We stopped here for dinner on a Sunday night because we were really craving pasta. It was fairly busy, but since we went early, we were seated right away. We chose to sit out on the patio since the weather was perfect. I was really in the mood for pesto, so we asked to have the chicken removed from the pesto pasta. Our waiter, who was incredibly kind and friendly, suggested adding vegetables instead, which was a great idea. We also ordered the Pane Farcito, which was fresh and delicious! Unfortunately, the pesto pasta itself was a little disappointing--the sauce was watered down and there was barely any pesto flavor. It tasted fine, but it didn't really deliver as true pesto. My husband and I had a lovely dinner here. Beautiful views when eating outside. There is gluten free pasta. I originally was ordering the bolognese but the server informed me it contained dairy (hats off to my server for catching this for me). I ended up ordering the arribbiata (Italian sausage, chili, marinara sauce and I ordered no fior di latte). It was yummy with a good portion. I appreciated that it was a flavorful red sauce and not just plain tomato. My husband got the carbonara gluten free add grilled chicken. He enjoyed it. This visit was about a year after the devastating wildfires nearly destroyed the town. The four of us got into town without reservations anywhere, and found this place across from the train station. They were able to seat us right away. The hostess and our waitress were both very friendly and served us competently throughout the meal. Great cocktail selection and all were very well made. The food was delicious. I had the Arribiata that normally comes with penne pasta. I was more in the mood for linguine and they were happy to substitute that for me. We he lunch here between a morning hike and a boat cruise. Parking, as with all restaurants in Jasper, is either on-street or in one of the large lots, but you pay (via the QR code / phone) either way. We needed to eat and head out in under an hour. In retrospect, if I had it to do over, I'd have come back here for dinner and had lunch at a pizza place down the street. The only reason I say that is that the service here was - leisurely. I'm not criticizing; under other circumstances, I'd have enjoyed 'leisurely'. As it was, it ended up cutting things a bit close. That aside, I am still giving this place high marks due to the food. My wife got the tuna burger and really enjoyed it - more than a more expensive tuna dish elsewhere for dinner the prior evening, in fact. She made mention of this a couple of times. As for me, I got the spaghetti pomodoro. I used to really enjoy this dish at a place north of San Francisco about 20 years ago (with angel hair pasta). This was just about as good. I think maybe we split a salad too, which was also quite good - the ingredients tasted extra fresh, etc. The only downside was the slight stress due to us being pressed for time - but that was really on us, not the restaurant. The food was great! If I returned to Jasper, I'd readily return here for a meal (making sure I had plenty of time to relax and enjoy it). read more

Okay, first things first. It's expensive, but then _everywhere _ is expensive now. Not keen on the $14.50 a glass wine, so we each had a Strongbow cider. My love had the cannoli (which was excellent), and I the sausage in penne dish (Aribaitia?). A side order of a garlic bread basket rounded out the meal. The food was subpar. Since the name of the place refer to Italian food, I thought that we would get some sort of pasta. But they offered 3 pasta dishes and everything else. The waitress suggested the Fish and Chip. So we ordered Fish and Chip, Pasta Bowl and a beer. The batter on that fish could have being used on 3-4 orders and the pasta was watery. I found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a shot regardless of the rating since many comments were regarding service. We walked in and was greeted by two women at the hostess stand. It was pretty empty when we arrived so we were able to sit in a nice spot by the window. They have old decor but home-y feeling. They had a special running for the month - 3 courses for $39. And mostly everything was included with a few items for a couple extra dollars. My friend and I went for that special. I ordered the cozze e vongole (mussels and clams). My friend order the pane farcito. We also put in our entrees - I got pasta with Bolognese and she got Penne with Arribiata. Our apps came out pretty quickly. The red sauce with the clams and mussels was good and came with bread to dip. It was a very big appetizer. I tried some of my friend's stuffed bread - it was delicious, but beware there is a lot of butter. Also, filling. We had to set them aside so we could ensure we had room for our entrees. There was a long lag time between app and main course. Our waitress did come over to apologize and keep us updated. When our pastas came out - I did wish it had more tomatoes in sauce but it was good. My friend also liked hers. We had lots of pasta leftover! The third course was dessert. We both got turtle cheesecake to go. It was just okay. That was my least favorite of the meal. Other than a little wait time and the couple things with the food, the waitresses were very friendly and teamed up to ensure our table stay cleaned and drinks stayed full. We decided to eat here after a chilly day exploring the surrounding areas of Jasper. I am celiac and find it challenging to find something gluten free to eat in Jasper that isn't automatically gluten free (ie., a salad). Their website indicates that they can make almost everything on the menu gluten free, so we gave it a go! We both had the 3 course meal for $39 (I believe it's a winter special) and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had the Smoked Salmon Carpaccio to start; it came with 2 slices of gluten free bread, delicous smoked salmon (a good portion), and the red chili jelly was delicious! It could be enough for 2-3 people, but I enjoyed it all to myself For the main course, I got the Siciliana - made with corn noodles. It was also a delicious plate, and had a very generous amount of ingredients in the dish. For dessert, I got to enjoy the Turtle Cheescake, drizzled with chocolate syrup and a dollop of whipped cream. I dont get to enjoy dessert often when we are out, and this was so yummy! In addition to our great meal, we took advantage of the cocktails on the special menu - also well done and would recommend. Our waitress, Peggy, was very warm and we had great service all night. I would HIGHLY recommend this place as a gluten free option in Jasper. If we had more time visiting, we would have likely ate here nightly. I seems that they understand what celiac is, and take measures to reduce your risk of eating out, which is something I greatly appreciate. read more

Loved our experience at Cassio's! The mozzarella bread appetizer was so gooey and delicious and was a delightful way to start our meal. The selection of Italian wines is impressive and the ambiance is serene and inviting without being overly stuffy. Our server was amazing and addressed our many questions and concerns with patience and a smile. The piccata was delicious, as were all three of the pasta dishes we tried. We were not told about the evening specials, perhaps it was too early. Overall the carbonara was decent, the pollo in butter was average. She then proceeded to tell us how everyone else loved it and she agreed with them, practically arguing wth us. Waitress was very nice (the only reason for the 2-star), but the food is not good. Thought pasta was a safe choice but this was very disappointing. Pasta was over cooked, sauce tasted like jarred sauce, and the calamari tasted and looked like nachos. I chose a pasta dish with chicken, shrimp and sausage and there wasn't any shrimp and the meat was not good. On top of it all, it was pretty pricey for what it is. I hope there are better restaurants in Jasper. read more

Great atmosphere, fast friendly staff and very accommodating. Jasper has a wide range of cuisines but with in each the selection is limited. For Italian food this place does very well. The pasta was fresh and there was an overall freshness to all the ingredients. I definitely recommend Cassio's if you are in Jasper. I am adding a small edit to this review. Nothing in the above changed but it did write it prior to getting the bill. My wife and I each ordered a pasta dish priced the same. Our son who is very picky about food had spaghetti tossed with butter, no sauce no meat just plain. The result was that all 3 of our orders came to the same price. It was just a little disappointing to pay the same for a simple bowl of pasta. We did order something not on the menu so I have no issue paying but I feel the extra level of customer service would be to have offered a modified price. Bad first impression after getting seated. The hostess was quite rude about asking to remove your hat inside the restaurant. We were waiting outside for a few minutes and I never seen any notification of these "rules" of no headwear. It's strange as most of us had t-shirts and shorts on so obviously there's no dress code. After a long day of work, me and three others were seriously craving some Italian food, so decided to check out Cassio's. The atmosphere is great, with very nice décor, but be aware that there is a bit of an enforced dress code. No hats and no sleeveless shirts, but that is not to be unexpected for a more upscale establishment. This place definitely seemed authentically Italian...right down to the tell-it-like-it-is, no-BS manager. She is a little snarky but fair, and definitely has a passion for what she does. There was also a moment that we figured out we could save a bit of $$$ on our wine selection if we got a half liter, rather than each getting a glass of the same variety, which is something that should have been pointed out to us by our server. I'm not sure if it was an oversight, or just trying to make the extra few bucks. Food was great, atmosphere great, wine fantastic, and my Tiramisu dessert was TO DIE FOR.
