The inside of the Bagelry is nice and spacious. You can sit either inside or on their lovely patio area. The service was friendly and helpful. All the staff seem to really like working there. I ordered the Pink Flamingo on a 3 seed bagel, my wife got an oatmeal date bagel with a honey almond cream cheese and my daughter got peanut butter and jelly on a cinnamon raisin bagel. We were walking back to the car from breakfast down the street when we spotted The Bagelry and figured we might as well buy some bagels for the week. The place was busy, which is always a good sign! The line went quickly and we were able to order six bagels for the road. The inside reminded me of an early 2000s coffee shop with an outdoor garden patio. It was really welcoming, I wish we could have stayed longer. We got the pesto, jalapeño, plain, everything, tomato basil, and blueberry. We tried the pesto and jalapeño bagels this morning at home and honestly it's some of the best bagels we've had! Always 5 stars. Since I started going 15 years ago. I love the Bagelry. This has been one of my go to menu combos for years. "Hum and eggs" which is their hummus and egg salad. Usually it comes one kind on each half, but I like to get it "stacked" which means on top of each other on both sides. I also love to get the oatmeal date bagel with the "royal palm" cream cheese which is dates, walnuts, and cinnamon. And always on my favorite whole wheat plain bagel. They offer seeded ones as well. My daughter always gets a blueberry bagel with berry cream cheese which I think is raspberry. Don't even think you can stop in for a quick bagel and cream cheese and eat it in your car on your way to work. One of the worst customer experiences I've had in a long time. Everyone seemed like they hated all the customers to the point where they were giving me dirty looks for ordering. I ordered a scrambagel with bacon and cheese. The food was exquisite, an absolute five stars. However the customer service I got from the person taking my order was so vehemently terrible that I had to take my rating down a whole three stars. I did not catch his name, but it was an older man wearing a button up shirt and he had dirty blonde/brunette hair. Yes, I am literally adding his description cause of how vile my interaction was. I walked in around twelve, and although there was a rush, the line moved quickly. When I got called up to order, I VERY POLITELY greeted the man taking my order and asked if I can have a bagel with scrambled eggs. He then abruptly replies and looks extremely annoyed and says what bagel. I ask what do you have? And I kid you not, he cuts me off, literally gives me a dirty look, and aggressively tells me that they are "right there." THEN he asked me if I wanted cheese on my bagel, to which I replied yes. OF COURSE, YOU GUESSED IT. His tone is extremely condescending and he asks me "Well what cheese do you want then ." I ask what do they have, and he's STILL UPSET while responding. I was very obviously a new customer so the fact that I am confused a bit on how to order is completely expected. Even if I was not a new customer or he somehow didn't know that (he does it's common sense I was puzzled) why was there ever reason to take that tone. Yes it may be frustrating that I didn't say my order right, but that is no justification to act classless and vulgar. Also even if I was a returning customer, pipe down. I don't need a nice response, just not a mean one. Everything that came from this man was so pessimistic. I have also worked in food service so I KNOW the way I spoke to him was extremely polite. Why would I sass a worker who is serving the food I'm about to eat? The service I received was so bad that I couldn't even enjoy my sandwich to the fullest. I was weirded out that a complete stranger(employee) felt like they had the authority to speak down on me. I don't know if it's because I am a student at UCSC and maybe he has some sort of disdain about young people, but it most certainly felt like he was being mean to me because he perceived me as young and not able to fight back. To the worker who served me, your aggression and presentation of self was distasteful and classless. You represented your place of work as a place that serves you delicious food, at the cost of being eviscerated by the staff. Do better. UPDATE. I have decided to change my review to a one star. All 3 of us decided that we were happy with our order, but the other two were also really good. I enjoyed the Fandango so much I ordered a pint of the spread to take home! The Scrambled Egg Bagel was a bit stale in my opinion... also, they forgot about the Jack Cheese. We were on a schedule so we shrugged it off, but forgetting the 90-cents-add-on cheese is not a good look. The cashier was super sweet, and called our names for the drinks clearly. I guess they have someone else call names for bagel orders, because we did not hear our names for the bagels at all. We were dining in, so we sat at a table and listened from there. But the tables have tall walls, so you can't see the cashier/pick-up area without standing up. My crush and I were just sitting and keeping our ear out for our names, but we only ever heard the cashier call out more names for drinks. Our toasted bagels were cold because the person calling names for food wasn't very vocal or cares to repeat themselves. Overall, loved the Berry Bagel so I would come here again. I'll just probably order to-go and make sure my order is right next time before leaving. If dining in, don't sit by the OPEN windows. I love the Bagelry I have been going there all locations for over 30 I'm giving a 4 stars because yesterday I ordered a bagel half hummus, half egg salad lightly toasted. I noticed that people behind me were already getting their orders! And then, at one point after that, I noticed that my bagel was sitting there with just the hummus and the other side empty. After another name was called again people that were behind me. I asked one of the workers and she says we do two orders at a time the order she was working on was Three bagels, all with cream cheese, sprouts, cucumbers, and onions when my bagel was simple and just sitting there neglected as I waited. I think it's a really strange process make it make sense that they wouldn't work on a single bagel with no toppings just spread versus three bagels with spread and three additional toppings. This place was good! I do have to say, the menu is extremely confusing and difficult to understand/order from. We were trying to figure out what to order and the cashier told us to just disregard the menu and order what/how you want. So I think that's the easiest way to go. Everything was really good and the sandwich was really good. The eggs are cooked perfectly and include green onions which I really like. Only critique is the confusing menu and the bagel are much smaller in size diameter wise, but they are dense and thick. Whereas I prefer a thinner bagel, but that's just personal preference. We ordered bagels for breakfast. The scrabbled eggs in a bagel sandwich were pretty good, both with and without cheese. We ordered a flamingo, which had lox blended into the cream cheese. That came with a thick layer of cream cheese and was also pretty good. We ordered hot chocolate, which had a decent cocoa taste. We had to stir the bottom of the cup because otherwise the cocoa and sugar would settle on the bottom. We also ordered the hot cider. At first we were sort of surprised that they used a tea bag to make it, but it had a surprisingly strong apple and cinnamon taste. I assume they also added sugar to the cider. All in all, the food was pretty good. The people were easy to work with. Orders are placed at the counter, and your name is called out when the food is ready to be picked up at the counter. The only two slight downsides were cost and waiting time. We spent $50 for breakfast for three, which is not too much less than a full-service sit-down restaurant. We waited about 10 minutes for our bagels. They were busy with quite a few orders, so that's not too bad, but we still had to wait. read more

We went to this place because of the good reviews. My wife and I grew up in NY/Long Island, so our bagel standards are pretty high. That said, we are always open to great bagels, anywhere. This place is a massive disappointment. The bagels are surprisingly small (not a big deal) and the texture sucks (a huge deal). On our way out of Santa Cruz we stopped at The Bagelry for some quick bagels to go since they have gluten free bagels and my husband has a gluten sensitivity. To our surprise they had two gluten free bagel flavor options; plain and everything. My husband got the plain scrambagel which he very much enjoyed - pretty much no restaurants or bakery's have gluten free bagels. He also had a hot coffee which he said was really quite good coffee. The rest of us gluten eaters ordered a plain scrambagel with cheddar cheese, blueberry bagel with raspberry cream cheese, and a raisin bagel with butter. All were great! We happily at our bagels in the parking lot and we're on our way. I would definitely come back and am interested in trying their other bagel flavors, bagel sandwiches, and even their soup. read more

The price is so affordable we got a salmon with lox and an egg bagel with extra guacamole for under 20 dollars. My bagel was the egg bagel with melted cheddar cheese and I added guacamole for 1 dollar it was so good! It wasn't too salty or too cheesy. It filled me up right away. The guacamole was a nice add on. I had a lox bagel (plain bagel)!!! It was soooo yum! The salmon was nice and fat and juicy, it also came with green and or red onions, and it was just perfect!
