    - fresh pasta (4 different kinds) - pasta sauces (mushroom, marinara, pesto, and meat sauce) - gluten free heaven - caffeinated drinks (coffee) - smoothies - milkshakes - freshly baked breads (13+ varieties) - desserts - flaky morning pastries - Marianne's Ice Cream - breakfast burritos - extensive lunch menu - friendly service - inexpensive - annoying street parking Been in my bookmarks ever since I developed an obsession w/ biscottis however, I did not get any this past Saturday. I was feeling great and wanted a small treat before heading to San Jose for a full day of festivities. Scored a parking spot right in front, I was eager to walk in. I love the overall atmosphere of this place; so intimate, so clean, and so cozy. I was in awe w/ the many things that were showcased. It took me awhile to figure out what I want. I got a slice of focaccia (made w/ sweet onions), a chocolate chip cookie for Gavin, and a slice of the Torta Di Roso (Swiss chard and rice wrapped in dough). It resembles a quiche in my eyes and given the fact that I have never seen it, I was determined to try it. The total for all 3 items came up to $6 and change. I couldn't believe it. After my Torta Di Roso was warmed up, I'd sprinkle a generous amount of Tapatio after my initial bite. It was creamy and somehow light. It tasted so good that I said to myself, "To hell w/ eating just half. I'm eating the entire thing!" I'd come now to get a slice now if I could! The focaccia was dry and incredibly stiff. It wasn't dense and I can't help but think about the onions and gruyere focaccia made by Manresa Bread Project. I was disappointed but sincerely think maybe I tried a bad batch. Gavin ate his entire cookie and I happened to converse w/ this guy that shared w/ me that he was Gavin's age when he was running around Aldo's. Clearly this bakery has been here for some time. If only they open on Sundays.

Giant pieces of eggshell found in my Benedict and no manager on duty on a Saturday morning to talk to about quality control.

Found the inattentive staff to be much more concerned with gossip about the weekend instead of addressing the three centimeter size pieces (photo included) of eggshell in the Benedict. Also describing a pastries' ingredients seemed like a chore to the barista(?). Warm, tasty, and probably not worth the return visit except for a loaf or quick coffee fix.

It's a very cozy cafe that has free WiFi, tea, and coffee! There is street parking in front of the cafe - 2 hour parking. I went in hoping to get some baked goods and luckily they still had some 20 minutes before closing! I got a tiramisu cake, 2 palmier, a cannoli, and a lavender biscuit. At first bite, the tiramisu cake wasn't that great but it got better as I kept eating more. The tiramisu cake is pretty stiff than most tiramisu cakes I've tried before. But near the center is pretty moist. I think the pictures from the past were more presentable than now. :( The palmier was pretty good! It has light, crispy, and flaky texture and has caramelized sugar on the surface. Super yummy. The cannoli - for some reason, I just didn't like it. It felt really fattening for me with a hint of cinnamon? The lavender biscuit/cookie was pretty good but the lavender bits was too much for me. I love lavender but this was overwhelming. I like the cookie part though! My friend got a strawberry shortcake for $4.50. The strawberries were decadent but the cake immediately broke apart. The shape of it crumbled into small pieces that it didn't really look like a cake. The cake was pretty moist but he didn't like that for a strawberry shortcake. Taste is above average. He wouldn't get it again but it was ok.

Great little spot with great food and a relaxing atmosphere. Had a raspberry bear claw and tagliatelle with bolognese. Delicious!

    Traditional meat sauce pasta!

LOVE their sandwiches, pastas & iced coffee! It gets pretty busy during high school's lunch time! Their customer service is great.

Is this place open for business? I often smell bread cooking but the sign on the door always says closed.

They haven't opened their storefront since COVID except for maybe a few days. It sure would be nice if they were more communicative about their status.

This place has great food and people are attentive to detail. The coffee has a really unique taste. I've been there four times now in the last two weeks and I've brought a lot of my friends. I continue to look forward to coming. Thank you so much for your attention to detail. We walked in as a family (me, husband, our baby) and while we were deciding what to order husband asked for the restroom code. The tall male employee looked us up and down and said so, you gonna buy some coffee? Husband said yes...why? The employee said "I just need to know if you're planning on buying something or just here to use the restroom . " Why would we come up to the counter , peruse the menu and bring the baby inside if that was our only goal? It was so off-putting. Anyhoo, the interior was nice all black and some sort of rock/ metal playing. There's magnetic tiles to Create your own conspiracy or statement and other conspiracy type decor . I got a 5G is killing our bees which was nice and smooth flavored espresso drink and husband tried the NZT 49 which he liked. but only thing is we regretted not trying a black cold brew or shot of espresso to really taste their coffee. Maybe next time. And hopefully next time that particular employee will chill out a little bit on their restroom. Might I add, this was my 2nd attempt to go to this location. Lol I would always wing it and never take a picture of their store hours either! So I'm sure it was operator error! I am so happy for this particular brick and mortar because the first time I met the owner was on a bicycle on West Kliff or maybe East not to show I used to walk a whole thing during the pandemic! He was a really cool gentleman selling coffee on a nice looking bike and everything was clean, cut! Their menu items have changed and I'm glad he got more coffee companies to collab with! I loved my Stimulation Theory- it was smooth and had great frothy flavor with the perfect accent of cardamom! Everything within the Cafe is black and there a lot of joint seating areas. Granted when I got there, the individual spots were already taken. I sat an area meant for a larger group. I also enjoy the death metal music, grated it was played at the normal coffee shop volume level. Hee. So I've never actually HEARD that style of music at such a low decimal level, so it actually was quite comedic to me. At the same time, I'm glad it wasn't super loud like other rock shows I've been to! But still very much a vibe!! I can't wait to go back and try other drinks and pour overs that they have!! I can't wait until they get pastries or some sort of pop-up since I love my carbs! Hee

I don't get bagels locally because, well, just because. I happily ordered us coffee and bagels. Now, bear in mind, we roast our own coffee, so to us, the coffee was on the "good" side of Ok. The bagels, on the other hand, were delicious! And boy, do they pack on the cream cheese (maybe enough for 3 bagels depending on one's preference)! Service was friendly and fast. And all the people coming and going were very pleasant - there were plenty of them. The sitting area outside next to the road is pretty small (next to a dumpster, I think), and my guy was having some mobility challenges (on crutches, etc.). Folks in the neighboring table were so kind and accommodating, voluntarily standing up so that he could maneuver into a seat. We went back the following week (yes, another medical appt), and this time they were out of the bagels we wanted, so note to self... get there early if you want a favorite bagel. We will definitely be back to Firefly for the bagels! Have I said "bagels" enough times already?

Coffee, Ocean Views & a Mini-Retreat for the Soul…read more I've been to A LOT of places for coffee, and I'll just say it: I'm a coffee snob. So when I say the coffee here is awesome, I mean it! What makes this place special isn't just the coffee--it's the entire experience. Operated by the Catholic Church, this peaceful coffee establishment has a beautiful prayer garden where you can stroll, reflect, and maybe even get your thoughts straight before your second cup. My bride and I spent FOUR HOURS here reading, journaling, talking, and enjoying the serenity. And yes, we were still happily married when we left! The view of the Pacific Ocean is spectacular. You can walk across the street, sit on a bench, and simply listen to the waves. There's also a spacious patio, clean restrooms, friendly and polite staff, and an atmosphere that seems to say, "Slow down...you're allowed to breathe." This isn't just a place to grab a cup of coffee. It's a place to grab a cup of coffee, grab your thoughts, grab your bride, and grab a little peace for your soul. As a Yelp Elite reviewer--and someone who takes coffee VERY seriously--this place gets my enthusiastic recommendation. Great coffee. Great people. Great atmosphere. Incredible view. And a prayer garden thrown in for good measure. Sometimes you don't need a vacation. You just need four hours, two cups of coffee, the Pacific Ocean, and someone you love sitting across the table. #YelpElite #CoffeeSnob #CoffeeLovers #PacificOcean #CoffeeAndViews #PrayerGarden #MiniRetreat #DateDay #GreatCoffee #HiddenGem #CoffeeWithAView #SoulRefreshment
