I recently stopped by Pete's Fruit Market for the first time after hearing about it. As soon as I…read morewalked in, I saw buckets of vegetables: peppers, tomatoes, squash, you name it. Most buckets seemed to be about 6-8 inches in diameter and prices ranged from $1 to $5. I only wish they offer smaller buckets instead of such a big bucket. It is hard to buy in bulk with smaller household and I don't like to freeze produce. I was curious about the quality of the produce, but I wasn't too impressed. For example, the apricots looked a little banged up--kind of like the "misfit" produce I've seen before. There was upbeat Mexican music playing, which gave the place a fun vibe, and the store itself isn't that big. A security guard was stationed outside. They had yellow-flesh watermelon at $0.99/lb, and giant seeded watermelons for $16 each--which felt pricey, especially since I had just come from Costco where I got a decent-sized watermelon for $6 (though admittedly smaller than the ones at Pete's). I also noticed mangoes going for $2 each, which again felt steep. I had been hoping to find some Mexican pastries, but nothing really stood out, and there weren't any prepared foods available. However, I saw they got a catering menu which I thought it might be good to have a food court selling those items. I was expecting something more like La Michoacana or Fiesta stores in Texas, but this wasn't it. In the end, I just picked up a few Mexican candies like Pulparindo and called it a day. I was a bit disappointed with the fruit selection, especially the lack of tropical options. On the plus side, they have a fairly large, gated parking lot, which is convenient. I'm glad I visited, but not sure I'll be rushing back anytime soon.

I love Pete's especially during the holidays it enables you to get many vegetables and fruits to…read morefeed the family without paying high prices

This traditional European-style Christmas market features over 60 vendors, including artisan crafts, handmade gifts, and Wisconsin specialty foods. There were so many unique items to browse, from ornaments and décor to homemade treats. The food and drink options were fantastic -- local food trucks like EZ Tiki, Flip's Mini Donuts, Tots on the Street, and Milwaukee Pretzel Company, plus local beer, made it easy to snack while walking. The weather was decent, which made strolling through the market enjoyable, though it was definitely busy with lots of holiday shoppers. Live music and festive decorations added to the cheerful atmosphere. Parking was convenient with several nearby lots, and the layout made it easy to explore despite the crowds. A fun, lively holiday event -- perfect for shopping, enjoying seasonal treats, and getting into the Christmas spirit!

I asked her a simple question about traffic at that location during Brewers games. She looked at me like I was speaking a different language. Robotically scanned our order. There aren't any locations real close by for us, but we go out of our way for it. To be honest, my first time here I was a complete newbie and had no idea that A) you need to bring your own grocery bags B) you need to have a quarter with you in order to rent a shopping cart and C) the shelves are simply loaded with boxes so it limits labor hours/cost, which allows for the products to be cheaper. I totally dig what they're all about! Less wastefulness, and more self sufficiencies. This location is super duper clean, organized, and well kept/stocked (even as of late with the covid madness). The store is easy to navigate and the cashiers work quickly. Smooth sailing all around. I wouldn't necessarily look for produce here but Aldi is normally our go-to for shelve foods or frozen foods. The prices are low as can be for things like canned foods, spices, quinoa, seeds and nuts, and coffee. Oh yeah, and did I mention wine? Low priced wine! Last week we realized they're now doing cauliflower crust pizza too (yay). Safe to say my next meal is sorted. An extra THANK YOU to Aldi and their staff during this time.

The lunch menu has a huge variety of options, which made it tough to choose. I went with the BLT on sourdough, served with a pickle spear and thick-cut potato chips. It totally hit the spot. The bacon they use is fantastic. My friend ordered the Sriracha Melt (ham, pepperoni, mozzarella, jalapeños, and sriracha mayo grilled on white bread), which also came with chips and a pickle. Immediately devoured. The salads looked incredible....the table next to us ordered a couple and they looked absolutely divine. Next time for sure. The adjacent market is a must-browse too. It's packed with specialty products and rare finds that you don't see everywhere, making it easy to walk out with way more than you planned. Great food, great service, and a fun market to explore. Highly recommend stopping in if you're anywhere near West Allis.

There was a covered patio seating area that was also being utilized. After lunch, we browsed the connected store, with a nice selection of cheese and sausage, of course, and lots of great local products. Friendly service, generous portions, and delicious food - we'll be back!

Date of visit: November 24, 2025…read more I don't stop here often, but I was on this side of Burleigh, hitting some other places at Mayfair Collection and I needed just a couple of things for dinner. Walking over to Whole Foods was a lot easier than risking my life crossing the street here! The store was bright and in good condition. Like most grocery stores, any employee I encountered was not concerned with me and went about their business. The pasta sauce I found was naturally more expensive than across the street at Meijer, but I liked that it was from a family brand instead of some giant conglomerate. The self-checkout line was pretty long so I went with a cashier and she was more pleasant than your average Kroger employee, so I'll call that a win.
