Joe and Steve have moved my belongings to our new home, to storage, (when my husband past suddenly), from storage to an apartment, and then to my new home. I also had Albion move my parents twice. To this day I have never witnessed anyone work harder. Joe is an expert, always on time, fast and exceptionally careful not to damage any items and extremely reasonable pricing. The last time I used Albion Moving was 12/31/2024 to move my 91 year old dad and in 36 years Joe and his quality in service have not changed a bit. I've never had a business hold a special place in my heart like Albion, I wouldn't even consider hiring anyone else. read more

Albion Express Movers & Storage company has some very unprofessional, rude and crude workers. This morning, i saw behavior that was so bad, I thought the company owner and anyone contemplating business with Albion Express should know. July 16th, mid morning at Sanchez in 29th next to Alice restaurant. There was an Albion moving truck and a car parked close too close to the trucks' orange cones, then an enraged mover, a man in his 60s -70s started screaming and cursing at the driver of the vehicle, an older woman. The peaceful neighborhood people came to the woman's defense to ask the mover to stop cursing and yelling in front of all people and children. The rude workers clearly didn't care, they are representing a business. See photos: Albion employees flipping off the neighborhood people and screaming telling them to shut up! Jo is honest about giving a quote and they have reasonable competitive prices. Hired these guys and they are fast and get the job done quickly and wear PPE. They are also careful at moving and loading the furnitures. They took apart the beds which was very helpful. They carry everything you need for the move. A great company you can trust. read more

My friend recommended Albion for my recent move. She moves quite a bit so I'm confident of her opinion of an A+ moving service. I'm glad I went with her recommendation. When I spoke to Joe, he gave me a quote for my move and was detailed about how their rates worked: load time / drive time / unload time. He even asked about estimated driving time. He gave me the best rate for my basic needs -- help moving my large furniture. My expectations were realistic as I planned to move smaller items on the days/weeks leading to our last day. When Joe & Gerry arrived we were not ready at all. We didn't have everything 100% packed in boxes and a clear, safe path for them to maneuver thru. We were moving out of an apartment complex where cars were in the way of their truck's path (from front door to parking lot). Thankfully, my neighbors were on their way out and had moved their cars for my movers. For my 2 bedroom apartment Joe estimated 2 hours for loading time. But because we were a hot mess it took them longer. It wasn't until the day Joe called to remind and confirm did I realize we were moving on a holiday but they were still able to move and help us anyway. By the time we reached 2+ hours of loading time it was nearly lunch time. We offered to buy Joe & Gerry lunch and asked if they wanted to take a break before they started unloading but they kindly declined. When Joe and Gerry arrived they were so kind and patient with us. They offered to break down our furniture and rebuild it when we got to unloading. But we refused the rebuild because in all honesty we didn't have a concrete plan of where we wanted our furniture. In the end, I ended up paying more than Joe estimated for a few valid reasons: 1. We didn't have everything packed, they had to work around our mess. Instead of 2hrs it took 2.5 hrs. Lesson learned here: have boxes nearly ready to go and all loose items out of their way. 2. It did not take 45-mins to get to the new home. It took 1-hour because of traffic. Overall, I had a very positive and delightful experience. Because it was a holiday, I gave both Joe & Gerry a generous tip. It was my bad for scheduling a holiday but they were gracious to do it. read more

I reviewed these guys on Thumbtack and would have left it at that but the response was ridiculous. 1. I didn't call your employee any name or slur. He was complaining and cussing from the moment he walked in my home, my wife even commented to me he seemed to be in a bad mood before she left. 2. Why would I call a person the n word, when they are latino no less? 3. If your employee heard a slur why would he tell you "I know he's a ni***r" instead of asking what I said? 4. Congratulations on having a black employee, that doesn't excuse what happened today. Joe offered no recourse when I wanted his prejudiced employee out of my house, just some sheepish bs apology. When the storage Manager was attempting to get them to avoid hitting the gate one of the older members of Albion started swearing at the manager. The manager was only trying to avoid damage to both truck and storage facility. I'd suggest you go elsewhere as such behavior is totally unacceptable and unprofessional. Rude, predatory practices, and poor Packers. We had a do not exceed rate with them, which after finishing our move they told us we had exceeded. They charged us for the American Express 5% credit card fee even though we used Visa (3%). They moved our belongings in two small trucks to charge us the drive time, their and back, twice. The owner is rude and unprofessional and complains the entire time. Hand painted painting weren't wrapped before they were packed and liquids were not closed before they were thrown on top of pillows. Move was done by Joe and Gerry. Joe was the lead. 1. Bad attitude right from the time Joe asked me to sign the authorization to move. No explanation of paperwork to be signed, just sign it. 2. Called me a liar a few times along the way. 3. Argued about which things he wanted to move and which ones he didn't. I tried to put a couple of costco garbage bags with leftover stuff in the truck before they closed it, he refused. SAid it's his truck not mine and he decides what goes in. And he refused to move a few things from the top floor saying they didn't wanna climb the stairs to load every little thing. 4. Told him the reason I hired him is to move ALL the stuff, that's the function of a mover. Told him I didn't like the repeated bad argumentative, confrontational attitude, there's no reason for it. He's providing a service and I'm paying for it. I asked him why he was acting like he was moving me for free or doing me a favor. I was paying exactly what he asked for, which is $96/ hr for 2 movers. 5. Furniture is not covered from start to finish. It is covered only in the truck, during the drive time. It is not covered when they load it in the truck and when they unload it from the truck. My furniture was damaged. 6. Hired this mover based on Thumbtack reviews. Leads me to believe the reviews are being 'cleaned'. Won't be hiring from Thumbtack anymore. Hired from Thumbtack 2 times and it was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE each time. If you don't know, now you know. 7. Took the time to post this so others are aware. We all look at posts to see which vendor we can work with. If you're thinking I'm looking for a PERFECT mover, that doesn't exist. I have used a different moving company in the past many times and I needed to move from Alameda County to Contra Costa County and my normal company wasn't thrilled with it. I got Albion's name from a co-worker and I gave them a call, Steve (one of the owners) took my call and assured me they had no problem with the location so I booked with them. 2 seasoned gentlemen showed at the appointed time and after the walk thru got right to work, cleared my house in 1.5 hours. We then went to my storage that was packed to the rafters with more items than I remembered and told them about, these guys took it in stride and cleared the storage in about 2 hours. Off we went to my new house where they proceeded to unload, put together 2 beds, 1 dresser with mirror and place a china hutch and entertainment center...fill the house and a storage shed. Once done with that they went to another town to unload another antique china hutch and pick up a couch and love seat and deliver back to me. These guys finished about 5:30ish, how many companies could do that?!!!!! ALBION MOVING IS THE BEST and they have now replaced my other company. I think they are the best. read more

I had a very bad experience with Albion movers and storage on September 5 when I signed up with Albion. I saw very good reviews about them on Thumbtack but now realize these may have been cooked up reviews by the business. This business deserves a ZERO star rating on Yelp. Joe, the owner responded through Thumbtack to provide a small move for us of almost new IKEA furniture (queen bed, dresser, small storage cabinet) and 4 -5 boxes from Castro Valley to Berkeley. He just provided a generic quote via Thumbtack of $ 96/hr for a 2 men to move the items. He would not send me an email with the quote showing the date and time of move, address etc -stating their e mail was down. I just decided to go with this business because of a slightly better rate they offered ($96 vs $110 for most local movers within 50 miles local move) I called him a few times to ask him to reconfirm the move as I had rejected other offers through Thumbtack. Prior to the day of the move date he called to say that if his truck would have no parking space available, he would double park on the street during the unload and I would need to pay if he got a ticket. I had removed the drawers of the dresser and a queen bed (as I had done the same when these items were moved from Irvine, CA a few months back. ( The previous mover (Route66) had shown up 8 hrs late and I did have a bad experience with them. On the day of the move Joe the owner inspected the furniture to be moved and did not have any questions regarding the removal of drawers by me from dresser or if there were any damage to furniture before this move. As soon as he took the dresser to his loading truck, he told me that I HAD broken a trim piece of the dresser drawer front while removing the drawers! He then changed the story by stating that I should not have removed the drawers beforehand. If removal of drawers was not upto his standard he could have asked me to put them back! That was the first item he took to his truck and came back to tell me causally that the trim piece between drawer was already broken at the time I had removed the drawers. When I went to his truck to inspect -he had quickly tried to glue the broken pieces together and started talking about how bad particle board material from IKEA is and I should not have taken the drawers out. He did not own up to the fact that he was negligent in loading the dresser up the truck and had broken the trim piece. I have attached a video surveillance camera footage how he took the dresser (unwrapped ) up a flight of 10 stairs from our exterior back deck. After unloading Joe first offered to glue the broken trim, constantly stating the particle board was junk and should not be glued . He finally glued it with crazy glue and put "white out" on the cracked white trim. All this time not even once he admitted that he had done the damage to the almost new dresser and that he was sorry that it happened. I just wish Joe had a friendly demeanor and a bit soft spoken. He was stiff from start to finish, just asked me to initial and sign on his contract at the beginning of move. Throughout the time it felt like he was doing the move for free . He was very annoyed when I told him to please be extra careful in padding the remaining furniture in his loading truck. At the end, my wife, daughter thanked Joe and his worker for the move as a gesture of courtesy. I paid him 4 percent extra for being on time and being efficient. He responded to my review on Thumbtack- that my wife and daughter did not have any issue with the move and he was extra paid because I did not have the change! He responded to my Thumbtack negative review about him stating that perhaps I have a problem with movers because I had a discussed with him a previous issue with the mover in Irvine who showed up 8 hours late and had demanded payment in cash before unloading. Albion movers are rude and unprofessional-they just get customers by offering a slightly competitive rate. Not sure what happened but these old men should not be in the moving business. They were slow, unfriendly, unaccommodating and expensive. The brand new sofa I've just custom ordered arrived dirty...boxes were left behind at the old location so I had to come back the next day and carry them using my own car....the other brand new cabinet got all crooked and messed up. They were so slow that I had to hire extra people to help with the move and speed things along since I was billed by the hour. In retrospect, wish I had just rented a Uhaul truck and hire a few college students to help with the move. Would have been A LOT cheaper and faster. Not sure how these other people gave them good review. It was by far the Worse move I've ever experienced in the past 20 years. read more

How often does anyone ever BRAG about how good their movers were!? I mean, normally it's a difficult experience at best, an exceedingly stressful time... and generally filled with so much upheaval, loose ends and countless details. The concept itself explains the least grounding exercise you've ever been through. You are literally in the process of MOVING your existence. Even if its 1 continent.. or 1 mile away. Now imagine an experience where the folks executing this ridiculous exercise ARE grounded, are unbelievably skilled in what they do, exude an incredible confidence in moving your Mount Rushmore -- rock by rock, as it is!... and do it all with no bull----, no whining... and an Old World work ethic you almost never find anymore! THOSE folks are Steven Ridgway and Albion Moving and Storage! Steven and Albion moved my ridiculousness 2 weeks ago... and I truly have not stopped talking about what an amazing job they did. So much so, that people I have spoken to have already hired them for their move!! I'm in my 50s, with 5 decades of "stuff" (as the famous George Carlin routine goes!) with 2 teenage boys, 2 dogs and a girlfriend (in a separate location) that Albion moved into another (bigger) home in the same city. I take a lot of pride in my designer furnishings and did my best researching and choosing the right company for the job. I knew 10 minutes after meeting Steven at our initial move assessment, that he was the guy. I come from the Midwest (Chicago) and over the years I've further developed the darn good BS Meter I was born with. I truly felt nothing but Green Lights from Steven from the very start -- and it stayed that way the entire process! I had a complicated Close of Escrow... and Steven stayed right with me through all the stops and starts. And when it was finally time to go -- Steven and Albion Moving were right there, right with me... right on time. And they moved my existence with incredible skill, expediency and (like I said) confidently. Once the process started, there was no negotiating, no complaining, no hand wringing... just men getting the job... DONE!! I can't put it any simpler. Moving sucks. The entire process sucks. Steven and the Albion guys were my Shining Beacon in the heat of that battle. And I am unconditionally appreciative for that. Stop looking for the right guys for your next move. They're right HERE! This business moved my hubby and I a few years ago and we are hiring them again for our move in a few weeks. They were very friendly and moved everything with care and concern. They are also very honest- I asked if they could sell me boxes and they said they sell them for $1.75 but I could go to Home Depot and buy the same ones for $1. I certainly appreciated that tip! They are reasonably priced, so I will tip generously to make up the difference as their service is worth it! read more

Generally a lukewarm experience. It was pleasant talking to the Australian owner. On the day of they were early. The owner and his assistant were our movers of the day. They were quite efficient when they were working but they took breaks in between which ate into the time we are paying. The assistant was complaining about some of our boxes not packaged securely enough. At the end, they padded on at least a half hour charge to the invoice. Felt a bit scammed since they have given us an initial good rate. It turns out it was higher than expected. read more

What a great job Steve and Joe did. We moved a fairly long distance from Pleasanton to El Dorado Hills (about 120 miles), so they loaded our stuff on their truck on a Saturday morning and delivered it the next morning. This was a great way to do the move as they were done nice and early on the second day. They were prompt and did the job fast yet carefully and at a very good rate. If you are looking for a moving company in the SF Bay Area, you need to contact Albion. I have used their services three times now and will most definitely use them again, should I have another move in my future. They initially moved my belongings to a tri-level home in the Oakland Hills in November 2015. I had to reschedule the date 5 times and they were very accommodating. After I moved in, I purchased new appliances for my kitchen. The store that delivered them, refused to move the refrigerator to the 2nd floor of my home, claiming my stairway was too narrow. Albion came thru for me again and made a special trip to my house to move the refrigerator. I contacted Albion again in Oct 2017 to move me to my current home. They were accommodating again....they transported a washer and dryer to the home I was vacating and even hooked them up for the new owner. After moving all of my furniture into my house, they took the time to also hook up my own washer and dryer before they left. Albion Co-owners Steve and Joe are true professionals. I have a lot of fragile traditiinal furniture and they moved them without a scratch. They also had one of their staff, Jerry, assist them in all 3 moves. They were fantastic. Moving is always stressful but Albion will assist in reducing that stress. Definitely give them a call. You will not be disappointed. read more

I appreciated that they were willing to give me a flat rate (although they do have per hour reasonable rates as well). Two guys showed up on time, worked around my obnoxious kids until grandma came to take them away, moved things that weren't totally packed, and were very conscientious about not banging up my belongings or the walls. I would use them again (although hopefully I won't be moving again for a looonnnnggg time!). My sister had recommended them to me and I'm glad we both had great experiences. I did not use their service. One of my neighbors were moving and this company was loading up their things. Their truck was parked right in front of my drive way. I honked at them and requested them politely to move their truck a little backwards so I could park. Two grumpy old men came out and started shouting at my husband and I. One started showing middle finger and kept saying "see now you know where you stand" and "come get a kiss". Another made an angry face and mumbled something and moved the truck a little behind. All this ill-mannered behavior and impolite reaction was just politely asking them to move. Anybody with a little understanding of courtesy and manners will pay heed to a valid request. I called the number to complain to some manager etc but no one responded and the voicemail greeting sounded like the same grumpy guy's voice. Please please do not support and hire such people. I don't know about their work, this review is for their bad and very rude behavior. read more

Hands down the best movers we have ever had (and we move a lot... 4 times in the last 2 years)They were on time, they are fully equipped to move all kinds of things. They have blankets and wardrobe boxes to use. They also come equipped with every kind of tools to disassemble and reassemble. They kept all the hardware and pieces together and use tie straps to keep everything secure in the truck. Very professional! We moved from San Ramon to Redwood City and had the best experience with Albion movers! They were very efficient and worked great as a team! In the last 2 years I've moved 3 times. This time I called 8 or 9 moving companies to obtain a quote for a move, and they were all way overpriced. Finally I called Albion moving and got a great price over the phone. I lived in a 2 bedroom apartment on the third floor (stair access only) and was nervous about the move. I even called in the night before the move to address more concerns after-hours and the gentleman Joe was very reassuring and said "we've been doing this 30 years" haha. The next morning Joe and Gerry arrived on time and got a tour of what we were working with. I must have had like 30 boxes and a lot of heavy furniture. These guys got everything in the truck so fast and SAFELY. We then drove to my storage unit where they creatively and again carefully, placed the furniture.I was calculating the time and cost in my head Bc I was nervous about that too. Not surprisingly everything was fantastic and the time calculation was honest to the minute! I've had movers in the past spend like an hour and a half just wrapping furniture.... when he said "we've been doing this 30 years" I have to say IT SHOWS. Steve and his crew moved me 4 miles from Danville to San Ramon a year ago. I had a ton of stuff and there were two flights of stairs and very heavy furniture. They did an amazing job, were very fast and courteous. Unfortunately during the course of the move several laminate stairs got nicked. I pointed it out to Steve the owner and he took full responsibility. Believe it or not Steve and I worked on getting those stairs fixed for almost one year. The landlord finally settled and Steve came through with. I can't say enough about this hardworking outfit. They arrived on time estimate was spot on and they left my place clean. We used Albion for a short local move. We liked the fact that there were only two movers, both experienced.This made it easy to make sure only the right items were packed as many items needed to be left behind. Their work discipline was incredible. Even though they charged by the hour, they took no breaks and worked straight from 9 am to 3pm. No complaints from them when my wife asked to rearrange some heavy furniture and remove a stacked washer dryer from our new place. An incredible value and no hidden surprise charges. If I ever move again I won't stop at the beginning of the alphabet. This was one of the most stressful moves ever. I was more than disappointed with this moving company. They damaged our coffee table and an armoir that's over a hundred yrs old I also found other items damaged the worst part is they would not take responsibility for it. My car got hit by one of their helpers as well. When I called them I was told by Collin "he did not like me" this was rude and uncalled for to say to a customer. We were very kind to them and did not deserve to be treated like this. Bottom line they need to retire as they are up there in age. We heard about these guys from a family friend and asked them move our stuff to our new place. I have done 4 moves in the last 10 years and by far this is the worst move experience that I have had by a long shot. They are very rude and unprofessional, using slur language left and right with no regards for the family or neighbors. They behaved until they had loaded part of our belongings and then they showed their true colors. Between the two brothers, Steve behaves with a little bit of decent code of conduct, but the other brother (I think he is called Joe) is a complete psycho. Stay away from them. read more
