I called and left a message with my name and number, and that II was on my way to their shop and wanted a pedicure. When I got there, 2 people were working on clients. They said it would be an hour before I could get a pedicure. They called me back in 15 minutes and said they could take me right away. I liked my pedicure and how the tech scrubbed my feet the way I requested. The shop was neat and clean. Their prices were reasonable for 2023. If I am in the neighborhood, and I need a pedicure, I will certainly think of Albany Nail Salon. read more

I've been here a few times, today it took 1.75 hours to get a gel mani/pedi. My nails were also cut so short to the point where they hurt. They are very meticulous with cleaning but perform tasks in a different order than I've ever seen. I would recommend a non gel nail service maybe, but the price I paid did not reflect the service done read more

This is The Best nail salon I've ever been to. The whole staff is professional. They concentrate on their work without making small talk while simultaneously being responsive to their customers. During the height of the pandemic, the salon remained immaculate, with screens around individual work spaces and masks on everyone. Tina, the owner, schedules the appointments, avoiding long waits for the customers. The staff is well trained and careful whether doing nail and cuticle trimming or fancy polishing jobs. This is my first time here. I walked in and noticed they were very concerned with covid-19 and that I was comfortable. They took my temperature and asked me to wash my hands. I appreciate them asking. I was shown to my seat and my wife in the seat next to me. I love the massage chairs. It makes for a wonderful experience. My pedicurist who is named Ruby was nice. Very politely put up a screen between us so she could work on my feet. The place was clean so I had no worries about using or touching any of their equipment. Ruby begin to work on my feet and she has a very light touch. I had one foot that had a bit of a ingrown nail and she very expertly dealt with that situation and I had wonderful relief again. My wife and I were extremely satisfied with the service and the price and will return again in 2 months to have a follow-up. It's My Moment of Zen and being able to relax and let go. I have been going to Albany Nail Salon for almost 20 years and have always had a wonderful experience. Tina is great and gives the best pedicures. I have been to various high-end salons and had "fancy" pedicures in more glamorous settings but none has lasted as well as the ones I get at Albany Nails. I always call in advance and make an appointment since they can get busy and have lots of regular clients that book ahead. You can get in as a walk-in but you may have a wait. The other reviewers that complained about not being given an appointment when they walked in at 5:30 when closing time was 7:30, did not factor the regular scheduled appointments which were probably coming in during that time period. Wife and I been coming here for a few years. Tina the owner has resolved by ingrown nail problems. I have been to the foot doctor and dermatologist for surgery and they were not able to address my ingrown nails. With COVID-19, the salon takes your temperature and have you wash your hands. Everything is clean and safe as can be. Plastic partitions are used as protection. read more

They are the best! All their staff is vaccinated; they listen daily to CDC guidelines and follow them closely. I feel very safe having my manicure and pedicure done there. Not only does everyone wear a mask but they also have partitions set up between chairs.Now during Covid-19 times, they only take very few customers at any one time so you are never next to someone you don't know- unless you come in with a friend. I came to this nail salon because of the rating but couldn't be more disappointed. My cuticles and the nail polish were not removed properly. I complained about that 3 times but the manicure couldn't see the problem. My first guess is that she had a huge vision issue. Nevertheless, her careless and impatience to perform any function prove that it wasn't only the vision issue but a lack of professionalism. I'm used to have my nails done for at least 20 years and this was one of the few worst experiences I had during this time. I've been going here more frequently for pedicures lately because there is free parking on Solano Ave. in Albany, it's quiet, they are nice, do a good job, not stuffy or smelly of lots of chemicals and polishes, average price, and great massage chairs. I *love* their massage chairs! I do not get manicures very often and have never gotten one at Albany Nail Salon, so can't comment on those, but the pedicures are well done. Better to call ahead a couple hours if you want to be assured of a spot (with some flexibility depending on their staffing and walk-ins, of course). read more

The owner asked us to sit down and she started to get everything ready while the other staff member finishes up with her current client. So I got a mani/pedi mother's day gift for this salon so I went, though I usually frequent another place. The place is quiet except for old school radio on, which is fine with me. The service was adequate and my hands and feet are once again in presentable shape. I felt that overall they weren't particularly friendly. Not cold, hostile or dismissive, just not very friendly. They adhere very strictly to their protocol and the service comes off as being very impersonal. Like I said, it was adequate but not very warm. Since I was there, I opted to have a facial as well. Now that was an experience. I've never in all my years had anyone man handle my face quite like that. I probably should have taken a cue when Cee-Lo Green's "Fuck You" came on the radio. Her movements are hard and abrupt. At one point she smothered my face in some kind of cream that smelled like Pond's cold cream (it wasn't, she showed me the tube), and began to "massage" my face. Actually, this massage was more like slapping, which continued for maybe 15 minutes. I was on the verge of asking her to stop, when she decided I'd taken enough abuse and started smearing some kind of mud mask. Then she "massaged" my shoulders and arms, which was less a massage than a fast-paced perfunctory smearing of oil. That done, she fanned the goo on my face to hasten the drying and then scraped it off with a plastic spatula. Yes, she scraped my facial skin clean of dried mud with plastic. Finally, she smeared some moisturizer, and did some weird smacking thing on my forehead and she was done. Now I've had a LOT of facials in my life, and this one was the least relaxing (actually it was alarming) and the products they use smell very unnatural. However, my skin feels clean, but then it has no choice after that beating. I might go back for a mani/pedi as they are pretty quick and the price is good, but never will I have that facial again! My face is almost in pain from being scrubbed, scraped and slapped for an hour. My toes, however, look fabulous in electric blue polish! read more

It's a good place. The pedicures last well and the atmosphere is pleasant. My gripe was that although I always made an appointment I always waited 15 to 30 minutes or more after I got there. I suspect they take whoever comes in the door even if someone with an appointment is due in five minutes. I get that. They can't afford to let those people get away. But after six or eight times in a row -- and one bizarre screw-up where I booked two pedicures and brought a relative but somehow they did her but never got to me -- I moved on to another place. read more

Sunday, 9/16/12 I came here at the suggestion of a friend. She called ahead and asked for an appointment for me and my friends. There was a total of three of us. We arrived few minutes later than the appointment time. Because of our tardiness, we ended waiting for over 30 minutes. They didn't get to me until after 45 minutes of waiting. **I later found out that my friend did not include over the phone that there were three of us and that the staff thought there would only be two of us.** Something that is worth noting is that even though there were at least 5 vacant seats, they only had three people working, which made it difficult for both the customer and the staff. Also, the waiting area only consists of two chairs. This meant that I had to stand until they realized they didn't have enough space and let me sit in one of the vacant work chairs. Thank goodness I read the reviews of this place while I was waiting. Unless you are a regular, you will not know that they have a small bounty of magazines. They are located in the drying area which is sort of outlined from the rest of the room. If you plan to use your 3G or 4G while in the spa chairs, good luck. I only had reception by the windows at the front. The color selection was pretty good, but not excellent. The massage machines work pretty well. For a store with four spa chairs and four manicure station, it is pretty understaffed for a Sunday. I agree with some reviews that the staff lacks skills for making the client feel welcomed. However, they do make an effort once you are seated. If you are getting a pedicure, be prepared for at least a 10 minute soak before they get back to you. At first it was a nice touch to have orange scented bathing salts rubbed onto my feet and ankles. However after those around me also had them, I felt like I was at a dentist's office. I'm not sure if it was a mistake or not, but when soaking my hands for the manicure, they added dish soap. It didn't feel good and my hands continued to smell of dish soap even 6 hours later. In conclusion, even though the actual manicure and pedicure were alright, I will NOT be returning because of the dish soap soaking method and lack of a welcoming atmosphere. If they hire more people and are more precise when informing people with wait times, I might come back. read more

This past weekend i went up north for a little get away. While i was there i decided to do my nails.. i came across Albany nails salon and decided to give it a try. I got a full set.. but have i known they were going to fall two days later i wouldn't have gotten them. The lady that did my nails was bad (don't remember her name) she asked me how long i wanted my acrylics and when i told her she said that they were too long (like lady, mind your business... I'm paying lol) and then i asked for matte. only it came out to be not the matte you see anywhere else. Not what i expected. I have another nail that seems to be wanting to fall off. no.. just no. you've think i'd learn my lesson from the last time I didn't go to my "regular place" . My place was closed, and i'd seen this place on yelp and figured I'd give it a try. My nails were looking HORRIBLE and getting so long that they were starting to break. Let's make one thing clear: I am the same way with my nails that I am with haircuts - it'll grow back... So it can never be THAT bad or something that won't grow back.. ESPECIALLY nails... I went in asked for a mani, and was told the standard next thing: "pick your color." I noticed they didn't have a lot of colors, but i'm also not particular - lately i've just been into the nude shade. I have a couple in my hand, but clearly still browsing. My manicurist comes up to me, and starts pushing me to her station telling me I could choose there. ok, whatever, like I said, i'm not picky about colors. I sit down and she made me chose right then and there - ok whatever.... Admittedly, my nails were REALLY LONG, and starting to chip on the corners. I told my manicurist that I wanted my nails to just be even. Showing her that if she were to trim my "shortest" nail and even out the top that I would want them to be THAT length. she nodded. she trimmed my nails. and started filing them, i told her i liked square and she nodded. I spaced out because that's what you do at a nail salon. She showed me my left hand - making sure that everything was cool. my nails were ALL different lengths, and shapes, and not filed straight. So i apologized and tried to explain it again, I showed her my shortest nail (my left index finger) and said, do you mind making them all this length and square please. She was, visibly really upset and sighed, and told me, "you said you didn't want them short". I tried to explain again, and she waved at me and said ok ok ok. at this point she gets the nail trimmer and cuts them SHORTER - just so my nail goes over the skin. Obviously, I didn't want uneven nails, so i just told myself. they'll grow back. whatever.. but again.. they ended up rounded.... After the horrible hand massage there's the part where they use rubbing alcohol (basically) on your nails to clean the tops of your nails.. my manicurist rubbed that ALL over my arms and hands, and poured extra on the top of my nails. Which i thought was a bit unnecessary. Polishing.. they used O.P.I - the polish wasn't gooey, or gross - it was actually that perfect, pretty much new consistency. This woman was already annoyed with me, so she didn't take much care in painting my nails very well at all. First coat goes on - and i notice it doesn't cover my whole nail - ok w/e.. second coat goes on - i'll figure i'll let it dry a bit. The color i got was like a red clay meets sepia (but less red)... as the two coats started to dry, I noticed, that it wasnt on the side of my nail - the color making the distinction VERY obvious. i profusely apologize to her, and show her the side and how it's not painted. Also, you know when you don't paint over the same spot, so you have a semi sheer color and the the darker part? - yeah.. all 5 of my left hand. and same thing with my right hand. I pointed it out to her (b/c really i'm paying for my nails to get completely painted) more obviously annoyance from her, when she explains to me - that I was moving way to much. She started putting on the top coat, and things are drying and she accidentally hits my nail and i noticed a nick.. i point it out, and she pretty much gets pissed at me. at this point we've gone back and forth from regular polish to top coat to regular polish to top coat about 3-4 times. My nails aren't smooth at the edges so you get that weird frayed look with the polish over it too. She turned the light off to escort me to the drying area and at this point i'm starting to get annoyed. While trying to dance around the rolling chair she immediately grabs my stuff and puts it in the chair where my nails are supposed to dry.. and leaves me awkwardly trying to not "screw up my nails" and moving the rolling chair by myself. Another one of the ladies at this point was helping me get to the area. Bottom line is.. my manicurist was really rude and full of attitude. Not only was she CLEARLY IN A RUSH (which sure - time is money) but at this point you're just screwing up my nails more and everyone is getting annoyed. I tried to alleviate the situation by just apologizing and being empathetic - they've probably been doing this all day dealing with shitty people. Never the less, i'm never ever ever ever going back here. read more

Ohhhh - I'm finally first to review something!!!!!!!!!!! Sweet! and the Nail Salon is sweet too! I go their for my pedicure straight up style. No decals or acrylic or any of the other hoo ha you can get on your nails. $20 gets me a pedi that lasts a month. They've got the salon tubs for soaking, give a nice massage, get me all cleaned up down there so my tootsies are soft and supple. Nice selection of colors and nice women. They don't try to talk to me and let me get caught up on all the trashy mags they have. $20 for an hour of kid-free pampering. What more could you ask for? read more

I went to get a manicure here for the first time Sunday and was very disappointed. Their color selection is very limited. As I was getting my manicure I noticed my manicurist pulled out the tools from a box meaning they were not cleaned, I chose to look past this. As she began to do my manicure she asked me how I liked my nails and I asked that she trim and make them square. In the middle of my manicure, I had to switch chairs and do my right hand with a different manicurist. My nails are all different shapes, none of which are squared as I asked and the paint job was really poor. I will not return and don't recommend this nail salon to anyone who wants a decent nail service. read more

If I get a manicure and pedicure, no more than an hour and a half. Ladies (and gentlemen), take an hour or so out of your day to truly pamper yourselves at Albany Nail Salon. $22 for a pedi.... I don't mind paying but I want to feel like my business is wanted when I walk into a place like this. My pedi looks good, but the manicurist really didn't do much as far as being attentive and welcoming. When she was done with the polish, she took my stuff (um, honey next time don't take my flip flops please, I don't want to walk in your salon barefoot!!) and left me in the drying station. It was then that I realized I missed out on the tons of smut (us weekly, people, lucky magazine) that no one ever informed me of..... Maybe if I am desparate for an okay polish job and little to no human interaction (and ugly looks from the old ladies in the shop) will I come back (...and if my sister is willing to pay!!). read more

I went in for an eyebrow tint and was very shocked by the type of service I received. They did a horrible job. Instead of making my eyebrows lighter like I asked, they made them even darker. After a few unsatisfying visits to The Nail Shop, I decided to try the Albany Nail Salon down the street. It is wonderful. Especially compared to The Nail Shop. The women who work there are friendlier - they aren't talking in Vietnamese nearly as much (which I think is rude to do it incessantly). And they are much more thorough with their services period. They are much more careful with the manicures, pedicures and waxing. And overall I definitely think it is more sanitary on the whole. Also, the prices are comparable if not the same with The Nail Shop. I was very satisfied with my manicure and pedicure and the friendly service of all the women there. And I was especially satisfied with the waxing there. I get everything waxed, and it was almost painless. Actually the most painless waxing experience I have ever had in my life!! I HIGHLY recommend this place for waxing if nothing else. read more
