Not aldos I called Aldo's early yesterday to see if they could accommodate my low salt diet. We ordered take out from the restaurant the other night. The portions were big more than enough to feed us. My husband had angel hair pasta w/marinara & the taste is just ok per my hubby. I had the cannoli & it was stuffed w/cheese & covered w/mushrooms & spinach. The dish was just rather bland tasting, the cheese could have used more seasoning. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like family. The owner and his wife (who's in the kitchen) clearly pour their hearts into every detail. We enjoyed two bottles of red wine, incredible mussels and crab cakes, and outstanding entrees--crab-stuffed shrimp and shrimp scampi that were rich, fresh, and full of flavor. The food quality was mediocre with little flavor and over priced. The restaurant is old and rundown The owner is nasty and very difficult to deal with. I had been here a couple of times and he charged me more than the prices on the menus. When that happens I often tip but not 20%. The owner then came back and harassed me in from of our friends and family. It was embarrassing and frustrating. He got a bit in my face and demanded me to explain. Not good. Went here after nextdoor neighbors recommended. We were expecting old world Italian. It wasn't that. We made reservations. Totally unnecessary. Hardly anyone inside. Very nice serving staff. White tablecloth. Bright lights. Not great atmosphere. Three separate dining areas. So if you had a big party, they could easily seat you. Wine list is important for me. Probably the worse wine list I have ever seen. They had Apothic Red under interesting wine. I would say apothic red is interesting only bc it's so awful. Something called Tisdale which is a 3.3 on Vivino was also on the list. I don't think I've ever had anything below a 3.8 on Vivino. So this wine choice scared me a little. Hint to the owner: have a decent glass of wine by the glass. Salad: house salad. I can't stand iceberg. They didn't have this. It was at least romaine. But had one tiny slice of tomato and one tiny slice of cucumber. For about fifty cents, you could have upped the ante on the salad. Caesar was below average per my husband. Dinner: husband has salmon. It was actually a large piece and pretty good. I didn't like anything on the menu. No carbonara. No gnocchi. Asked to take fettuccine Alfredo and add only mushrooms and artichoke. They wouldn't do the artichoke but did do the mushrooms. It was surprisingly good. The bread was hot and dipped in butter. Good. I know some are upset about butter in bottom of bowl. Didn't bother me. I like butter. Save my calories for Friday night dinner. Overall: great service. Terrible ambiance. Slightly above average food. Awful wine list. Would I come back? No. Cibo e beve and Il Giallo are too close with similar prices. Tre Vele has better food with tiny serving sizes and Better ambiance. Obviously a great place for group event as there are a number of groups that regularly meet up in their private and semi-private dining rooms two groups on the night I was there. The food is pretty good. My first order in years from Aldo's was the manicotti and the Chicken Marsala served with spaghetti. I really like the manicotti but there wasn't any actual taste of Marsala in the chicken Marsala. I'll be back anyway to try other dishes and update this review. But our evening was ruined by the totally unexpected political and religious rants by the owner. When we expressed we did not wish to discuss politics or religion, he became confrontational and even continued shouting at us as he followed us to the door. Awful. The Chicken Franchese was literally 4 chicken tenders on top of boxed spaghetti, drenched in a watery lemon butter sauce. Plus, no attempt at presentation whatsoever, no parsley, no parmesan, no fresh cracked pepper, just a sad little plate. Plus, it was 25! Underwhelming in every way, Aldo's is an overpriced and tired, dated place. The air of stale food that hits you when you walk in the door is topped only by tasting it a few minutes later after you order. The bread rolls were swimming in oil, and had little to no garlic flavor. The salad, a highlight of the dinner, was over-seasoned with oregano and had some gummy mozzarella shreds mixed in. At least it wasn't iceberg lettuce! My entree, Chicken Franchese, consisted of battered strips rather than a breast so that was unique. These were cooked, but sat on a thin bed of spaghetti noodles swimming in an oily, bitter lemon sauce. So while it was recognizably what I ordered, it certainly didn't taste very good. When you have to get the cops involved....you probably shouldn't go here. The owner was cussing out patrons and acting a fool. Never go here. I'm a regular playing in the Any Two Card Poker League that advertise free poker at this establishment. This was my first time coming to this location. It's to free play but the more food and drinks you buy, the more chips you get and there is typically cash or bar cash prize at the end. Well, I asked how much a Kahula and milk cocktail was and the waitress responded $12. This seemed absorbently high so they went to double the price. It seemed that during that period of time, everyone complained about the service - that their pasta entree, a glass a water, a piece of cake, dessert, YOU NAME IT - were never coming and constant reminders were needed. Even one patron asked, could I get another cocktail and one of the members of the wait staff responded - "I'm not your server." No other response. Not happy to help or help to find the actual server. Anywho, let's get to how the cops got involved. So as I'm dealing the poker game, the owner/manager - Masoud Sedghi - comes up to me very rudely and asked me if I'm going to order anything. I said, I'm fine. Then he starts raising his voice and yelling "I DON'T WANT YOU HERE." I'm confused at this point. The Tournament Director of the Any Two Cards Poker League explains it's illegal to advertise a free poker league and make people buy items. The owner said he doesn't care if it's illegal and they have a contract to host the poker league and he only wants paying customers. This was the most unprofessional spectacle I had ever seen in front of a group of 25 people or so. So, I leave the establishment and I call the Sandy Springs Police Department and two officers show up within 10 minutes of my call. They were polite, but I don't think they understood the law at all. According to Georgia Law: O.C.G.A. 16-12-21 (2010) 16-12-21. Gambling (a) A person commits the offense of gambling when he: (1) Makes a bet upon the partial or final result of any game or contest or upon the performance of any participant in such game or contest; (2) Makes a bet upon the result of any political nomination, appointment, or election or upon the degree of success of any nominee, appointee, or candidate; or (3) Plays and bets for money or other thing of value at any game played with cards, dice, or balls. So what that REALLY means: It is gambling, when you require a person to buy food or beverages in order to play in a poker league, then it is not a free game and illegal under the Georgia law. This is my interpretation but I will be seeking legal advice. I told them that it's a free poker league and that it's illegal to make patrons pay money to play here and they said well it's his establishment and he's allowed to turn anyone away...even them. I don't think the police officers even heard of the law so now I have to go during business hours. So right now, I will be writing a review on Google, Trip Advisor, Better Business Bureau and following up with a civil attorney. My husband is convinced it's a criminal matter as he found the law that states it's illegal to force patrons to pay for a free poker league in Georgia. The best genuine Italian food and customer service you'll find. It's a family-run business. I ate dinner here with my family and really enjoyed it. First they gave us salad to start, we ate pasta, and ordered chocolate cake as dessert. Everything was so fresh and just good, real Italian food that I haven't had in a while. As for service: The owner felt like a close friend from the minute we walked in. He was so friendly, welcoming and polite, always checking in and making conversation. Full disclosure: This review is based off a take out order and pick up experience. I ordered for the first time ever from Aldo's last weekend for a family member's birthday. Showed up to restaurant and was immediately disturbed by zero Covid protocols in place (no staff wearing masks or gloves, restaurant entry way visibly appeared dirty and cluttered, and the dining room was packed with no social distancing) and the manager who met us in the entryway immediately appeared hostile that I and my young daughter came in to pick up wearing masks. He was in no way friendly, didn't greet us, disappeared into the back, came out abruptly with our order and put it quickly down on a table in the entry way and walked away without any communication or even a thank you. It was super weird and I left there feeling uncomfortable and honestly upset that I just spent $80 on a meal they weren't even the slightest bit grateful for the business. I drove home really hoping at least the food tasted good. Well, I can at least say their food IS delicious. Everything we ordered was incredibly tasty and you could tell fresh. So, my takeaway is: food is awesome, service not so much. Not so sure my patronage was appreciated so I probably won't be going back, but I'm at least happy I have them a try. read more

I've been to this restaurant twice. The first time I came here, I took my family from out of town and all of us thought the food was just okay, nothing spectacular. Two years later, I decided to give it another shot because it happened to be on Scoutmob (50% off your meal up to $20). It changed from just okay to slightly below okay. We got seated with a host who also happened to be our waiter as well. There was not one person besides us in the restaurant on a Sunday night. By the time we finished our meal, a couple other tables had been occupied. We ordered our meals which came with salad and garlic bread. The salad was drowning in Italian dressing. In fact, you could tell it was drowning when it appeared on the table. I'm not sure why they didn't fix that before serving it. The garlic rolls were good in texture but lacked in garlic. I was a bit disappointed. I ordered the Chicken Romano as my main dish because I had seen other reviews on this dish and the waiter said it was his most popular dish. Once again, I was highly disappointed. The chicken didn't taste bad but the Marsala sauce was extremely watered down. I have a feeling, if it were a bit thicker, the dish would've been perfect. For $18 a plate, I would expect real sauce. The waiter barely spoke to us the entire time except when I asked for a dish recommendation. When we left the restaurant the waiter looked at us and didn't even say "thank you". I was so disappointed, not sure I'd be going back. read more

Chicken Romano is not as good as the last time :( it could've used more time in the oven to cooked that mozarella all the way through ... the mushrooms couldve used some time as well. However, it was still great. Hubby's jumpo schrimp sampi was also delicious but the pasta was overcooked, it got mushy on his plate after about 15 minutes. Salad was great, and bread was also pretty good this time around. Ambiance still okay, but it gets a bit awkward when theyre empty on the peak hours of Friday night. Service was a bit slow at first, but all in all, pretty good. There's currently a scoutmob out, and I think that people should give this place a chance especially around dinner time. Based on other recent reviews, this place seems to be a hit or miss, so maybe management needs to pay more attention to the consistency of their product and their service. all in all, this visit was not as great as the first time, but I will definitely come back again. read more

Not good. I ordered a pizza and chicken parmigiana entrée. The pizza dough was premade and to thick, the sauce was bland and cheese was tasteless. The Chicken Parmigiana was very disappointing. Worst dining experience ever! It took 1.5 hours for our appetizer to come out after placing it!!! Another hour for the server to take our entree order. And they questioned the 15% gratitude we gave them. You better be happy we gave you a tip with the horrible wait time and crappy service. The food was mediocre, and there was one chef, one server (owner), and an underage server. Their uber eats machine was going off, but instead of taking care of their guests that were dining in and closing the engine down. They were constantly taking Togo orders and making their dine-in guests suffer. We had a party of 15 with four split checks. Our party was 15 mins late. But due to the holiday apparently, his whole staff called out. The owner said that "the service was so long due to our 4 split checks, and no one does split checks anymore." What the hell?! He attended to all his smaller tables who came an hour after us, ate, and checked out. We were ignored and constantly told, "we're coming." One of our friends never received his entree until everyone was checking out. We didn't get any emphatic apology about the long wait or delay in service, or communication that it will take a couple of hours for our food to go out. He did not offer any apps, discounts, or apologies for the long wait in food and service. The owner was argumentative and horrible. Apparently, we didn't have the patience to stay there for 3+ hours for them. I will make sure to tell my clients, friends, and family never to dine here. Oh, and the owner took the $5 cash tip we gave to the underage server my husband felt bad for. What a joke this place is. Do yourself a favor. BAMBENEILL'S is better authentic Italian food, and the service is better!!! Heck, even olive garden! The owner/server ego and pride to think tonight was a pleasant evening and the long 3-hour wait was deserving of more than 15%. We felt bad for them, so we tip. But for him to question our tip was unacceptable and the last straw! He approaches my husband in front of our party about our 7.5% tip on our credit card and asks the kid to give him the other 7.5% cash tip after explaining that we tipped the rest in cash to the kid. I sure did give the owner a piece of my mind. This whole evening could have been better. If the owner had given better customer service and explained there would be a 2-hour delay for EVERYTHING! "Hey, apologies, we have one cook because it's the holiday, so the food will be delayed, we're understaffed, but let me get y'all a cocktail or app on the house bc y'all waited for 1 hr for apps and 2.5hrs for entrees, and the service will be slow. If you cannot wait for a couple of hours we cannot accommodate your party due to being understaffed." Then totally fine, or don't take a party if you can't accommodate them!!! But to question and demand 18% when the service was crap was appalling. Save yourself the misery and dine-in somewhere else. read more

We grew up in very Italian area of the NE and appreciate true flavors. Sadly living in middle Tennessee most Italian is "Americanized" and lacks the authentic flavor of true Italian, I guess you had to grow up with spices to appreciate the taste of Italy. Aldo's knows what to include in his offerings, thank you for the taste of real sausage and peppers! Another good meal tonight at Aldo's Our dog club meets there monthly and the board meets monthly too and it's always a friendly & tasty experience even if I have to drive 31 miles to get there! Their chicken is very tender and flavorful and the shared Italian salad and garlic rolls always super fresh! I am so frustrated by my second experience at Aldos that I am writing this while still sitting at the table. I walked in with a spring in my step I was so excited to eat. I will be leaving with a spring in my step because I can't get out of here quickly enough! Our server, Sam, is awful. AWFUL! We have been here for almost an hour and a half...most of the time spent waiting on Sam. Let's start with our pre-meal experience. Our salad took a bit to come. Not a big deal, because they serve bread, right? Right? My husband and I thought that maybe they stopped offering bread. Until we saw the server in the section next to ours giving it to all of his tables. We had to flag down a busser to ask for some. Our server was nowhere to be found to ask. After what seemed like a really long time, our food came. My lasagna noodles were hard. Like not cooked through hard. Not al dente hard...dry hard. So, I sent the lasagna back. About 10 minutes later my second lasagna came. The noodles were cooked a bit more this time...but the middle was cold! My husband was already finished with his meal, so I figured I would just reheat it at home rather than wait for a third lasagna (I have no idea why the lasagna gods are mad at me lately, as this recently happened at another restaurant). So I thought I would just ask Sam for a box. But 10 minutes later, Sam hadn't even checked in with us to make sure my new lasagna was ok...15 minutes later and I was getting angry. So when I finally started to get up to go and find him, Sam came back. I told him that I just wanted a box to reheat at home since the lasagna was cold...and what did Sam do? Nothing! I mean, I almost had to send back 2 lasagnas. He could have at least offered dessert or SOMETHING. We did have an Entertainment Book coupon, but the coupon didn't cover the entire dish...so the dish should have at least been taken off in its entirety. We placed our credit card in the little bill booklet and waited...and waited...and waited...but Sam seemed in no hurry to come back. Praise the good Lord I had cash in my purse, so that we were able to finally just take out the credit card, leave cash and now we can get the heck out of here! Aldo's is an old school Italian restaurant. It's been around as long as I can remember. Located in the same shopping center as Nori Nori on the corner of Roswell Rd. and Abernathy Rd. I came here for a Saturday night dinner with family. The restaurant was busy, but we were still able to get seated immediately without a reservation. The space inside has a traditional tablecloth setup with a mixture of cushioned booths and tables. At night, the atmosphere is candlelit and romantic, though it feels a bit dated and can get loud. There's a covered outdoor patio too. The restaurant serves Italian comfort food from pastas to veal, chicken, steaks and seafood. They offer about a dozen selections of each type (pasta, veal, chicken, etc.) and have pizza too. Pasta entrees are anywhere from $10-15 while the meat and seafood entrees can go up to as much as $25 per. I tried a handful of items from their menu: Appetizer: Mussels - simmered in white clam sauce and served over angel hair Entrees: Lasagna Eggplant Parmigiana - fried strips of eggplant baked with ricotta, mozzarella, and marinara Salmon - blackened and served with vegetables and pasta Overall, not bad, but also not very memorable. The mussels seemed fresh enough. No unpleasant "fishy" taste. I enjoyed the smooth angel hair pasta soaked in white clam sauce. Flavorful. Each entree came with a house salad and garlic bread, both of which were good. The Lasagna came baked in one of those oval-shaped bowls with miniature handles. It was served piping hot. I had to give it several minutes to cool down. I was a little disappointed in the dish. It was very mushy and didn't have enough cheese, especially the hardened, chewy kind that can form at the edges. I used the garlic roll to help sop up a lot of the food. The Eggplant Parmigiana was OK. Like the Lasagna, I thought the Parmigiana could have used more cheese. It was heavy on the marinara. The ricotta was great -- light and creamy and slightly sweet. We were disappointed in the blackened Salmon. This dish was quite bland and ordinary. At least it was healthy. The veggies included broccoli, zucchini, squash, and red bell pepper. I think they were steamed. Not much flavor at all. Service was very good. The food and drinks came out in no time and our server was friendly and attentive. If you're in the neighborhood looking for Italian cuisine, Aldo's is certainly worth a visit, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.
