My experience here was disappointing. From the moment I walked in, I felt an off energy from the main technician/owner. She was cold, unfriendly, and clearly in a rush to finish my manicure. She seemed more focused on getting to her lunch than on doing her job. The entire manicure took about 10 minutes, with no care or attention. I mentioned that my thumb felt uncomfortable during the service. She briefly looked at it and said everything was fine - and went back to her lunch. By the next day, the skin around my nail was red, irritated, and I'm now dealing with what appears to be the start of an infection. It feels like the cuticle was cut aggressively and possibly with tools that weren't properly sanitized. The only positive part of my visit was the assistant who did my pedicure. She was gentle, attentive, and took the time to fix an ingrown nail carefully. I really appreciated her kindness. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place due to the owner's attitude (mentioned in the reviews before), lack of sanitation, and the rushed, careless service. read more

I've been going to Golden Nails since they opened under the original ownership over 20 years ago. It's not the glitziest place, nor do they do fancy nail designs etc, but the married couple who own it are nice, hard working people who are professional and experienced. Their prices are reasonable and it's easy to get a walk-in or pre-scheduled appointment. Metered parking is also generally easy, or park around the corner where it's free. Pretty happy with my acrylic full set $45 and pedicure $30! ( though some recent reviews said they got acrylic for $43?) Got a whole massage chair experience while I got my pedicure which was very nice. I only had to wait like ten minutes for me to get my nails done. They had slightly limited color options (at least for acrylic) and I'm not sure if they do a lot of special designs but I like the shaping of the nail and bead. Definitely coming back if I want something basic. I didn't get to cure my nails as much as I did in other salons so not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing. One nail coat did get a bit messed up on my way out and another feels softish.. and spilled over...oh well! Still overall not bad for the price. Also, each nail tech in there worked on me so I think they really optimize their skill sets! I've come back a few times after my main shop closed and it's been sufficient when I'm desperate. This time though, I had to keep asking for them to take old polish off again, like 3-4 times! All I got was a sheer glitter fill on my nails and a French tip for my toes (no deluxe pedicure) and they charged me $110? Prices say $40 for fill and $35 for gel pedicure, so I must've gotten charged $20 extra for french tip and $15 for... removing polish? The lady here is always rude to me and obviously made up a price on the spot but after half my nails lifted in 3 days and an uneven French tip, I'm never going back. read more

I really wanted to like this place. This is my first time coming here since it was closer to me and couldn't make the trip to my usual nail lady in Walnut Creek. Kim did a great job with my pedicure. After years of sticking to plain Gel I decided to get a full Acrylic set with gel and chrome for my manicure. I wanted to do something different and was excited! Kevin helped me and was nice. He was quick but didn't take the time to clean up my cuticles. I also noticed a lot of gaps between my actual nail and acrylic nail that's suppose to be glued together so it wouldn't lift (see photos). The gel-like powder was also layered down far from my cuticles so it looks like it's been grown out for some time. When Kevin was done there was another customer that came in as a walk-in for a full set so he passed me off to Daisy to add the color. I asked for bubble bath and to add chrome on top. I didn't know what color chrome to put so we tried a few. One had a blue-ish green tint. When she brushed it off I could hardly tell there was chrome on top of my nails and asked her if it was noticeable. At this point Daisy seemed to grow impatient and said it's suppose to look like that when I mentioned I could only see the blueish green color at the top of my cuticles and the edges. She ignored me and started to add the clear coat and told me it would go away. When I was done I mentioned to her that I could only still see the blue color on the edges of my nail so she told me to wash my hands and it will go away. I walk to the sink to wash my hands and I told Daisy that I still see the color up top. She then threw this white brush and told me to scrub it off and walks away! I was SHOCKED!!!! Not to mention the cleanliness of the place did not look up to standard. I washed my hands and when I went to pay she pulled up a photo and said all chromes look different. It seemed like she wanted to prove a point so I told her I understood and that I've gotten chrome on my nails before. I paid and left. I will not be coming back to this place and was disappointed with the service because I thought I would end up a happy customer based on a few reviews I've read before coming. Price is decent and less expensive than other places but it's true that you get what you pay for. read more

10 stars! I'm a guy and I like to get a pedicure because I don't want gnarly toenails. It's always been uncomfortable for me to go to a women's nail salon and be the only guy, and I always felt like I was overpaying, since I basically only got my toenails cut and don't get polish. Well, my toenails were on the way to gnarly and I needed a trim. It's summer and they're out for the world to see, so I wasn't going to cut them myself. I knew this nail salon was there, because I've eaten next door. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but I figured I'd check it out. I went in and asked how much for a pedicure. I could see a listed price of $45. To my surprise, one of the women showed me a price card with a "male pedicure spa" for $35. Even better! And they took me right away. The pedicure was great, but the "spa" was even better. I got a foot and leg massage, and my feet and legs were scrubbed and moisturized. Even when I was paying full price (usually $40 or more) I never got this much service. I was so happy to find a place that acknowledges that men also want to get their nails done and is willing to offer us a reasonable price and full service. I'll be back! read more

I called the day of to make an appointment for 6:15, but I ended up showing up at 6:00 and they took me in. David did my nails and they look soooo good! I am in love!! I showed him two pictures and he was able to give me exactly what I wanted! He also paid so much attention to detail which I really appreciated. The store itself has a wide range of nail polishes to choose from, and they use DND gel which I have found is the gel polish that lasts longest on my nails/acrylics. Made a reservation for 1030am, arrived a few min early, were greeted and treated promptly and courteously. I found the place unassuming, standard clean (like The Nail Shop on Solano), similarly priced to other places in the local area, and efficient. I was hours away from home, and frankly feeling a tad desperate to have my nails done. My lifelong manicurist won't be happy with me, but desperation makes us do crazy things. I yelped the area, and read through the reviews to see what the recos read as. Most everyone said that Kevin did a great job. Great! I called and specifically booked my appointment with Kevin. The salon isn't anything special on the outside, or on the inside. I stood there wondering if I could leave, but decided that it was worth taking a chance on. They seated me at a table, provided bottled water, and a small bowl of paper wrapped ginger candies. Nice touch ! One of the ladies that works there came over to start removing my polish. She started shaping my nails. She asked what I thought. I was diplomatic and told her that I didn't like the shape. She had over filed my nails, and I was wondering where Kevin was. After an exchange between the two, Kevin came over, and decided that I needed a new set. Ugh. Kaching I didn't let my irritation get to me, because as Kevin was working on my nails, it's been years since I've had anyone use such precision, and show great care as he proceeded to remove and shape my natural nails. Kevin is amazing. I don't know about the other nail specialists, but he truly was worth the money. He was speedy, clean, and had me out of there in just a tad over an hour. This is unheard of for a full nail set. If you're in the area, and in need of a pedi, mani, or both, overlook the basic, book with Kevin and enjoy. This was my first time getting acrylic nails and I have to say I can see why people get them now. I'm embarrassed to say that previously I did not understand why people would get them as I thought that they were strange looking but now I have to say that I love them and so pretty!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE It was my first time here. I did not get the tech I scheduled with (who was full on busy with another client when I arrived). I guess they don't take requests of specific nail techs seriously. Since it was my first visit and the shop had overall good reviews, I stayed and let the tech do her thing. However, I did have issues with how she was doing things. For instance some nails were noticeably thicker than others. I guess she got tired of me pointing out what I didn't like or making requests because she got up, said something to the owner and never came back. The owner ended up painting my nails. Then I was just left there. No one ever came back to check if my nails were dry or just overall ready to go. Came here after getting a terrible full set from another nail salon. I'm crazy OCD about acrylics, and it was just lumpy and thick. Kevin fixed them right up, made them natural looking and just charged me for a gel manicure even though he had to buff away so much of the old acrylic. read more
