New Day Cleveland on Fox 8 had a story on these guys in studio. A Rep came in and discussed all the…read moreCSA options and the what they do. They had a promotion that you can get 2 weeks for the price of 1 week and try this out. So I decided to try. Last week I got my first box. I chose the small vegetarian box. It's $29 bucks a week. So I got it for $19 bucks a week. My next box is this week. I got kale, zucchini, cucumbers, dill, blueberries, potatoes, kohlrabi, beets, peas, and an onion. Then we bought chocolate chips cookies and also a bag of english muffins. I made potato salad with the red potatoes and kohlrabi, and dill. We had breakfast sandwiches with the muffins they are big and really good! And I've made the various other veggies throughout the week. I am looking forward to this weeks box. I pick up at the Hudson stop. The lady who helped us was very nice. And they set up in a large space so you can see them and it's a good large window of time to get your stuff. Overall good experience and the veggies were fresh and good. I like that you're getting this from the source farmer. I like supporting a local farmer. Depending on your time and your means this could be a good alternative to shopping at corporate stores. Or maybe if you hate shopping for veggies. They have carnivore boxes and also vegan boxes. I chose the vegetarian because we get meat from a butcher. So this could be your shopping for the week in some cases. Check out the website and see if this is right for you.

Much has staid the same since the previous reviews... great weekly newsletter/ online store / bag process for 22 weeks in the summer... and a kind of wonky but refreshing winter subscription... summer starts in June and runs through october... winter picks right up but is only weekly to Turkey day and then changes to every other week. Shopping the online store is like having a farmer's market at your finger tips! Every week they also bring items to the stops for grab and go purchase... but if you really want milk and eggs... order online! They can sell out at the truck. This winter we tried the new Carnivore subscription... over the season smeveryone gets the same cow / pig / poultry and value add (lard, stock, deli meat, sausage, bones) but there is less flexibility... you need to go to the same stop each week. No dietary substitutions... everyone gets pork for example. The only downside to the omnivore winter subscription is the cabbage... lots and lots of cabbage... sauerkraut... more basketball size cabbages... so the carnivore is a nice change while still having access to the store and avoiding out of state protein. They post the newsletters and photos of the weekly bags online and have an epic treasure troce of recipes!

This is a Hollywood movie come true!…read more The Sirna's were your typical urban-dwelling family with regular city-type jobs up until a few years ago when they decided to buy a plot of land and move out to the country to start farming. Today, they do a great job encouraging and supporting local farming initiatives while taking their hard-worked goods to weekend markets in Cleveland suburbs like Shaker Heights and South Russell. They also operate their own storefront on their land open during growing season which features their own goods as well as stuff from local farms and wineries (cheese, sausages, canned goods, wines, etc.) - again, supporting the local farmers and businesses. One story I always tell people is on one weekend I was desperate for some dill as I had a bunch of baby cuckes at home ready to be pickled. She ran out of the store and came back from the fields a few minutes later handing me this gigantic bouquet of dill weed for about $2. Now I only needed a few sprigs for the pickles but boy the house smelled great for a week! We participated in their CSA one year - a way of buying a share in the farmers' operation. For an up-front lump sum fee, your share nets you a weekly bag of whatever the crops yield that week. This goes on for several months while crops can be harvested. While you don't usually get a choice of what you'll receive (it's whatever is ripening that week!), every bag has an abundance of food. This is perfect for the family that has flexibility in preparing and eating a variety of vegetables from week to week. We received throughout the growing season (not in just one week) corn, potatoes, tomatoes, green beans, radishes, zucchini, butternut squash, yellow squash, kohlrabi, onions, and much more. On weeks which were light on crops, especially in the beginning, Sirna's substituted freshly-ground peanut butter and local honey. Sirna's also does a Fall festival open house with hay rides for the kids. Located along 44 about 2 miles south of 422, Sirna's is definitely worth your while to stop by here one of your summer/fall weekends and support your local farmers.

The food was overall, very bland. It was expertly prepared, fresh, and beautiful. But the taste was quite boring. Be prepared to eat a second dinner when you get home. Also be prepared to sit at the bar- this place is very tiny. The vibe is nice. Low ceiling, dimly lit, comfortable cozy. The server/ bartender (I'm pretty sure she was running the whole place) Nikki, was phenomenal. So friendly, good drinks. We started with the oysters which were good. The mignonette sauce was a little different, it had lemon zest in it. It was very good! But the give you laughable amount. Like, a splash. Then we had the fig and prosciutto toast. This was the highlight for us. Tasty all the way around, 4 generous servings on the plate. Jam was so good and the prosciutto was warmed up ever so slightly. I had the hangar steak with some unseasoned boiled carrots. The steak was tender and high quality, but I couldn't taste a bit of seasoning. Also served with a tiny crispy potato pancake. Husband had the halibut special. This had some wasabi crust and if you got a bite of the wasabi it was good. The bites that weren't crusted were boring fish. Again, very fresh and prepared well. Black rice and asparagus also boring. I got a hint of lemon on one bite I tried. We also had the Brussels sprouts, which were charred along with the few pork belly pieces. Husband finished with a whiskey crème brûlée which he enjoyed. He did not, however, enjoy his Dark and Stormy. He said it was all booze and no beer or mix. Sadly, we won't be back.

I didn't realize that parking would be such a hassle but I'm assuming this is only temporary since they're repaving the lot . It's in a really busy strip mall! Getting in and out is such a hassle. The store is actually not too busy once you're inside. Staff here is absolutely friendly! I do think that the store is very dimly lit for some reason compared to other fresh thyme Market stores. The dining area is also very small as well as the organization inside too. Stafford is actually very friendly and accommodating. I also appreciate that they have a large variety of kombuchas. Things can get a little pricey here, but I guess you're paying for quality.
