We dropped in on the spur of the moment at a slow hour but as is often the case service was super slow because there was one person ahead of us. But we were deep in conversation so it didn't annoy us a lot. Once we did get service they were swift to refill coffee cups so we were happy about that and speeding by the time we left. We ordered 3-egg veggie omelettes but they brought omelettes loaded with rubbery square blocks of ham which we dug out to take home to the dogs; two out of three of the dogs thought that was swell, the third seemed to say, "What in heck is this stuff? A cut up super-ball?" These couldn't possibly have been three eggs unless they're buying extra-small eggs during a period of high prices on eggs. These were an egg and a half per omelette, wonderfully paper thin but not big around. Probably would've tasted great if we got what we ordered but what we got instead was kind of a misery. The hashbrowns were pleasant, toast was perfect, and we shared a short stack that was a really good pancake, so we definitely did not go home hungry. We told the waitress we didn't order these omelettes, and she said she wrote it down correctly and she didn't know why the cook got it wrong. She didn't offer to remake them, and we didn't ask 'em too as it took a super long to make the first ones and we were running out of time. We thought we should get a small discount for the little rubber blocks we shoveled to the side, but that wasn't forthcoming. Everyone makes mistakes so it's not a one-star review from me. But it'll be hard to forget and I have a fearful feeling it's the last time we drop in to Jimmy D's if we remember this day every time we drive near it. It's been there so long, though, it feels like it's historic. Though I do still miss when it was the Golden Ox; there was a cook named Aris who was a great cook and a great gent.

It's nice that there is a bar area which is separate from the regular dining area. Plenty of parking, but this place does seem busy on a weekend morning. I do find it a little strange they have bathroom codes on the doors, but everything else is excellent. It's clean and bright in here. I believe they have new owners. It is very hard to find a vegan breakfast in Kitsap county and this place has a couple options made using Just Egg. To my knowledge it is the only place with a vegan breakfast available in Port Orchard. They also have a burger option available. Some day I will try the veggie fries. Do remember to check the specials when you walk in. They always have tons of desserts listed that seem inviting. My non veg dining partners always seem happy with their food. They were very nice in accommodating some family members who needed gluten free options. It can be a little chilly, but the coffee will warm you up. So thankful to have this place available.

Anywho, $80 later, I'm throwing most of it away... the chicken strips are NOT the same, these are some generic frozen crap from Walmart or something... not like it used to be at all, even the fries are the cheap frozen fast food fries from Walmart! I just put the oyster crackers on my clam chowder and stupidly didn't check first, THEY WERE STALE! Oh Alan's, yall used to be SOOOO GOOD! What happened? Is it the tariffs? Is the cost for fresh food too expensive now? Sucks for me, I wanted ONE effing night off from cooking! JUST ONE! Can't trust fast food, now can't even trust the family spots? So very disappointed.
