This is a nice Aldi. It is set back from the street, and the sign is actually on Forest Street, but that's okay. When I turned off Lee St at the Aldi sign on Forst Street, I just drove thru the cleaners lot and wha la, there was Aldi. I refuse to pay for cart rental, so as usual, I can only buy what I can carry or fit in my grocery tote. The produce department here is clean. No old or moldy fruits/vegetables anywhere and the prices are very good. Cashiers are pleasant. read more

To day 09-04-2019 at 3.45pm I went to ALDI at desplaines store . i had only money in my pocket was a dollar coin and 50c coin in a very good condition. The hispanic girl at check out refuse to accept my coins. the dollar coin and 50c coin is a legal tender and it was only for $2.54. i left the sore without purchase. what rules makes aldi not to accept coins. finally i ended up next block BUTERA and made my purchase and some how The same Purchase came out $2.19 TOTAL and they accepted my coins which is a legal tender in united states. i went to des plaines police station at around 3.55 pm and told them the whole situation. they inspected my coins i had . they said people at aldi dont know. these are the real money . Prices are the same as any other Aldi but the store manager at this store is absolutely the worst store manager I have ever encountered at any grocery store. Because of this I have started shopping at other stores and found that I can buy at the same prices without the attitude. The checkout is awful and that is where you will encounter the manager who doesn't appear to enjoy her job. I haven't shopped there in almost six months and probably have saved money and received other perks as well. read more

Haven't been to an Aldi in a long time, but I was impressed with this location. This store is a little bit inset from the street, so it's easy to miss if you don't know it's there. But there is an Aldi monument sign on Lee. Aldi has almost all your basic staples, chips/snacks, drinks/juices, produce, fruits/veggies, meats, frozen foods, bathroom toiletries, cleaning supplies, etc. It's really the same product you get at some of the big box stores. Only difference really is the packaging/label... and price! I'd say it is anywhere from 20-40% cheaper! I mean if you go to Jewel/Dominicks you can probably find 10 different brands of canned green beans, whereas Aldi will only carry one. Don't be a freak - you only just need one, really. The store itself is super neat and clean, and the workers here were nice. Not crowded at all like some of the other ones I've been to in the city. The only cons I'd say about shopping here is that you have to pay 25 cents for a basket, though the basket says ".25 deposit" but you don't get the quarter back? lol. Also, you must bring your own bag(s), and they are only cash or debit. read more

For the 3rd time I've visited Aldi i have found rotten produce. Their commercials say, " Aldi produce is delivered fresh daily" That's a false claim. No way these strawberries were delivered today. 3 times a charm, I'm heading to Butera from now on! read more

I looove Aldi! Aldi IS my store! I love that I can find most staple foods and produce here as well as seasonal goods. The one in DP is smaller than most but it's clean and organized most days. The employees are friendly and they are always so helpful. I can count on Aldi to make a difference in my budget hehe. read more

I enjoyed shopping here until I the ground beef that I bought had cartilage shards in it. I will only be buying canned goods from the store but I will not be buying any more meat products which usually is large in volume and small on price which makes it nice to buy but I do not feel safe feediny my family ground meat from Aldis. read more

Why would you go to Jewel when you can save so much more $ at Aldi? Aldi is a grocer that everyone should try at least once. This location on Lee St. is older than other stores (like the location in Mt. Prospect), but it's still very clean, offers a wide variety of products; organic, etc. (including their brand new gluten free line) and the store is always well stocked-even on the weekends. I stopped here on a Sunday afternoon to grab their Greek yogurt (the same as Chiobani) @ $.78 a cup and some really nice 15" plant stands that were on special for $6.99. Thankfully they still had plenty of these in stock, as the ad for these came out earlier in the week. That being said; their ads are always worth checking out because they have great specials on items they don't carry every day like home decor, small kitchen appliances, lawn items, toys and more. They also have a large wine/beer selection given the size of the store. During this trip they were even carrying Goose Island's '312' brew. Produce has always been great in my opinion; the shelf-life is much longer than what you might buy at Jewel. Carts are $.25 to use, but your quarter is returned to you when you put the cart back in the cart corral. Win-win; you rent a cart so that your car doesn't get dinged by one in the parking lot. Paper bags are $.06 to buy or you can buy their reusable shopping bags. I recommend bringing your own. You do pack your own groceries as well. They never have many staff people working, but the cashiers have always been very friendly. read more

I love this Aldi. The staff is always kind, helpful, and professional. They have a great new selection of baby food and items, which I love. They carry lots of organic options. Their produce is typically better than Jewel-Osco. Just remember to bring a quarter for a cart and bags unless you plan to purchase them. I love that they accept credit cards now, too! read more

Aldi is one of my favorite grocery shopping stores. It really has everything I need at fantastic prices. A $20 bill goes so much further here. I've turned many of my friends and family into Aldi shoppers. This store is always clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. Love their fresh fruits and veggies selection. Meats are also great. Their cottage cheese is the best. Last summer I bought all my cantaloupe their and it was the sweetest I'd tasted compared to some friends who got theirs elsewhere. If you've never tried Aldi give it a go. As far as complaints for the carts, I have no problem with this idea. I think it's great. No more wandering lost carts in the shopping lot denting your vehicle. And you get your quarter back when you return the cart. It's a win-win! read more
