    Prime ribeye steaks, hand cut

We were looking to get some nice steaks to grill for Memorial Day. We're new to Nashville and decided to try out Roy Meat Service based on the reviews. We parked and there was a closed for Memorial Day sign. But then Jeff popped up like magic and offered to open up, and cut us some steaks or cook us up something. What a great level of customer service, super nice people, great quality meat, and reasonable prices. We'll definitely go back :-)

Roys is located a little off the beaten path in East Nashville and unless someone has told you about it or you live near there you probably wouldn't know it was there. Whether you are looking for a reasonably priced plate lunch or want to take something home, Roys has pretty much what you need for a successful bbq at the house including a decent selection of craft beer. The meat is priced competitively with Publix or Kroger but looked to be better quality. in addition, they also carry high quality wagyu if you are making a special meal. Sandwiches are prices around $6 each and a meat and with 2 sides is less than $10. I ordered the 4 bone ribs ($8.50 a la carte) and turnip greens and enjoyed it on the patio outside. The ribs were very well done but the sauce was really one of the better sauces in recent memory. If you haven't, check them out. Places like Roy's are what gives Nashville a unique, friendly, neighborhood feel in comparison to other concrete jungle cities.

I love that Roys is still around, I remember walking over as a kid to get an ice cream or soda during the summer. He is the neighbor butcher, and one of the nicest guys in town. How many places now a days remember you from when you were a kid. Staff is friendly and if you are an OG East sider you'll have a great time catching up with the other folks who are still around here. He's added a gravel parking lot and the street has some as well. The food is always incredible, this man knows his meats! For two trays and a pulled pork sandwich (a must have) it was 30 bucks glad to see his prices haven't changed much either. Never changing though is the banana pudding, still one of the best In the city. I should have gotten two since the first one didn't even make it out of the parking lot. Overall I'd say if you haven't been here already come check it out and if you have, remember to get that banana pudding you'll regret it later.

    Tri-Tip after a 24 hour dry brine.

What an awesome establishment. It's one of the few places we've found that sells tri-tip, so we jumped at the opportunity. It's been so long since we've had it and it didn't disappoint. Great quality meat and they even picked one out of the back for me. Great staff and excellent service. We'll definitely be back!

Roy's is what it's all about! Friendly neighborhood butcher with amazing cuts of meat, amazing hot food and amazing people. I highly recommend the quesadillas they use smoked meat...words don't do it justice. Every neighborhood needs a Roys.

Certainly Nashville is a city replete with meat-and-three joints, some forgettable, some good, and some great. MacHenry is going to become one of the more competitive such establishments in the area with high quality, down-home cookin' from scratch. I've tried several meat options there including a roast pork loin with marvelous seasoning, juicy and tender in a light gravy. The catfish is a huge filet with beautiful crispy batter, although I hoped the actual fish had been a bit flakier. The two side dishes I've sampled were amazing. The fried Brussels sprouts with seasoning are perhaps the best in the city of Nashville, and I don't even like Brussels sprouts! They just left everyone at the table stunned! The mac and cheese is incredible, a far cry from the fake cheese sauce poured over shells that many restaurants attempt to get away with. This is real, melted, slightly crispy cheddar cheese over quality pasta were talking about! Everything here is homemade and the freshness shows. And the honey butter rolls are simply impeccable. Customer service here is fantastic as the owners make you feel very welcome and taken care of. I highly recommend a stop at MacHenry's Meat & Three!

The quality of everything they sell is top-notch, and it's become one of my favorite local spots for fresh meat. But this visit, I have to talk about the blueberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream. Wow. It was one of those desserts that makes you stop talking after the first bite. The cobbler was warm, packed with sweet blueberries, and had the perfect buttery, crumbly topping. Paired with the cold, creamy vanilla ice cream melting into it, it was absolutely incredible. I honestly wasn't expecting to find one of my favorite desserts at a butcher shop, but here we are! The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and happy to answer questions or make recommendations. You can tell they genuinely care about the quality of their products and the experience they provide. It's rare that I update a review, but this place earned it. I found myself over at Bellevue for dinner, 2 hours before my hockey game. I wanted quality food…read morebut not super carb heavy but also not something that could potentially wreck my stomach. After all, can you imagine having digestive problems while playing hockey? I love barbecue so I thought I'd try this place. I walked in and it wasn't at all busy at 5:32. However when I finished my order, the line was out the door. I asked the cashier what was good and the manager (maybe owner) walked over and I asked him. I wanted ribs or brisket, but needed a 2nd opinion. He said he would choose brisket because theirs is USDA Prime and he would put it against any other barbecue restaurant in Tennessee. Those are some bold words. So I ordered the brisket platter (fatty portion) with green beans and cinnamon baked apples. What I received was 3 good sized portions (1/2 pound) of fatty brisket. The meat was tender, melt in your mouth without an overbearing amount of fat clumped together. The bark was salty and very peppery. It was actually good enough to eat without a sauce. Speaking of, there was only one sauce on the table, so I used that. It was a sweet sauce, definitely honey-based but not overly sweet like other honey-based sauces I've had in the past. The thing is I love everything honey-related, so I would definitely buy this to take home. It was so good, I was scavenging for brisket fibers on my plate. So I praised the brisket but I think the shocker was the green beans. These were hands down, the best green beans I've ever had...ever. Salty, tender, peppery, with chunks of meat and fat, sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. Who would have thought that a side could be that good? Last but not least, the Cinnamon Baked Apples. I love baked/fried apples. Something about the tart and sweetness brings me back every time. The apples were soft, but not mushy. I would have liked them to be a little more tender and more slices of apples. I think there was more sauce than apples but nevertheless, they were great. Overall I'm glad I visited Honeyfire for the first time. I'm here often (near Bellevue) so I'll definitely be coming back again and again.
