I came here on a Saturday afternoon because I was craving pasta and wanted to try a new Italian spot. It was a nice day outside, and I arrived about 40 minutes before their new lunch period was over. Walking in, the place has really nice decor and a spacious bar set up. The atmosphere feels classy but inviting. Virtually nobody was dining at the time. Only a few patrons at a coiple of tables. The doors to the patio were propped open and there were two tables seated right inside of that doorway. A couple was seated at one and I asked to have the second table. I'm not sure if it was a table that I would have been offered but the hostess politely wiped it down for me and was happy to seat me there. I ordered the bolognese and a cocktail. The bolognese was the pefect portion - assuming a smaller serving because it was lunch, but more than enough for me. The cocktail was good, the view of the patio was nice, and because it was pretty quiet, it felt like a really peaceful meal. My waiter Christian was very friendly and gave great service. She also offered me some of the house made sourdough that had just come out for dinner. Definitely curious to come back and try something else from their dinner menu. read more

She said that the cherries in her mixed drink were better than her meal. The cherries come in a jar glass and they're not made in-house. Terribly overpriced just so they can pay the lease. This will not last, unfortunately for them. Prices should translate to the entrees AND service. I am Italian so I'm a harsh critic. Pasta was not great and lacked lots flavor. The tuna tartare and pizza were the best dishes by far! Tuna was so fresh and the pizza sauce was so light. The crust on the pizza was cooked well. I preferred the cheesecake over the tiramisu which was disappointing but both were okay. I had high hopes for a better turn out due to my love for their bakery, Giulia's. The place was beautiful and really felt inviting. The staff were super nice but it did take a minute for the waitress to tend to us at times. Overall experience was just okay. read more

Went there this evening with eight other friends for Christmas Eve dinner after church. Service was slow, but that wasn't the worse part. The food was SO bland, like where were the seasonings??? Not salt, but truly robust Italian flavor? The portions were ridiculously small, like less than an appetizer size, for the main entree. I needed to go home for dinner afterwards, after spending over $30 a plate for dinner. The wine was good. Not sure how this place is going to stay in business! Their site says, "Every plate tells a story", well ours last night said "bland, paltry, and not appetizing. Never will I got here again let alone recommend this restaurant. So, go elsewhere and enjoy dinner, just not here!! And one star is being nice. read more

This restaurant is beautiful and has the potential for greatness. A few things I struggled with was the temperature of the restaurant was too warm. It felt stuffy, muggy. Our drink glasses were sweating like we were eating outside. They don't serve ice tea which was a disappointment as I'm currently taking a break from wine so I drank tepid water . I don't think I've ever been to a full service restaurant, especially in the South, that doesn't offer tea?? That's like a restaurant in Italy not serving espresso. First time dining - we were three couples on January 24th. We ordered one bottle of wine (the Castillo di Bossi Chianti) and a glass of the Spumante and it was very good. Each of the couples ordered their own entree to share and we ordered 4 appetizers for the table to share (and that was a perfect amount of food). The wine was excellent - matched well with our meal. The appetizers were the meatballs, tuna tartare, fritto di mare, and burrata. All were very good and there was plenty to share (they also provided bread with the appetizers) For dinner we had the pork belly, paccheri all's Luciana, tortello alla genovese, and parmigiana. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The owners are very experienced restaurateurs with several locations in the Atlanta area. This one is only open about two months. First of all, I have to say, all these 2 star reviews from opening day/week, that's savage. We have been really excited to try Luga. East Cobb has been craving a concept like this, and I must say, it lived up to expectations. We came on a date night with another couple and the experience was delightful. We arrived early and started out with drinks at the bar. I had their version of an old fashioned and my wife had the French 1908. Our friends had "the coffee please" and a pineapple vodka. All of the drinks were excellent with generous pours. They sat us for dinner right at our reservation time. We ordered the charcuterie board and Nonna's meatballs appetizer. Both were excellent. We demolished the meatballs and had to order a second order since they were so good. For dinner, I had the eggplant parmesan appetizer as my entree paired with the Burrata Salad. Both were excellent. Others in our party had the diavolo pizza and the bolognese. Everyone loved their meals. Overall the service was a little slow, but to be expected from a restaurant that has only been open less than a month. The space is beautiful and the staff friendly. Stopped in for a lovely brunch and everything was delicious! My toddler really enjoyed the carbonara, the tuna salad was fresh and flavorful, and the pizzas were a hit. I also loved the overall ambiance. The only drawback was the coffee--it sat at the bar long enough for our drinks to arrive cold and for the cappuccino foam to fall. Absolute shame that Mirko is closing. Another shame that the owner is using AI generated responses addressing all of the negative reviews. Strange how 2/3 of the reviewers only have a single review each. I sincerely hope this location improves and course corrects the food immediately. Italian cuisine is meant to be vibrant with hits of garlic, olive oil, cheeses, etc. I agree with everyone's feedback with the strange textures, temperature inconsistencies, and flavors. My boyfriend and I decided to try Luga for the first time yesterday night and we had somewhat high expectations considering how long it took for this location to open. We were unfortunately met with subpar service and okay food that unfortunately shadowed every other positive quality the restaurant has to provide. The beginning of the night started off decent, as the ambience and general atmosphere was very pleasing to look at, however, the restaurant is by no means an intimate space at all because so many of the tables were extremely close together, which seemed to cause plenty of other staff some problems as we noticed several people dropping check books onto guests, bumping into tables, or the staff having an arm linger over our food while talking to another table. Our waiter was a young man who seemed like this was his first serving job, and wasn't able to explain why a dish on the menu was worth trying since he had just listed off everything in the description. The menu itself was already somewhat hard to navigate on top of already being in poor shape with stains and wrinkles all over, and our waiter was of no help. My boyfriend and I were offered to have our meal coursed out by our waiter, and we decided to have the Parmigiana as our appetizer, the Arugula and Pear as the salad, then finally the Diavola pizza as our entree to split. Each dish was good in flavor, and our appetizer came out shortly after being ordered, but, the salad and pizza both took an hour after our appetizer and during this time our waiter had not checked in on us, or given any updates on our food. Both the salad and pizza arrived to our table at the same time even though we were expecting them to be coursed out, and we were not given new plates despite stating we would be splitting our food either. Both the salad and pizza were tasty but the pizza was lukewarm and I wished I had more positive things to say but the service we received had reflected terribly on anything else I was optimistic about. Towards the end of the night, I tried the Strawberry Mule from the bar which was also very good! I really liked it, but wished I could have ordered it sometime during the hour my boyfriend and I spent waiting for a salad and pizza. I don't typically write reviews with such a negative or harsh tone, but this experience had bothered me deeply considering the way Luga presents itself as a high-end dining experience with similar menu prices to match that expectation, which ended up being the exact opposite and left such a terrible first impression. The food was promising enough that I would return to this place months from now to give it another chance, and hopefully by then the quality of service will be capable of matching the title Luga claims to have as a high-end restaurant. read more

Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I have had in Atlanta. The service was lackluster from the start. Our server mentioned multiple times that it was her second day on the floor and that she did not really know what she was doing. While we understand new staff need time to learn, this was repeatedly communicated in a way that did not instill confidence. When we asked for appetizer recommendations, she walked us through the menu and listed everything we should not order. She specifically told us not to order the charcuterie because she did not like it and mentioned she had never had seafood before so she could not recommend any of the seafood dishes. As a result, we skipped appetizers altogether. We also asked for a wine bottle list which we never received. We were told it was available via the QR code menu but it was not. Because of this, we ended up ordering individual glasses instead of a bottle. The service was also excessively intrusive. Despite having only four tables, the server came by every 30 seconds, making it difficult to have a conversation or even eat comfortably. We overheard the table next to us ask for butter with their bread and were told the restaurant does not serve butter. The guest mentioned they had received butter less than a week earlier. A few minutes later, the server returned with butter. We experienced the same issue when requesting items we were initially told were unavailable, only to later find out they were. After dinner, we ordered two martinis. They were spilled all over the table, the glasses were dirty and the table was left sticky. No effort was made to clean the table or replace the drinks. We were then informed there would be an additional $5 surcharge because the martinis were not on the menu and were told they could be taken away if we did not want to pay the extra cost. This left us with spilled drinks and a twenty dollar glass of martini. To make matters worse, the food portions were extremely small. We left hungry and disappointed after spending over one hundred dollars on subpar food and very poor service. In my twenty years of dining in Atlanta, I have never experienced service this bad. We have been looking forward to good Italian in East Cobb, and were very excited to be there on day 2 We returned Dec 21 for a family birthday party of 10 Once again the food was good but that was all. The service was severely lacking. Basics like refilling water or removing dirty plates, or food coming out together, or asking repeatedly where was the bottle of wine we ordered at appetizers and now most of the party was finished eating. I was sad to see no help for our waitress, as she had many other tables , and no one that looked like they were management or in charge. We will be putting a pause on our trips to Luga. read more

We ordered 2 pasta dishes we both felt it needed more sauce with pasta dishes but you could definitely tell all pasta was homemade. Was packed when we entered @ 7:50 on a Friday night. And in typical E Cobb fashion, was nearly empty at 9:00. Generally, the food was good. Their bread looked great- but ultimately was disappointing. It was refrigerator cold and had limp/damp crust. I don't understand the need to charge $9 for a glass of Blue Moon. Seems egregious. Tables surrounding ours received a carafe for water. We didn't get a carafe and our glasses were never refilled. Also, their water glasses are too narrow-- making drinking awkward. Extremely loud. read more

The atmosphere felt cheap and no longer intimate, which was disappointing because Drift was such an amazing fine dining experience with phenomenal food and service. The menus were creased, wrinkled, and torn, which immediately set low expectations. The pizza seemed to be made with basic bread dough rather than traditional pizza dough, and the sauce tasted overly concentrated--either over-reduced or heavy on tomato paste. The food overall lacked the high-end quality that Drift once had; casual is great, but quality is paramount. With respect to the service, everyone was cordial and nice, but no super noteworthy moments...just fine. Overall, for the pricing, I'd rather take my money somewhere else, especially if this spot intends to act as the anchor restaurant at the Avenue, $105 for a couple of drinks for two and a mediocre pizza. We went during opening week, so we expected a few kinks to be worked out. Unfortunately, we experienced more than a few kinks. The food was ok, some items were good, not great, but the timing of service to a table of 4 is unacceptable. Getting a drink timely was a challenge. And after we had finished our meal, they brought out a second round of our entrees, so an obvious communication issue. They did box them up for us to go without charge, so that was appreciated. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, what you would expect in an upscale restaurant, however the thumping music was way too loud to have a conversation. I was also very surprised that there was no manager to be found on the floor. We may go back in a couple of months to try them again, hopefully they have all the kinks worked out. read more

Spectacular italian food and service in East Cobb! First time dining with another couple on a Friday night . Our server Mila was very attentive, enthusiastic about the food and offered great recommendations. We shared the meatballs and tuna tartare as appetizers, the pinse (pizza) with burrata and prosciutto, tortella alla genovese, leek and sausage risotto and beef tenderloin. Toasted sourdough bread with olive oil was also delicious. We also got some glasses of wine that were very good. We loved every dish and our server Mila was a superstar. We enjoyed the ambiance and seeing how the space was remade from the former restaurant. I am definitely coming back for lunch! read more

My husband and I went for lunch and they have a very limited menu. I had the tagliolini cacio e pepe. Very bland. We asked for bread and the waitress did give us bread, but acted like she did us a big favor because they only give bread at dinner. I love italian food so I made reservations for mothers day and was excited to try another pasta that maybe had more flavor. The menu was brunch only with no italian dishes on it what so ever. French toast, eggs and potato ect. I checked the website and it said nothing about just a brunch menu only for mothers day. We left and had a wonderful Italian meal at Frankies!! With great anticipation, we have already visited twice. The first visit was the first week they opened, so we didn't want to be too critical, knowing they probably had to work out some "kinks". Having run and owned many restaurants in Atlanta, we went in with a "secret diner" mindset and noted some things we shared with the manager at the end of our meal. Our waiter was great, but he had no control over his support team. Two glasses of wine, one white and one red, arrived, but took forever to be delivered, and didn't even come at the same time. Food was good. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, but the portions were so small for the price that it felt more like tapas portions. As we finished our main course, they brought our order out again. Our second visit was with ten of us two weeks later. The "separate dining area" for our large party was hardly private, and the music and crowd noise made conversation difficult. Once again, the bar service is incredibly slow, and in fact, we had the bottle of wine ordered with our cocktail order delivered after we had finished eating. Every time someone, including our waitress, came to the table to provide entrees, they never picked up the used dinnerware. It got so bad that we finally took our used plates and stacked them on the table next to us. Never once did we see a manager or have one visit our table to ask the obvious question, "How was your dinner?" Experienced management needs to be on the floor, constantly keeping an eye on the service; if this is a long-overdue East Cobb Italian eatery, is to survive. read more
