Coffee is great! I'm a huge Americano fan, the main thing I love here is the avocado toast with picked onions. So good!

Went in to grab a couple of coffees to-go and a hot cocoa for my daughter. I had high expectations based on reviews I had heard. The coffee is a little too acidic for me, and being my first experience - the barista didn't explain their menu. I was expecting pour over. My daughter said it she didn't like the hot cocoa and it was too watered down. After I tried it I agreed, and have had superior hot cocoa elsewhere. I think this place is overrated. Staff wasn't super friendly and no sense of urgency, no friendly smiles. Hot cocoa took 10 minutes. read more

Stopped by for a midday snack and drink, pleasantly surprised! The same morning I visited another verve coffee roasters, but didn't realize there wasn't a kitchen at that location. Food & drink: I ordered avocado toast and bowl of soul aka london fog. Not only was the avocado toast aesthetic, it tasted very delicious! Perfect amount of salt, pickled radish paired well with creamy avocado and the red onions added a nice, spicy sweet flavor! The bowl of soul was exactly what I needed on a windy day. I'd give 0 stars if I could. I don't understand the hype of this place and I'm a coffee aficionado! My husband tried their flash cold brew and it tasted like medicine. I literally spit it out. He threw it away. It was disgustingly undrinkable. I tried 2 different matcha drinks and it just missed the mark. They were kind enough to remake mine (hence the extra star) but other than that, a waste of money. read more

What a hidden gem. Decided to head out to Capitola to hang out with some friends and they knew all the spots. Coffee was great. Perfect mix of flavor but I just got an original latte. My friends and I were craving some pastries so we asked the girl off the counter of what each pastry was and she took her time to explain them to us. The best pastry that they had that we found that was really good. Was the goat cheese croissant. We almost bought extra ones take on the same day but we did come back the next day to buy some more when we left. I don't know what it is but it is great. I would buy it again in a heartbeat. The place is decently sized. There is standing room and sitting room and outdoor seating. If it's a nice day I would suggest to sit outside since it doesn't get too hot. read more

Located in the southern end of Santa Cruz this Verve location is very good. I ordered a Flat White and a Ham & Cheese Croissant which were both excellent. The coffee rich & smooth and the croissant flaky and flavorful. My son had the Cappuccino which he enjoyed as well. The barista that took our order was very friendly and even though the shop was fairly busy the drinks came out quickly. As for the shop itself the atmosphere is airy & relaxing with high ceilings, lots of plants and plenty of seating. The surrounding area is filed with shops and plenty of street parking. A lovely coffee shop with a cute vibe, decked out with live plants, art, and a wall of coffee & coffee accessories. The food here is reliably good but I have to say it's $$$ for what you're getting and it's really disappointing a place like this charges extra for dairy alternatives. The vegan offerings are few, but it's enough (I guess?). You can customize your drink with milk of choice. As for food, a vegan can have oats, chocolate chip cookie and avocado toast (without butter). They are generous with the avocado but you would expect so with it costing $12. Verve also serves their sandwiches on Manresa bread which is very tasty for sure. One nice thing to mention is- if you are vegetarian an remove the bacon from the breakfast sandwich, the cashier will deduct $2 from your total. So, basically you can swap bacon for avocado and it will net out the same. I thought that was nice :) The service here is always friendly and the cashiers & baristas are knowledgeable about their offerings. It wouldn't be a bad idea to come here for coffee then hop over next door to pair it with ice cream at Penny's! read more

A friend recommended we stop at Verve Coffee Roasters on our way out of the bay and we were so glad we did. The drip coffee was fantastic! It was Fathers' Day, so the place was bustling. We didn't end up ordering food, because they had sold out of a lot of items, but the coffee still hit the spot. read more

I've been coming here for more than a year. Lately the service has been going down hill. When I visited this past Saturday, there was nobody in line. But the guy taking orders did not seem to want to be there. I ordered my usual Pistachio milk latte. It came out as shown in the photo. My previous order from two weeks ago looked even worse, just a blob in the center. No one tried to explain what happened. I was just ignored. Having serious doubts about visiting this establishment in the future. read more

I know, I know... I gave Verve another shot after my disaster downtown. Coffee? Decent. Service? Still painful. Four employees: one at the counter, two "making drinks," and one hanging out possibly on break. One person in front of me and it somehow took over 15 minutes for a matcha latte. The two on the machine were just chatting while the line exploded to 10 deep with 5 more waiting on drinks. Shoutout to the one kid actually trying to help too bad the main barista was on a power trip and kept telling the kid not to help him even thought the line just kept growing. One of my favorite avocado toasts is from here. It's what I always order and my iced mocha Good ambiance too and the people are nice and smiling, greets you and says "have a nice day" when you're leaving. Also, I love that they have a lot of indoor plants inside and have a faucet where you can get (self service) water. They also have restroom and a lot of tables and seats. Was staying at the Marriott down the road and was tired of hotel coffee. This place was close by, and I glad we found it! Very modern vibe to the place, but comfortable enought to hang out. It was constantly busy the days we went. That's a good sign. I ordered the Orang Creamcicle coffee. It was delicious! Ordered the same thing the next day, but with an extra shot. Liked it much better. Ordered the breakfast sandwich and another sandwich, tuna I think. One was enough for both of us, we xould have split either one. I love how they serve their iced drinks in real glasses...and with their cute logo! We got the matcha latte and the nitro flash brew, both iced, for a quick mid afternoon pick me up and couldn't resist pairing it with one bakery item, which turned out to be from Manresa bakery! Unfortunately, they were out of the kouign amann, but we got a close runner up with the monkey bread. It had a nice caramel-y bottom, which would have been nicer if warm. I've been coming to this Verve for years. Have no idea how and why I haven't posted a review for this amazing spot until now. As a local and now out of towner. Staff is always welcome and kind here, food is amazing. They do run out of food around 2pm or stop serving food then so keep that in mind. White mocha and lattes with their homemade whip cream are my favorites. But honestly you can't go wrong with any coffee here. Food wise you can probably already tell that I'm a huge fan of their avocado toast especially with poached egg. Tried with bacon today instead and yes the bacon is delicious! There's a few open tables here and usually doesn't get super busy but depends on what time of the day you come. Inside is very nice with lots of cool plants and also there's outdoor seating as well. Walking distance to the beach so what else could you possibly ask for? Amazing coffee, welcoming staff and great ambiance indoors and outdoors. One of capitola favorites as far as I'm concerned. It's one of those on your list that should be a must visit to enjoy. I'll be coming back here plenty of times more! read more

Very cute little coffee shop by Pleasure Point. It wasn't too busy early Friday afternoon and the staff was really pleasant and helpful when I asked about food recommendations in town. I ordered two large vanilla lattes (one iced with oat milk and one hot with whole milk) for $14. It was promptly made and tasted great. My first experience with Verve was at this location with friends. It was perfection. House latte is the one n only way. Hits the spot everytime. Hot or cold. Take the hit and do it with whole milk. It is the best tasting thing they have on the menu. I also tried their seasonal pistachio dates and I very much enjoyed it. They have what seemed like limited seating, but in reality, it is just sooooo busy here, no matter the time. Street parking is available but it is metered. Downtown area so it's expected. From this moment on, I am a fan of verve! Wish it was closer to home, but it's worth the trip to Santa cruz! read more

I've heard so much about Verve, and I have to say it lives up to the hype! The Santa Cruz location is so aesthetically pleasing with pleasant staff and plenty of seating. The WiFi is great and it's an ideal spot to get some work done. Though on the pricy side, my boyfriend and I enjoyed our hot oat milk mocha. It wasn't too sweet but had a great chocolate flavor and you could tell the espresso was good quality. Stopped by here on the way to Capitola at 9am on a Tuesday. There was a lot of people getting their coffee/tea fix. The line was not too long when I arrived as many people have already put down their order and was just waiting to pick up their drinks. I was a bit overwhelmed with what to choose and had asked for suggestions from the cashier. One of the choices was a Oat Vanilla Latte. Since it was a bit chilly that day, I decided to go for the hot version (they have an iced version). I was very satisfied with the cashiers suggestion. I really enjoyed my drink! As a barista myself, I can wholeheartedly say you do not want to miss out on this place. Their drinks are skillfully poured with so much craftsmanship and care. The coffee is extremely overpriced, I paid $8 for a tiny drink. I don't usually mind if the quality and taste is good but it was alright at best. I got the mocha and asked for whip cream on top, I got I kid you not a a tiny dot of whipped cream. On top of that the workers are pretentious and give you attitude if you ask any questions. An early morning pick me up that was well worth a great coffee. The staff were very respectful and even very friendly as they were communicating and had a conversation. They had great service. I had the vanilla iced latte which was full of flavor sweet but you can still taste the coffee it was incredible.
