Ambiance is 5 stars! Louie's pedicure 5 stars. So glad I tried this place. It is located on a block with other nail shops. So I assume competition is fierce. The owner "Kelly" was quick to answer all my questions via text. She was welcoming & friendly. However appeared nervous and she kept talking to Louie & making him nervous. Not sure if she was rushing him or what. Which felt uncomfortable. She did it often in my 60 minutes. Then while he was painting my toenails she rushed over & reached under my legs by an inch or so to pull plastic tub cover out from the bowl. Hello! My toes are getting painted... And the kicker was no customer came in after that. So it wasn't necessary. She didn't need my chair. That's the reason I gave 4 stars. I do feel bad; she got her incense holder, incense, offerings & platter stolen & broken while I was getting my feet done. Which probably put her on edge. I think her shop is the busiest because she cares so much. I really like my pedicure from Louie!

My pedicure with an acrylic fill and French tip was pure perfection! The painting was flawless and the massage left my feet feeling brand new. (Feet finder ready! lol jk) The salon was spotless and the customer service was amazing friendly, professional, and attentive from start to finish. My boyfriend got a pedicure too and loved the deep clean and precise nail trimming. Overall it was a five-star experience: clean, relaxing, and beautifully done. I'll definitely be coming back! Actually we'll be coming back. Also keep in mind that parking is a little difficult given that it is located on a main street so give yourself extra time.

They even made my short stumpy hand look nice with short nails!

Came here for the first time today as a walk-in for a gel manicure/pedicure! I've never had such precision service as I have received here today. I was offered refreshments and a complete price list up front for services to choose from. Bee was very thoughtful and took her time with my pedicure as it had been a while... and my manicure was on point as well! Overall I would highly recommend this salon as it's clean, staff are very attentive, prices are comparable to other places but the service makes this place stand out! Thank you so much for my visit today! Please tip generously because they do not disappoint !

Tony did my feet so good, I felt so relaxed I could've fallen asleep right there! And VY did my nails in literally 30 minutes the design is absolutely TEA! I think I finally found my new nail shop! Not only are they talented, but their prices are affordable too. Everyone was professional, welcoming, and worked their magic. I was in dire need of a last-minute nail appointment for New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. I messaged the shop on Yelp the evening of 12/30 and was promptly responded to by Kelly who was able to squeeze me in on New Year's Eve morning. While on the phone, Kelly was very informative about the parking situation and what types of payment they take (cash, card, Zelle, Venmo). She was a very appreciative of my business and look forward to seeing me the next day. Upon arrival I was nicely greeted and sat promptly asking what I would like to drink, which was so nice. The nail tech I happen to get was VY, which I had heard great things about so I was very excited. I showed some inspo photos to VY and she began her work. As she was doing her work she was walking me through her steps and reassuring what her process was and always making sure that I was satisfied with the shape and nail color. When it came to doing the flowers on my nails she suggested adding little vines so it wouldn't look so bare and I agreed so she added them on. She was not pushy at all, if anything she mentioned that if I ultimately did not like it, we can easily remove it and keep my nails as is. I really loved her suggestion and kept it. She was very easy-going. VY was also very efficient and fast with her work, but not rushing at all, again she took her time and always made sure that I was satisfied with my nails. My appointment was at 10:45am, I got seated promptly and I was out by 11:40am. As I was checking out, there was another customer in front of me who was about to leave, and Kelly asked her where she had parked. Kelly offered to walk her to her car with an umbrella since it was drizzling outside. Although the customer politely declined, Kelly was adamant that she walk her to her car so that she wouldn't get wet. That customer, myself, and even a customer who was getting their pedicure were in awe of the service Kelly was giving! Not only that, but I had mentioned about some unfortunate family situation of mine and Kelly was so sweet to give her condolences and give a hug as well, lol! Overall, my manicure experience was fantastic and the customer service was impeccable. I did not get a pedicure, but I would assume it's just as good. I definitely will be coming back to this spot. I do want to mention that this shop is on the main San Pablo Rd. so as others have mentioned, please give yourself enough time to find parking.

I've been getting my nails done by Vy for 6 months now. She is meticulous and I always leave with a perfect manicure. Came back for a gel removal and regular lacquer manicure. The tech has amazing nails which she does herself, so I know I was in good hands. She did a great job, very thorough and precise. The staff followed up about my pedicure experience last time, which I really appreciated. This shop clearly wants to build a loyal and happy client base. I had such a great experience at Nails by Ken. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was incredibly warm and welcoming. The owner, Madame Kelly, clearly has genuine relationships with her customers -- I watched her greet people like old friends, and the whole salon celebrated when one customer shared a positive health update. It really showed how much they care about their clients. Cindy did my nails and did an amazing job. I came in needing a fill on my builder gel nails and one broken nail fixed, and she completely elevated the entire set. The shape is perfect, my cuticles look so clean, and the overall manicure is super polished and healthy-looking. I love a simple, clean set and she absolutely nailed it. The customer service was also top tier. They offered me apple juice in a champagne glass when I arrived, which was such a thoughtful touch. Before I left, Madame Kelly also did my eyebrows and somehow brought them back to life -- they look so much better. Everything was done with care and attention to detail. This was my first visit, but it definitely won't be my last. read more

I had such a great experience today during my first visit to Nails by Ken. everyone was very nice and my nail technician, Vy, was amazing! I was not happy with the last several services I had at another salon, and Vy really took the time to listen and consult with me. she remedied the problems and I love my new Gel x set! as long as it lasts well, which I think it will, I will be a new regular with Vy! Shoutout to my artist Vy she did an AMAZING job. -Fast (Did my full set of long nails in an hour a 15 with incredible precision) -High quality - Amazing customer service (everyone was so friendly and caring) - Did exactly what I asked for but better -Good pricing (My set was 100 for Long gel X with ombre cat eye and chrome designs with gems) -Clean and calming environment -Easy to get to (5 minute walk from el cerrito bart) -Quick responses to appointment requests as well as flexible with timing. -Bathroom! -WiFi! -Nail fix FOR FREE if one falls off within 6 weeks of getting them If you're debating when to get your nails done... I had such an amazing experience here that I had to leave a review. Vy did my gel extensions in just 45 minutes, which honestly blew me away because she did not sacrifice quality at all. The shape, technique, and overall finish are beautiful and very well done. What impressed me even more is how well they lasted. My nails stayed on for over a month and a half with zero lifting, even through very active travel, swimming, surfing, doing dishes, opening cans, etc.. That level of durability is rare and really speaks to the quality of her work. On top of that, all of the employees were incredibly kind and welcoming. They offered me tea during my appointment, and when I was leaving, they even offered to walk me to my car with an umbrella since it was sprinkling. That level of thoughtfulness really stood out to me. The salon itself has a great ambiance, clean, relaxing, and comfortable, and the pricing is very reasonable for the quality you get. This place is absolutely amazing! I came in on a Tuesday afternoon to get my nails done by Kelly and her husband, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. This place is absolutely amazing! I came in on a Tuesday afternoon to get my nails done by Kelly and her husband, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. The vibe of the salon was very welcoming and hospitable. I had Vy as my technician and she was absolutely amazing! I went in with acrylic, she took one look at them and said I'm taking these off because your nails aren't healthy underneath, how do you feel about gel x? I told her I was happy to try but had not had much luck in the past, she assured me they would last 4 weeks. At other salons when I have had gel x, the curing process felt like a hot fire on my nails. Vy's way of doing gel x didn't cause any pain! I showed her a picture of the nails I wanted and she matched it to a T. She made sure I liked each step of the nail process and asked for feedback throughout the process (she was also very fun to talk to). I walked out with the best nails I've had in months. I have been a client at Nails By Ken for a while now. It broke my heart to make the decision to remove my nails. We are having our house renovated/remodeled so we had to move out to. I broke a few nails during our move and my nail technician actually advise me to remove my nails until we were done with moving. I was surprised because this is how she earned her bread and butter, yet at the same time I gained a greater respect for her to know that she wasn't all about the money, but actually cared about me! I cannot say enough about the professionalism, artistic nature the technicians have and the warmth that I feel when I enter this salon. Vy is my new nail hero! Besides magically transforming my nails, she is super knowledgeable about the technology and techniques of all things nail and nail art. Vy is also easy to engage with and very straightforward without being pushy. I feel absolutely comfortable with her. My first time seeing her was when I needed an emergency fill because I was going out of town unexpectedly. My regular nail shop wouldn't take me so Vy saved the day. Overall very good services done here. I come here about every 3-5weeks because the quality of the nails last for a while. I've gone to others and it just does not compare. The atmosphere is calm and they have so many different colors to choose from. The ladies are all just kind! I was recommended by a family member and now I come here and brought my sister as well. First time coming here, fantastic experience. They offered me tea, among other bev options. Which is nice. I got a regular mani & pedi. The scrub and care that went into the pedicure was so nice! Great prices, especially the 20% they're having right now, since they're new. The place has a nice vibe, bright, clean, and warm. Plenty of color choices. I'm definitely coming back. I got my nails done here recently and they did an amazing job! Everyone in the shop was super sweet and attentive. They got the exact design I wanted done a lot quicker than I imagined and my set turned out amazing. My go to nail technician is Vy. She is great, friendly and remembers how I like my nails. She also lets me know of new colors. I'm very picky about shape and Vy gets it right. I highly recommend Vy. It was my very first time coming in and I am absolutely stunned by the customer service they give to all their customer. They made me feel welcomed I had a 3:30 appointment and walked in and nail tech Vy was all ready for me. They have complementary beverages and that just adds a cherry on top. Very welcoming friendly and respectful. Enjoyable environment. But the quality of work is average to good. I love the pedicure. I love all the staff. Specially kelly as the reception is so welcoming. Very friendly staff and would highly recommend. First time I did a walk-in and got Mason who did a perfect job doing my nails as I requested. The second time, I had VY who did my nails based on her inspiration and made my nails look gorgeous. Kelly also did my brows which I am very happy with. Will definitely come back again! read more
