I've rented from this company on 4 different occasions. The first time I went here, I rented a forklift. I got a few miles down the road and came up to a stop sign. While slowing to a stop, I looked in the rear view mirror and saw that the fork lift wasn't stopping at the same rate my truck was. They failed to strap it down to the trailer correctly and the forklift almost came off of the trailer and into oncoming traffic. The second time I rented a extending boom forklift. They had to deliver it because it was to large to fit on a regular equipment trailer. After running it for a few hours, I shut it down for lunch and when I went back to start it up again it wouldn't run. I called the store and they were supposed to send a mechanic out to fix it but it ended up sitting in my yard for over a week before they decided to come get it. The third time using Albany Rental, I rented a back hoe. After running it for a few hours, I went to deploy the outriggers to dig a trench and it blew a hydraulic hose. This happened on a Saturday just before their closing time. When I called, they weren't going to send a mechanic out until Monday. The particular job I was doing had to be done before Monday morning. Since their repair guy didn't get there until Monday afternoon, I was unable to finish. And finally the fourth and last time I rent anything from this group, I rented a trailer to haul my kubota to a friends house to help him out with a few things. Last night while driving home, I get pulled over and ticketed for now having running lights on the trailer itself. While picking up the trailer I pointed out that the marker lights were broken and unplugged. He assured me that the lights worked at rear of the trailer and even had me test the brake lights and blinkers. The staff is nice enough but their equipment seems to be substandard and doesn't seem to be very well maintained. I'm 4 for 4 with this company. THERE WILL NOT BE A 5th. read more

Rented a tool for the weekend, happens that it was over a holiday and they would be closed an additional day and to bring it in first thing on Tuesday. So they tried to charge me for the extra day they were closed and could not return it We said no, so they charged us extra for going over the 8 hours you are allowed to use the equipment per day on top of the original deal. Rented a riding mower from Albany Rental a few times last summer and received great service. Excellent products, prices and, service. What compelled me to write my first review, is my experience buying a chainsaw (Husqvarna 445) from them today. I could have gotten it a few bucks cheaper at Coastal or Lowes with my military discount but am so glad I didn't. Without the military discount it was more expensive at both those other stores by the way. Albany Rental had a trained technician take it out of the box, fill it up, fire it up, make sure it was set up correctly, give me a few tips, ask if I had any questions, and set up the warranty for me for nothing extra. Couldn't be happier and will definitely come back here first whenever I need anything else. read more

We rented a dunk tank for our school carnival. When I arrived to pick up the tank, the first one hooked up to my hitch had no electrical system for lights. The lot man was very grumpy. I realize he was hot but customer service was at the back of everyone's mind. Ended up driving across the road to their storage and he hooked up another dunk tank. No Blinker lights. I had to sign a waver to accept that they didn't work. Delivered it to our school playground and as we set it up, it was missing the target piece. Had to drive an the way back to Albany to get that part. About 35 miles round trip. The target didn't fit so had to jerry-rig it. At the end of the day the drain spout was broken so we couldn't drain it! Had to siphon with 2 garden hoses. Took 1.5 hours! Upon return I examined everything (also left a phone message) and the clerk gave us 50% off. $65. However, the lot boy told me they have 3 dunk tanks and only 1 works! Yet they still rent out the broken tanks! Our low-income school has a carnival as a fund-raiser! read more

I rented a barrel sander and linoleum roller over the phone for a handyman to use. I was told they would not charge my debit card until we returned the items. However, the items were charged immediately and when we returned them I wanted to use my credit card instead. Very rude counter person told me it would be a 5% charge to credit my debit then recharge my credit card. Will never rent anything from them again -- poor customer service and lying about the charge services. read more
