Our order was taken and food was well worth the wait! I had the Ivy Smashburger and it was cooked to perfection! The fries were also very fresh and seasoned well. Not sure name of the dipping sauce but it was delightful. The staff is friendly and ambiance is nice. Space is very tastefully decorated with a warm navy blue palette. Nice music was playing just know there is no dancing allowed! There's also a bar with TV that has captions. Once our meal concluded, Arika brought the bill in a customized leather and wood holder. Gratuity is included and you can add to it. She was nice enough to pack my carry out and even the bag is branded. I really loved the attention to detail. They have a brunch and a dinner menu. Prices are on far for the level of service received. Street parking and limited parking behind the restaurant. There are steps so not sure if there is a barrier free entrance available. We had a very nice dinner here with an old friend who lives nearby and comes often. The music was a bit loud inside but we were able to talk without difficulty. I found the beer list very disappointing. But the food was excellent. Every one of the dishes was excellent -- I had the mezcal wings with blueberry sauce, nicely spicy and balances by the sweet sauce, and the berry salad, topped with blackened salmon -- I was full when done with no room for dessert. My wife enjoyed the charred cabbage and "the best mac and cheese I have ever had." A third member of our group had the romaine caesar salad, which arrived as a series of romaine leaves with caesar salad contents sitting them and wagyu meatballs (she was so full on the former that she had no room for the meatballs). We decided to stick with the happy hour menu because we had already been snacking. We got wings and the meatballs. The wings were delicious and are the most popular item on the menu. After seeing many videos of this place on Instagram, my friends and I decided to give it a try. The place is small so if you're not looking, you will miss it. They have a small parking lot in the back, but there is parking on the street. When we walked in the building, we were immediately in the dining area with the hostess stand in the front. We explained that our reservation was at 2 o'clock and we were told to wait a few minutes because they had to clean some tables off for us. A few minutes later a waitress came out and told the hostess to hold the door and not let anyone else in until they cleaned the tables. So the hostess was nice and let us know that she will give us a call when our table is ready so we went back outside and sat in our car waiting for the call. We waited for 20 minutes and still no call then we went back in there and the hostess said just a few more minutes. She did mention that we could sit at the bar instead of sitting outside waiting so we went to the bar and noticed there was two other parties in the restaurant with all the tables cleaned off. We informed the bartender that we were waiting for a table. He looked around puzzles then graciously sat us at a table. We were kindly greeted by our waitress, who informed us of what was available and what wasn't. We placed our drink orders and we all agreed that our drinks tasted water down. We then ordered the bread and butter, which is a croissant with honey butter that was very, very good if I come back, I will get that again. We also ordered the chicken and waffles which we all agreed that the waffle was bland and the chicken was over seasoned. This place is aesthetically pleasing, but the food is bland. I don't usually leave such poor or long reviews, but my recent experience at Ivy was disappointing enough that I feel compelled to share. I arrived early for my 1:00 PM reservation, so I was initially very patient. I figured a few extra minutes for water service wasn't a big deal especially since I was early. By 1:30 PM a full 30 minutes after my reservation time and an hour after I had arrived I still hadn't received any food or any drinks other than water. The entire place was visibly understaffed. It wasn't just slow--it was chaotic and uncoordinated. Tables around me were also clearly frustrated, and the servers (few as they were) looked completely overwhelmed. No one checked in to update me on delays, apologize for the wait, or even acknowledge that it was taking far longer than it should. I had high hopes for Ivy, but this experience was a complete letdown from start to finish. I arrived early for my 1:00 PM reservation, so I didn't mind at first that it was taking a little time to get things going. I was seated and brought water, and figured the rest would follow shortly. A group of seven of us had reservations at 6pm on Friday before a 8pm theater show that was a few blocks from Ivy's. The outside of the building looks pretty sketchy but the interior is pretty chic. I was glad to hear that it was a minority (and female) owned business. Upon arriving it was not very busy and we were seated quickly. This is where things start to go south. Our waitress took drink orders pretty quickly. She started her orders with me and then worked her way around. After what seemed like a considerable amount of time drinks started arriving one by one, but not mine. After about 25 minutes I asked if my drink was still coming. TWENTY minutes later if arrived! Forty-five minutes for a drink! Now onto the food: Shortly after taking drink orders we ordered food. Again the waitress started with me and I ordered crab cakes. Everyone else ordered a full entree. At approximately 7:10, about an hour after ordering, again food started arriving one or two meals at a time. At about 7:25 everyone had their food except me. The crab cakes!! I asked and expressed my displeasure in the whole experience. At 7:35 my crab cakes were delivered. I took one bite, after waiting nearly an hour and a half, and they were cold. I immediately said just take this. I'm not eating them. Take it off my bill. I did not expect that would be a whole new experience. Trying to pay and get out of there was just yet another shit show and we were running out of there to get to our show! I guess I didn't mention the food. Well..I didn't get dinner so...I did have a couple of bites of my friend's crab stuffed salmon (not stuffed btw) and it was good. Scam likely!!!!! Worst birthday dinner ever! 0/10 do not recommend! My daughter booked a reservation for 20 and paid the required $200 deposit. So many things went wrong. When we got there others were seated in our reserved space then asked to move. That was very rude. Why seat them there knowing it was reserved?. Food was mediocre/bad and service was very slow for half of the group. When walking past the kitchen we could smell burning grease. Surely that's the reason my chicken came out burnt.I sent it back and reluctantly ordered something else. The cook and the server were dead wrong because there's no way they should have ever sent or brought that food out like that. The other end of the table didn't receive food for a long time after us. My second plate still came out before our party on the other end of the table was served. They were notified ahead of time of one of the young ladies having a seafood allergy. They served her someone else's seafood anyways. They mixed up several plates on that end but mixing up a plate for someone that has an allergy is not forgivable. When it came time to give my daughter her $200 back she was told that she could have it refunded back to her card if she had the same card that she used to make the deposit or it could be taken off the bill. She had already let them know when she booked it that she wanted it to be refunded back and had proof in the emails. They kept saying they could not find her deposit in the system. She was told that she would have to come back the next day to get her refund processed when the manager is there. The manager knew there was a party booked and what her refund request was so she should have planned for that. The same way you took it is the same way you should give it back. The server called the manager and we were there for over an hour waiting for them to "find" her payment even though they know that there would not have been a reservation without it being paid. They would not have seated us or made those people get up from our reserved space if they had not received payment. The emails and receipts weren't enough for them just apply it to the bill either. They wouldn't do anything because "they" couldn't find it. We were inconvenienced because they don't keep good records. The waitress spoke back and forth with the manager over the phone several times while we waited for the manager to check her emails and whatever else she claimed to be doing only for them to say that there is another restaurant and the deposit was put in that account. They claim there was no way they could fix it that night and would process it the next day. Sounds like either fraud or lies to me. Why isn't the bookkeeping correct? The emails and all the other documentation said Ivy Kitchen and Cocktails so why wouldn't the deposit be in that system? Makes me wonder what the IRS would think about this if they decided to audit the books. I was still pissed but whatever! We asked for an email to confirm that she would be processing the refund on the next day. The email read, "That can happen!" Unacceptable. There was no mention that a refund will be processed, when, and how much the refund will be. She gave no specific details at all. We asked the server to call her back. She let her know that we weren't satisfied with the email and handed my daughter the phone. My daughter heard her saying no don't give her the phone.We are going through all of this when we should have been long gone but no apology, no accountability and she only wanted to avoid us. We were also billed for an extra $100 for the birthday girls meal. They said she was sitting between 2 tables. She's one person and you only served the food once so it should not be on the bill more than once. We had to go back and forth several times to get that taken off. They also charge a 20% service charge then calculate gratuity as well. After getting a proper email about the refund we go outside to see someone trying to steal the truck. They busted the window out and deprogrammed the key fob but didn't have enough time to get away. If it weren't for them we would've been gone. I 100% blame the restaurant for the attempted theft. This was on Sunday and today is Friday. Still no refund. Management maintains no level of integrity, professionalism or pride about this establishment. Just as important as it was for you to get a deposit to make sure that you didn't get played, it should've been as important to give it back and keep a customer. Apple Pay is instant. They got it instantly should have given it back instantly. Now I'm going to do some digging to find out what other restaurant they supposedly own so I can make sure I avoid it at all costs. On this MLK day we wanted to go to a black owned establishment. Then I found out it's owned by women on top of that, so I knew nothing could go wrong. Food was amazing. Rich in flavor and portions were a good size for me. We started out with the coffee, mint and berries, then as entrees we did the short rib hash and the chicken and waffles. Meat was perfectly cooked. Everything was juice and just We did the peach cobbler entree as dessert and it did not disappoint. I called ahead of time to make sure my table of 5 could be accommodated. Upon arriving I was greeted by the front of the house host who not only was rude but also had an attitude. As we were seated we were told we had 15 mins before brunch was over. The vibes here are immaculate and for weekend brunch the music is always on point with the best throwbacks mixed in there. Really had a great time when I was here. The service was also phenomenal. We had a couple issues with our orders and the waitresses fixed it right away. I personally tried the Buffalo cauliflower and seafood chowder. Everyone at the table had the chowder and it was a 10/10 hit!! So flavorful. A group of us were visiting Detroit from out of town and chose Ivy & Cocktails to celebrate my friend's birthday and engagement. Unfortunately, what should have been a joyful occasion turned into one of the most uncomfortable and unprofessional dining experiences I've ever had. We had a reservation for 12:00 PM for a party of about 40 guests. Despite arriving on time and being patient, half of our party did not receive their main course until nearly 4:00 PM. There was no clear communication, no real updates, and no accountability for the extreme delay from management. We repeatedly asked to speak with the owner and were continuously told she was "in a meeting" -- on a Sunday afternoon, while the restaurant was clearly struggling to serve guests. That alone was frustrating, but what happened next was completely unacceptable. As we were calmly waiting for the bill, police officers walked into the restaurant and informed us that the owner had called the police claiming we were trying to leave without paying. We were absolutely mortified. This accusation was not only false but deeply disrespectful, especially considering we had been sitting there for hours waiting on food and service. The officers themselves told us this was the fourth time they had received a call like this from this establishment. Calling the police on paying customers to cover up operational failures is outrageous and a complete waste of city resources. This experience showed a clear lack of professionalism, hospitality, integrity, and basic customer service from the ownership. Antagonizing and humiliating guests instead of addressing internal system issues is not how a business should be run. It's truly pitiful that a celebration meant to be memorable became memorable for all the wrong reasons. I would strongly caution anyone considering hosting a large group or special event here. read more

Came here last night with my mother. We were driving around struggling to find a place that was open late at night to eat. We stumbled across this place. Weed heard of it before but never tried it. We were pleasantly surprised. Rico the manager, went above and beyond to accommodate us and make sure all of our needs were met. My mom got the buffalo cauliflower and the shrimp wonton tacos. The buffalo cauliflower was genuinely some of the best cauliflower that both of us have ever had. I got the wonton veggie tacos and omg... WOW! What stole the show was the salad that came with the tacos. It was literally only greens... but was the best salad I've ever EVER had. The way they seasoned it... WOW!!! Truly blown away. Highly recommend reservations and patience - it's worthwhile! You get a selection of two juices with a bottle for mimosas. Best dish was salmon sliders (3); second up chicken and waffles; shrimp and grits are good to share but don't steal the show. Service is slow and they don't seem very experienced but friendly and down to earth. Come ready to chill and enjoy the time eating with loved ones. read more
