I was on my way to catch a flight and had no time to go to the rental car desk and find a manager. They will not rent to you unless you buy their insurance or provide actual documentation of other coverage. The agent will lie to you and try to invalidate your coverage. But the literal fraud is what they do regarding tolls. During my rental, I avoided all toll plazas by getting off of the highway before the plazas or exits where the tolls are charged. Routes uses their vehicle tracking software to trigger their own "toll charge" when you travel on certain highways. This charge happens whether or not you pass through a toll point. Simply put, this is fraud and because they have your credit card, they just charge you $20 each time. Forget about customer service. You can't speak to anyone. Only emails with what seems to be an AI agent. They simply repeat the same bs and never provide any toll documentation to support the charge. The low price for the rental lured me in, but it is not worth the frustration and theft from Routes. Never again!
