Service was attentive, but they were very busy and had only few servers, so they did not have much time to interact with the costumers. They were working non stop!! So much that we felt bad about asking for like parmesan cheese for the pasta. Now the rigatoni was Al dente, but the braised beef sauce was more like a gravy; the risotto was creamy but lacked flavor. The shrimp was cooked apart and placed on top of the risotto. During my trip to Jasper, my mom and I decided to try some Italian. I would give the food an 8/10. Calamari appetizer HIT!!! Pasta is yummy, and would highly recommend the carbonara. The duck pappardelle was initially a 7/10, but it was just more on the heavy side, so we had to take it togo. We received amazing service from a young lady, and made us feel welcome in a new small town during our vacation. Amazing view!! We didn't make a reservation but they took us anyhow which was wonderful. I like that they have a small menu. What they have they do well. Where we were seated with the door opening often it was cold. But the red wine helped. The braised beef rotini was really good, I found it too rich though. It could be shared. We were craving Italian food when we first arrived at Jasper. We found Alba restaurant that's located on the second floor of Jasper Main Street. The restaurant is large with a lot of tables. It's early for their summer tourism season so there were just a few groups of people. I had the Oxtail which was excellent. The pappardelle was excellently cooked. The sauce was bold with meaty flavors. It was perfect after a long day of traveling. The chili red pepper was a great touch to give another layer. The dish was sizable. I really enjoyed it. Seafood Spaghetti was also very good. However, I feel it can use more tomatoes to give heavier taste. I would say I have had better Seafood Spaghetti before. Not much for vegetarians here in the way of actual vegetables. Most salads and pastas contained some kind of meat or pork. Typical caprese salad was offered which is chunks of cheese with chunks of tomato. I suppose it's not their fault that Italian food is mostly meat or wheat but in this day and age when you've got customers who may be vegan, keto or gluten sensitive it'd be nice to give those folks some options too. read more

Considering that all of the places we've been in Banff/Jasper have been tourist death traps serving mediocre food for over-inflated prices, ALBA was a welcomed change. Came here after seeing Yelp reviews. My friend and I split the mushroom ravioli and the sirloin, which I ordered medium rare. The pasta was great- no complaints. I was disappointed that the steak arrived more medium. It was also a bit chewy - which may have been the result of it being over cooked. All in all, it was a good dining experience. My friend had their pork and it was terrible, you can't just cook pork with no seasoning, it is not steak. It was tasteless. Made a reso here for our first night in Jasper. Loved that it is a second floor restaurant and it was beautiful outside so we sat out on the patio and enjoyed some people watching of those on the Main Street below. Called around 7:30 and got a last minute table at 8:30 on a Sunday for Father's Day. They were able to accommodate 9 people. The restaurant is located in the town center of Jasper, on the second floor of a complex, making for really pretty views of the nearby mountains. We ordered the garlic bread and crispy calamari to start (we didn't receive any bread). Both were great and really filling. We ordered a variety of different dishes, but the standouts were definitely the gnocchi and mushroom ravioli. The gnocchi literally melted in your mouth and you were given a generous portion. If you ordered a small of the ravioli, you received 8 pieces, and they were really savory. The oxtail pasta has a great flavor, but the noodles had strange, bumpy/rigid texture that I wasn't used to. Not sure if that was purposeful or not. The rigatoni was a bit under seasoned, and the seafood spaghetti was good, but not outstanding. Overall, service was friendly and quick (we left around 1.5 hours after getting there), and the place had a nice, relaxing feel to it. read more

Alba was in general a really good experience. I was abit annoyed because we made resorvations and we were sat by the door where there was a cold draft. This was annoying because people who didn't have reservations (and we heard that because we we were by the door as they were being seated) had much nicer seating. Service was spotty. Not the server's fault, they seemed overwhelmed with the full dining room. Atmosphere seemed a little uncomforatble. Definately not a place to linger around to enjoy wine. Food wise amazing. We ordered calamari, my husband had the beef short rib rigatoni and I had the cabonara. The menu is really well thought out and there are many things that I would like to try. And I think that there is something for everyone here. The calamari was good but not stand outish. i really loved the dipping sauce that accompanied it that was flavoured by lemon. The pastas were amazing. Both were cooked perfectly and were so flavourful. And for the price point in Jasper, really worth the money. Our appetizer, the arancini, arrived pretty quickly once we ordered. The arancini were perfectly crisp on the outside and tasty on the inside, but they could have used a little salt. The sauce they were served with was delicious. The wild mushroom ravioli was a dream- super creamy and the textures were lovely together (pieces of mushroom inside and on top as well as button mushrooms on top and toasted walnuts and parsley). I normally don't love parsley, but I couldn't taste it in this dish. If you like cheese and mushrooms you'll love this dish! The gnocchi was also lovely served with a very tasty pomodoro sauce. The helpings are generous and the presentation is beautiful. Highly recommend this place! read more

We were told / read jasper food was all touristy and not to expect much in terms of quality / price. They were wrong. This place had amazingly friendly staff. The portion was massive. We had calamari to start and it was huge for 2 people. The pastas were double the size you would get at a usual Italian place and the price was good. Pasta was all cooked well and the sauces were flavourful. I highly recommend this place. We reserved ahead of time on open table but they had room for walk in. A cute new edition to the dining scene in Jasper! Looking for a meal that contained veggies - we were intrigued by the progressive menu online and decided to book a table. The hubs and I shared a couple dishes, the arancini (yum yum!) - crispy deep friend sicilian mushroom risotto ball served on a bed of pomodoro sauce and grated grana padano. They were perfectly cooked, with a crispy exterior and a silky delicious creamy middle. Next we loaded up on the Mezze Rigatoni - slow braised beef, wild mushroom, garlic, dried red pepper, and braising jus. This was mouth watering and delicious! The pasta was cooked perfectly, it was a little heavy but really good! For dinner I had the Alberta Bistecca - certified angus beef strip loin steak, served with roasted seasonal vegetables, yukon gold mash potatoes, salsa verde, and porcini reduction. At one point the owner came over to our table to ask about our dining experience and how our waitress was treating us - turns out it was her first day! We had no idea, she was serving like a pro, and it was fun to talk about the owners vision for the restaurant - he was super friendly and nice! There are some great seats right by the windows which have a fun view of downtown main street - but otherwise the interior is pretty plain. Alba is a classic Italian restaurant located in the heart of Jasper. They are located upstairs on Patricia street and their patio has an incredible view of the mountains (is there anywhere in Jasper that doesn't?!) There are only a couple vegetarian options on the small menu but both the Gnocchi Parmigiana and the Wild Mushroom Ravioli are worth the visit. If I had to choose between them, I'd say the ravioli has a slight edge but they're both great choices. The arancini appetizer is also a must-have. They were perfectly crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. Not only is all the food delicious, their presentation is also beautiful. For those that prefer to eat outdoors, get there early. The patio is fairly small but they do a good job of maximizing space for social distancing. It can get a bit chilly as the sun goes down but nothing a hot drink can't fix. It is a casual, fine dining spot for awesome pasta. I ordered the oxtail parpadelle as my main entrée. I loved everything about it. The pasta was soft and cooked perfectly. It was obvious that the parapdelle was handmade. The oxtail was immaculate. It was shredded, tasty, and tender like a great pulled pork. Next, the mushrooms complimented everything flawlessly. Finally, the sauce was solid. It did not jump out at me but it mixed in well with the rest of the dish. On the other hand, I also ordered the Crostini Platter and had mixed feelings. There were four pieces of crostini [like bruschetta bread]. Two of them had apple and prosciutto and the other two had smoked salmon and cream cheese. The prosciutto was solid. Almonds went surprisingly well with it. In terms of the salmon, it was legitimate wild salmon. In my opinion, there was way too much cream cheese on the salmon. It was huge chunks that overpowered the flavor of the fish. I could hardly taste the salmon on the first piece. I removed the cream cheese altogether on the other piece. I was also impressed with the owner. He had talked to me throughout my meal about the food and the Park. However, he did not tell me he was the owner until after I finished my meal. It was like he went undercover to get honest feedback about his food to improve his restaurant. In terms of crostini, he noticed I removed one piece of cream cheese and left it on the plate. He asked me about it even though I finished everything else. He noted that some diners like a lot and others want less cream cheese based on preference. Nevertheless, he took my opinion into consideration and I appreciated his dedication to deliver the highest quality. Very friendly and very attentive service. The server approached us several times thought-out the night, and politely asked to ensure that we enjoy the service and the food served. They also come by our table often to ensure our water is filled, they also ensured finish dishes on the table are cleared. The Italian bread that comes with the dish is dry on the inside, the crust is too hard for me to chew on. I took one bite thinking that the bread will definitely injure my gum if I dare to finish the whole piece. Crostini platter looks delicious. The piece of bread that they use are neither soft not crispy, it kinda give you weird feeling of texture when you take your first bite. Apart from that the taste is great. Seafood pot is served hot. The soup is full of flavors but slightly on the salty side. The shrimps cooked just right, however, the mussels doesn't seem to give me enough of the fresh taste that I was expecting. The duck cooked just right and presented well on the dish. However, the texture is on the dry side as I expected, just like majority of the western style duck dish. Such an unexpected delight! We were starved after a Lake Louise hike and followed the reviews to Alba's. We had the arugula salad with prosciutto and tomatoes and also shared the calamari. The dipping sauce for the calamari had a pleasant bite to it and the greens were very fresh with a light minty and subtle dressing. We shared the carbonara and again we're amazed that they were able to outdo the appetizers but the creaminess and smoky flavours blended so well. We had to ask if they made their own desserts as we wanted to try more of their exquisite cuisine and once again they did nothing to disappoint us. The tiramisu's subtle mixed flavours down to the grilled lady finger was a wonderful ending to the perfect meal. My husband had the pana cotta with rhubarb and berries was fresh, firm and creamy without being overly sweet. The service was excellent in their homey and friendly upstairs setting.
