I didn't feel rushed, but also didn't want anyone to need to stay late on our behalf. I ordered the Nashville Hot chicken. Temperature wise it was very hot. Spice was pretty mild in my opinion. Waffle was okay. Seemed like everything had been premade and frozen maybe. My daughter had the kids strawberry and whipped cream waffle and it was decent. The service was excellent and the food was okay. I'd probably only go back if I was 5 minutes away and the kid's wanted waffles.

Both baristas were genuinely enthusiastic without being over the top. Placed my order, and yes they take debit/credit cards, got all drinks in relative good time in a drink carrier. Perfect for this beverage klutz. All of us really enjoyed our beverages...hot, spot on, expertly made! 20 oz Americano, 16 oz mocha, and 16 oz London Fog latte, excellent and without the snotty hipster attitude found at some indies in Seattle. The Homie and I made sure to stop by after driving around from I-5 South/Hwy 16 and across the Manette Bridge on 1/15/26 to Cafe Kai's new, bigger location. No more drive through window and tiny retail spot. Bremerton's Manette neighborhood has become a destination detour with Saboteur Bakery, Vim & Vigor, and now Cafe Kai! Their new location is located at the corner of 11th and Perry with adjacent street parking. Upon entering, bright interior and sleek, streamlined design. Same welcoming vibe. That day we've been having a progressive eating mindset on our drive from Shoreline, Seattle, Tukwila, and now Bremerton. We had better restraint and bought only two Teriyaki Spam and one Hawaiian Hot Dog musubis, plus a bag of Li Hing gummies. Their menu features several musubis and refreshing beverages. I also enjoyed my brief convo with one of the owners, Jamie Cancel. There's something really welcoming when meeting indie business owners whether from Oahu, Kauai, Maui, the Big Island or on the mainland. It's that genuine sense of ohana or family I've consistently experienced. Musubis were nicely wrapped and piping hot. That day it was sunny and breezy leaving Cafe Kai with the goods. Despite our large group, they accommodated everyone comfortably and provided outstanding service from start to finish. The diner completely embraces the classic 1950s era. From the décor and booths to the music and nostalgic atmosphere, it truly feels like you've stepped back in time. The restaurant was also exceptionally clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly, attentive, and impressively efficient. They handled our large group's orders with ease, kept drinks refilled, and delivered everyone's meals quickly. Our table ordered a variety of dishes including bacon and eggs, sausage and eggs, Oregon French toast, chicken and waffles, and a Reuben sandwich. Every meal looked fantastic, the portions were generous, and everything was cooked perfectly. The standout for us was the French Toast, which was easily some of the best French toast we've ever had at any diner. The chicken and waffles were excellent, and the Reuben was packed with flavor. The cheeseburger was juicy and delicious (although I personally would have skipped the grilled onions). One unique surprise was the recommended potato chip fries that came with the burger. They were thick cut, freshly made, and unlike any chips I've had before, dense chip shaped fries without being overly hard. Prices were very reasonable, with most meals around $20 or less, making it an excellent value for the quality and generous portions. The cold foam flavor blended in very well with the rest of the tea. Steve gets the natural energy drinks and he got a very pretty blueish green drink which he enjoyed. We got a small snack, it was raspberries on a white cheese sandwich and that flavor combination was quite good as they blended together well. There is seating and it is roofed but it's kind of a open air arrangement which makes it doable in the summer and even in the colder months when there's rain.

Limited outdoor seating. Fairly large indoor cafe lengthwise. The usual laptop crowd occupied most of the seating up front. There's additional communal seating towards the back half of the cafe. The barista onsite was very upbeat, energetic, and personable. I decided to sip some of my iced 20oz mocha onsite to checkout the cafe vibe. Pretty decent music playing, clean and comfortable cafe digs. There's also Tshirts, stickers, and other retail items available for purchase. Good to see a local roaster provide the featured signature coffee beans, indies supporting each other! Nice menu variety of bevs and eats and reasonably priced. Great find and I understand why their overall Yelp score is 4.7 out of 5. I started a stamp card and will be definitely adding Otter Bay Cafe to my rotation.
