Finishing off my Christmas shopping is always at World Market. They have wonderful unique gifts for yourself and your loved. I went twice in one day. When they first opened, it was crazy with gobs of early birds. At the entrance are two large containers of freshly brewed coffee that they sell on the premises. I got me some. People were chatty and jolly shopping for Christmas. Then a long line to check out. But the line is a fun place to be. There is so much to look at at each stage of shopping here. It's wondrous. 4 PM there was hardly anybody waiting in the checkout line. I returned one item and purchased many more gifts. There is plenty of parking. read more

While visiting Disneyland, my family and I made a quick trip to REI. Afterwards, we stopped by Cost Plus World Market to pick up a few items! This location is in Huntington Beach, California. It's open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 A.M to 8:00 P.M. On Sunday, the store closes a little early at 7:00 P.M. Inside the Cost Plus World Market, it has a lot of merchandise from home furnishings, décor, specialty food, and beverages! The indoor furnishings include dining tables, living room pieces, rugs, lighting, and even wall décor! My family and I stopped by here to get a few snacks. We picked up some drinks and snacks for the theme park, such as some Sea Salt Popcorn, Kettle chips, and pecans! The team members at this location are amazing! My family and I had a chance to speak with a few at the register, and we informed them that we were from Las Vegas, just visiting. It seems like I only shop at World Market when I'm buying Christmas presents, and even then, it's very rare. It's been so long since I've been to one that I thought I was shopping here for the first time. I only realized I had been to one before because I was still in their rewards program. This really is a great place to shop when you are buying presents for people you don't know that well. I think its selection of international snacks is excellent although not the best value. You can probably find better deal if you go directly to a specific international market, but this place just provides the convenience of having them all in one place. Came here on Black Friday and found great gift ideas for the Holidays. Spent over $100 here, then went to the location in Brea and spent more money there. I prefer this location over Brea in terms of selection and just overall layout of the store. I also found staff members to be more helpful and friendly at this location, although it could've just been the timing of my visit. read more

The good: I love this store for gifts and decor! The Christmas ornaments are so cute and are $12 for 3. This is much cheaper than many other ornaments at other departments stores. I also love how many advent calendars and panettones they have for Christmas. We got to sample coffee and tea at the front of the store. They even had a panettone flavored coffee. Outside of the store, there is a really pretty water fountain area with Christmas trees. They had Halloween decor and goodies on sale. The Thanksgiving section was small but there were lots of cute items. They had a lot of candles to choose from with tasteful scents that weren't overpowering. The parking lot is large. The bad: I didn't have enough time to look at everything I wanted to look at! The interesting: The prices are very fair here considering a lot of stuff is imported. They had hazelnut Kit Kats and a lot of interesting flavors of Kit Kat that I haven't seen before (even at Japanese markets). read more

I really like World Market. I used to visit their stores all the time while I was going through a home remodel a few years ago. I had a few minutes to kill yesterday. So, i walked in after a long time. They have so much artisanal and imported items that it feels like walking through a flee market in a foreign Country or maybe more like an open air market in North Africa. They carry somewhat unique pieces that you can't really find anywhere else. This includes furniture, dining tables, rugs, all sorts of home decor. But they also have a lighting department, kitchenware, Stationary and so much more. I Love their Market section which I believe they are most popular for. It covers several isles of unique imported goods from around the world, such as coffees, teas, a large wine selection, non alcoholic beverages, cookies, candies, chocolates, pasta, sauces, spices. The list goes on and on. The interior is like a maze and they always have new items. So, it's really fun to explore. The service is friendly and prices vary from moderate to high since some of the pieces might be hand made or imported. I recommend checking out World Market. read more

Had to wait ~5min to get in through the front door because a maintenance guy with headphones in was working on it, not a big deal but didn't really set us up for success. At checkout there were thankfully two cashiers because one was telling a customer the entire story of his life up until this point. The other cashier waved me over and then frantically complained to the other cashier that she couldn't 'log him out'. Then instead of talking to me or even making eye contact with me she picked up the phone and walked away to price check something. They must be doing some great business here to just walk away from the register and lose my business forever ‍. Definitely never coming back. read more

I love the World Market! They have the most interesting items from all around the world, from sofa throws, to sodas. I come here for my dining table place mats, cups, dishes and ramen bowls. I am a huge World Market fan but I came here to rave specifically about this location. World Market has been my go-to for decor, gifts, soaps and oils and more, for as long as I can remember. I live up in Long Beach. Huntington is definitely not the closest nor the most convenient location for me. However, their superior customer service time and time again, have driven me to come here and sing their praises. While the manager up at Lakewood has been consistently short with me, canceled orders in the past (a huge living room rug that I'd waited on for weeks) without me being properly looped in and seemingly bothered when I've called to ask if they have a product in-house so that I can come and purchase it (most recently, I was told, "I'm not holding it for you. If you want it, you can come get it today."), Huntington's manager, is so friendly, super helpful, and follows through like it's the 80s! I went there a few years ago when my living room rug issue happened and they were wonderful then; I should've left this review back then. But this past week, she helped me solve another puzzle that has left me with the best refresh of our dining room and moving forward, I'm just ditching Lakewood altogether and will prioritize heading to Huntington. The employees in Huntington are also super friendly and seem genuinely eager to help - not surprising since Patty, their manager, seems to lead with this energy. I appreciate all of you so much. Thank you for always being willing to help out, and offer to make an extra phone call, return my calls when you say you will, and deliver a great experience alongside World Market's great products. If you can brave the Bella Terra parking (which isn't too bad on weekdays or non-holiday times), this is one of the better World Markets to visit. They always have the inside well organized and clean, and they tend to have more stock than the Costa Mesa location. Staff is always friendly and helpful, and even when there's a line at checkout, it moves pretty quickly. Absolutely love World Market and I pick this location whenever I can. read more

My first time at World Market and I'm pleasantly surprised at the vast selection of foreign imports they have in store! It was a bit empty due to it being New Year's Day but the selection was great, ranging from canned goods, sweets, alcohol, to home decor. I mainly purchased food, and I went with Sardines from Spain, Herring from Germany, an Australian candy bar, Italian biscuits, and this Dutch waffle snack? I don't know but it was great! It would be good if items on the clearance section are actually items on the clearance. Picked up a couple of items and when I got to the cashier it wasn't ringing correctly. The girl called it in and said it wasn't on sale. I tried to explain it was on the section and said there were more items there, she just brushed it off and said it wasn't on sale and that there's a line behind me already. I waited in line in front of me patiently when others were helped but when it got to me, she was rushing me because there's a line behind.....Poor customer service. Also, there was a couple of racks that had 30% off items and she insisted that the store don't have that kind of sale. Upon ringing up the items again she said it's not on sale, and asked so are we good now? In the end I got one item had the others taken out and left. I WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN. I purchased a pouf from this store. The tongue on the zipper was detached when I bought it as was all of the others of this same style, so I figured it wouldn't be an issue. It was however on the floor with dust that had been collected and dirty. Anyway. I still bought it. And now the zipper has separated and will not zip up. I called the store to ask if they would exchange or refund me and they said yes. I showed up the next day and they wouldn't help me at all. And told me it was my fault the zipper was broke. I have the receipt. They wouldn't return it. And the manager also hand we wait while she gossiped about me to other employees. Then came back to me and told me I should just buy a new one but they won't be returning/or exchanging the time. I called the next day. Today. To speak with the manager at the store. Hoping a different one would help me. But, no. She was telling me no matter what the receipt had said she is basing her info off of what the other manager had said and she was not helping me either and then hung up on me when I asked for both of their names. I always place my orders online and pick it up in-store. We happened to be in the center yesterday an hour or so after I placed an order. I just asked if it happened to be ready. No biggie if it wasn't. But I was told there is only one person who fulfills online orders so if they're working it will be processed quickly and if they're not it can be up to a day or two. One person?!? That's stupid. Thankfully I'm not in a rush to get my order but if I was given the correct information, it is lame. Although this store has fun, colorful stuff at times, the customer service in this store at Bella Terra is horrible! This is the third time the customer service was awful, so it isn't a fluke; what makes it worse this time and worthy of a one-star review is the manager. The manager was pulled into the checkout process and literally said "there's nothing I can do, call customer service" For a manager to say this and to hear a manager instruct her employee "if a coupon won't ring up, there's nothing we can do" is horrible customer service. Her 5 seconds of effort after quickly sizing up my husband and I was beyond unprofessional. She treated us as if we were too stupid to understand what basic customer service should look like. She also implied I was trying to use a coupon I already used as if I am trying to cheat the system is absolutely unacceptable. I wonder if some implicit bias is a factor here. On a side note, anytime you can hear a manager barking at her employees while you try to pleasantly shop is bad for business. A store is only as good as its leadership; do better. Previous incidents were me asking the checker to look up my account please, so I can earn my rewards and him saying "no, we can't do that." Full stop. Then next visit, taking the time to open the app and open my World Market In-Store code to scan and being told, "no we can't pull up your account that way, not in this store." That's now three times my rewards, points were not earned because staff is clueless or unwilling to figure it out. What the heck is going on with this store. read more

Online shopping is terrible... it's the 3rd time I have had issues. It won't take a new credit card to pay for the items I picked out to purchase. I called and asked. I was told to call customer service and the gentleman told me he didn't know the phone number of customer service. He said, " look on the web sight, it should be there, have a good day." I usually go to World Market when I am passing time waiting for whoever I am going with to be done with shopping elsewhere haha. It is a fun store with a ton of different things, sometimes gimicky and niche. I like their chocolate selections all the way in the back. So many good options. It is also a good place to find random gifts that isn't too gender specific and more of miscellaneous and could possibly appeal to all sorts of people. Customer service here has been nice. They do try their best to man the cash register when it is busy though so kudos to that. read more

Warning - read your receipt BEFORE leaving the store. I found a great serving bowl and was happy with the $16.99 price knowing full well that I had an email coupon for 15%off. The bowl rung up at $16.99, my coupon was scanned and I used contactless payment not seeing the final amount. I'd never had an issue here, so why would I ? Well, I got home to look at my receipt, I was charged $16.99 for the bowl but when the coupon scanned the bowls price was jumped up to $19.99 leaving the bowl at $16.99. I just finished renovating a master bathroom in my house. I bought rugs and towels from the Huntington Beach store. My designer also bought a few towels which I found to be defective. Even though I didn't have a receipt or tags, the towels were not used nor washed. I've always seen this place at bella terra and they always send ads home, but I never thought to go in 'cause it looked boring from the outside. However, one day my we were bored and decided to stop in. It's actually a cool market, a cross breed between whole foods, sur la table, international market, and a candy shop LOL. They have unique things from all over the world. The aisles are separated by different regions of the world which makes browsing easy. You can get hard to find items for cooking from italian to thai! They also sell lots of kitchen utensils/appliances/decor. If you're a candy/junk food addict, make sure you stop by here. Tons of baking items and the clearance aisles usually have lots of things for cheap. We ended up buying a bunch of unique candy/sweets here. It's a bit pricey, but they're imported and hard to find. B-Day discount is 15%. HATE the lack of customer service and speed of locating a item which is not on the actual store floor. The item I wanted was not in stock, so I got a raincheck. The raincheck was for the same style of the item I wanted, but not the actual item I had asked for. After I called to see if I could get the raincheck item for the raincheck price because they gave me the wrong voucher...the cashier said it would be possible. The next day, I went in and the manager said that the cashier did not have the authority to approve the discount and that there was nothing she could do. I guess the customer isn't always right. Considering it is made cheaply and I know MSRP mark ups because I work in retail...this is ridiculous. Consider my business going to Pier One from this point out. Do not buy furniture from World Market. Ordered a desk in Store October 6. I had called, I also went in 2x in a 6 week period no luck with desk being in. Finally went on a whim and Nov 15th and asked what was going on. I spoke to 5 different people and got 5 different answers. Guess what, after getting frustrated they found the desk I ordered in the back. I came the next day picked it up, brought it gone to assemble to find a huge chip in it. Called the store and the lady was actually kind of rude and said they have no control what in the box. Really? Your selling a product and you have no quality control? Horrible. She was very rude & While bagging up my moms items she was purchasing she made a comment on her nails saying " you picked that color yourself?" And proceeded to laugh. I've had the worst customer service experience online. My issues aren't with this store but there's no option for rating an online experience. I've still been unable to get in contact with the corporate office after multiple tries and always getting responded to by the same customer service department that I had all the issues with. Below is the novel I spent a lot of time writing. I really hope that someone from the corporate office gets this and contacts me. On the morning of Saturday, December 17th, I experienced the worst customer service I've ever had. I wanted to place an order for a rug and shower curtain. So I joined as a new customer to receive the 15% off. I didn't realize I wouldn't receive the discount right away. There was also supposed to be free shipping over $49 and it was saying the rug would be $32 to ship which I'm not well off enough to pay. I've had a $100 giftcard that I've been waiting to spend so spending an additional 100+ was a pretty big deal for me already. So I called customer service and spoke with a lady. I asked about the $32 cause there's no way I'd spend that on shipping. She just straight away said no, sorry nothing we can do about it. I had also asked her about the 15% off and she said it'd be 3-5 days to receive the code. I asked if she was able to honor it so I could place the order that day. She again quickly shut me down right away. So I nicely asked to speak to a supervisor to see if they could help. I'd think a supervisor would want to help a customer to place an order at their company, I'm supporting their business. She put me on hold for awhile and came back and said, oh actually we can do free shipping since it's over $49, well that was a change from being shut down the first time. So she put me on hold forever and said she was going to add the shipping to my account but it wasn't working. So she wanted me to place the order with her on the phone and then credit my card back after. I told her again that I wasn't going to place the order until I got the 15% off which was a discount of around $40. She said we can't do it. So I asked to talk to the supervisor yet again. She put me on hold for a long time. Came back on and said she tried but it wasn't possible. I told her I wanted to discuss it with the supervisor so on hold yet again and she magically is able to do it now. I would think giving the 15% off a few days early wouldn't be an issue. I was hoping to place the order while I was wd the whole process again and she was still getting an error. Then she says sorry but the giftcard has now been processed and I can't get it back without opening up a case with that particular department. She said the only option I had at that point was to pay the full amount on my card and then she could credit back my card for shipping and the 15% off and I couldn't use the giftcard towards the order. At this point I thanked her for her help but said I definitely needed to talk to the supervisor this time. She told me she didn't think one would be available that day. I reminded her that she had told me she was messaging with the supervisor. So after another hold, I finally get to speak with the supervisor and he was so rude. He wasn't happy that he had to actually speak to a customer. He told me there's nothing I can do, you have to wait 5-7 business days for the giftcard department to issue me back my giftcard amount after opening up a case. I asked how he couldn't place an order a little over $200 for a customer who'd been on the phone for an hour and 30 minutes at that point. He said, not my department as I said. You'll have to wait for the case to be resolved. He tried to end the conversation. I had to ask him how somehow would end up contacting me about the case. He then asks for my email address. If I hadn't asked, not sure who would have contacted me and how. So I explained how frustrated I was by the whole experience and asked for the corporate phone number. All he says is there isn't one. I asked about an email address and he whispers it so I had to ask him 2 more times to repeat it so I could understand what he was saying. I was told his first name was Jeremy when we first got connected so I asked for his last name and he snaps back that he can't give that info out. I luckily thought to ask what his employee number was which he was not happy about giving me.
