We "met" Alarm Central 10 years ago when we purchased our home, and Jim (the owner) came to our house to repair the system that was in home. We were so impressed with the professionalism and his friendliness, we have been with Alarm Central ever since. Recently our main smoke alarm failed, and Lauren dispatched one of their service techs the same day we called. The tech arrived, diagnosed, quoted the repair, and at our request, also created a quote for a new upgraded system. Lauren helped to customize a system that met our needs and budget, and then dispatched Vidail to do the install. Vidail arrived on time, was extremely friendly, and answered all of our last-minute questions. He then he did an outstanding installation of our new alarm system, new smoke detectors, and two control panels. As an example of his professionalism, after each piece was installed, Vidail stopped and vacuumed the area! After the system was up and running, Vidail helped us to install the Alarm.com app, trained us on the many features, and even helped us to customize the settings. OK so check this out. We were robbed, well kind of. Lets not stretch the truth at all so lets just say that a guy walked in to the back of our shop in broad day light and took a lap top right off the desk. Because of the cameras that alarm central installed we were able to show the police what happen and what the guy looked like and sure enough about two hours later the police found our lap top and the guy that took it. An arrest was made and we believe that the man went to jail. Because the cameras worked so good we had Alarm Central install 5 or 6 more and we now can see every inch of the shop 24/7. I can now see what's going on when I'm not there with that handy phone app. Already caught one thief stealing birthday gifts out of a car and was able to recover them the same day without involving the Sheriffs. We already had a system that was installed about 6 years ago and was hoping to update it since everything seemed to be going haywire (i.e., batteries, etc.). I've known Jim for a number of years and he has lots of experience and I trust his advice. Today I was discussing an issue with him, regarding my Ring doorbell and my WiFi network. I own an Airport Extreme router and Jim recommended a new mesh system which he carries. I purchased the new system, installed it at home and ran some tests at different locations. My wife and I recently bought a beautiful, custom home that already had a Protection One system, and I was considering just picking up the contract from the previous owner, until I read THEIR reviews on Yelp!! Protection One's customer service is as breathtakingly bad as the reviews claim....but, I'm here to review Alarm Central, and I can say these people are courteous, know their stuff and, most of all, transparent and honest in all their dealings with us. It was their good reviews here at Yelp that made me decide to call...Daniel (a technician now in the office doing sales calls , came to the house...he explored the panel and wasn't sure at first if they would be able to "take it over" or not...now here's the important part...if he had wanted to sell me a bunch of new equipment, I would'nt have had the slightest inkling if my hardware needed to be replaced or???...after fiddling around with some codes for a bit, he announced "no problem, we can use all the gear you have"...he gave me the rundown on install charges, a new battery for the panel, a possible remote sensor on the sprinkler system and then scheduled a technician to come out (just my luck!) the next day. Edgar arrived this morning and did a completely thorough check of the system, set everything up including the sensor at the sprinkler system ( that we weren't sure would be possible), explained all the features of the alarm and generally made sure every thing was in place and explained. This company is the real deal, and if everything goes well with the monitoring aspect of things, I consider them the ONLY people to use in the OC! read more

So disappointed with this company! We've had them for 11 years, and they've really been good for nothing. The few times we did have an accidental trip fo the alarm, they didn't even call. We had a low battery for an extended amount of time (2nd home), and they didn't even put in a courtesy call. We had American Alarm at another property and loved them. When I called to cancel service with Alarm Central, they told me that my contract renews every year, and now I can't even get out for another TEN months! They are supposedly adjusting my account to be more sensitive for better contact, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm so disappointed. Make sure to read the fine print in the contract so you know what you're getting yourself in to. read more

Alarm central has provided us years of fantastic service, maintenance and accurate billing. They have also installed our central vacuum system and maintained the components and provided all the necessary supplies. They recently installed our surround sound entertainment system. Which included speakers in three rooms with volume controls and two several outdoor speakers with controls. We are very pleased with the product they sell and the quality of installations. This is one of the few companies left that truly cares about customer service. We would recommend them to anybody. read more

I suppose you can only base a rating on an Alarm company by their customer service, installation process, and if your alarm still works. Well I'm happy that my alarm still works so thats 1 star. It was downhill from the installation process. I got the new guy when it came to the installation process. Since he was new, he wasn't able to fully install my alarm system so he had to call for back up. Apparently the experienced guy who showed up to help was having family drama so the two of them chit chatted for quite some time outside while extending this process even longer than it should have ran. When it came to installing the keypad, they wanted me to tell them both aloud what my passcode to deactivate my alarm would be. Even if this is the norm, cant you make me feel a little more comfortable and just let me type it on the keypad myself, so I don't have to worry that 2 strangers having my passcode?? I asked them this and they said that it didn't matter they can find out at the office. Okay but still?! The whole reason I got an alarm installed is because there is some kind of paranoia there obviously. After they finally finished, I called their office to change the passcode with Lauren, my sales rep, and she pretty much laughed at me over the phone and said "we're a security company, you need to trust us!". Excuse me Lauren, but you cant even trust our community protection team (aka police) always. And by the way.. the two guys that did the installation were not clean cut looking to make things a bit worse. Also, when it comes to getting an invoice for your records its like pulling teeth. I do an auto pay every quarter but like to have a copy of my invoice. I always have to request them and sometimes twice! read more

I've had two alarm systems installed by these guys and everything went perfectly. They offer an amazing service. They came out and spent a long time talking to me about different alarm options and the best way to have a setup. I also have a person with special needs for whom a standard alarm setup wouldn't make much sense. They were able to work with to come up with the customized setup I needed. Alarm Central installed an alarm in my house back in 2006 and I've had zero problems with it in 5 years. Their monitoring fees are reasonable and their staff members are very amicable. Recently, I had them install a complete home theater system in my living room. When I informed them that I had found a better price on the TV, the owner price matched it the same day! I've had the 2Gig alarm system, installed by Alarm Central for a few years now. I moved last year and they helped move everything to the new house very easy. I have been a customer over a year and I am very happy with their service. The best part is that when you call you get a human being! not an automated menu. They have come to my house twice and they have been very professional and helpful. Once there was an issue with the alarm not going off early enough. It turned out that it was a legacy of the previous set-up by another alarm company. They said that this is something that could have been detected during the installation, so they waived the repair charges (without asking!). Also worth mentioning that they found us an appointment for the very next day as were going away on vacation. Their call center is in OC, so that's reassuring too. read more

When I initially contacted them, they sent me back a detailed bid that was at a very reasonable cost. I initially walked through the bid with Dick, and then when I decided to move forward, I met with Jim, and he walked me through the options again. I wanted to get my alarm installed before we left for vacation, and Jim was able to accomodate me on short notice. Marco, the system installer did a great job. He is a professional; very competent, throrough, and friendly. He has also been very helpful with making a few adjustments to our system.
