I brought my Dyson in here a couple weeks ago because it wasn't working as well as it used to. Mike was very nice. Had a bit of issues trying to pick up due to the hours posted here are incorrect. All in all he cleaned it up nicely, and I'll be using it tomorrow. It's was pricey, but he said the motor was still good and he thought it would be worth it. Very small parking lot so it can be cramped. He is closed on Sunday and Monday, and opens at 10 not 9. read more

I took our shark vacuum cleaner in to Albert's because it would shut off mid use and lose suction. Had to wait 10 days for the repair, but it was well worth it! My vacuum works like brand new now! I love this place. I mostly go there for sewing machine repair because Marty is the BEST, and the other sewing and vac store (I won't mention names, but also on LA Avenue) sucks. The owner there doesn't want to repair your stuff, only sell you something new and no matter what you bring in it's always "not worth" fixing. Al and Marty are NEVER like that. I'm sure they have advised people who really DO need to consider something new, but they aren't pushy or obnoxious. They are both a pleasure to deal with. If only Marty could be there more often (he's needed in too many places) but I'm just grateful he hasn't retired. The same for Al. May you live to 110 and never close shop! Connie Gombert read more

Alberts is a tiny shop off L.A. Ave in Simi. If you're not careful, you'll drive right by the small parking lot. Needed a tune up on our Dyson. Considering it's a $500 vacuum we wanted to keep it running rather than buying a new one. Albert's got us a quote in less than 24 hours and finished the job in less than 2 days. Very pleased with the service and professionalism. So far the repairs seem great and we're hoping to get another couple years out of our vacuum thanks to the folks here. Happy customer! read more

Someone at our home attempted to fix the vacuum cleaner when it's effectiveness dropped, but then we smelled a burning smell and decided it might be time for a professional to have a look. I have taken my Dyson in for tune ups, but this time it was broken and I knew it was broken. Mike could have easily told me to leave it and charged me to fix it up. He didn't. He told me to leave it and he would see if he could have it taken care of under warranty. There are 0 dollars to be made for him, but that is how honest people run a business. While there I noticed a Miele canister. My wife had been thinking of getting one and so we had priced them out at $299 at the big box retailers. Mike had the same vacuum for the same price. He also included the refill bags/filters in the deal. Big box isn't doing that for you. I watched him interact with other customers while I was there and he takes the time to make sure each one has his full attention and gets the proper information. I don't know how many people take to Yelp for vacuums, but if you do and you see this...this is your place. read more

I took my Oreck Magnesium vacuum in to have it evaluated. The owner was extremely courteous. He told me that he would call me once he figured out what the issue was. He called me the following day and explained the issues and the cost to replace what was needed. I highly recommended bringing your vacuum here. Went to see about buying a vacuum, brought my wife's Shark vacuum that stopped suction just to show him what I had. After talking to Mike for about 30 minute about different options available it was decided that the Shark was actually the best fit for us. I have been using Albert's for 7 years. They are extremely reasonably priced (really too cheap for repairs and services). The service is great, always on time and what I would consider 100%. My equipment works like new, if not better every time I pick it up. He has been servicing my vacuums and I've had my old Singer industrial sewing machine there a couple times for a tune up. I bought two new vacuums yesterday, both were cheaper than I was quoted at Kingdom, and both were carefully selected for my needs and price range by Mike. It's been a while since I was in the store (the old one on the corner in this small strip mall) and I knew where it had moved because I am always looking around as the passenger in our car. My husband did not know the store had moved, but it was really easy to find in the same strip mall (much smaller space) right next to Der Wienerschnitzel. Unfortunately, many folks do not know he is very close to his old space! He is exceptionally helpful and if you need vacuum bags, don't count on finding them at Target or Wal Mart. I've been dealing with Albert's Vacuum and Sewing for over 20 years. They are knowledgeable, courteous, and willing to listen to your issue to help you make the correct decision whether buying parts or a new equipment. I have never had to return because a repair was not done correctly or because a part I purchased did not fit my equipment. While prices may be higher than on the Internet, you cannot get the service or knowledge that the people at Albert's offer. THIS IS FOR THE SEWING MACHINE REPAIR PART OF THE STORE ONLY. The reason I am even giving this repair shop 1 star is because the main man who works there (I'm not sure if its the owner or not) is extremely friendly, kind, and courteous. He only works on vacuums though and not sewing machines. I took my serger there because it was not working properly. The very first thing that the sewing machine repair man said to me was that he hates working on these machines. Great. He then started looking at the machine without even asking me what was wrong with it, so I proceded to tell him what was wrong. I then told him that I think the timing was off on the loopers and I attempted to adjust the timing on one of them. He asked how I knew how to do that and then literally told me, "Didn't you know that you had no idea what you were doing??" in the most condescending tone. He went on to say that I should have known that I didn't know anything about it and should have brought it to the professionals. He was super super rude about it. I'm not sure if it is because I am a woman or on the younger side or if he is just super condescending to everyone he meets. I told him that if it was a problem, I could take the machine somewhere else. He then said, "No, no, I'll take a look at it." Um, ok. He then lectured me about how I shouldn't have bought the machine online (um, how do you know where I bought this machine?!?) and that I should buy everything from sewing stores so that I can get lessons. Are you serious? I have literally been sewing for 27 years so I don't think I need lessons. Or a lecture. He then told me he would take a look at it and call me before he did anything. The next thing I heard from him was a voicemail saying that he fixed it and it would cost me over one hundred dollars. So much for him checking with me before he fixed it. I was contemplating buying a new machine if the repairs were expensive but he made the decision for me. So in short, I would not recommend this sewing machine repair shop to anyone, ever. If I ever have any problems with any of my machines, I will definitely drive the extra distance to take them somewhere else. read more

Love this place. Mike and the lady that works with him are sooooo nice. He knows absolutely everything about vacuums. I never took my vacuum in for anything and it was long overdue! He made a sound when he first saw it like woe and than brought it back to life. I also found my dream vacuum there. A eureka and bought one. Just an old fashioned great business. No frills no fuss. I hope he is there forever! Update...So happy I went there. So tried out my newly fixed vacuum (new beater brush and belt) I really just couldn't believe how well it worked. My dingy white rug is now white again. I know... I though how can this be? Maybe because I hadn't had any service on it in 10 years. The beater bar was worn to the nub and the belt was so stretched out. Mike explained how to use the height adjustment so the vacuum get the most air flow to get the dust and dirt out. So glad I went into his shop or I would never have realized any of this. The vacuum is a Windtunnel made by Hoover. Truly amazing transformation. Who knew????? read more

After internet searching for a very small internal part for an old sewing machine, I found the C-Clip snap ring I needed at Sears parts online for $3.99 plus $6.99 shipping. I was about to just order it but gave the local small shops a call to see if I could catch a break. One was out of business, one does repairs but doesn't stock internal repair parts. I called my last close by spot, Albert's. Talked to Marty, he knew exactly what part I was talking about and said to come on by, he would find one for me. I showed up with my parts diagrams and printed out photos, having my doubts. Well, shame on me! Marty walked out from the back room, before I even said hi, he handed me the little c-clip snap ring, Marty didn't need to look at anything I brought. This guy knows what he's doing. A very rare thing in the "throw it out, by a new one" days we live in. I asked what I owed him and he said nothing! Can you ask for better service? I don't think so! Thank you again! read more
