We came here with some friends and did the zombie room. We had to use all three hints in order to advance to the next room, and some of the puzzles were ridiculous, in my opinion, to solve. Apparently very few people figure this one out. There were times in the game that a lot of us felt like we lost the motivation to figure it out. Did their zombie apocalypse game a while back and just had to shout my praises after doing more rooms since. This game is by far the best escape room I have ever done! It is so fun and creative--completely unlike any other room I've ever tried before! Did the Extinction room and the only thing that should be extinct after our experience is Alcatraz. Paid $300 for our group of ten and we were crammed into two incredibly small rooms for the entire game. One of the rooms we were combined with the other half of our group so there was 10 of us in a 10X10 room crowded to the point where only half the group could participate. The worst part was that for one of the teams the machine was broken for one of their clues. So for 30 minutes they tried to accomplish a task that was impossible. We didn't even get any sort of a refund... this place is a joke! read more

My daughter and I played two different escape games and had an absolute blast. The props and themed decor were detailed which made the experience feel even more realistic. The games encourage team work and challenge the brain with several puzzling tasks. Bailey was very nice and got us all set up for the games. She was super friendly and very attentive to our questions. Connor and Colton were great role players who added fear and stress to our game; which made it so much fun. Connor is a superb actor who stayed in character ( prison bus) for the entire hour with an accent and criminal wittiness. This was not the best planned out escape room. The puzzles were pretty random and not as logical as I would have expected. We booked Extinct and were surprised when we arrived to find out that we were being put in with another group as a competition. That should have been disclosed at the time of booking. My family would have enjoyed the experience more if it had just been us. We were not expecting that we would be in close quarters with another team. And it was very close quarters! It was difficult to move around without bumping into someone. The game did begin with a cool video giving the background story. So it was disappointing at the end of the game to not have some kind of acknowledgement, video or announcement other than the host in the hallway saying, "you made it!" Nothing happened that made it obvious when there was a winner of the competition. It left us feeling like there was no closure. But the biggest disappointment was not being told we were going to be in a room with another group, especially at this time with Covid still so prevalent. I would have booked a different game in order to be able to limit the number of people I was exposing my family to. read more

Wow! First off, I want to say that my wife and I have been to 15 escape rooms at this point, most of which have been in Los Angeles. Needless to say, L.A. has some of the best escape rooms in the U.S. With that being said, my wife and I booked a time slot at Alcatraz. To get straight to the point, we were blown away! This is literally one of the best experiences that we've had so far with an escape room. The Prison Bus was unlike anything other escape room that we've ever been in. Everything from the atmosphere inside The Bus, to the quality of the actors was incredible! Apart from that, at $18 per person, this is the most affordable escape room that we've ever been to! In reading the other reviews, I'm very confused by Jeremy L's words...When we went, we found out after the fact that both managers, Addison and Raleigh (unsure of spelling) were the actors that were interacting with us during our escape experience. They were not only professional, but they were both very welcoming. They did a great job playing the role of their characters and it's obvious that what they are doing is their passion. They explained why they decided to open up Alcatraz Escape games and told us about all of the work that they'd put it to make it happen, and I was very impressed. In summary, this place is amazing. My wife and I are planing to book their Zombie room in the near future, and we are very excited! Do yourself a favor and book an escape experience at Alcatraz Escape Games. Don't Go At Night! This was my 3rd time to Alcatraz Escape Games. My first 2 experiences were great with a fantastic time and some fun memories. My previous times my friends and I had gone in the morning when there really wasn't much other business. In the morning time there had been plenty of parking but in the evening there wasn't a parking spot to be found and I barely avoided having to park along the busy frontage road. Even though it was a group of 3 of us we would get the room to ourselves and could do some great teamwork. Now, this latest experience we wanted to try it out at night time. We decided to go back to the first room that we had experienced in hopes of actually escaping the room in time. We got paired with a group of 5 others that had never done the room before. I understand that they want to experience and solve the puzzles for the first time just as we had done previously. With our goal in mind, we went through and solved all the puzzles we had remembered the answers to and rushing through so we could get back to where we had been previously. Now there were some parts we didn't remember and we tried to work with the others in our group to solve. Once we had caught up to where we hadn't experienced or hadn't solved those puzzles before it took a lot more teamwork to solve to accomplish our goals. Rather than them work with us to get it done they basically shut us out and didn't let me or my party do any more of the room because they outnumbered us. Once we escaped the room and were getting ready to leave we were all standing in the lobby and their group went up to the desk to complain about our little party about how we didn't let them have fun because we didn't let them solve the puzzles at the beginning since we had already known the answers and where everything was. The Redhead at the desk, Bailey was her name, felt like it was her responsibility to come and tell us that we had ruined their fun and their experience and that we basically should've stood around twiddling our thumbs while they tried to solve puzzles that we had already solved and knew the answers about. Why would I pay money to go stand around and basically do that? As I said I understand why they wouldn't want someone to go in there and solve everything for them. What the business should do is not even have groups/ people that have done the room go in and do it together. Also with the cameras that they have if they see people in there solving everything and a portion of the paired group not doing anything why not step in right there and offer if they would like a different room or something? I tried to voice my opinion when I went back in to get Bailey's name after the whole experience only for the other group to still be in there and for them to be very rude to me. I tried to voice my opinion on how they had shut us out for the complete 2nd half of the room and they didn't include us on anything. I was being civil when they were not. At this time Bailey felt it her place to tell me that I couldn't talk to other customers like that and that I had to leave. It's fine for her to talk to customers about how they apparently ruined someone's experience but I can't tell the other group on how they ruined my experience. Plus I was being civil while they were being very rude to me. My friends and I had plans to return to do more of their escape rooms and games but now we know to spend our money with a better business. The jist of it is basically don't ever plan on doing a room a second time or without people that haven't seen it without buying the whole room out which is a pretty ridiculous amount of money. Don't ever plan on being treated like a loyal customer. Also they bribe discounts/drawings if you write a good review of them. Isn't very good business practice. Should earn the good reviews with good customer service not by basically buying them. Employees will also get a bonus for getting metioned in a good review. Wonder what happens when an employee is metioned in a bad review. read more

Did the Prison Bus escape and it was super fun and unique. I previously had been to several escape room with lame puzzles to unlock one lock after the other. But this one has a twist with a live actor who is actually in the room with you who sticks to character very well and who had some clever and unique jabs at us. Overall super fun time, well thought out and well made. Challenged us and we had a blast. Would highly recommend this - especially if it will be your first time doing an escape room. read more

Tried out the Alcatraz Escape Bus tonight with 7 other family members. I've been to another escape room in SLC which was a totally different experience than this one because this one included an actor on the bus and the other we only had to figure out everything without only clues left in the room but I have to say I liked both for different reasons. Have to be honest I was a little worried how 8 strong personalities would do in an escape room but we worked well together figuring out some stuff on our own and getting clues from our prisoner "Jeff" for others. The bus was fun but a little crowded for 8. Jeff was a good prisoner and decent actor and gave us some good clues to help us escape. This type of escape room has to have clues from the actor or you'd never escape. We only had to wait a few minutes when we got there before we were taken to the bus. The rules were explained to us. We were handcuffed to the bus and we were off to try to figure out how to get to the keys and get out of the bus. A fun time was had by all and we all still liked each other when we were done. Lol. Can't wait to try another escape room with the fam. read more

My friend and I went to Alcatraz Escape Room tonight. Neither one of us had ever been to any escape room before, so I don't really have anything to compare? But I thought it was very well done. We went to the Chloe room. It was really hard & it was only the both of us, so I think if we had more people maybe it wouldn't of been so hard? It was scary and definitely a challenge, the staff was really nice and "Chloe" was great. It would be really fun to go on a double date or a bunch of friends. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the price. Like I said I don't have anything to compare, but felt like it was pricy! And I couldn't find any coupons, discounts or promotions of any kind. I thought maybe going on a weekday would be a little cheaper? But overall it was something fun and different and hopefully we can go again. read more

Super fun and awesome! The employees are hilarious and helpful when giving instructions. The whole environment was really inviting and easy going. We did the prison bus, which was so unique! It was in a parked bus outside, that we worked through, front to back. The employee impersonating Al Capone was phenomenal. He helped us when we're we're struggling, but he definitely made us work for it! He made our experience 10 x better because of the interaction. Loved it! read more

This is such a cool concept and had super cool props etc...but it was my husband and I and when we bought the tickets we were so excited for our first date night in a year (ya know, kids) and when we got there they told us we would be in the room together with a group of 6 people. So total 8 people in the room. I was sooo disappointed here we are in the room with a bunch of loud young adults who are all friends and basically taking over the whole thing. We didn't even get to solve any clues, just watched. It was frustrating. I was under the impression my husband and I would be in the room alone to figure it out ourselves. I get that they make more money this way, but it wasn't made very clear that we would be booked with another group when we bought the tickets. I wouldn't have gone if I knew this. Or go with a group where you know everyone so it's not random people that you don't really work well with. And it's not cheap...so yeah not too happy. read more

We had the worst experience here. We booked the Harry Potter escape room, and they added 2 people to our party, which would have been fine except it was a mother and her very young son and THE MOTHER HAD ALREADY DONE THE ROOM AND PROCEEDED TO SHOW THE SON ALL THE ANSWERS. Once we realized what was happening we asked right there in the first two minutes of being in the room to be let out and do the room later or do a different room or something because there is no point in doing an escape room when someone already had the answers, and they ignored us. So 20 minutes later when we were done with the room we then had a conversation again with the staff member and they said that if we don't book all the slots for a room that's the risk we have to take, that we'll be put in with someone who knows all the answers. So it was a huge waste of time and money and I am very upset they did this and just didn't care that our experience was ruined. Don't go there! There are better run escape rooms out there with people who actually care that you have fun. read more

Having done a few of their escape rooms and comparing it to other places, I'd give this particular place an average. They have really creative, well decorated rooms with good actors if there are any in there. Their puzzles are pretty good too, although a little bland compared to other places I've been, at least that's what I thought with the prison bus, due to the lack of a concrete story. My biggest thing against it is the amount of people they let in to solve the room. 6 people? Great. More than that? You start to get confused as others in the group pull way ahead of you, causing you to miss the puzzles that otherwise would've been fun. I went into the Harry Potter one with 10 people, and in that cramped room, I practically did nothing to help because everyone else had already solved it. Would've been worth 5 dollars for that experience. So, it's a great experience if you can get in without that many other people. The last one I did had 8, which was still too much, but I was able to contribute a lot more than with 10 people. read more

We did the Zombie hysteria and it was really awesome! Very challenging! We needed lots of hints though or we would have never gotten out of the first room. There was 9 of us and we had to split into 2 groups. We had to help them with the clues we found and they had to help us with the clues they found. Brock, our tour leader was very cheerful, happy, and helpful when needed. Nate, The zombie that was chasing us all over the room did a really amazing job! I took my 11 year old and 4 year old but I really wouldn't recommend young children to do this one as my kids were scared and ended up sitting out and they have a no refund policy. read more

First time going here and I had a blast! My group of 5 did the Death Row escape room and the inmate Cassy ( I think that's her name) was amazing! She was making witty comments to us and giving us some hints to help us! That was probably one of my favorite parts with the escape room! Definitely would be coming back soon! read more

Tonight was my first visit to Alcatraz and I was very impressed. I was given a warm welcome when my party and I walked in and the staff was helpful with answering any questions we had prior going into our room. We did "The Row" and had a great time. There was a bit of creep factor, but that may have been because of the fact we were locked in a dim room with an hour to escape. It was pretty tricky even with the help of our fellow "inmate," but we managed to escape (we literally ran out the door with only seconds to spare). The props within this puzzle were very impressive and in great shape (or in as good of shape as items are in prison). Once we had escaped, our fellow "inmate" Conner came and greeted us and posed for a photo with us. He was adamant in making sure we had fun and we all definitely did. Conner's acting as an inmate on death row greatly enhanced the experience. I, as well as the rest of the people in my party, will definitely be back to take a shot at another room! read more

I would not recommend Alcatraz Escape Games. We were hoping for a fun family event but it was nothing but a night full of feeling like an inconvenience to the workers. The employees at the desk were rude and unprofessional, the room we signed up for had multiple malfunctions, and when half of our group finished, the worker came into our room and started cleaning up while the other half of us were still in there and then proceeded to wait in the room and watched us until we completed the room. It created a very uncomfortable and unenjoyable experience. It was evident he wanted us out so he could get home. As we expected, the worker was one of the first ones out the door to leave after we finished. It was a waste of money and unfortunately ruined a holiday family event. read more

My husband took me for my birthday,we chose the Zombie one and omg it doesn't disapoint!!! 3 brothers work there, the zombie brother (I forget his name!), scared the living daylights out of me! It was so hard, time went by so fast,it was scary and fun and challenging, I recommend to anyone! It is supposedly supposed to be in groups, but me and my husband went on slower day, and oh man was it fun!!!! Best memory!!
