and the employees were informative and friendly. For $63 we got a Nissan Versa for three days. The car was not immaculately clean - we found a balled up tissue and a watch in the driver's side door and some unused napkins and hotel information in the glove compartment. Other than that, I have no complaints. There were no problems driving the vehicle. Checking the car back in literally took about 30 seconds. I'd use them again. read more

Our flight had been delayed over an hour so we were thinking we were going to have to Uber to a hotel and come back in the morning when they reopened. We walked in about half an hour after their listed closing time and the workers greeted us with a smile and said they had been tracking the flights and they stay there until all their customers are taken care of. Arrived at Sandford airport and walked into Alamo rental. There was a line but 4 agents were quickly checking people in. We were greated by Roderick as we walked out the door. We followed him to the row of standard 4 Door cars and I mentioned that we rented regularly. Roderick took us to the midsize SUV and offered us a Rav 4. UPDATE . I called "customer service" about my problem. Talked with a very nice person. Reexplained my problem. She looked it up and acknowledged She found my complaint in the system. She apologized and said she would immediately issue the $100 credit to my account, For my Inconvenience .And I would receive a email shortly. I received the email, But instead of receiving a credit to my credit card I was CHARGED another $54.00+ AND $1.54. !!! WHAT !! STILL NO CREDIT. Worst business ever! Lier's I have signed up for AVIS program and booked for a two week rental in Florida. You can go straight to your car without going to desk. Drop keys in drop box on return. No Hassles. NO long walk. And hopefully no BS from customer service. I look forward to doing business with them on a regular and frequent basis. read more

First, I have to start by saying that the front desk staff would have earned this rental company a much lower review! The gentleman who helped us had no personality or enthusiasm about his job. He hardly looked up from his screen to acknowledge our presence during our quick interaction. He got us checked in, offered the usual pricey upgrades with no discount and sent us on our way to the parking lot to find a car. After feeling a little lost with the lack of direction that was given, we flagged down some other staff members who helped us find our way. They were all very kind and helpful! We chose a car, got it all loaded up and then noticed quite a few dents and scratches. Since we had already loaded our luggage and the baby we just headed for the exit. During that short drive we noticed that the car had a lot of noticeable stains on every seat. We drove up to the exit where Christopher was working. We told him about the stains and dents, mostly to verify that we wouldn't be charged for them upon returning the vehicle. He was so understanding and helpful. He offered us a free upgrade to an SUV and let us bring the vehicle back on empty (even though the tank was full!). We LOVED the SUV selection! We chose a Nissan and it was such an amazing vehicle during our trip. Very clean, drove well and gave us plenty of space for our luggage. A huge thanks to Christopher for such an awesome experience. We normally use Budget rental service, but you just made Alamo customers out of us. read more

Nice people, great location! I gave 4 stars because I was disappointed that the cheap rates through Allegiant Airliners were lacking the tax amount. So I ended up paying extra for the rental I already paid for when I purchased my plane ticket. I could have found a cheaper deal online if I knew this was going to happen. We reserved an economy car through their website, paid the full amount due, and even did the "check in" process so we were all set to just pick up the keys. But... they didn't actually reserve a car for us. When we arrived they had already rented out all of the economy cars... and all of the compact cars... and all of the midsize cards... and all of the standard cars. We ended up having to take an SUV because that's all they had left (we specifically reserved an economy car because we wanted to save on gas). When someone makes a reservation, that should mean they reserve a car for you. There's no excuse for renting out a reserved car (that's paid for!) to someone else. Aside from that, it was very cheap, reasonable fast service, and convenient to get to from the airport read more

I'm terrible with names! The young woman that greeted me at the door when I arrived was extremely helpful. Walked me to the kiosk and guided me thru it all. She then walked me out and directed me to the cars I could choose from. As I left the lot I was again greeted by a wonderfully polite gentleman that welcomed me. When I returned the car the young man again was very polite and upbeat. He asked how my visit was, and wished me a happy belated birthday when I said it was the best birthday in a long while! I will be coming back in Sept. and hope I can get as good a deal as I got with this rental! read more

I rented a car at Sanford Airport, FL, forgot my camera in it, i called the dealer almost right away, and they already rented the car to another costumer, with my camera inside the car. What kind of cleaning do they do before renting it? or the camera was stolen by the employees? don't they have a Lost and Found department? Their only response was "It's not in the car" . The location in Sanford is a bit distant from the terminal with a walk across a worn out wooden bridge. The bridge could be a bit treacherous if you have any issues with balance. We upgraded the vehicle to a SUV. The vehicle was nice. The staff was helpful but a bit pushy about adding other unneeded services. Altogether, a good experience. read more

Hi! I had bad times when I cancelled a car in Alamo in Orlando , Fl. We went at the airport, me and my wife, to calcelled the reservation on rentcars.com at Alamo store. We called to rentcars.com to cancel, and we were thinking that everithing was great. We didnt took the car, and since dezember every month they order in my creditcard. We didnt took the car, and there is no way to pay, because this. We called to rentcars.com and they didnt worry to our problem. This is te third month we paid for any cars, or service. Warning on the insurance that they make you take out it cost more than renting the car we flew to Florida through Allegiant airlines and when we book the flight tickets we added the rental cars through Alamo when we got to Florida the agent at Alamo told us that we needed to put their insurance on the rentals which cost us $600 which completely ruined our vacation as that took the money away from my kids going to the parks so we lost a day at the parks never again will I get sucked into this also we rented 2 vehicles so when we was told about this 300 dollar insurance on each one I asked if we could just get a 15 passenger van instead and he told me I'd lose all my money I had already spent just complete horrible customer service DONT GET SCREWED BY THIS COMPANY read more

We recently made online reservations for a midsized car rental (via a a package thru an airline). An employee saw my family member was using a cane & asked if it would be easier for them to travel in a SUV instead. They gave us a Jeep instead of a car & that was much appreciated. Of course an SUV would have been more comfy; but we were trying to keep our costs down. Previous to this, we found out at the counter...that the cost of our rental essentially doubled from the fees/taxes & the fee for an additional driver. Upon our return home, I did little comparing with a competitor & found their price/fees/taxes were comparable. But I'm sure we will use the competitor the next time. Why? We were charged an additional $105 ($15/day) for an 'additional driver'. The competitor doesn't change this for spouses. I called & talked with someone from this location (Alamo at the Sanford, FL airport). They indicated that Alamo offers 2 different driver (authorized & additional). This is different for each location & that the Sanford, FL airport is one that does not offer authorized drivers/only additional drivers. So we were stuck paying that additional $105 fee. I even called our private insurance company & as long was we are both listed on the car rental contract, we both would have been covered. IMO, by Alamo not being consistent & charging the 'additional driver' fee for spouses at some locations/not clearly being upfront about this...is very much a bait-n-switch scheme. This is not appreciated nor customer friendly. read more

I highly encourage reserving your car online and then using the kiosk to check in (both here or at MCO). The line was huge for counter service, but I walked right up to a kiosk, swiped my license and credit card, got the rate I reserved online (look for coupon codes!), and was out the door in under 5 minutes. That was great and I didn't have to worry about declining additional services. After leaving the office, a guy looked at our contract for a compact and said he would give us the next car class up. He led us to the row and encouraged us to take the first car, still holding our paperwork until we put our luggage into the trunk. While it was nice that he gave us the upgrade (and we ending up loving the brand new car), we felt he was a bit pushy and would have liked a little more time to browse the different cars available. My boyfriend thought he was looking for a tip; I'm not tipping for a job that is unnecessary - I can choose a car myself and prefer to do so, as you can do at the Orlando airport. We saw that this guy also stayed with the family after us until they had picked out their car. Aside from that minor situation, I would definitely still use Alamo again at Sanford and elsewhere. The rate was by far the best, and the car was great (only 800 miles on it!). read more
