I would say just their name would be considered false advertising by their lack of knowledge. Go to Ben Bridges if you want the best watch maker and knowledgeable staff. They might not even be in business anymore. They sold me a life time battery but it appears they disappeared. Was told that they changed professions and now were now pilots. So lifetime which died in 6 months didn't include they were going to change professions. read more

I just got shipped from Switzerland through a Cali Corum dealer a new band. I took off the old band and proceeded to put it back together, ah but two of the pins were too large for the strap. They changed the hole size from the older strap to a smaller hole. I went to Ben Bridge to get pins, the watch maker was out for the next two weeks. So they suggested here. Nice suggestion! In the Midtown Mall. They said they would be open at noon, had to wait just 5 mins cool. Owner was on time with kids in tow. A little crowd had built 4 people were waiting including us. She said $18.95 and about 10 minutes. Small shop, local and she said she's the last independent Watch Repair place in town. Carl's Jewelry and Gifts closed and there was a place on 36th that closed too. Watch with new band secured! Check! Out in 10 mins! Check! Will be back. read more

I've been looking for a place to get battery replaced on my Luminox military watch. Fred Meyer couldn't do it since they cannot guarantee the original seal will hold, plus they all look like sales people not watch technicians. I found Alaska Watch Specialist inside "The mall at Sears" near Carr's entrance. This is a one person operation and it only took her 15 minutes to change the battery. Drop off your jewelry and browse in the mall for 15 minutes then wallah. read more

I would suggest calling before going. I drove over at 2:45pm on a Tuesday. The lights were on but the shop was closed. The sign on the door said will return at 4:30pm. I will update this review if I end up getting service there. I just needed a watch battery replaced and wanted to support a local business. I bought a used watch online, didn't realize it had not only a dead battery, but an abnormally large battery! An employee at Fred Meyer Jewelers recommended I try this shop, and thank goodness! The lady working was able to get my watch up & running in about 10 minutes despite a lot of people coming and going from the shop. She also figured out how to work all the controls and showed me how to use them since I don't have the watch instructions. She was also super nice, and had her kids in the shop (I love patronizing family businesses!). I'll definitely be coming back whenever this dies or if I need any repairs. read more

I've come to Alaska Watch Specialist 2x when it was open and both unsuccessful. There have been no one here each time who can actually help me measure my wrist to take links out of a bracelet watch or to help measure and replace my leather band watch. There was a nice lady to greet you and maybe do the cash register, but she is not knowledgeable anything else watch repair related. Have to come back once again hoping someone is there to help me. There should be someone there trained who can actually assist with getting repairs and measurements done. They should only be open when someone is there and available to help with your repair, otherwise have corrected hours of repair service. read more

This place is a joke, The gentleman who answered the phone stumbled to figure out a citizen watch but tells me they can swap the battery in 10-15 mins. So l show up and have to leave the watch for 3 1/2 hours to get a battery replaced. Was "assured" it would be done. Hadn't even looked at it when l came back to pick up. Took it to another jewelry shop and it took 10mins. I try and support mom and pop buisinesses first and foremost, l'd stay far far away from here unless waiting is your thing. read more

I was very happy to find this place. I live in Kodiak & can't get a battery change. I brought my 2-watches in during a recent business trip to Anchorage. 20 minutes later I had 2 new batteries and was out the door. The young lady who runs this kiosk is awesome and does a great job. Apparently her dad ran the business for about 20 years and now she has it. She even sets the watch(es) to the correct time and date. I recommend this business! read more

***BEWARE*** I got ripped off and my trust broken. So I went to this place to get a new battery for my watch. The man working told me my watch had 2 batteries in it without even opening the backside and told me it would cost me $20. I came back to pay for it w a debit credit card and he said they dont accept any card payments. I went to the ATM which charged me $3, so it cost me $23 to change my "2" batteries. It didn't dawn on me until later that I never heard of a watch needing 2 batteries! I opened the backside of my watch to see and lo and behold, it has just 1 battery, not 2 like he said. Yes, I'm gullable and trusting, but what a thief. I can only take comfort in telling myself, he must've needed the extra money more than I did. read more

Went in to get watch repaired and was told it was in real bad shape and was told it wasn't worth repairing.With gold nugget face and band on mine I could trade the watch and use my band for $450.00 come back in an hour.After coming back in the hour,she had me wait another half an hour as she wanted more time to clean the face more .As I patiently waited for the new watch to be put on my band I'm informed she wants cash or pay an extra 3% for using my credit card,mind you she sprung this on me as she was changing bands,I told her that was a very bad way of doing business and I'll take it else where.This lady needs to be audited as it seems that she's trying to get cash sales or pay for credit card charges.I was very disappointed with this lady's tactics so be forewarned.Lousy way of doing business,not very ethical!! read more
