please, please I absolutely love this place. There is always a line. Please don't go here.... LoL! I wanna be able to come in and get a coffee quick and relax. This place has great food and people are attentive to detail. The coffee has a really unique taste. It doesn't taste so dark and so like cooked like other places do it's it's got a really nice smooth flavor. I hope everybody will try it. Also the names of your coffee the food the atmosphere. It makes it really fun. I know that it's a small shop it probably only seats maybe 25 people inside and outside but what a great experience. I've been there four times now in the last two weeks and I've brought a lot of my friends. I continue to look forward to coming. Thank you so much for your attention to detail. Please keep up the good work. Nice little coffee shop, great wifi and has ample seating. Didnt order anything but i saw they have a pretty extensive menu. Theres also a large set of 3 drip like coffee things which is really cool. Recommend visiting here if your stopping by santa cruz read more

Terrible! Avoid at all cost! I went to this place for the 1st time this morning. I waited at the counter with only 1 person in front of me for 10 minutes. After that person ordered, the counter clerk went to make his coffee. No one else stepped up to take my order. The only other worker was in the side room (probably taking a break) talking to the only other worker making the previous customers coffee. No one said anything, especially like, "we will be right with you". I was completely ignored for another 10 minutes waiting to order 1 simple cup of coffee. I walked out, never to return. Bad service with a "we could care less" attitude, looses customers! Enough said! read more

Nice ambiance and great tea selection. I work nearby but I finally decided I'm done. I brought my own coffee mug and it was $5.50 for a 16oz coffee (plain). By the way, they only make Americanos. A great early morning coffee joint. We were traveling from the East Coast so our timing was off but they were ready for me at 5:30(!) am with very large Americanos. No drip coffee is a good sign. Lots of tasty snacks and friendly service despite the pre-dawn timing. Highly recommended! read more

This coffee is magical. It led me to inquire with the owner. There is a reason. His love of coffee and quality and consistency are displayed in the deep rich flavor without the jitters. This is the best mental coffee I've ever had. His care for selecting all the right beans and careful roasting process even before he will sell you a bag of beans is to be commended. You have to be a true coffee lover to experience the nuance. But even if you're not, you will enjoy this coffee. read more

People's Coffee is an interesting local coffee shop, but I probably wouldn't go back. The coffee was rich, and well balance, but the prices left a bitter taste in my mouth. They charge $4.75 for a somewhat large (20oz I believe) cup of drip coffee. Then another $.25 for the cup. Lol! According to the staff it's due to a city ordinance, but really? Can't they just add it into the already high price of the coffee. Nobody else charges this much for middle of the road drip coffee. I asked for room for cream, so l they filled my cup about 3/4 full. Seriously? I don't put 6oz of cream in my coffee. Does anyone? They did add more coffee, but didn't top it off, after I asked for more. Try this place if you must, but be prepared for high prices and short pours. read more

Cute little coffee shop with good coffee, a warm, easygoing vibe and a lot of charm. Ordered an everything bagel and cafe latte, my guy had a breakfast sandwich and a mocha latte. Coffees were served in big mugs with pretty designs on top and the food was good. Seems to be a popular spot to hang out but we ended up having to change from our mugs to to-go cups to head out the door after eating breakfast. This is my go to coffee shop. Number one they have really good coffee and they have the best service by far with the most friendly people. The environment is Just Way, Santa Cruz. Lots of good surf memorabilia. And they play awesome music. Lots of places to sit around at tables couches inside outside. Recommend this place and what's very very important is it is locally owned and operated so your money stays in Santa Cruz that's very very important Support local only. read more

Awesome coffee! They don't do drip. It's all expresso and delicious. Curtis, the owner, treats employees great and they stick around which is a wonderful bonus on top of the great coffee. I work out of town a lot and only get in 3-4 times a year and the girls always remember me. I have been going into Peoples Coffee as long as they've been open and it's always a treat. Omg the Chai Tea is AMAZING !!! I don't know what kind of tea it is but after one sip I was wishing for another cup. Absolutely love the staff. This morning I stopped by for a snack in order to support a local business where I had pleasant dining and coffee experiences many times before. I am mildly immuno-compromised, so I was wearing an N95 mask when I went in. First thing I noticed is that NONE of the tables or chairs, inside or outside, are visibly socially distanced. There are no marks on the floor to let people know where to stand to observe the 6' guideline. There are NO VISIBLE signs stating COUNTY and STATE regulations regarding the reopening of inside dining WITH RESTRICTIONS--IN PARTICULAR, THE MASKING REQUIREMENT. An elderly man, in the vulnerable population of over-65, went in and out talking into a phone without a mask, sitting down without a mask, working on his computer without a mask at a cramped table which was at the maximum 18" from the table next to him. I asked if they were observing the mask rule. The employee said yes, except she said he was drinking coffee and needing to have his mask off. He was not drinking coffee. He did not take one sip the entire ten minutes I waited for my food. While I was in there, I was apparently in the employee's way, so instead of observing social distancing, she was leaning over me, getting within about 6 INCHES of me, reaching around me--it seemed I could not get out of her way as she was stocking the store. I sat for a moment until I realized the table I had my arm on was sticky. The table clearly had not been recently sanitized. I did not eat what I bought there. I drove home and reported them to the County. So sorry, I am doing my best to support local businesses but they need to support me too--and all other citizens, even the young and seemingly healthy, which INCLUDES their employees btw--by OBEYING THE FREAKING LAW. read more

Was sexually harassed by an employee. I was a daily customer for 4 years and was insulted by staff here. They did not care more believe I was sexually propositioned by the employee and told me I was banned. I know the same guy was begging another long time customer and am sure we are not the only ones. The owner insulted people who came from El Dorado center telling them "I hear coffee is good for mental problems." As he laughed! The owner is the reason employees are so inappropriate. One time owner told me the customer his employee used to be a star athlete and I should feel bad for him because he's sad he works in a coffee shop now vs dealing with his employees strange behavior. Banging on the bathroom door demanding to know what I was doing when going "number 2" was very bizarre. I had screen shots too from the sexually harassing employee. I am sure they realized the truth soon after because he did this to many customers. read more
