Very good, fresh Mexican food and a great addition to the neighborhood. The drinks were delicious and you can tell everything is made from scratch. I took off a star for most of the items being a la carte - it would be great if their entrees included a side of rice and beans or vegetables. I would also highly recommend that they change the lighting- its very bright inside and feels more like a counter service restaurant so please dim the lights a little-then the ambiance would be perfect!! Went back to Aleli a couple times since my last review. I have to say, they have the best fish tacos in the area. Perfectly tangy and spicy. Octopus tostada still does not disappoint, and might be my favorite thing in the menu. I did end up trying the Mexican seafood rice as an entree and it is equally amazing. Very fresh ingredients, seasoned perfectly and spicy. Can't recommend it enough. Still one of my favorite additions to third avenue. read more

Outrageously good. Just the knife skills alone showcased in many of the dishes were Michelin Level. One of the best Margaritas, made with fresh lime, etc.... it's seriously one of the best Mexican Kitchens in NYC for the type of food they are doing. We're gonna be regulars for sure!!!! It's my favorite restaurant in Bay Ridge. I just wish that they changed the menu more often or had specials of the day. It's all very good here, just the short rib quesadilla is too greasy for me. My current fave is the shrimp quesadilla. The shrimp are large and well cooked. You can't go wrong with the fish tacos or the chicken enchiladas in red mole either. read more

Aleli have the best fish tacos in Bay Ridge. I've also tried their octopus tostada and it is also amazing. The location is great for large groups, is wheelchair accessible (ramp at entrance and big bathroom) and they plan to have outdoor seating in their back patio. As of July 1, 2020 they set up tables out front and they serve liquor/beer. Give this restaurant a try and you won't be disappointed! read more

Aleli. Quality. Careful choice of ingredients. And great spice combinations. And right across the street from me! So the cons: dessert menu only really has one item right now. I need more! But the coconut flan was rich dense and smooth. Good flavor and popped amaranth which is a treat. I got the spicy guacamole. Because guacamole, duh. They fry up the chips there. Perfect thickness and salt. Loved the guac. So many textures and flavor. A very nice blend. It's not very spicy either. Next was the memelita. This was a pleasant surprise. The shell here was made from scratch and grilled. It held up well to the vegetables and sauce. Beans were tender and creamy. Squash and mushrooms all came together with robust flavor. Def worth it. Does not need any meat at all to stand on its own. The chicken enchilado. Boneless thigh crispy fried. The meat has great flavor, no simple marinade here. A bouquet of bite sized Vegetable medley (purslane, cauliflower, fresh roasted corn, perfect carmelized Pearl onions, broccolini, roasted potatoes) with the most beautiful Chipotle sauce I've ever experienced. They won't share the recipe tho, this makes me sad. I did watch it get prepared but missed all the ingredients Being added. Its rich, floral, delicate, not overly Smokey or hot. I would put this sauce on everything. It makes me want to try every one of their sauces, which I plan to do soon. Yes. It's pricey. But. Every piece of produce was fresh and crisp . Every single Berry on my dessert was perfect, not a hint of age, no black, no mush, no mold and all sweet. You might wanna say it's luck, but not dead winter. We just love the food! It's fresh and delicious. We regularly have Aleli's veggie and chorizo burritos and really like their chips and guacamole. Also really enjoy the chicken adobado and vegetables with Pipian sauce. For a simple but wonderful soup, the chicken vegetable can't be best. So glad to have Aleli nearby! read more

Stopped by this restaurant to try the take out menu. Ordered the Octopus Tostada, a single pork taco, a steak burrito & a veggie burrito. The tostada was the highlight - just enough spice and very flavorful. The pork taco was a single corn tortilla, which I personally prefer, and was nicely cooked and spiced. Both burritos were very good (I was not offered a bite of the steak - still peeved at them for that) but the veggie was packed! Very clean & very friendly place with good quality food and not a fussy menu. I will for sure be back to order my own steak burrito. read more

Very disappointed in our experience at Aleli. Our group was the only table on 6/16 for lunch at 1:45pm. Upon entering the restaurant the gentleman that was in the establishment did not greet and seemed very annoyed that we wanted a table. When the same server brought over waters we said we were ready to order drinks and apps, to which he responded mm'hmm. The entire interaction came across as we were a disruption to his day. When we received our drinks one was not pictured as on the website and upon inquiry the Server just replied no it doesn't have that. Lastly we order kettle one and club soda and only the club soda was served we had walk back inside to ask for the vodka. The server said, o we don't have that but did not offer another brand. We had to request a different option. After this subpar experience we paid our bill and left to continue our lunch at another location that welcomed our patronage. read more

Unfortunately this will be a bad review ... we ordered from this place at least 20 times since they opened . Each time we tried to give them a 2nd chance , we cook a lot . So, when we had a long day and need a break we order out . 1st things 1st if you plan on ordering tacos they will fall apart each and every time , We have at least ordered tacos 10 times and each and every time they just fall apart because they only use one tortilla . They charge you a dollar for a little side of sour cream which is clearly cheap or cut with water . They also charge a dollar for a little tiny thing of green sauce which you should technically get with your food . The Chorizo is absolutely disgusting . It tastes like canned meat , they melt 1 lbs of some kind of cheap cheese in their burritos , which make it taste like cheese fries. The guacamole is 13 dollars and cut with sour cream! Anything vegetable is ok) so you will pay out the nose for veggies . Unfortunately there is not a single good mexican restaurant in bay ridge and thats a fact , unless you are used to fast/crappy mexican . A message to the owner : We aren't stupid Gringos as you may think, We actually know the difference between good and bad Mexican food . Please improve it because we would love to spend our money with you . read more

This will be the go to Mexican place of the neighborhood in no time. Beautiful, minimal decoration, everything is clean and new. We loved how simple their menu is. We tried the guacamole and all the tacos on the menu. My boyfriend and I loved everything we ordered, mainly the steak and pork tacos. And of course my boyfriend had to drink a Tamarind Jarrito.. At the end, we ordered the coconut flan. Incredible. The prices are not bad at all. Our server was very friendly and courteous. Really great addition to the food options on 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge! Place is still very new and smells squeaky clean! Everyone at the restaurant was very friendly! We shared some spicy guacamole. For mains we had the green chicken enchiladas and short rib. We ended it with some coconut flan! Everything was delicious! The flavor in the short rib and those veggies are enough to bring us back. Hope this spot gets its liquor license and becomes popular! The food options are outside of the regular Mexican menus and they certainly pack more flavor! read more
