My son used to love their chicken strips and fries, with a vanilla shake after soccer practice... we hadn't gone in a while so I ordered him the chicken strips, ordered some for my husband and got me the fish & chips and a bowl of clam chowder. We don't live far, just a short 7 minute or so ride, so I got it for pick-up. Anywho, $80 later, I'm throwing most of it away... the chicken strips are NOT the same, these are some generic frozen crap from Walmart or something... not like it used to be at all, even the fries are the cheap frozen fast food fries from Walmart! I just put the oyster crackers on my clam chowder and stupidly didn't check first, THEY WERE STALE! Oh Alan's, yall used to be SOOOO GOOD! What happened? Is it the tariffs? Is the cost for fresh food too expensive now? Sucks for me, I wanted ONE effing night off from cooking! JUST ONE! Can't trust fast food, now can't even trust the family spots? So very disappointed. Also the fried cod was SOOOO oily! It's like they didn't even put it on the drip pan for a bit to let it drip off, my sweet potato fries are also greasy... I think the clam chowder is canned, but it's not terrible... I added some cream to it and that took down the sodium a bit... smh... what the heck!?!? Don't go here, it's like disappointment lives here... oh, and $1 for a 2 ounce side of ranch that is also just "eh"... we should've gone to FPH... they are way better quality. read more

The service here is beyond horrible. I wouldn't recommend Alan's Country Cafe ever. My husband and I and our two kids arrived at 10:26 am. It took nearly 20 minutes for someone to take our orders, and that was only because we had to flag down a waiter and ask if we could order. At no point while we waited did anyone ask if we would like anything besides water. A waitress brought a cup of coffee by mistake, and when we told her we didn't order it, she just looked confused and walked to another table. After waiting even longer, they bring food out to our table but it wasn't even our orders. We waited even longer and longer while the waiter checked in and asked how we were doing but couldn't give us any updates on when we might expect to receive our food. After waiting an hour, we ended up just leaving the restaurant because we were so disappointed in the service and the indefinite wait. read more

My fiancé and I went for the first time this afternoon for Mother's Day. They did have a special Mother's Day menu, which was a good idea. It doesn't look too much different from when it was Kelly's; thé atmosphere is nice and more or less what you'd expect for a diner. The host/server seated us immediately, but initially only brought us the Mother's Day menu, which was limited and higher-priced options. He eventually brought us the regular menu and told us some of the items on that would not be available today. It took awhile for him to take our drink order. We stayed even though the menu items seemed a bit pricy, even with the elevated cost of food. The appetizer onion rings were $11 for a regular Oder and were clearly out of à bag. The mozzarella sticks were $12 and also clearly out of à bag. My fiancé ordered fish and chips and a Sprite and I ordered an Impossible cheeseburger with a small Chai milkshake. We came out of our dinner today $80 lighter + tip. I want to be fair and make it clear that none of the food was bad, but it was clearly made from frozen items and really, it was regular bar food, not even really a diner experience. Not worth $80 for 2 people to eat at a diner/café. I do also want to let people know that they do breakfast all day, so that may be a real plus for some people. It also looks like there are a lot of options. Because of the cost for what you're getting, I won't be going back. This is a cute little place, we stopped in by chance and agreed we would come back here again! We were excited to visit this cute diner for the first time in November 2025, but were deeply disappointed with the service, and quality of food. It took over 10 minutes before we were greeted by a server and provided water, and after ordering we waited for just OVER AN HOUR to receive a very basic breakfast order for 4 people. The pancakes are huge and nearly hung over the side of the plate. She got two slices of bacon and two eggs over medium. I got the Biscuits & Gravy ($15.95): Homemade buttermilk biscuits covered in country sausage gravy, two eggs, golden hash browns or country fried potatoes. The biscuit was probably the best I've ever had in a restaurant...HUGE, light and fluffy...covered in lots of delicious black peppery sausage gravy, with two perfectly fried eggs over medium (a little crispy around the edges with a runny yolk), and the flavorful fried potatoes. The portions were so big, I took home half my biscuit and gravy for breakfast the next day. Just stuck with water to drink, which was immediately brought to us when we arrived without having to ask. Service was fine and everyone was friendly and accommodating. My only complaint: our food took longer than expected to arrive. Thankfully, it was worth the wait. Though we don't get to Port Orchard from East Bremerton much anymore, we will definitely return to try other menu items. Bremerton could use more small, reasonably priced, family owned breakfast cafes like this place and Uncle Dave's. read more

Ouch. This was a painful experience. 5 stars for effort on behalf of Sunny our waitress who was very sweet and friendly but it was obvious she was overwhelmed. Dropping stars for organization, timeliness and quality (utensils were presented in a communal bucket which didn't seem quite sanitary and masks were not 100% being worn by staff). We were seated as a group of 8 on a Sunday at 11am the restaurant was only half full (following covid guidelines) or less as watched a few other parties abandon their tables altogether from extended wait times. We had 5 coffee orders from our group which took nearly 35 minutes to receive and even as they approached the table almost every order was mixed up over simple details ie: iced, not iced, latte vs. chai latte and milk substitutions. We had the same issue with food which arrived faster than drinks but had transposed egg orders ie both pancakes and French toast arrived but scrambled and over easy were mixed and one order was missed altogether. My sympathies that they are short staffed and do not have a full time barista but order accuracy shouldn't be that complicated. It's hard to say if the mix up was our waitress or kitchen staff but it was a hot mess. Everything eventually made it but it was incredibly awkward to watch as both our waitress and the owner traveled back and forth to our table to clarify who had what. At the end of the day the food was just okay. 2 star experience but leaving it to 3 stars in hopes they'll get all the kinks ironed out. read more

Consistently good food that doesn't taste like bland past (some other local popular places.) We have ordered from the frequently for Eggs Benedict, biscuits and gravy, Country Benedict, pancakes. No complaints on any front. Lately open for in person, the wait staff is minimal (2 each time we have been in.), but they are attentive. One lady is a previous kinder/primary school teacher with all the bubbly positivity needed for an amazing grade school teacher. The food has been very good whether delivery or in person. The final dasher told us they told them they will not make any door dash orders unless everyone dine in had food. People who walked in an hour after I made my order were served first. Glad to see Alan's finally was able to open despite the Covid-19 debacle. They opened for inside dining recently (every other table, must wear mask going in, etc.) Nice little country-style diner for breakfast and lunch. Over the closure months from the transition from the old restaurant that was here, they did some nice renovations inside. We ordered the chicken burger with fries, and also sausage and eggs with a short stack. And as always, we both shared each other's meal. Nicely done - pancakes were light and fluffy, and generous (I'm a small eater so that's not always a benefit for me LOL!). My only disappointment was the sausages seemed to be of the "frozen brown and serve" variety. I'd have rather had traditional links cooked fresh. But they were tasty. The chicken burger was tasty as well with a nicely done chicken breast patty. Just a tad on the oily side for our taste but it was good. All in all, a good experience and we will be back read more
