The only reason this isn't a one star review is because the people who work at the check out / self check are really personable. They're always nice and have a positive attitude. The people behind the counters are a different story. The sushi chef is super nice. Always happy to help and really polite. But it ends there. Don't get me started on the guy behind the counter at the deli / prepped food station. Seems like he's one of the main guys that works there. Not sure if he is the supervisor of that section or not, but boy does he seem to hate his job. Not only that, but he's borderline disrespectful. I've dealt with him a half a dozen times, and he is always short, has a lame attitude, seems miserable.... I've asked him a question before and he somewhat ignored my question, giving me a half ass answer that didn't address my question, then turned his back on me. The younger kid at the butcher section is just clueless. On multiple questions I've asked him about something they had, and he just says he doesn't know and stares at me blankly. Okay, well can you tell me who does know? Because it appears you're the guy I'm supposed to ask. There was a lady at the butcher counter one time, I asked her if they had more of a specific chicken because there was only one piece in the display.. she said, yeah, but I'd have to cut it.. then stared at me as if she was hoping I'd say nevermind. It's the middle of the day... I'm not asking you to cut up more at closing, and regardless, is that not your job? It just seems as though most of the workers behind the counters hate being there and seem put out if you ask for help. If you don't like your job, go get a new one. But if you are there for a job, do it.. and be pleasant about it. Again, it's odd because all of the checkout workers I've come across (and I go there several times a week) are so pleasant. Maybe it's that the managers aren't paying attention to the people the specific department workers or there are different managers assessing those personalities when they hire... but either way, they need to get some better quality people back there. I dunno what to say here. Albertsons is Albertsons. Most are all exactly the same. 1) huge 2) cashier's who pretend to like you until you ask them a question that's AWAY from their register and they say "oh, I dunno. I'm on my break" That happens to me A LOT. Proving that their 7 attributes are all fake af. 3) NONE OF THE STORES HAVE SELF-CHECKOUTS!!!!! WHY?!?!? They used to have them and then I was told "we got rid of them so we could be face to face with customers" That'd be wonderful if they ACTUALLY wanted to be genuinely nice to the customers, rather than the fake ass shit they force themselves to do lol. Albertsons is good for and only for...when they have sales. Otherwise, you will pay $2 more than most stores. Back home in NY, we have Wegmans. I love Wegmans. Wegmans was born in Canandaigua, NY the way Albertsons was born here. They have a HUGE monopoly over every other store currently where they are or if a store wants to come into the area(s). My point is, I thought Wegmans was expensive and DEAR GOD...they are! More now than ever. Albertsons is the same or much worse. This particular store is super nice tho. Big, spacious, expensive, nicely laid out, etc. ALBERTSONS--- BRING. BACK. THE. SELF. CHECKOUTS!! Literally the only store that doesn't have them and it's absolutely ridiculous. I'd rather deal with a friendly computer voice vs a human who us forced to be friendly. I defended Albertsons for a long time, but now, I only go in there when I'm in a hurry OR....they have good sales. Even their gas point program is BEYOND RIDICULOUS!!! Anothet greedy move by a greedy ass company. What can ya do tho? They ask for feedback. You give them tons of it.... ...... they do nothing. Ignoring customer requests is something Albertsons is excellent at vs their forced friendliness which looks painful for some of the cashiers/and other employees. I could seriously go on and on about this company, but I'll wrap this up. Albertsons by my house, State and Gary Ln...there are two older ladies who are cashiers and I f***in LOVE them! They're genuine in their interactions. That's about it tho. They, at most locations, when you ask, they immediately take this defensive approach; it's very odd and makes any experience there even worse. I'll stop. I gave 3 stars because this particular store is super clean, very nice (after renos), it's big and my cashier was a younger guy, who didn't put on this fake ass "I'M SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU" act hahaha! This location of Albertsons is incredibly convenient for me. And, while not as splendid as the site of the original Albertsons on 16th & State--this location does offer all the basics and more. List of awesome: + Pretty extensive (for a grocery store!) wine selection + Growler filling station + Quick and easy check out and rarely any lengthy lines + Decent deli +fresh hot french bread List of less than awesome: +Their sushi is not at all something I would ever want to try again +The bakery is pretty small with a limited selection (though what they have is pretty tasty) +The frozen food selection is 1 1/2 aisles and always feels a bit limited However, like I said--it's convenient and always there when I need to pick up a gallon of milk or loaf of bread in a hurry, so overall? Initially it would seem that there isn't a whole lot to say about a grocery store. You're in and out. They have food? Perfect! But this Albertsons is OUTSTANDING! They have everything and then some. Huge wine selection, full deli section with fresh sushi, a beer counter, and that's just the beginning. It's a bit out of my way to come to this location but it's well worth the effort. read more

The employees here are very friendly and helpful. The store is very clean. The produce and the meats are high quality. But Albertsons is kind of expensive. They do have a lot of things on sale at any given time, and their house brands are reasonable, especially the O Organics brand. I have been shopping at this location for 12 years, but I only come here because it is so close to my house, I do my big shopping elsewhere once or twice a month. There is also a growler fill station with a great selection. So to me it is like a giant convenience store with better sandwiches and snacks. If my favorite stores were within walking or biking distance this place would be history! read more

Never been a big fan of this location and typically go to the north end store despite this one being a bit closer. All four times I have gone to the Albertsons on 36th, it has been a frustrating experience trying to find items, or finding an accessible representative to help. Went this evening for cat litter, because what could go wrong, and just about everything went wrong. There was an employee in front of us in line waiting to buy her groceries after her shift chatting with the cashier about all the internal processes of Albertsons. Fine, but we don't care and don't need to know about the safe's the store has (also, security much?). There's quite a line building so the cashier moves to another register and the (inappropriately titled) Service Manager took over the register to cash out the employee. The first cashier invites those in line to come over to the new register, but physically sticks his arm out and blocks us from moving to that line, even though we would have been next up. Service manager says nothing, continues chatting with employee while cashing her out. It's apparently an extensive and difficult process and the off-duty employee had to come around the register to show the service manager how to perform the transaction. Still, no one says anything until they finally pick up on our frustration. Incredibly insincere apology followed by the service manager actually making a face at us. To top it off, she failed to give us our change when we left. Albertsons on 36th has solidified themselves as the worst location in Boise for me. read more

I have never had a positive experience filling a prescription at this Albertson's/Sav-On. Yesterday, my doctor called in an RX at 9am. At 11:30, when I got to Albertson's, they said they could find the order....and then "Oh - it just popped up".... this is exactly what I was told for an RX last week! Anyway, I was coughing like crazy and obviously in distress. After an hour of sitting there, I was still given no update. There were 6 other people also waiting for their prescriptions. No one was very happy with the situation. I finally requested the manager, telling her "I'm VERY sick and need my inhaler!! I've been waiting for more than an hour.." She was very nice and checked into it. She returned after 15 minutes, apologizing again for the wait, and assuring me the order had been completed. I finally left the pharmacy with my inhaler at 1pm. A VERY common inhaler called in at 9am, and not in my hands until 1pm. I will NEVER use this pharmacy again. I've given them several tries, but each time, the experience is worse than the one before. read more
