Warm atmosphere, welcoming hostess to a good start. Service was quick and friendly! Our group shared family style for the meal. Fried calamari tender with just the right amount of batters. Mussels with white creamy buttery garlic sauces was great for dipping. Fried zucchini done just right and in generous portions. For entrees we shared two order of each, veal marsala and linguini white clams. Veal was tender and seasoned just right. Linguini was al dente, clams was on the small size. We celebrated my mom's birthday here last night and our meal was fantastic! Food: For appetizers, we had spedini, Caesar salad, and garlic shrimp. For dinner, we had polenta, shrimp scampi over linguine, and sole francese. Everything was delicious and flavorful. Service: Our waiter promptly gave us menus, poured our wine (and provided an ice bucket) and explained specials. All of the wait staff were attentive, kind, and went above and beyond. I can't believe I missed reviewing this place, we have been coming here for years. It's BYOB (my preference). The waitstaff are always efficient and friendly but never chatty. The food selection is great and everything on the menu is great. Even on holidays when the menu is shortened it's still a great meal never a hiccup. It's a good place for dates, business or family. Not too noisy. If you want something you don't see on the menu the chef is very accommodating. I recommend if your in the area, don't forget your vino. read more

Went back to Aldo's this evening with the family and was blown away. We shared the calamari, zucchini, and mussel appetizers. No need to stay away from the fish any longer! Calamari were great and the sauce on the mussels were out of this world. Our entrees were also delicious. Most of us ordered pasta and it was cooked perfectly with amazing combinations of flavors. I also have to take a minute to recognize their salad. I know that salad is a fairly simple side/appetizer but this salad was one of the freshest I've ever had. It was unbelievably crisp! Our first time at Aldo's, so we chose a quiet Tuesday for lunch. What impressed us immediately, was the attention to table settings, from crisp, bright tablecloths, to shining utensils and glassware. Throughout the meal, the table was bussed quietly and unobtrusively, making conversation possible, without the usual clattering of dishes or arms reaching across you. To many, this may seem like a small thing, but when you're eating at a place rated $$, you have a right to expect this enhanced quality of service. That set a very nice scene, for a great lunch. When the waiter mentioned Bluepoint oysters, I knew what I'd have, to start. They were fresh and had been opened to retain their original liquor - something only an oyster lover would appreciate. Being an oyster lover as well, my daughter gave these bivalves the "thumbs-up," as well. Served on a bed of ice chips and with a freshly made cocktail sauce, it was the perfect appetizer. My wife, daughter and I shared a personal favorite, a lovely Pizza Rustica. For those of you unfamiliar with this Italian specialty, it is a crust filled with ricotta, mozzarella, bits of meat (often sausage meat or ham), eggs and milk - then baked, until it's creamy inside. It's usually served at room temperature. It was a delight, to enjoy this specialty, which is so rarely found at any Italian restaurants. Their minestrone soup was substantial, prepared as they do in Italy (without thickening). I felt that the greens were a bit overcooked, but the soup was seasoned correctly and not oversalted. A great way to start a meal. The House Salad was soft, spring greens, with a very light dressing - again, NOT overseasoned. The same for their Caesar Salad, which was prepared using a light hand on the dressing. My daughter's penne vodka was right-sized, and the penne looked light and tender. Too often, restaurants use rigatoni for this pink sauce, making a light topping seem heavy and doughy. My wife's vitello (veal) francese was tender and moist. She noted that it looked as if the veal had been sliced thinly, instead of being pounded. Always a good sign. Pounded veal tends to turn out dry, while this was perfectly done, and accompanied by fresh steamed vegetables. My Pollo Braisia (grilled chicken with broccoli rabe) was excellent, the chicken being fork tender. This was served with a small portion of crispy shoestring potatoes. Service was attentive, but never intrusive. It was a pleasure to dine at an Italian restaurant that understands how Italian food should be prepared. read more

My only wish was that I was at Aldo's for dinner rather than lunch so I could have stayed longer. Each entree is accompanied by a very generous salad. The entrees are sizable and delicious. The guests at my table had chicken, filet, veal and a salad with pears and Gorgonzola that looked divine. The service was terrific and attentive. Water glasses were always full. The bread was fresh and warm. The menu, while not that expansive had enough choices and then the waiter updated us on the specials which sounded terrific. Disgraceful and irresponsible behavior by the owner of this restaurant. We went to dinner with friends on Friday evening November 19th, when the bill came every entre we had was priced at $2.00 more than the price on the menu given as we sat down, as well as the price on the menu on the website. When we questioned the waiter about the over charge we were told that all of the entrees were priced $2.00. more on the new menu that wasn't printed yet. We went for New Year's Eve and the food was good but the service was lacking. The portions were decent. I had a chicken dinner and wasn't offered a choice to have it with pasta. It came only with vegetables. Besides the service, our only other complaint was that one of the special appetizers, a single piece of mozzarella on eggplant surprised us at $21.95. We felt that it was way too much for the small portion and way too much compared to other appetizers. We felt like one of the few tables of non-gray or white haired seniors. First I have to start by saying James is the best waiter in the world! He is polite, professional and very animated! We always request him. The food is always perfect and I would say that anything on the menu is a sure bet! Even the house salad that comes with most entrees is amazing! Chilled to perfection and always fresh. In perhaps the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in a restaurant, the head chef walked into the men's room behind me, did what he had to do in the other urinal, and then walked out and back into the kitchen without washing his hands. I know this because there was only one sink in the bathroom, and he felt it more important to run back to handle food than to wash his hands I immediately went to the maître d' and explain what I had just seen, and she sent him out to apologize to me. He claimed that there's a sink in the kitchen and he washed his hands there. But it was likely the same sink where they are washing my salad and my utensils and my glasses and who knows what else. Bottom line, this was a disgusting and despicable display of a cavalier and unsanitary attitude. Eat at Aldo's at your own risk. read more

Service with an attitude. Unless your one of the 70+ year old regulars be prepared to wait 20 minutes before someone comes to your table after being seated. When the waiter does come he brings an attitude, doesn't give the specials, and gets the order wrong. The salad comes with the appetiser and the bread basket comes when your finishing your meal. The service was terrible and the food not much better. We arrived in a Saturday night before the dinner rush. It took a long time to take our order, bring our salads and ultimately our food. And when the meal finally came, it was not worth the wait. The chicken was tough and my husband's expensive shrimp special had tiny little shrimp. The waiter never came back to check on us. We asked the busser for a fork since they took my silverware. He never came back with one nor could we catch someone's eye to ask again for one. My husband ate his pasta with a spoon. Extremely disappointed. The service was terrible. It appeared as if they didn't have enough staff as our waiter was serving every table. Here is a list of the issues: no menus given for 20 minutes. We had to ask, no bread brought to the table, we asked and then had to ask again for butter, water glasses never refilled. Appetizers came out cold, they tried to bring my friends side of pasta out before her appetizer and it was supposed to come with her dinner, we never received our salads. Our dinners came out and the salads had not been served. Neither my husband nor our friend could eat the carbonara. They both said it had a "odd taste". My friend had salmon and said it was good. My chicken scarparello was very rubbery and tough. There was one piece I couldn't even cut, but overall the flavors were good. Consistent lack of any server attention. And the food runner literally threw/dropped our food on the table. He was impatient and clearly rushed. Anyway, the list could go on and on. I'm just scratching the surface. The server asked if I wanted my dinner wrapped to take. I said no, but he did it anyway. I dropped it in the trash on the way out. This is on my "never return " list. Funny thing is, some people seemed to receive good service. Maybe regulars? I get that, but for the life of me cannot figure out how you would become a regular here- who would come back?? Avoid the filet mignon and jumbo shrimp, I got food poisoning from it last night (projectile vomiting and watery diarrhea) . The service was horrible. It took the manager 2 hours to finally get the courage to come over and let us know that their "computers crashed". I can understand that, however, don't leave a table sitting there for hours without letting them know what happened. At least the waiter could have come over and asked if anyone needed more drinks, the guy was walking past our table constantly and never offered any apologies (until we asked "what the hell is taking so long"). And, oh, the managers reaction was, [insert jersey accent here] "our computers crashed, what do you want me to tell you." I have to say how surprised and impressed I am with Aldo's - considering it was Christmas Eve and all of the parties in the restaurant (including ours) were about 8 people or larger. I can only speak to the food I ordered and my experience - but I was very happy with my meal. A few of us shared some of the calamari, which was lightly fried, perfectly satly, and addictive. For my entree, i ordered one of the many specials of the day - a freshly made rigatoni with shrimp & baby spinach in a light tomato sauce. It was super delicious. The pasta was great, the shrimp seemed fresh, and the sauce was flavorful and I ate nearly every bite. Service was pretty good - considering it was Christmas Eve and a packed house. Visited May 25th 2015 We've eaten here before but it's been years since the last time. We decided to try Aldo's again and I'm glad we did. We live about 5 minutes away and pass by here all the time and notice their parking lot is always busy... full on the weekends. We started with the stuffed artichoke and frankly it's the best stuffed artichoke either of us had ever had. Excellent and highly recommended. I had a warm beet salad (with arugula and goat cheese which was excellent. I had the Orecchiette Strascinati (broccoli rabe and sausage with cannellini beans) which is my favorite pasta dish lately. I wish they would use hot sausage instead of sweet sausage, but I did ask the waiter to 'kick it up a notch". The kitchen did and it was very good. My wife had the Linguini Frutta di Mare, which she enjoy, but would have liked a bit more seafood than what came with the dish. My brother in law had the Capellini Deana which he raved about all night... and he doesn't do that much. I might have to go back for this dish. It did look good. My sister-in-law and bronzini like fish which was filleted at the table... served with canollini beans and asparagus. She liked her dish very much too. We also shared a tortufo and the in-laws shared a canoli. (Ugh! What is the attraction to canolis? I just don't get the fascination with them) Anyway... this is a BYOB so that's a plus... The wait staff was very friendly and detailed in the explaining the specials. Overall we all liked Aldo's very much. The reason only 4 stars is the pricing. I think is a bit steep. My wife and I dined here on a recent Saturday night. We were very satisfied with the food - very tasty and reasonably priced. The service was also professional. On a minor note, the silverware was substandard for this place; very light and similar to what you'd use in a greasy spoon diner. More importantly, the noise level of the place was nearly unbearable. Admittedly, the place was packed when we arrived. But it was hard for the two of us to have a normal conversation and we were sitting not across from each other but right next to each other at a table for four. We almost invited some friends for the night and we are so glad we didn't, because we wouldn't have been able to hear half of what was being said unless we were all yelling - which was what everyone else in the room seemed to be doing!! So, if you are looking for a romantic evening with your loved one, I would definitely not recommend Aldo's - unless you go when it's slow. But Saturday night at 8 pm is probably not a good idea. Seems ideal, however, for a group of guys that want to enjoy great food and yuck it up. read more

Went to Aldo's for dinner. I ordered a chicken dish which come out almost raw. I sent the dish back. Since my wife already had her meal I asked for something quick. The waiter recommended a shrimp and pasta dish. The shrimp dish was fine. When the check came there was no adjustment. As a matter of fact the replacement dish was more expensive than the chicken dish and they charged me the difference. I told the waiter that I would have expected an adjustment. He asked the boss and told me "sorry no adjustment". Incredibly poor service. Aldo it has been some time but I noticed you wrote that we enjoyed our meal. To clarify for future readers we did enjoy our meal due to the waiter's attitude and initially disturbing issue finding raw chicken. I had the chicken soup that was as special as well as the yellowfin tuna w balsamic mushrooms & spinach.... Excellent. When I heard I would be headed here for dinner, I looked up the menu to see what Aldo's offered.. I am so glad I looked before I went! There are so many delicious dishes to choose from. I made my gnocchi and vodka sauce selection before I walked in the door, but the amount of daily specials really threw me for a (good) loop! They probably had around 15+ specials, just for Thursday night and they all sounded delish. At Aldo's, my water was kept full most of the time (something I always judge on), servers were friendly, and most importantly, the food was very good. A special crab cake appetizer was full of meat, my gnocchi was light and perfectly sauced, and, even though I normally never eat veal, the bite I had from my date's plate was very tender! Also, lots of points for BYOB. I love those kinds of restaurants. We went on a Thursday night around 6:15 and had no issues getting seated. You might run into a bigger crowd around 7ish.
