    tore the plug right off

In summary: Do not use UPline for interstate move unless you want your items packed into a truck by people who are very bad at tetris and are more concerned with maximizing their load rather than the safety of your items. Due to negligent/inept loading of the interstate transport, my leather recliner is torn and broken and no longer reclines, my gas bbq grill has damage to the gas burners and manifold to the point that it is unsafe to operate due to leaks, the ¼" angle iron frame on my radial arm saw was badly bent and the tabletop attached to the frame was torn off, an antique woodworking vise was broken into three pieces, the plug on my wood shaper was torn from the wiring, the motor housing on my electric whetstone was broken and the stone itself left with a substantial chunk missing, the chain on my road bike was broken, and the glass on a vinyl clad window (brand new, left over from a remodel project) was cracked in multiple places. In addition, the internal racking of my wine refrigerator was broken in multiple places. This is not even considering the numerous dishes and glassware that were found broken once unpacked. While I accept that some fragile items, dishes and glassware, are prone to breakage, the damage to the larger items above was solely due to inept packing. After a lengthy period of time they came back to me with an offer of $630 for the damage. My recliner and bbq are no longer working so need to be replaced, which adds another $3000 to the cost of my move. I was able to get the other items fixed at a nominal cost. As part of their settlement offer they want me to 'immediately withdraw and not to file any complaint or take action on any media, internet, social media, or review site'. So in essence, they are offering $630 to buy my silence with regards to their shortcomings. My story: I recently used UPline for my move from California to Colorado. I was assured by Ethan, the rep who came out to personally view what I had to move, that my items would be properly cared for during the move. I specifically told Ethan and the movers the wine refrigerator needed to be transported horizontally, as they were attempting to upend it to move. When the truck pulled up to my new home I was able to see how my items were loaded. The wine refrigerator was standing on one end, leading to the inside racking system to become dislodged and break. My gas bbq was stuffed on its side at the very top of some boxes, leading to the burners and manifold being bent to the point of breakage at multiple points. My road bike was also stuffed on its side on top of boxes; I can only guess the chain broke as it caught on items it was stacked on. I watched as they pulled out items and saw as the antique vise, which was simply tossed on top of other items, fall from the truck and break as it hit the driveway. A box of miscellaneous dishware was crushed to the point of multiple seams of the box being broken/torn. And although wrapped in plastic wrap, the table on the radial arm saw had been ripped off the underlying support frame and the angle iron frame bent. A 6 drawer cabinet that contained small parts was also jammed in the truck on its side, and once pulled free was left standing upside down in my garage. The only thing that kept small parts from falling all over was they had wrapped the cabinet with plastic wrap, however, due to all the small parts being dumped from their drawers I had to disassemble the cabinet to recover them as the drawers were jammed by the loose parts. As they unloaded the wood shaper it was dragged out of the truck and over the power cord enough to rip the plug from the cord. Even though the window had been wrapped one of the double panes was cracked in multiple places, most likely due to being crammed into the truck as were the other items. The original damage offer did not include the recliner or window as I 'did not immediately identify them as damaged'. The recliner had been put against a wall with damage not readily visible and only after a couple days did I have time to actually sit down to relax when I noticed it no longer reclined, and then saw why. The window was not unwrapped for a couple days as it was not immediately needed. Margaret, the customer care rep, eventually included $54 for the recliner bringing the total to $630. And while I understand that I may be putting the paltry offer of $630 at risk by posting this review, as I said earlier, even with it I am still in the hole for around $3k to replace the items broken beyond repair. And left wondering how many others have simply accepted the money in lieu of posting a negative review. But as the quote goes, 'the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing'. So here I am doing something. Not to say UPline is evil. Not to say I am a 'good man'. Just offering my story so maybe someone, somewhere, sometime does not have to go through a similar experience. Or at least does so with their eyes wide open.

TL:DR - do not trust them. They are not honest, will contract your move out, and are super shady! I would not recommend hiring this company for any move. They are dishonest from the start and I would absolutely love to prevent any others from falling into the trap that we did. We had a terrible experience with them and I will happily detail the deceitful and shady practices in the review below. *Please note, I had read through the other reviews and felt that our experience was going to be different based on the interactions we had with Dale for our assessment...this was our unfortunate first mistake!* After reading a handful of reviews we ignored the red flags and complaints on BBB and decided that this company was the one for us based on our discussion with Dale who came to do the moving assessment. He was a smooth talker, assuring us, in fact promising us that the driver that would come pick up our items would be the same one who dropped it off. (Lie 1). We got a huge estimate and again, he assured us that because they do not contract their work out (Lie 2) and because they have the same crew ship from end-to-end, and because their trained crew packs with the utmost care (Lie 3), that is why we were to pay top prices. We asked Dale multiple occasions about farming out the delivery to a third party company and he said multiple times that is what set this company apart. That we will see an Upline truck and the same driver when things get delivered to the house...keep this in mind as what we got will blow your mind... Packing/moving day comes and we are the first stop for the crew (which is to be expected as we were quoted as an all day project). The foreman and his crew arrived 90 minutes late and one of them was so hungover he was puking in our toilet repeatedly. They also dropped a box and let it fall down a flight of stairs. To top it off they created a huge gash in the wall in floorboard. The guy who did the damage owned up to it (thanks I speak Spanish) but the foreman tried to say that his guy had no idea how it happened...after I had JUST HEARD his guy say it was them. So with puke in the toilet, a box that had gone down the stairs, and a gash in the wall, what else could go wrong. We got them lunch since it was an all day thing and then come to find the foreman drinking on the job! The crew was talking all sorts of shit about how lazy he was and despite a promised end time of 5p they finished 3 hours after the foreman said they would complete the job. They have our stuff for over a week with no delivery date or estimate, simply a promise to get our things to us before the 2 week period. My POC in the office is Desiree and she has no insight as to when our things will be shipped, just that it should arrive before the deadline for delivery. Part of their guarantee is that they will also give you 24 hours notice before your items arrive. We get a call Friday midday to say our things will arrived Saturday (less than 24 hours) but are relieved we at least will be getting our items. Delivery day comes, our delivery window comes and goes without so much as a word from the driver or the company. I call to follow up and we get the contact info from the driver from Desiree and work with them to get the new window of time. The morning drop off has now been moved to 1, 2, 4, 6... Mind you, we paid for half of the delivery move when they came to collect and we were to pay the rest when the truck arrives. Desiree calls at 2pm to say she will be out of the office in the next 10 minutes and that we have to pay in order for our items to be delivered. How are we supposed to feel comfortable paying a company an additional ~$7K when we don't even know if/when our things will arrive. She says it has to be done before she is out of the office or we cannot get our items. This was after numerous attempts to get a hold of her and then when she needs to bounce from the office it's time to pay, super unprofessional and shady. We pay and are assured our things will come... No joke...a UHAUL and someones personal van roll up to our house at about 6:30p and NOT A SINGLE PERSON is from the crew in California. In fact we hear one guy who rolls up in his car about 15 min later mention this is his 7th job for the day unloading. I called Upline, conveniently, no answer. I text Dale and he was like oh no this should be our crew but they were not. I asked them what company they worked for and not a single person who was unloading knew what their OWN COMPANY NAME WAS let alone who they were delivering on behalf of. The guy doing the unloading is sick and coughing all over our stuff as they unload the boxes. More random people come up to our house, mentioning they are off taskrabbit, to help unload. The drivers said that some of them were from Washington (we had our things shipped from California) and only the main guy had heard of Upline and straight up say they were contracted out by them. see "photos" for the full review

Ridiculous, insulting cost to pack a TV
    Loveys F.

I'm so insulted by the ridiculous quote Upline Moving gave me that I had to spread the word. Mind you, I have been in touch with several other moving companies--North Star, Quantum Moving, Move For Less--and haven't seen a rate nearly as insane the one Upline Moving gave me. See for yourself the itemized costs to pack mirrors and TVs (see attached screenshot). I didn't know spending 5 minutes wrapping a TV in bubble wrap and taping it, which requires no special license or college degree, mind you, cost over $100. I'm insulted that they thought I was dumb enough and that I didn't value my hard-earned money enough to accept this quote. Don't waste your time getting a bid from them, I wasted at least an hour of my time scheduling a walkthrough.

What I encountered was end-to-end excellence, from customer service to their excellent moving team. I knew our move would be a large one, so I booked a 26' truck and five-person crew. As the day of the move approached, I had lots of last-minute worries and questions and Sam, in Customer Service, answered every one and generally calmed my nerves, assuring me my move team would assist if we needed last-minute help. On the day of the move, the team arrived right on time. The foreman, Guillermo, assessed our situation and calmly confirmed my suspicious that we'd need two trucks (this my error, not OnTrack's). Before I could panic, he had contacted his team and we arranged that ours be a two day move. Guillermo's team wrapped our furniture and had the truck loaded swiftly. At the new house, we had a few of our family help direct traffic. I'd labelled every box with a color-coded room label and the team got everything to the proper room. On day two, Sammy -- part of the original crew -- acted as lead and we repeated the process. Here, a number of items still needed a bit of packing and his team had everything done in record time and -- bless them - marked the boxes for the proper room destinations without prompting. As I now unpack, I'm finding everything in excellent condition and couldn't be more grateful. We'd heard stories about moving nightmares and wanted to share a happy ending. Guillermo and Sammy were AMAZING and their crews were very hard working. Tips: my sister had a table of bottled waters, bags of chips, and other snacks ready for the team when we arrived at the new house. The team appeared grateful for the sustenance. We also tipped each person individually, in cash.

Because of this, my husband and I knew that hiring a moving company would be non-negotiable. After researching and talking to close friends who used various companies, we decided to confirm with Careful Movers. They are not the cheapest, but they by far exceeded our expectations during our move. Starting with my inquiry, Mat, our Moving Consultant, was quick to respond and very patient in answering all my questions. Securing our moving date and processing our deposit were smooth processes. Leading up to our move date, Shenna called and emailed with reminders for any last-minute tasks and collected information so our moving team knew exactly what we needed on the date. On moving day, we had a crew of 3 movers: Enrique, Ismael, and Jose/Luis. They were punctual and arrived at our apartment right on time to get started on our move. After walking them through our apartment, discussing expectations, and signing the agreement, they went to work. This team was quick, and I mean QUICK, to disassemble and pack the truck. However, this does not mean they were sloppy by any means. Everything from our baby's furniture to our 75-inch TV was packed with the utmost care. Despite the rain, all of our belongings arrived safely at our new rental and were reassembled exactly as we asked. My husband and I are extremely happy with the services provided by this team and Careful Movers. We wouldn't hesitate to schedule with them again or refer them!
