La Bomba - hot chocolate and espresso
    Christine U.

My friend and I really wanted a breakfast burrito and there is a surprisingly lack of those in this city so I did a bit of googling and found Alejandro. I was super excited because in general, I love Mexican food and especially Mexican-themed breakfast. This place was way more awesome than I expected. The interior is bigger than it looks and I was glad that they could take us in as walk-ins on a Saturday. We each got La Bomba - a super delicious hot chocolate with a shot of espresso. We were also excited to find out that every brunch comes with a fruit plate, a shot of tasty smoothie and a sweet bread. A pleasant surprise and a very filling meal! My friend and I split the french toast which was super delicious with a light and not too sweet sauce and crunchy pecans. Flavor and texture were really well-balanced. We also both ended up getting the breakfast burrito with the added chorizo (slices.) It was filled with eggs and flavor and came with a nice sauce and potatoes. There were so many other things on the menu I wanted to try and I'm looking forward to going back. I see they're closed for the holidays so hopefully I can go again early in the new year.

I could not leave Montreal without visiting again! Great staff and great flavors with exceptional presentation in this casual restaurant. Reservations available!

This is a great brunch place! I fell in love with their corn bread the first time I went there. I loved it so much I went back a few days after just to buy it but I was told they only serve it during weekends (there's a tip for you!) So if you want to try Alejandro's, go for their weekend brunch. They'll give you a shot of their smoothie of the day and a small plate of fresh fruits, too. Don't forget to book in advance as their weekend brunch is popular!

The food tastes great! Place is beautiful and cozy. Amazing for a sunday brunch. However, the food quantity was a bit less considering the price point.

An incredible dish. It wasn't batter coated, but otherwise was exactly as described and delicious

My wife and I came to Montreal this weekend from Massachusetts for a brief vacation. We lived previously in Colorado for 10 years where we had the chance at many great Mexican restaurants. We stumbled on Alejandro while visiting the Latin Quarter. From looking on line after our lunch the restaurant is at the site of a prior Mexican restaurant "Chipotle and Jalapeno". However, our waiter told us that the current restaurant has been open for 2 months. It has a very fresh feeling decor and looks newly painted with an interesting and summery decor. What was far more impressive than the decor was the food. While we only tried two dishes, they were hands down the best Mexican dishes either of us have had since leaving Colorado more than 25 years ago. Our meal included both a soup and an entree, and we started with a wonderful traditional tortilla soup with a tomato broth, fresh avocado, white cheese, and chicken. We both then had a special traditional dish called "Chile en Nogada" that we had never seen anywhere else. It was made like a chile relleno with a poblano pepper stuffed with dried fruit, nuts, meat, and spices; but was served with a white walnut sauce and red pomegranate seeds to match the colors of the Mexican flag. This dish was simply outstanding. In addition our waiter this afternoon was outstanding.

But before even checking in, we had to walk through Bar George ~ and instantly knew we wanted to eat there. We were lucky enough to grab a last-minute reservation, and Julien took a good care of us throughout the evening. His recommendation of the Beef Wellington was spot on (it's already one of our favorite dishes), but this was hands down the best we've ever had. I ordered the lobster risotto, which was excellent with just the right amount of spice. My son had the 10 oz striploin steak with homemade fries (chips), and it was absolutely delicious. I also loved the Canadian touch of coarse salt on the steak, plus the option to choose between Béarnaise or peppercorn sauce. Julien also mentioned their pastry chef placed second in a NY competition, and the desserts absolutely lived up to that reputation. We tried the pineapple and coconut pavlova and the "lick me hazelnut" ~ both beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. We also ordered iced coffee and a latte, and noticed something interesting: this was the second place where we found Canadian coffee to be smooth and mild ~ such a nice change from the often bitter, over-roasted American coffee. Yes, dinner was a bit steep ($300+), but it was worth every penny. Between the rich history, stunning design, outstanding service, and unique cuisine, I would highly recommend Bar George. I would absolutely love to come back!!

The server seated us without warning, and when we went to order, each item we requested had run out. No Cuban, no chicken melt, no several other delicious sounding things. She gave us 10 more minutes to look over the menu and come up with a plan B. Truthfully I wanted to jump ship, but couldn't because our drink orders were already in, and I was captain of this gastronomic journey. We'd set sail without proper forecasting! We settled on the baked egg and salmon bowl, neither what we were exactly craving. The baked egg was fairly tasty, a shakshouka-esque experience accompanied by rustic bread for hasty dipping. The salmon bowl was excellent, with delicious dressing, but the salmon portion was oh-so-meager. It made me wonder if the lunch rush had given the kitchen such a beating that they had split my salmon filet in half and served it to me and my neighboring table friend. Check out my photo and tell me if that portion seems right? The lore says Michael Jordan worked his rear off every game because he always told himself there was probably at least one kid in the stands who came there to see THE Michael Jordan. Well this kid in the stands caught Olive et Gourmando taking the night off. There is a risk for peril if you choose this restaurant, especially if you are in Montréal for a limited time!

I went a long time ago, back in 2021, and I was so happy to have gone again since they relocated to Old Montreal. The exterior is this new building, but inside, it feels like you're in an old building with rustic textures and colours. The ambiance is so lovely and it truly is the best place for delicious brunch items and taking cute pictures too! My friends and I visited on a Saturday morning without reservations, but we went relatively earlier. We were seated right away for a table of 4 and were served teas and coffee. I ordered the Bone Marrow & Duck Confit which consisted of a country-style bread, duck poached egg, bone marrow, confict duck leg, manchego shavings, herb salted crumble and green peas. It's a massive dish and honestly everything tasted amazing all together. The bone marrow was perfectly cooked and the duck poached egg meld everything together. They also give you another bowl so you can put the marrow once you're done eating it. The bread was needed to soak up every part of this delicious dish. Other items ordered was the Foie Gras (Chef's specialty) which had brioche bread, duck poached egg, caramelized onion compote and crispy proscuitto chips. The chips were a wonderful item to pair with the seared foie gras. The foie gras was perfectly cooked. The Rustic is another fan favourite which had brioche bread, duck poached egg, sautéed mushrooms. pulled pork, potatoes and argula sprouts. it is such a beautiful dish - nice colours, many ingredients and placed well on the plate; not to mention it was so good too! The last item was the Croque Monsieur which has country-style bread, maple-glaed Gaspor acon, confit tomatoes, cheddar, duck sunny side-up egg on an endive salad. You can't pick it up and munch on it, so you know how big this must have been! Even cut into pieces, it requires some maneuvering to munch on it. Great place for brunch. Awesome service too. I would highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a brunch spot!
