Most stores with the exception of Walmart don't carry sweet potato pie because it's a little more niche than the traditional pumpkin pie. Backstory: I forgot to take my piecrust out of the freezer for the sweet potato pie I was planning to make from scratch. So I had no choice but to buy one from the store and thank goodness Albertsons, as always, had what I needed! This location is definitely top three local grocery stores in my opinion. I was surprised by the low yelp rating, but now I see why. Biked here on Saturday with the bf. He waited outside with our bikes and I went in to get a few things to make for dinner that night. I walked in with the cart and saw 2 points of entry: self check out and where people exit from the check out stand, so I said aloud to a blonde lady monitoring the self checkout where to enter the store. She looks at me. No response. Word? I found a narrow entry to the left of the self check out, said some expletives to myself directed to toward her and went into the store. Thanks for nothing. Selection-wise, the store is good on that. When I was at the check out stand my cashier, Rochelle, said nothing as I told her, "Don't worry, I won't be needing a bag. Just put them in my cart." No hi, no how's it going, nothing. Then she tells the young lady bagging groceries to just put it in the cart. Only thing Rochelle said after I paid was thank you as she handed my receipt back. The young lady who put the stuff in my cart was the only respectable one in the store, and she told me to have a nice day. Everyone else here can shove it. There was a Latina nurse tabling outside the store for donations. As I was giving the items for bf to put into his backpack an African-American gentleman came walking up from the parking area to give the nurse a donation. Bf told me the entire time I was in the store that dude was the only one who gave a donation. Didn't like the vibe here. Should be 0 stars. Extreme displeasure with my recent experience with a cashier clerk by the name of Colleen (as shown on the receipt). As she was scanning my items she stated, "Oh Wagyu" referring to one of the items I was purchasing. Overall, not an issue. As she was scanning the rest of my items, she asked me, Do you need some ice," and gestured toward the ice display near the exit. I found that odd, but, told her I did not need any ice. She proclaimed, "I ask all my customers that." As a side note, I have been shopping at this Albertson's for 9 years. I am not certain how long she has worked there, but I have purchased items in her checkout lane more than dozens of times. Never once has she asked me if I needed ice. Then she proceeded to tell me, "I asked that to one of my recent Hispanic customers and he started sweating." She also mentioned that the bagging clerk noticed it and that she felt "bad" once she realized the customer may have thought she meant ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). I found her comments absolutely appalling, as it seems she was implying that I was in the US illegally. I let her know that I was 4th generation born in the United Stated (which I am). I understand that she is likely ignorant and racist, but she should keep that to herself when she is ringing up my items at Albertsons. I just need to pay and be out. She represents Albertsons and would not doubt if she has made similar comments to other Hispanic customers. Someone like this represents the company in a negative light and makes it appear the company is racist. This should not be relevant to a cashier clerk at Albertson's but I have lived in Huntington Beach for 23 years, and a former law enforcement officer (US citizen required). I've regularly visited this Albertson's location for years, both when living in the area and now when visiting friends and family and I'm surprised to see their relatively low Yelp rating. My experience has consistently been positive, especially with the staff. They're always welcoming and take the time to answer questions and chat, which creates such a nice sense of community. A recent remodel has made the store a bit confusing because they changed the layout but the staff is always happy to help me find what I need, which is greatly appreciated! The pharmacy staff is friendly and helpful, though they're not always the most efficient. If you're in a rush, it's worth calling ahead to check on wait times. Note that the pharmacy closes for a 30-minute lunch break between 12pm and 1pm Monday thru Friday, and 1pm and 2pm on Saturday and Sunday. I always seem to get there during the wrong 30 minute window which is frustrating. Overall, I really enjoy shopping here thanks to the welcoming atmosphere and the effort the staff puts into making customers feel valued. With a little improvement in efficiency and layout clarity, this store could easily earn 5 stars! read more

A good reason to shop at Albertsons off of Main in Huntington Beach. So I was looking for a specific item and it had been in Albertsons before. The manager Tammy very unhelpful to an extent. She did print a partial receipt and was very happy to tell me what she WAS NOT GOING TO DO FOR ME, with a smile. She kept on persisting that it was a system error and I should keep keep trying. It ended up being that the company that sold the gift cards misprint many cards and there were many even missing a pin # (which mine was). Gonna give it a 2 stars because it's an OK market, well stocked with lots of stuff. Customer service is OK. No one is friendly or helpful but it's a big market, it's 2023, and I don't think anyone working at large grocery store is happy to be there & it shows. Honestly the white male cashiers make me feel particularly uncomfortable. I get hostile vibes off of them. They seem angry all the time. The women are better. I went in at night to pick up a few items for the next morning. One door had a sign saying 'this door is closed'. Went over to the other door & it wouldn't open. I saw people inside. The lights were on. I checked online that they were open & confirmed they're open until 11pm & I had a couple more hours. I ended up walking in the exit door & passing through the self-checkout to get to the store. I think this was their low-key attempt to keep people out of the store in the 2 hours before close. I often do major shopping late evenings so this was not great. All of the Amish butter had visible mold through the wax paper wrapper. I've tried it before & thought I'd give it a try. It was expensive at $12.99 but it was huge. We checked all the butters they had & they all had what appeared to be patches of black colored mold. I mentioned it to the male cashier and he didn't seem to care at all. He couldn't even pretend to care or even say he'd look into it. I would have never know whether he really checked or not. Overall most of my trips the cashiers are not particularly friendly. The white male cashiers give off major hostile vibes. Well stocked store but unpleasant. I try to get as much as I can at other stores but this store has some items I can't find elsewhere. I'll stock up in one trip to avoid multiple trips. Maybe daytime shopping is better. read more

This Albertsons store is always fully stocked, and has the most friendly employees! Roger and Patty in the Service Deli are always helpful and give great service! Micah, Lisa, Jennifer, Denise always get me in and out of checkout quickly and with smiles on their faces. The store is well lit, organized and very clean which I appreciate tremendously. To be clear, this review is for this location in Seacliff Village shopping center and not the other one by Beach Blvd. Online, they seem to share the same exact address. I suppose this is long overdue and no need to hold back anymore. My first experience with Deli was pleasant. Older lady fried up some fresh chicken upon request about a month back. No issues so that experience made me a returning customer. Haven't seen her since and service now is no longer admirable. If anything, it's downright rude and deceptive. Asked a young white man if he can fry me up some drumsticks and he was reluctant to cooperate. Says he's busy and it'll take about 30 minutes after he's done with whatever he's preoccupied with. I said no problem and I'll wait or come back when ready. He seemed bothered as if I'm wasting his time but did in fact cooperate and gave me a fresh bag of fried chicken as I returned 30 minutes later for pick up. Tells me I need to call in placing order ahead of time or else he can't do this for me anymore. Got it. As I ate my 10-piece legs order which he fried fresh, I uncovered he intentionally snuck in a stale one from the older batch in the display window. Guess he wasn't too happy that I "wasted his time" and decided to retaliate in a petty way. So I got 9 pieces fresh, and he used a cold stale one as the 10th piece. Should've called him out on that but decided to let it slide. Guess letting it slide was a mistake because he and another taller male pulled a deceptive move on me in the following days. Called as he requested for fresh chicken upon ordering and was informed to pick up in 30 minutes. Got there a bit early to inspect if they actually did it as promised. Taller white male tells me the ones in the display cabinet JUST CAME OUT. I knew he was lying just by taking a quick look. He tried to tell me that those are indeed fresh and there's no need to fry up my order. Soooo as I suspected all along, they never bothered to drop anything in the fryer upon ordering as they claimed. I didn't argue and got the ones already in display and sure enough, they were leftovers. This new taller white guy lied dead in my face and passed off those stale ones on display as my made to order batch. Again, I should've called them out on this deception but turned the other cheek once more. Unreal. They tell you what you want to hear over the phone that's it's made fresh upon ordering just to pass off the ones on display. Despicable and no words. Decided to give them one last chance and called once more to place order. This time, I got the same young white dude who told me to call ahead to place order if I wanted them fried fresh. Greeted him warmly and informed him my usual. He didn't sound very enthusiastic upon hearing my voice but "agreed." I suspected they would try to scam me again and sure enough, YUP! My 10 piece legs were in fact only 8 pieces instead and once again, it came from the display a la carte rack. How did I know? Well, I opened the bag to inspect contents of course lol. All stale chicken and the same deceptive move the taller white guy pulled on me from days earlier. Tells me to call ahead for made to order fresh chicken just to substitute it with the ones already sitting there. Outrageous. You guys think I'm stupid? I naturally left the bag on the counter and walked away. Guess he wasn't too happy about that and decided to chew me out today October 12th 2024 when I visited. And trust me, he wasn't pleased to see me at all. I inspected the provided leftovers to see if there's anything worth ordering in the a la carte window display. He never said hi, hello, hey welcome back or how can I help you today. Want to take a wild guess what he said instead? First words out his mouth is, "I'M NOT FRYING ANY MORE CHICKEN TODAY SO DON'T ASK. WHAT YOU SEE HERE IS WHAT YOU GET. TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT." Continues to mumble something else as he walked away. I was tempted to clap back and say, "Not like you did last time anyways so what's new?" Guess I was too nice all along so let's get the story out for everyone to hear. I didn't bother giving him a reply and walked off as well. All this over some fried chicken at your local deli is pure comedy. Rude, hostile and deceptive but acts like I'M the problem. Really? If you guys have hot and fresh chicken to begin with, we wouldn't be asking for any to be made fresh. God knows how long some pieces be sitting in there and believe me, it's pure disgusting. Got some that's dried, stale and tasteless. If you got chicken in there that's been sitting for hours, it's not worth buying and a complete waste of money. They don't replenish unless all are almost gone so you getting fried chicken made fresh is rare and by pure luck only. Their attitude when I try to order is, "Hey, just what you see here pal." I am giving this review 5 stars based on the fact that I tried a watermelon radish from here. I have been going to grocery stores my whole life....And im old as dirt. I have never seen one of these. I was so intrigued, I reached up to find that they left one cut open so you could see what it looked like inside. I found this to be very nice, otherwise I may have not had this glorious experience of trying something new. The watermelon radish looks beautiful, perfect for your Pinterest or Instagram pictures! BUT, it is after all just a huge radish. I committed to buying it, and I ate the whole dang thing raw.... Dipped in ranch of course! I took a few bites with the green skin on, but then cut off the green part. Very cool experience, but I will never buy one again. This store has completely fell off. I'm here nearly daily as I'm an instacart shopper, and do most of my personal shopping here. Nearly everytime I shop I opt to use self checkout, as the only 2 open cashier lanes are full with long lines. Over the last month, customer service has completely degraded as the store has become way under staffed. The two most recent times I had shopped here for instacart I waited 5 minutes at a checkout lane for service (the lane light was flashing and the screen informing me help was on the way). During the most recent time, a worker stood at the self checkout attendant area mostly conversing with customers about local events, or watching me wait for help and doing nothing. FINALLY an older woman came up to help me, coming from cashier checkout, and began to serve me and proceed me through the checkout. However, in midst of this she asked me to complete the survey on the screen and give them a 10 (tapping it herself) and to fill out all the criteria for great service and experience. This is coercion. Not only did the store provide a terrible experience and nearly no help, delaying my order and wasting my time, but they cover it up with false or forced reviews, as she was blocking the area for me to end the transaction and receive my receipt. Not to mention that the whole time I was in self checkout several flies were swarming throughout the area, absolutely disgusting. I wish I could say that I won't shop at this Albertsons any longer, but as an instacart shopper, I need to accept every batch I get. What I know is that every time in the future I have to shop here, I'll make sure to be HONEST in the reviews, which is exactly what they don't want. Do better. read more

This has been my go-to grocery store for as long as I can remember. The staff are always so kind and do their jobs so well. Nice atmosphere, great products, everything is normally well stocked, and the specialty sections such as the bakery and deli always have yummy things ready to pick up. There are a lot of things that are very pricey and could be purchased somewhere else for a lot cheaper. That's frustrating, but I understand everything is so expensive nowadays. There are also quite a few items my family wishes were carried that can only be found at other stores which is disappointing but I also acknowledge Albertsons can't carry everything. I can admit the recent remodel was a bit of an adjustment, but I do think now that I have got the hang of where everything is I think it looks great. I will say I find the street names on the aisle strange. Seems unnecessary and confusing. I wish the aisles had names such as "cleaning products" or "pet products", etc rather than having street names like "Delaware street". Overall great store. Keep up the good work! read more

Ripoff or Incompetence? I shop at this Alberton's once or twice a week. Earlier this year, I noticed a package of country style pork ribs in my cart was mis-marked as sirloin beef. I took the package back to the meat case and noticed that all of the pork ribs were marked as beef (considerably more expensive per pound than pork). I told the manager and me said he'd take care of it. The same thing happened last month and it happened again today! Pork priced as beef! If I caught it three times, how often is this actually occurring? And their "error" benefits Albertsons as the price per pound is about $3-5 a pound higher than what you're actually buying (I've never seen beef mis-marked as less expensive pork). Considering the pattern, is this incompetence or worse, intentional? read more

This review is only for Starbucks. I love this Albertson's, so 5 stars for them, but unfortunately Starbucks is inside and doesn't have their own Yelp. The annoying thing about Starbucks located inside grocery stores, is that you can't do a mobile order. I've been using this feature since 2015 and it is extremely painful when I am forced to order face-to-face. The employees at this location are ridiculous slow, and it hurts to watch it all, being that I'm a person who always has a sense of urgency and I'm an efficiency expert. The crazy part is, when I order, while standing there with my Starbucks app ready to pay, instead of letting me pay, they proceed to start my order. CAN I PLEASE JUST PAY AND GO ABOUT MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE???? The only reason I come here before work is because I bring my coworkers breakfast, so I put them on notice it ain't happening anymore lol Starbucks has croissants for $2.95 and Albertsons has croissants twice as big for 99 cents! But anyway, I can't risk being late everyday, so looks like their gravy train is over! I would say 85% of people that are going to Starbucks at 8am, are headed to a job, so how about acting like you give a sh!t about obvious time constraints. I dunno who is doing these interviews, but maybe some of the questions should be.... are you slow as fuk??!! Can you do things in the correct order??? A horrible store. Nothing out of what some corporate person thinks is stocked. Managers used to do ordering but no longer, they just give you a shrug and say "it's out of my hands." And Albertson's here is such a rip-off - they deliberately did away with frozen Matlaw's Stuffed Clams, sold every where in America, and have shoved these monstrous stuffed clams at us in the meat counter. They cost $2.49 apiece, where Matlaw gave you 6 - 9 in a pack for around $7. The stuffing is repulsive, no taste, few if any clams, and they have put some horrible pieces of a red pepper in the clam, never before seen anywhere. It is an example that rip-off Albertson's thought they could dump a beloved product and push their own lousy one for more money. And management is so rude, they always look frustrated they may have to answer you. The only Albertson's worse is the one located on North Alicia Parkway in Mission Viejo. Ugh. No stock rotation, horrible, I am forced sometimes to go there for my mother as it is only one near her, but I would rather drive to Walmart. Do not shop here in Huntington Beach, these people don't care about shoppers only their paycheck and nothing more. Smiles are virtually non-existent except for one front end man who has been there for years and a young girl who helps up front.
