While I am a dedicated Kroger shopper, ALDI is my go-to for many items now! This particular ALDI is location on Gallatin Avenue in the Eastland neighborhood of East Nashville. It is in good shape, plenty of parking and is always clean. However, like most ALDI location, be prepared for stock carts throughout the store that are actively being worked when the checkout lines slow down. My favorite parts of ALDI are always the outer aisles. The veggies/fruits, breads, cheese/meats, frozen, and of course the wine! If you want to make a killer and affordable charcuterie board, ALDI is the absolute best place to pick up all the goods, even the crackers! I usually do most of my middle aisle shopping at Kroger due to selection, but the meats, cheeses, breads and wine pretty much always come from ALDI! In addition, the variety of premade dips they have in the cold section, along with pizzas, pastas, etc...always come in clutch! I will pick up fruits/veggies on occasion, and are always happy with the prices. I more so pick up salad stuff as I do not do enough to get bulk fruits/veggies too often. Service is always decent here. The lines always seem to be backed up, but relief is never too far away. Overall, I am definitely a fan of ALDI and this location! Oh, and just an FYI - It is ALDI's policy to "lend" you a quarter for a cart if you do not happen to have one! read more

This is my favorite Aldi's, this and the one in Madison are equal distance from my house. This one is more towards Town, if you are not from here you have no idea what that means. "Towards Town" means if you follow Gallatin road eventually you hit "Town" or what is affectionately known as Downtown Nashville. It is always busy but you never have to wait long, the lines go fairly quickly. Any time I have needed any assistance they have been more than happy to help. I Though what you need to understand is it is a busy store so you're not going to be pampered and treated like royalty. You are one of hundreds or even thousands. Keep that in mind and you won't have any issues. I love the alternating inventory so every trip is a new adventure. If you come here or to any Aldi make sure to hit up the Aldi Limited Finds aisle for some great deals on cool stuff. It changes from week to week so if you see something you like, you have to get it then or it will be gone the next time you visit. If you enjoy beer and wine, this location has a large selection that is very affordable and quite impressive. Of course, be prepared to bag your own groceries and have that quarter ready for the buggy. This is universal to all Aldi's across the world and I like bagging my own things so it has never bothered me. There is always plenty of parking and it's easy to get in and out of at one of two exits that have a light. Making it easier to turn in and turn out of the parking lot. Nothing worse than having to search for a parking spot after fighting traffic just to get into it. read more

I have been shopping at this location since it opened. After years of going to Madison, we were thrilled to have one in our neighborhood. They used to hire the most friendly cashiers and that was part of the Aldi shopping experience that help set them apart from the competition. However, for far too long I've had one too many interactions with different cashiers that are just downright unfriendly to not leave a review. Not even saying "hello" & no response when I politely say "thank you mam" even after you've given me rude service. Also if I request to keep my own buggy, it shouldn't be treated like a personal affront to you. It's an effort on my part to help us both out when I have bulk items on the bottom rack. At this point, I wish they would just put some self checkouts in like other locations have so I can avoid the interaction. read more

I went to the store on 09/17/24 around 12 PM. The manager, Toya, was rude and provided false information. I was trying to purchase a few items with an e-gift card I had received from Aldi's customer service. Toya told me that they don't accept e-gift cards and that there was "no such thing," advising me to contact "whoever I got it from." When I mentioned that I had received it from Aldi's customer service, she implied I was either lying or delusional, claiming that they don't issue e-gift cards. I was extremely upset, especially since I usually shop online and use curbside pickup, but Aldi's customer service had informed me that the e-gift cards could only be used in-store. I called Aldi's customer service, and they contacted the store to inform the manager, who apparently was unaware that Aldi's accepts e-gift cards. Her attitude was unpleasant, and she spoke in a condescending tone. I will never shop at this Aldi again. Toya should not be a manager. I ended up purchasing my items with cash, but what if I hadn't had the money and was relying on the gift card she claimed I couldn't use? read more

I try to do business local to where I live, but probably WON'T return to this Aldi. I realize they place your items quickly in your cart but on Friday, 4/19/24 the cashier (an older lady) put my bananas, three mangos down in the cart and started placing things on top of them so I quickly reached for them and placed them in the "front" part of the cart then she dropped my bag of apples in the bottom and I said "you realize apples bruise right?" and she rolled her eyes at me. One - I should have asked for a manager. Two - I should have made her replace the bag of apples because two of them I've eaten both had bruises on them that had to be cut out. Also, the floors were sticky and dirty with spills. This same Aldi has punctured my meat throwing stuff on top of the packaging. It takes less than 5 seconds to place those more fragile things in a better place!! read more

Aldi has the best prices in the area, and also good quality products. There are limited options of brands/types of products, and sometimes I havr to to go to another store to find everything I need, but for the prices, you can't get much better! It is always very clean and organized when I go, which I appreciate. The people who work there are very friendly and quick when helping people, so that is great. Will continue to go to Aldi in the future if they keep this up! read more

The worst customer service from the manager today. I walk in to use the restroom and forgot to grab a cart. I asked the store clerk could I use this cart that's in the Insta cart area. The store clerk response yes. Here comes the store manager... Snatches the cart from me and told me I could not use the cart even after I explain I was already given permission by an employee to use the cart. The crazy part... I continued to shop there regardless. SMH! read more

I love this store for many things from the low prices to the eco friendly bags. Aldis makes it easy to buy affordable, but good products and leave you satisfied with your visit. Really a fan of Aldi and so glad to have one close to home. They are small but mighty and I can get most of my weekly shopping done here. Before you enter you take a quarter to unlock a cart and then get your money back when you return it. Keeps the parking lot from being full of abandoned carts. They have sanitizer wipes and hand sani as you enter to wipe the cart handle. Bring your own grocery totes if you remember, otherwise you can pay for bags or grab a cardboard box to haul your groceries. They have weekly sales ads so there's always something on special. Good selection of fruits and vegetables and they have organic options as well. My complaint is that so much of the produce is wrapped in plastic or in bags, too much waste. There's not a huge selection on items, the the simplicity of not having too much to choose from makes shopping more expeditious. Aldi carries a selection of organic items and some vegan options as well. Great price on their almond and oat milks. They have a limited selection of wines and beers which we've enjoyed. Good German chocolate bars for your sweet tooth. They also have an isle of Aldi Finds - weekly specials not food related but items for your home and garden. Every summer I pick up their pink begonias for our front door and they last well into fall for only $6 a pot! Aldis will help you stretch your shopping dollars and not overwhelm you with choices. read more

I go here about............ 2-3 times a week. A lot of good organic, uncured, fresh, reasonably priced inventory is located in this store. But you know what really makes shopping here a pleasure? The employees. They are genuinely nice, pleasant, conversational and wouldn't dream of insulting you. I also shop Trader Joe's and I do see the same items at Aldi's as I do at TJ's, but for a more reasonable price.. Some things are great, some things are ok and some things are mediocre. You just have to mill about and find what you're looking for. They don't have everything - but they sure have a lot. I am an Aldi's fan. read more

I was there today - it caused great concern. No wipes at door, noone wiping carts, workers without masks, checker had no mask & even though they have 2 sheilds available, only 1 checker was behind one. The majority of shoppers were acting like it was shopping as usual - loitering around various sections without social distancing. From an article I was under the impression Aldi was doing all they could in this situation. That hasn't reached this store. I won't be going back, no matter what I think I need. I used to have this weird association with Aldi when I was but a penniless lad. I always felt like I was getting a bad knock-off of a product, while others who shopped at Kroger and Publix were sitting pretty. Now, I don't know if their product changed in the last ten years, but Aldi has won my penny-pinching heart. For any new visitor, it's a different experience. You need a quarter for your cart (which you'll get back if you return it) and you'll need your own bags (unless you want to buy some in the store), but this is how they "pass on the savings to you!" What I've also learned in recent years is that a lot of off-brand products are actually name-brand products repackaged. Whether this is true or not, I'm not sure, but their Clancy's chips taste just as good as Lay's, and their Friendly Farms half & half is just as creamy as Purity's. They generally have the basics of what you normally would get on your average grocery trip, but they can frequently surprise you with some unexpected products (goat cheese, butter lettuce, gourmet soups). I've been pleased to see many low/non-fat offerings (their Fit & Active brand) and frequently a better meat selection than what's offered at Kroger next door. Their produce section could be bigger, but for budget shopping, I have no complaints. The fruits and veggies are almost always fresh and the selection is generally good. From time to time, they also provide some name brand products, so if you need your Reese's fix, they can probably you out with that. Whenever we throw a party, I typically can get 80%-90% of what I need here, then fill in the rest from either Kroger or the farmer's market (during the right season). Best of all, I usually spend about half of what I normally spend on groceries at Kroger, and that makes me a very happy shopper. read more

Don't be knockin' on my Aldi. I dislike those folks who say "They're weird!" or "They don't have everything I want!" Aldi is your best bet for your dry/canned goods. I haven't really shopped their meats, but I'm going to go on a limb and say they're just as good as Kroger's and significantly cheaper. Now true, true.. Their produce could use a lot of help. Their selection is tiny and you will really have to look over your fruits and vegetables before picking them out, but I recommend going to the Farmers' Market anyway for your produce. Unless you're one of those people who likes to do all their shopping at once for the month, take the time to stop at Aldi and pick up some essentials or at least some delicious snacks! As a proud bargain shopper, I am a fervent supporter of Aldi. I'll echo other reviewers that recommend Aldi for dry and canned goods. They sell many products that are very similar to those found in other supermarkets, yet marked at a considerably lower price. Healthy options are available in all departments. Minor excavation in the produce department can yield great finds for your tum and your wallet. Frozen berries are cheaper here than anywhere else in town--a major plus for my smoothie habit. Of course, they don't have everything that a larger supermarket carries, but that's when I like to fill in the gaps. Service is friendly, and lines are short. The store is clean and easy to navigate. 10c a plastic bag, 25c for the cart (returnable), lovely organised aisles, functional every day fodder, no expensive bottles of balsamic to throw the budget off track, sure its not all "organic" but some of it is "fit and healthy" according to the German lore. I always buy my meat here, pork/chuckie and mince. Check in the special freezer, it is always changing, I scored a whole duck ($14) a couple of weeks ago and a delicious Italian Lemon Marscapone cake ($5.99) this week. Their sweet potato fries are delish. Fresh produce can be a bit suspect so prod it carefully before making the commitment. I know I save money by shopping here and always feel I get twice the haul that I would have done at Kroger and not filled up on things I did not go in for. read more

Full disclosure: this is the only Aldi I have ever been to, but I love it. The first time I went in there I was underwhelmed, but I eventually went back and compared prices. They are Costco-like without having to buy a lifetime supply. Eggs for 89 cents and almond milk for $1.89. It's tastes the same! Now go here all the time. read more

Oh man, I love Aldi! I am so excited that they are close to my house. The majority of what they carry is their own brand, which is why everything is SO CHEAP! Fear not, they are not crappy off-brand products. Nearly every item is comparable to a name brand, like the Millville Fiber Bars, which are just as good as, if not better, than Fiber One Bars... and 2 dollars cheaper. I also love their "Fit and Active" line, which is healthier, low-calorie versions of your favorite foods. I go there to stock up on dried goods, snacks, yogurt, lunch meat, etc. The only issue I take is that the produce selection is slim, and what they do have is really not fresh at all. It doesn't bother me anyhow, since I get most of my produce from the farmer's market. read more

East Nashville has a good market to compete with same-old same-old Kroger. The Gallatin Road Aldi might not be Trader Joe's but its a fresh addition to the nabe. 1/2 dozen Valentine roses for just $4! Happy Farms cream cheese for 99 cents! Spiral cut honey ham just $1.49 a pound today! The German owned grocery sells discounted staples that are still good quality. Your budget will smile with the money you save if you score some Aldi bulk-packaged items. Honestly though, sometimes the produce can be a little tired. read more

If you realize what you're getting yourself into--a no frills, discount grocery store--then Aldi is amazing. There are few name brands, and usually only version of each product (e.g., one type of chicken soup, not 3-4 different brands). You need to carefully look over any produce you buy...sometimes it can be moldy or withered (most of it is not kept in a refrigerator). But most (not all) of the stuff is pretty decent quality, equivalent to name brands or store brands in fancier stores. The prices are excellent. There's an increasing amount of organic food. There's a bunch of stuff from Europe (mostly Germany) that's hard to find elsewhere, and certainly cheaper than World Market would be. It's rare that they're out of stock on the basics. They also have a weekly special buy section where you can get all kinds of interesting/useful stuff at good prices. Things I buy here regularly: organic kale and spinach, blue cheese, refrigerated tortellini, European cookies, pesto, canned diced tomatoes, tortilla chips, veggie chips, butter, broccoli, cucumbers, organic carrots, frozen berries, crackers, cleaning products, certain European cheeses Things that are hit and miss: yogurt (but comparable to Kroger brand), frozen entrees (especially involving cheese) read more

I was slow to try Aldi when they opened, but it is one of my favorite stores now. What to buy there? Chocolate. Eggs, butter, fair trade coffee, veggies -- apparently they have greatly improved their vegetable department, from what I've read here. I buy tomatoes, potatoes, sweet onions, broccoli, zucchini, lettuce, berries, mushrooms, avocados, lemons and limes. I once saw limes for $8 a bag at Kroger and went across the street to Aldi and found them for $1.99. Low sodium chicken stock -- the organic style is great. Ice cream. Mayo --their house brand is as close to Helman's/Best Foods as it gets. Jam -- delicious jams that are not overloaded with extra pectin. Sugar, herbs and spices, vanilla extract, baking items. Nuts. Dried fruits. The chocolate covered almonds are delish. Canned tomatoes -- the crushed ones are delicious, and they have organic canned tomatoes. Cheese -- they often have specialty cheeses, like British and Irish cheddars, and their own white cheddar is great. Their asiago is also excellent, but I was not as impressed with the parmesan. They have natural chicken for about a quarter of what Kroger sells it for. Their steak is thick and great if you can find any -- it sells out -- and the hamburger is good. I don't eat pork, so I can't vouch for that. I often come out of Aldi with 4 bags of groceries at the same price I have paid for about a third of that amount at Kroger. And did I mention the chocolate? Aldi is a cousin of Trader Joe's, both German companies owned by brothers. They are not union, but they pay their employees well above minimum wage and they give them benefits. They are not cutting costs by cheating their employees like some stores I know. Bring your own bags and a quarter for the cart (it pops back out when you return it). They take cash or debit cards, but no credit cards or checks. read more

I come here for two things...the cheap prices and the $1.99 fresh pineapple. It is amazing- just like candy. It's a great place that strips all the extras out to provide you with cheap prices. For instance, you provide a quarter for your grocery cart that you can get back when you return it. Bring your own bags to shop with (environmentally friendly) or you'll have to pay a nominal fee to purchase their plastic bags. You bag your own things... It is a straightforward, bare-bones, basic place that will get the job done. Beware though, they do not accept credit cards but will accept atm/debit cards and of course cold, hard cash. read more

Love Aldi. You'll be so surprised at how much money you save vs. Kroger. $50 at Kroger is barely anything, at Aldi, you can get a good amount of meat, etc for that amount. I happen to like the smaller selection- means I can get in/out way faster. Produce is sometimes rotten so you have to dig to look for untainted items like the strawberries, blueberries, etc, and it may turn your stomach if there's a gross onion fermenting somewhere :-( some of the items are seasonal like canned pumpkin, baking coconut, etc. read more
