A True 1950s Diner Experience! Highly Recommended! We visited the Red Apple Diner in Bremerton with our after-wedding party of 13 people for brunch, and it exceeded our expectations. Despite our large group, they accommodated everyone comfortably and provided outstanding service from start to finish. The diner completely embraces the classic 1950s era. From the décor and booths to the music and nostalgic atmosphere, it truly feels like you've stepped back in time. The restaurant was also exceptionally clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly, attentive, and impressively efficient. They handled our large group's orders with ease, kept drinks refilled, and delivered everyone's meals quickly. Our table ordered a variety of dishes including bacon and eggs, sausage and eggs, Oregon French toast, chicken and waffles, and a Reuben sandwich. Every meal looked fantastic, the portions were generous, and everything was cooked perfectly. The standout for us was the French Toast, which was easily some of the best French toast we've ever had at any diner. The chicken and waffles were excellent, and the Reuben was packed with flavor. The cheeseburger was juicy and delicious (although I personally would have skipped the grilled onions). One unique surprise was the recommended potato chip fries that came with the burger. They were thick cut, freshly made, and unlike any chips I've had before, dense chip shaped fries without being overly hard. Prices were very reasonable, with most meals around $20 or less, making it an excellent value for the quality and generous portions. Overall, the Red Apple Diner delivered fantastic food, outstanding service, a fun nostalgic atmosphere, and a memorable experience. We'll absolutely be back the next time we're in the Bremerton area. An adorable old school diner themed restaurant with nostalgia everywhere. From the music they played to the seating options. The servers were very friendly and sweet. The food came on time and there was a variety to choose from. I got the 3 alarm burger with chipotle ranch and a mint Oreo shake. It was delicious and reasonably priced. Took mom out for a nice diner breakfast at the Big Apple Diner. Nice diner environment, clean, friendly staff, pretty decent menu options. I chose two pancake breakfast. It also had eggs, hash browns, and bacon. The hash browns were buttery and crispy shreds and bacon thick sliced and tasty. Scrambled eggs were good. My only complaint was the pancakes. They were good size but tough, needed to be cut with a knife. The batter needs some work. The servings are large and worth the money. Picked up cinnamon roll to go. We love it here. Anytime we're in town to visit my in-laws we make a point of coming and getting breakfast here at least once. It's a classic diner, and they try to keep the 50s "feel". A popular place to eat and kid friendly! I tried the Green River soda, which is more sour and then carbonated. I understand that they make this in house and something to try. For my entree, I chose the hot meatloaf sandwich. It was a cold, rainy day and this seemed like some good comfort food. I really enjoyed the taste, not over powering by any okie seasoning. We happened across this little gem while visiting the USS Turner Joy. It's a short drive from there. We had the best waitress and we were seated right away. She was friendly, made suggestions for meals and was right on with water refills and anything we might have needed. Service was excellent. The food came out as ordered and hot. Ordered the prime rib open faced sandwich and it was delicious! Also ordered a prime rib dip and the flavor was amazing. Came with fries that were hot and crispy and so good. Playing 50's hits and cute booths and decor was an added plus. All the employees were very friendly. We tried the peach cobbler milkshake and orange cake and they was very good. I'm very blessed to have a job that allows me to travel around to places that is "local" but not that local. I would never imagine myself to be out in Bremerton, WA, but duty called and here I am. I had to take the ferry over so decided to leave a little earlier than my appointment to see what kind of breakfast spots there are around here. And Yelp definitely didn't disappoint. Came to Big Apple Diner based off the reviews and I can say it didn't disappoint. Entering the diner on a Thursday morning and right off the bat it's pretty packed. Although smaller of a typical diner to me you can really feel the 50's or 60's style theme and instantly tell it had a small town vibe. I don't usually eat breakfast, but when I do at a diner, I almost always other 1 of three things. Today was the corn beef hash only because I saw one reviewer say it was bad. To my surprise, it was fantastic. Perfectly seasoned with and I like my corn beef with a little bit of crisp. They slap the potatoes in there which were soft in the middle but also had a slight crisp to it as well. Eggs ordered sunny side up so I can slap some of that nice egg yolk on to the corn beef and hash. Service was pretty good too. I can understand some things since it looked like there were only 2-3 servers with a full house. All in all, a solid 4 stars experience. Not sure if I'll ever be back cause it's way out of the way for me, but I would recommend this spot to anyone else that may be in the area looking for some breakfast. read more

If you are near this fun curio of a place, then go ahead and give it a try. While the breakfast wasn't the best I have ever had in my life, it certainly held it's own against the likes of chain restaurants like IHOP or Denny's. The Mom and Pop feel and retro 50's decor made this place a worthwhile stop off on our way to the Lavender Festival. My hubby had a chopped sirloin dinner with veggies and a side salad. I had ham and eggs. Both were cooked properly and served hot. The house made blue cheese dressing alone was worth the stop, as it was surprisingly nay alarmingly good. I found myself transported to a simpler time and I honestly forgot where I was for a moment in the kitsch nostalgia of this little place. Based on the food and prices I would rate higher, but this was our first time here and the service was disappointing. We arrived at 12:10 (Saturday) and we could see empty tables, yet we stood in the entry for over 20 minutes until we were acknowledged. Then another 5 minutes before we were seated. Another 8 minutes before asked if we wanted drinks, and another 5 before the drinks came out. It was actually 42 minutes from arriving until we got our lunch. Making it worse, while waiting to be seated a woman with 3 out of control kids was trying to pay and two of them were screeching loudly. That's not the fault of the staff, but harder to take when waiting so long. read more

Service was slow to seat me despite 4-5 people walking around, I'd understand it if they were slammed, but it was maybe 4 tables tops full inside. The good, the food came out quick...the bad - it was warm at best. The only warm thing on my plate was the eggs. Biscuits weren't even warm , but the gravy was warm in spots. Potatoes might be considered warm. At best...hell, I would have at least appreciated a quick run in the microwave. Sausage was cold enough that I wasn't comfortable eating it because wasn't sure how well it was cooked... Sacrifice quality for speed - I will not be back. * So forgot to mention that my wife's meal wasn't any better, actually worse. She asked for extra crispy bacon and it was far from crispy - actually rubbery where she didn't even eat it. I started with a 3 star and accounted it for a bad day, but moving down to 2 the more I think about it and after talking to my wife. I addressed the issue when I paid (didn't want anything, but you can't fix what you don't know) and was basically told..."well we are busy". Big Apple is one of our go to places for breakfast and dinner. We started coming here after the change in ownership and have really enjoyed it. The diner is decked out in 50s/60s memorabilia with a soundtrack to match. The staff are friendly and as prompt as they can be depending on how busy it is.
